Hey all you followers—Homestucks, Whovians, whathaveyous! Do you remember Clockstopper? I sure do! That was a lot of fun to make and even more fun to watch the play count go up and the reblogs go insane. :D So what is this? -[=> // Reblogging as well because I'm also in the band. // Please check it out and share it if you like it. //
-[=> // Trying out the new Vic Firth Gavin Harrison signature sticks. // Note the smooth transition from shoulder to bead and the blue grip material. //

Hey Homestuck fandom, let's talk about Owl City for a bit
Have I got your attention?
GOOD.
Now, let’s talk about Owl City.
Specifically, let’s talk about how Owl City making a passing mention of Homestuck on his Twitter feed had some people going “omg he’s gonna make the music!” while, you know, the people who are ALREADY MAKING MUSIC FOR HOMESTUCK GO UNNOTICED.
Pardon my French, but: What. The. FUCK.
How much of the fandom actually knows that a music team exists? How much of the fandom cares about them? How many people have bought the music just cause “oh it’s Homestuck” without sparing a single thought to the people who actually made the music? Or perhaps that’s only worth talking about if it’s made by somebody famous. Yeah. Real nice.
Pop quiz. You’ve heard Elevatorstuck in what, 11 pages now.
Who wrote it?
What about Infinity Mechanism? Frost? Even in Death? Friggin’ Cascade?
If you can’t answer any of that, you’d better pay attention and start appreciating the people who brought you these sweet tunes.
Fandom: This is the Homestuck music team. Get acquainted before anyone says another friggin word about Owl City.
i knew something was bothering me about this whole owl city thing but i couldn’t put a finger on it
listen to the dude he knows what’s up
Can this please get thousands of notes
please
edit: actually you know what I am going to reblog this once a day until it has thousands of notes
well okay then
As someone who contributed to a piece on ColoUrs and mayhem, I would like to signal boost this as well.
And another song for Dave
I decided to listen to this one again and, nearly a year and a half later, it’s still good! Here’s the blurb from NG:
Hello once again, NG! This is the eleventh of 26 submissions (or so) that I’ll upload this year for a project entitled Project 26. This project is in collaboration with NG user Chocosoda (check him out!) Each other week in 2011, I’ll upload a musical piece for a total of 26.
It’s March, and that means it’s FFVIII month. What better way to celebrate the release of Suckerpunch (which I went out to see tonight — and you totally should, too!) than with a nice boss theme to round out your weekend?
This is “Force Your Way,” the boss theme from FFVIII (duh), with a few instrument changes, part modifications and a new drum track. In other words, this is a by-the-books Joshy676 job. xD
And, this week, Chocosoda collaborated with me on this one. It’s good to have him back.
TIME/TEMPO: 1’54”/180 BPM (4/4 time, with a measure of 5/4 and a measure of 6/4) KEY: E minor/F# minor/A minor ORIGINAL THEME: “Force Your Way” by Nobuo Uematsu MIDI TRANSCRIPTION: “SinclairC” at VGMusic.com
SOUNDFONTS USED (* denotes a new soundfont): -Bass Naturally Decaying Guitars 2 (Finger Bass 2) -Instruments SPYRO’S Pure Oscillators (Sine3, Inv. Sine3) -Organ Rock Rotor Fast (Hard Rock Organ) -Yamaha Custom Drumkit (Sticks, Snares On, Maple Snare) -Strings Kurzweil 44.1KHz (PC88 Marcato Strings)*
Epiphone Custom Shop Silverburst Les Paul recorded in Zynewave Podium Free via Line6 POD2 through Behringer Guitar-USB adapter.
Arranged and rendered in FL Studio 9.
Enjoy! Don’t forget to leave a review and check out my other works — and also check back to see the remixed version at the end of the month. Subscribe to the RSS feed of my submissions so you don’t miss one! :D

Note to self: don’t take on year-long multiple-project endeavors without a concrete plan (and plenty of prep)!
Clockstopper is literally the most perfect song to come out of that contest album
Just saying.
Thank you very much! :D
stolenvampires reblogged your audio post: I present my first submission to the Homestuck…
get this just So good.
Yup. http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/466582
Your music is fucking amazing.
Thanks! :)
Here we are, NG. This is the twenty-sixth and final entry of Project 26. A combined 40 hours between me and Chocosoda went into this ending track, between the writing, recording, mixing, remixing and mastering processes (not to mention the software crashes, OH SHIT UNDO actions and other time wasters), but it's finally done.
We consulted a college level textbook on the art of mixing in order to get the soundscape just right for this piece. The result is nothing short of beautiful, in our collective opinion.
Now, many of you have probably never heard of, much less read Homestuck (and let me tell you about Homestuck...), so the material in "Dave" will likely be new stuff. Hopefully you'll enjoy listening to new things; otherwise, prepare to be disappointed by the fact that this isn't a video game remix. Hey, we DO do more than just video game remixes!
Where was I? Oh, right. This piece centers around themes from Homestuck for the character Dave Strider, the Knight of Time. Dave is an all-around badass whose lifestyle revolves around multiple layers of irony, creating music, partaking in TIME SHENANIGANS, and killing shit with broken swords.
This isn't the completely finished product, though. Choco and I are submitting this piece to the Homestuck Music Contest, where it will be featured in the next Homestuck album if it wins (and that means it's now a piece of commercial music). That means, if it's on NG, we're violating our own copyright by having it available for free when it shouldn't be. This file, however, is the unmastered final cut, so it's technically a different file with a different (Creative Commons) license (and you can totally tell because we didn't even bother to chop off the nine seconds of silence at the end). I'll upload the mastered version if we don't win, though. :P
TIME/TEMPO: 5'55"/127/135/120/160/105 BPM (4/4 and 6/4 time) KEY: C Minor ORIGINAL THEMES: "Beatdown (Strider Style)" and "Beatdown Round 2" by Curt Blakeslee, "Atomyk Ebonpyre" by Toby "Radiation" Fox and "Upward Movement (Dave Owns)" by Robert Blaker. Some melodic work in the breakdown of "Beatdown" by Joseph Brown (chocosoda/viaSatellite). MIDI TRANSCRIPTIONS: "Beatdown (Strider Style)" and "Atomyk Ebonpyre" by MrCheese on the MSPA forum. "Upward Movement" was transcribed for piano by BRPXQZME on the MSPA forum.
SOUNDFONTS USED (* denotes a new soundfont): SGM v2.01 (Shakuhachi, Koto, Room Kit) Musica Theoria (Standard Kit 1) Metal Drums* (MetlDrums 3 Soak) Bass Multiple Rock Guitars (FBass w/Harms #2) Strings Florestan Strings Florestan Martellato Caltronix MegaSound GS* (Violin) EchoMoog Lead* CymbalRoll 2* Drum Set Vinyl V1* (Funkdrum 1, Funkdrum 2, Funkdrum 4, Funkdrum 8)
Guitar tracks recorded using an Epiphone Custom Shop Silverburst Les Paul directly into FL Studio 9 via Rocksmith Guitar to USB connection. Written in Guitar Pro 5; recorded, mixed and (roughly) mastered in FL Studio 9.
Enjoy! Don't forget to leave a review and check out my other works. Subscribe to the RSS feed of my submissions so you don't miss one! :D
