đ A Cry for Help: My Familyâs Struggle to Survive in Gaza đ
Hello, my name is Areej Kassab. Iâm a 27-year-old English teacher and writer from Gaza, and Iâm reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for support. My family and I are enduring unimaginable hardships as relentless bombings devastate our home and our dreams.
We are a family of 15â10 adults and 5 children. Every day is a battle for survival. Food is scarce, humanitarian aid is not reaching us, and my little nieces and nephews go to bed hungry. Among them is my sister, who is deaf, and another sister who has a newborn baby. They, too, are suffering in this crisis, and Iâm doing everything I can to protect and provide for them.
đ A Life in Ruins The war has robbed us of everything: safety, peace, and even the hope of a future here. My familyâs needs are basic yet criticalâfood, clean water, diapers for the babies, gas for cooking, and other essentials to make it through each day.
With rising prices and limited access to necessities, we are struggling to provide even the most basic items. My sisterâs home has been destroyed, and we are working together to ensure everyone has shelter, food, and warmth.
⨠My Plea for Your Support ⨠Iâm a writer, and Iâve been documenting the harsh realities faced by my community under siege. But words can only do so much. We need action, and we need help. Your kindness can save us.
đ How You Can Help
Donate: Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to securing the essentials we desperately need.
Share Our Story: If you canât donate, please share this post to help us reach others who can.
Your support will help provide food for the children, clean water for my family, and basic supplies to help us survive this unimaginable crisis.
My name is Melissa and I am supporting Areej to help her family surviv⌠Melissa Saul needs your support for Emergency Evacuation for Aree
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing in solidarity with us. Together, we can create a lifeline for my familyâa chance to live, to dream, and to hope again.
With love and gratitude, Areej Kassab â¤ď¸
The creature who fell in love with the light
[Watercolor and gouache, based on âThe Fog Hornâ by Ray Bradbury]
its been p common knowledge for decades that light pollution can be massively reduced by just putting shades on streetlamps, and that doing that would save energy, help wildlife, and let us see the stars better, but are society says if u wanna change any minor little tiny thing u gotta dedicate ur whole life to campaigning for it and this is a good ways down the list of priorities for most ppl, so instead i gotta walk past newly-installed streetlamps that are just dumb glass globes that use half their electricity to blast half their light directly into the sky where it does only bad things for no reason and think "we should overthrow the government"
But also consider joining DarkSky international , which can educate you on what you can do locally, and where you can also check to see if you have a nearby chapter.
If youâre not one already, become a DarkSky member and receive our periodic action alerts giving you the opportunity to have your voice hear
darksky international has put out graphics about this, one of which i took note of because it got shared widely (it went around on tumblr, reddit, got reproduced in different forms on various blogs and websites), even though it is unfortunately incorrect. darksky intl themselves realized that, so for the folowing year's dark sky week they shared a corrected version, which i haven't seen shared quite as often as the previous one.
here is the first (incorrect!!) version:
and here is the corrected version they used the following year:
because yes, the one that was initially labeled "better" does in fact deserve the label "bad" â any kind of convex surface that is not completely shielded will scatter light above the horizontal line (despite the graphic using a horizontal line, making it incorrect in that sense still), which is what you want to avoid!
a ray of light shining straight into the sky at a 90° angle will travel 10km and then exit the troposphere. a ray of light emitted at 1° above the horizontal line will, if unimpeded, travel more than 250km before exiting the troposphere.
ALTand here is the
corrected version they used

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
123movies & putlocker provide more for the people of this country than the army has ever
At least the army doesnât take the money creators could have made. And is also not stealing anyoneâs content. ^^
they kill people
your scent processing being so close to memory in your brain is insane sometimes you step outside and take a whiff and go "ah, it smells like playing pokemon emerald in my third grade afterschool program in the crisp september of 2006"
