Meet Edith - an avenday child :D Turns out, some birds do lay eggs...
Papa Sunday used to be very anxious and overbearing, dancing between strict and overprotective upbringing. Edith and his relationship was suuper rocky because of this in her early teens, and especially when her short "I hate pink" phase reminded him how he himself had to mask his personality almost all his life. But eventually Edith got her papa to lock tf in and go to therapy. Ever since that, they've been incredibly close, and Sunday is her choice number 1 when she needs help
Aventurine was the opposite - a distant parent. He was really scared to fuck everything up and put distance between Edith and himself, just letting her do whatever she wants, giving her money for that and avoiding deep relationship. So for a long time he was the cool dad that allows everything, but Edith sensed the bullshit in her early teens and confronted him (before confronting Sunday). It took Aventurine much longer to cgange himself than Sunday, but in the end ig all worked out :)
Shadow Milk started messing with Doughael out of spite, just because the latter was close with Pure Vanilla once. To his surprise, Shadow Milk started actually caring about the religious fanatic he had manipulated into worshipping him
I'm not finishing the art, so I'll just drop it and the lore here
Mr. Lopee isn't the main antagonist, but he's definitely not the hero either. Mr. Shade is the BBEG. He has Navi-pupils :P
More below the cut:
EVE
Sea Elf (with Fey ancestry). Wizard
All Sebastian, Pandemonium and Eve had sea creature related topics, but I didn't want any of them to have the same race. Seb and Pandi's were easy to pick, but Eve had no obvious options. I searched the Internet to find any race I could relate to sea creatures, and settled on sea elfs. Besides, what kind of dnd party it is if you don't have a wizard elf? Jk, it was actually a coincidense. I was looking for telepathic powers for Eve, and it was obvious I needed to make her a wizard for that juicy Hypnotic Gaze spell
Eve and Pandemonium are cousins, both born at the same time under a gaze of a mysterious eldritch entity. They both were blessed - or maybe cursed - with the powers to see. Eve was born blind, so one part of her power is the floating eyeballs she can see through. The second part is the Hypnotic Gaze spell. It's not just a spell, it's a cantrip she can use at any moment. However, her strength is also her weakness, since the floating eyeballs are sensitive to the bright light and Eve can be easily blinded for a short period of time
MARY
Fey (ghost in Fey's body). Warlock
I had some trouble picking both Mary's race and class. Standing from the original game POV, there wasn't much to go off, so I looked for somehing to relate to the fact that Imaginary Friend can only be seen after interacting with a certain artifact - hence, a ghost in my mind. After that, she needed a body and a reason why she's still alive, so the idea of a deal with Mr. Lopee came in. Naturally, it led to her class being a warlock, and I decided to make her the healer of the group
Mary doesn't remember who she used to be, nor how she died, but she was stuck in the limbo state as a ghost for a while, before a green eldritch entity appeared in front of her. While Mary doesn't remember the exact deal she made with - as he introducd himself - Mr. Lopee, she knows that she owes him something. After that Mary woke up in a Fae body and got new powers as a Warlock with Mr. Lopee as her benefactor. Mary has healing powers and she has to heal herself with a special ritual from times to times to prevent this body from decaying. On occasion, she can even leave the body for a short time and be a ghost again. She was quite happy to live peacefully, until one day, many years after her revival, Mary started having nightmares. In them, Mr. Lopee told her to find something (she could never remember what after waking up), and her body would rot if she disobeyed. After Mary set on the adventure to find whatever Mr. Lopee wants her to get for him, the nightmares stopped. Soon enough, she bumped into Eve and Pandemonium
PANDEMONIUM
Locathah. Barbarian
The barbarian part was so easy I was worried about being too obvious, but it suits him nontheless, so it works. And I chose locathah as a race because triton was already taken by Sebastian, and because the appearance kinda matched his vibe
Pandemonium can see what others can't. He always has advantage on all perception checks, and can see the "true nature" of anything - be it a person in disguise, a ghost, a trap, or something else. He has always been rather violent and hot-headed, and the fact that he kept feeling like something green was watching him and his cousin Eve didn't help. His paranoia became too strong, causing him to lash out at everyone, and eventually he hot kicked out. Eve joined him because she knew it wasn't just fear - it was real, it watching them was real. So they decided to see what that is, realising they will never be free until they at least talk to it
SEBASTIAN
Triton. Rogue
The race and class choice was kinda obvious when I was making Sebastian. He's a triton, though he still has a human mindset, and a rogue. In the game Sebastian shows both physical strength and abilities to manipulate others to do what he wants. If possible, he avoids direct confrontation, unless enraged, and prefers to pull the strings from the shadows or to ambush the enemy, launching a surprise attack. What I did have to think about was whether I should give him the legs - like dnd tritons, or leave him with the tail since he doesn't have any problems moving outside water
Sebastian was a human, until one day he was accused of murder and excecuted. However, death didn't come, for when Sebastian opened his eyes, he saw an eldritch entity doing something with his soul. Sebastian woke up in a triton body, confused, but with all his memories. After an accident he also realised that he can't die - the same green entity keeps his soul's shards together. Sebastian set to this adventure to understand why he was reborn and what this entity wants from him. After that, he would love to go back to his family, but not until he's sure they won't get caught in the crossfire
SKY
Autognone. Bard
I originally was going to make him an artificer, but changed my mind later. Sky is an artist, he likes drawing, and in this setting he's more than happy to learn to play a few music instruments, especially since Sebastian plays the lyre (no electric guitars in dnd lol)
Sky was created alongside a few other autognomes to help gnomes-artificerers. They lived in a small commune near a mountain village, with beautiful views and nature. After the work day was over, Sky's creator often took him to star gaze, teaching Sky the beauty of art - painting, composing music, etc. One day, the village got raided. Useful mechanisms - like Sky - were taken for exploting. Later Sebastian found and rescued him. They've been best buds / brothers ever since. Sky didn't know why Sebastian is taking a journey, but still jojned him, having nowhere else to go. Later he found out about the truth. Even later they met up with Eve, Mary and Pandi, realising almost all of them were connected to the entity (unknown to them, Sky was connected too - his heart is one of the Crystal shards they're looking for on this journey; I wonder what happens when they will need the last shard 🤭). They shared information and set on the journey together
Kinda hope they raise the stakes. For everything Vic's been through, his revenge seems very... meaningless. Like, it was a mild annoyance that all the pictures and documents got deleted, but I was really hoping Vic would, like, hack into electricity and freaking zap Alan straight to hospital (failed murder attempt) or smth. Waiting until the next episode to hopefully see Vic's full revenge plan 🙏
Vic wears 2 rings: one is his own, and one is Mitsi's
Vic only has one scar - on his neck. He got it from the lasso the day he escaped. All other scars were deleted every time Vic died. And it makes Vic value this one remaining scar, in a way - it shows that what he's been through was real, and that he survived
Also, about Mitsi. I've said it before and I'll say it again. No matter how much I might want to see cute vitski couple, I would hate it if Mitsi got revived. Reviving characters is so cheap. Having said that, here's an idea:
Mitsi gets revived. But it's not her. She's not real, Dark is just using a simulacra of sorts to get Vic to help him. With time, Vic understands that "Mitsi" is fake. Here's a little doodle of this scenario:
Vic realizes that his technology lets open codes of any object - including living sticks. He makes a clone of himself, and opens both codes. He starts a new project with a goal to be able to change aspects of sticks: delete the code of their lethal disease, erase harmful personality traits, give them better health, etc. One day, Vic erases all the code of his clone and only leaves the one that makes it function, then saves. The stick is confused, and as new code is created in front of Vic's eyes, the latter realizes he's just created life. He sees the photo of Mitsi and him. Vic briefly pauses, then slowly types in Mitsi's name in the newborn's code. Before he applies the changes, Vic suddenly remembers Alan, and realizes he's doing the same thing - experimenting on a stick. Vic doesn't save, deletes the clone alltogether and shuts everything down. He takes the files on the project and writes "cancelled" on the front page.
After Sunday left Penacony, he started to have dreams - real dreams. Every night his mind would create scenarios. Sometimes it's nightmares about his past life, but sometimes it's a beautiful dream where he's happy. When Sunday wakes up, he's always crying. He can't choose what's worse: seeing nightmares or happy dreams.
You know what I need? SP Sunday. I know he's unlikely to get it, I just really want more of him 😔 With all those etherial designs by the fans, I wish we can get smth like this, but in canon
I like Berdly and Tenna so much, but I have a feeling that Asriel is going to become my favourite Deltarune character, purely because Flowey is my fav in Undertale
(Please be an antagonist again. Please be an antagonist again. Please be an antagonist again. Please be an antagonist again)
I was very upset with MLP writers making Chrysalis not care for her hive, so here's my little rewrite of her back story to explain her refusal to cooperate + a drawing
In the past changelings lived together with the crystal ponies*, doing labour in exchange for their love (which was painful for ponies, but their crystal forms were too fragile for physical jobs, so they agreed). But after Sombra became the ruler, he banished all changelings. They were left to rot, nobody accepted them, and thus the Great Starvation began.
* not neccesserily crystal ponies and Sombra, but it adds more tension and reason for attacking Cadence and Shining Armour. In this rewrite, when "Grogar" releases the 4 villains, Chrysalis and Sombra refuse to cooperate at all.
Chrysalis was born during that time, and not long after that her mother - the previous queen - died. Chrysalis became the new queen extremely early, she had to learn and adapt: everyone both had high expectations of her and thought she was too young to rule.
Seeing how the Great Starvation was wiping her people out, Queen Chrysalis went to the Crystal Empire to ask King Sombra to let the changelings return and live in symbiosis with the crystal ponies once again. The changelings were mostly against this, but followed their queen's orders. Unfortunatelly, it was a trap. King Sombra wanted to wipe out the entirety of the changeling race, seeing them as a threat. The hive lost a lot, 2/3 of the entire changeling population died to protect the Queen. After that Chrysalis stood in front of the remaining changelings and made a promise that the hive will no longer even think about cooperation with anypony else, that they will always be her priority and she will always do everything to keep them well-fed. And she kept that promise.
After that Chrysalis realised no pony was going to give them a hoove, and she changed the course of action. She came up a plan to ambush a lonely pony village. It was a success, and the changelings began to regain their lost hope. Ambush after ambush - the hive never stayed in one place for too long, always nomadizing. The changelings grew stronger and stronger, finally not hungry anymore.
Until the changelings found a new way to feed - to give love. Born in starvation and raised to believe the ponies will always betray, Chrysalis refused to change, sticking to her old ways of surviving. In the new hive, there were only a couple changelings old enough to witness the Great Starvation. They still love and respect Chrysalis, despite living with the hive, too old to leave it.
In this rewrite, Chrysalis isn't as old as in the comic books / show, but she still ages slower than her subjects, hence only a bunch of elderly changelings first hoove witnessed the Great Starvation and the wipe out after the cooperation attempt failed. The rest don't understand why Chrysalis refuses to work with the ponies.
Meanwhile, Chrysalis is torn between forgetting about the hive alltogether and preparing a shelter for when they inevitably get betrayed by the ponies. But in the end, she saw her subjects take the side of the very same species that had already almost caused their extinction, and she's petty like that.
