Hey, I'm Ronan or Ro, actually you can call me anything as long as it's not 'Too late for tea' (Shut up, i know it's not funny anymore, I don't care.) I live in the UK and am studying towards a degree in English Literature with the Open University.

This is purely an introductory post, nothing majorly important. I keep meaning to upload something, but I keep forgetting. I wanted to use this space to upload any short pieces of writing I might write, but also any doodles or art I work on as I also love drawing. It's just an artsy space.

“Cats don’t actually love you”

A cat is a small creature in the middle of the food chain that is fully aware that you are a very large thing that could stomp its head in at any moment and yet it chooses to rest its tiny little head on your leg for a nap and spreads out on the floor near you exposing its belly and its most sensitive organs. It brings dead mice and bugs to you to share food.

Don’t you get it? This tiny thing trusts you. It wants to help you too. It licks your leg thinking that it’s helping. It kneads on you to find comfort. It shares its body warmth with you in the cold and gives you your space in the heat. It hisses at other mammals it sees outside including other cats in an effort to protect its family.

Cats love you so so much. But they will keep trying to eat plastic.

Something I have to do at the moment is write a daily Haiku. Poetry and haiku aren't my go-to when it comes to creative writing. So this might just last the week, or I might keep it up, we'll see. I started on Tuesday

September 30th (Day 1)

The morning sun bright

Rising later and later

Winter is coming

Gani

(Whoa, not me making an account and then not using it this entire time for it's intended purpose)

So this is Gani and I love them. I recently got some really pretty dice as a present (Bottom right corner of the image is what they look like) and I don't get much opportunity to play D&D I feel like, but I designed (2 characters, actually. But Gani is probably my favourite because Dragons). Anyway, despite probably unlikely getting a chance to play them, I wrote up their backstory.

From a young age, Gani was taken in by a monastery of strange yet welcoming ways; a religious household willing to take on scum orphan like themself. Naive and little did Gani know, this religious order were invested in the ways of the occult whom had been watching the child for a while and saw them to be the key to devilish deeds they intended to fulfil. One night they bound Gani down to a table; they don't remember much of that night, but they remember enough: They remember how the binding around their wrists and ankles itched and burnt, hey remembered the bizarre unrecognisable chanting, louder than their own blood-curdling screams as they choked on their own tears and sick, they even remembered the smell of sulphur and cinnamon. Worst of all; they remember the little nasty vial of blood being forced down their throat. What they don't remember is escaping. Sometimes the thoughts of that night affect Gani so much, they consume them so much that they become unaware of their surroundings and the world in motion around them. They woke up one day, far from the wreckage of the occultic affairs, a little shifting-in-colours dragon on their chest. They had no idea when the dragon could have shown up, but it seemed far too small and young to get itself there and surely it must have come from an egg, but there was no known Dragon's nest nearby. All Gani knew was they woke up with a clearer mind, feeling healed and rested for the first time in a long time and now they had a dragon to care for. Gani's past felt like enough trouble for one lifetime. That said, they often find themselves amongst more chaos; but when life gets too much or they see making a difference isn't a viable option, they lie to themselves. 'Live and let live', Meddling will only breed further trouble and further chaos. They live a life more or less on the run, now. Wondering from place to place and on their own, leeping to themselves where they can help it. They live with the faintest itch that oneday, they'll have to face their past once more and confront them for what happened to them all those years ago. For now, they keep their secrets close to their chest, reluctant to share and let in, even if it might be what they need most of all.
