putting this on here as well even though I've explained some of this in asks or that old masterpost. a while ago I was writing a better explanation of my au and it's very much not finished but here are the sections about the ghosts and memory spaces + a little basic timeline stuff
hello infiglo!!! I love your art, the way you stylize eyes is genuinely like eye candy to me 🫶 especially the lashes!!
I wanted to ask, have you ever drawn anyone from TNK (The New Kid, Fazbear Frights)? :) thank you for your time, and have a good day 💙
Uhhh I think I started drawing kelsey a while ago but I didn't post it? But I'll probably draw all the main characters from tnk at some point. Also thank you!
Hihi got curious, do Jake and Andrew also have separated agont ghosts in your other au?
the dead kids aren't separated between spirits/agony ghosts in my side au so no, and the memory space stuff also doesn't exist they're just ghosts in the real world
i think eleanor is a good antagonist for fazbear frights actually
the main issue is (of course) the execution. I don't blame people for being confused about Eleanor, I used to be as well. But I think it's unfortunate that the way she's perceived by the fandom is made worse by both people who like and dislike her not putting in any effort to try and look at her character in a way that makes sense with the story she's part of.
The writing choices I take issue with in the stitchwraith stingers are the way she's re-introduced in the stingers too late, she doesn't have any prior connection to Larson before they fight each other at the end, her backstory isn't explained enough, and the inclusion of the Talberts in largely unnecessary and her connection to them through the necklace makes her character more confusing to the readers than it should be. What I don't dislike is the fact that she becomes the main antagonist of the series and that she's revealed to be behind a bunch of the fazbear frights stories.
I believe, based on all the information we're given in the books, that Eleanor was created from William Afton's emotions during the murders and exists as a sort of manifestation of what he wants to be/do; she's the embodiment of his evil. If this was made more obvious in the books I wonder if as many people would complain about her being the one responsible for tormenting a bunch of people with fazbear ent related items/animatronics. Despite her not appearing as herself in the stories besides To Be Beautiful, I believe most of the stories confirmed to involve her have similar themes of the main character wanting something and getting it, but it ends up trying to kill them or causing them to die in some way. Not only is that similar to what she did in To Be Beautiful, imo it's also similar to the way we saw Afton lure the children he killed. (This reddit post, although I don't agree with everything in it, goes into more detail about this that I'm too lazy to write here myself.)
Since these stories presumably take place after FNAF 6 and it seems like most of if not all of the spirits besides Charlie and Andrew are gone, I'm not sure who would serve as a better explanation for why all of these fnaf related objects are causing people to get hurt or die. I guess maybe some people would prefer they were just stand-alone stories where the reason for the supernatural events was left ambiguous or we were supposed the objects were possessed by agony alone without it ever expanding on whose agony made them that way. Personally I don't really see how that would make the stories any better, especially since we have other Fazbear Frights stories like that and despite them having interesting ideas, they don't feel as connected to FNAF to me.
A few years ago people used to hype Eleanor up as the next big fnaf villain and hope she was coming to the new games after Security Breach, but I feel like a lot of those people were missing the point of her character. I don't necessarily think it would be impossible to work her into a steel wool era storyline, but I generally think she would feel out of place. The Stitchwraith story fills in the timeline gap between FNAF 6 and Security Breach (whether you think the characters are canon or not) and mostly feels like wrapping up things from the FNAF 1-6 Era up. The spirit who was keeping William alive moves on, William finally dies, and then through the defeat of Eleanor, Jake is able to free all the victims that were killed during this time period as a result of William's actions creating Eleanor. I feel like taking Eleanor and putting her in the pizzaplex or something with a whole new backstory would just feel like a different character.
I think people like the concept of this extremely powerful evil mastermind female antagonist... and while Eleanor is powerful enough, the reason she had so many victims wasn't because she was extremely smart or even extremely powerful, it's because she was a supernatural entity with obvious advantages over humans that allowed her to kill them or get in their heads. Eleanor doesn't need to be "the strongest fnaf animatronic" to be an interesting character, so it's a shame her writing is so vague that it confuses a lot of people and her large kill count is the only thing they latch onto.
Like I said, I have issues with the writing in the stingers (didn't even mention all of them lol), but a lot of the criticisms of Eleanor come from people who seem to just be confused why she of all characters would be chosen for the main antagonist of the series. I have no idea if Eleanor was always meant to be what she turned out to be since the first book, but either way at the very least you can tell the direction her character ended up being taken by epilogue #7. The reason why she looks like Circus Baby could be another post because this is already long enough.. (I mentioned it a little in my older Eleanor post but my opinion has changed somewhat.)
Anyways the reason I'm making this rant is because I'm kind of tired of the way a lot of people exaggerate how terrible of a character Eleanor is. I wouldn't call her well-written, but that's like...90% of all fnaf characters. I have a ton of complaints about how Afton is written in both the books and games that came after TSE, but he doesn't get nearly as much flack for being a poorly written villain. I keep seeing people talk about her being overrated but 10 people on tiktok making videos about her soloing every other animatronic and shipping her with the mimic doesn't change the fact that most people in this fandom don't know her, don't really care about her, or actively dislike her!! I'm just tired of people acting like there's no reason to like her, because I lowkey used to let those opinions convince me I liked her for no reason when that's nawt true
Simple question: is the concept of the Agony Ghosts something from your AU or something that already exists in the main lore of FNaF? I just wanted to know that because it's a question I've been asking for a while now :)
In the actual FNAF lore, agony itself can possess things and entities can be made from agony or other emotions, like novel Charlie or Eleanor. However each dead kid having their own individual agony ghost who operates separately from the original spirit is something I came up with for my AU.
