Good Omens is a Transformative Work
It has been since the very beginning.
NG (fuck NG) thought of a book plot where a demon finds himself in The Omen movie. But he screws up the baby switch. And the Antichrist grew up as a character in a Richmal Crompton novel. He didn't know what to do with it next. TP offered to buy the story. He changed the demon into a demon and an angel defying their bosses on the earth they both loved. He added his smart whimsy and gave the story a moral core far beyond a silly spoof. When the story was written, queer kids saw themselves in the angel and demon based on the subtext. Because they lived in subtext. Gender fluid and trans readers created stories about an angel and demon for whom gender was a choice depending on how or whether they decided to make an effort. The strangeness of fitting into a planet dominated by beings the angel and demon differed from spoke to neurodivergent readers.
Religious readers found healing after years of struggling to make sense of doctrine divorced from morality. Some ace and aro readers saw the deep and meaningful relationship beyond romance between a pair together over 6000 years. And tons of horny people from all walks of life poured their hearts into smut that made the most of beings whose bodies allowed for a range of sexual practice that would never be realistic for humans.
People who felt rejected or unloved because they were "too much" or "too little", took solace from an angel who didn't mind the gruffness of the demon who couldn't bear to be cruel. And the demon who liked the angel being a little bit of a bastard. If an angel and demon could care for and accept each other for themselves, perhaps it could happen for them too? This is why the Good Omens fandom is so special. Transformation has been baked into his story from the very beginning. Biblical fan fiction, a collaborative story by two authors, a tv show/movie brought to life by a team of actors, designers, writers... And now also entire worlds of fan fiction and art. Good Omens continues to transform itself and the people who love it. And it will always be ours as we continue to transform it for generations to come.
I wrote this 2 years ago. Maybe it's time to reblog?
Def time to reblog.
between david “crowley evaporated” tennant and michael “aziracrow chose annihilation” sheen do you guys remember the days when this show was actually a comedy and didn’t end in the destruction of everything we loved about it?
Nostalgic for their low-key bromance
"somebody killed my best friend. bastards! all of you!" to "no us. ever again" is CRAAZY. Crowley would never let Aziraphale die much less be the reason for it. I dont know who that pessimistic suicidal demon is in s3 but that is not my Crowley
Good Omens came out on 31 May 2019, and from that moment on, a lot of people's lives changed. Mine certainly did. Among the many things this series brought into my life, joining the fandom gave me the chance to learn more about aspects of humanity I hadn't had much exposure to before. It gave me the opportunity to explore the many nuances of sexuality, gender identity, and the different forms that love can take, in short, the endless variety of what it means to be human. I learned. I read. I listened. I observed. I understood. It opened my mind even further. And I carried those lessons into my everyday life and my work. I've been able to support people, push for changes in my workplace to make inclusion something real rather than just an assumption, and become a better version of myself. I hope, in some small way, I've helped make life a little better for others too. Whatever people may think about the controversies surrounding Season 3, no one can take this away from me: Good Omens made me a better person.
Happy Pride Month, everyone

I know I'm def more aware of trans and non binary people as a result of this show

Lonicera, thank you for the incredible PRIDE art that will grace our banner for all of June! 🌈
Thank YOU!! I was so excited to get June! 🥰🌈
I actually made two versions of this one--
Again with another Good omens sketch bcz I miss them already:<<
This time Aziracrow human au !👀
It’s just that S2 introduced memory wipe as a punishment and S3 tried to tell us it’s a good thing.
Jim didn’t love Beelzebub. Gabriel did. He needed his memories for a reason. Anthony doesn’t know or love Aziraphale. He loves a completely different guy. Which is nice and all. But I wanted to see Aziraphale and Crowley happy. Safe. Free. I wanted them to stay in my universe. I thought we shared it!
I get what people mean about their dear ones when they lose memories. I care what people say about their own lost memories. I'd never say they were replaced by another person. But that's not at all what we are talking about here. It's a new universe with brand new people. (Which if determinism is not true and god is gone should not look like the old ones?)
And I am glad if you found comfort and happiness in S3! I wish I did too.
But to me Aziraphale and Crowley are gone - their love started the new universe and I am sure it was powerful enough to be everywhere and all that (I could have maybe even liked it if S3 was done better and I didn't get attached to Aziraphale and Crowley so much). It's just not the ending I craved. Or needed. Or find rewarding. As much as I like a deep philosophical conversation, I just wanted them to have one another. Safely. And for as long as they wished.
Another hand-drawn tapestry for @in-love-with-my-car-zine vol 2! (Which only took slightly less time to draw than it would have been to embroider it for real.)
"The Cottage" 4 page comic about an Angel doing future plans and a Demon who slowly connecting the dots.
My aziracrow comic I did for Ace Omens Zine vol. 2!
It was one of my first time doing a comic but I'm so happy I had the opportunity to draw this little idea I had in mind!
I'm lowkey manifesting this to happen in season 3 (I'm just manifesting season 3 happening actually)
Exclusivity has ended! @itbeganinagardenzine was a joy to be a part of, and if you want to get your own copy, there's a couple left to get! Proceeds go to UNICEF! End goal is they'll always end up in the South Downs, and I'm glad to see so many wonderful versions of them doing so. :)
Barber? I Hardly Know 'Er!
My comic for @bildadzine ft BeardyButch!Crawley and OstensibleFemme!Aziraphale! Because surely the concept of 'one of us is the ''''''man'''''' in public so we can kiss' has been in practice far longer than we have had the terms to describe it.
