Ideas For Getting the Most From Lectures:

BEFORE THE LECTURE:

Find out how changes to the timetable are notified to students.

Identify the lecture topic and do some reading beforehand.

Be on time.

Look at how many lectures are allocated to each topics. This can be important in balancing your effort when it comes to revising.

Switch off your phone so that you’re not tempted to browse Tumblr or Facebook or whatever.

DURING THE LECTURE:

Write the name of the lecturer, the date and the topic.

Keep a written record of each lecture, including handout annotations or personal notes.

Evolve your own abbreviations for quicker notetaking based on common words or phrases for that topic.

Note points of emphasis.

Note any references.

AFTER THE LECTURE:

Clarify any points you didn’t understand.

Go over your notes within 24 hours.

Follow up references.

Think about the ideas that were covered in the lectures.

Compete any additional coursework.

Note down your own ideas and questions about what has been taught.

Compare the lecture objectives and the material.

TO ANYONE LIVING IN THE UK

There is a petition to try and call another referendum about the EU, with a rule asking for a 60% majority before a decision is made. Yes this is a shitty time, but hopefully there’s still a chance to fix things. The Leave campaign have already gone back on some of their promises before the referendum, so please, if you can, can you sign this? If we get 100 000 signatures parliament have to debate it, so please. Even if you’re not in the UK if you can share this to try and get it out there, that would be fantastic. Here’s the link:
