theres a phenomenon that happens on here i have been calling "normalize loving parents posting" which is when you spend a lot of time on tumblr and are exposed to a lot of one specific counter-cultural narrative day in and day out until you start to forget what the dominant ideas are for most of the human population and thus feel the need to "defend" things that are widely accepted and popular. it's called this because of the time a bunch of text posts about shitty dads were circulating and then people with good relationships with their dad didn't feel included enough and started making "uhmmm can we normalize loving parents? not everyone has a deadbeat dad, MY dad is great" type posts, seemingly forgetting that good relationship with dad is a cultural norm that is expected and encouraged. i think its good practice, especially when im annoyed, to stop before i hit the post button and ask myself if this is a real issue or if im normalize loving parents posting. because often im about to try to normalize loving parents
common examples of normalize loving parents posting:
support women who shave their legs and wear makeup every day
let's hear it for masculine men
reminder that two people of the same gender can have a close platonic relationship!! not everything is gay!!
skinny shaming is hurtful too guys
does anyone else think [ironic kink du jour] is strange and freaky and gross?
saluting our bravest warriors who aren't afraid to stand up and advocate for the status quo

Unfortunately, my mother’s heart stopped during surgery today in Gaza and she is now in a coma. Ignoring this could cost her life.
My younger siblings are crying and I am in shock. Please donate to help save my mother’s life.

Guys, please don’t leave me alone in this nightmare. Share this widely.
Times like these I remember that Malcolm X quote about healing and how it requires acknowledging the knife is there. Things like "this isn't who we are" and "this is un-American" and "what are we? [insert another country]??" reveal a deep seated denial of American history and state-sponsored domestic terror that I'm just not gonna entertain anymore from leftists over the age of twenty.
Don't y'all ever get tired?
Like I remember when I first started using this site and every seemingly "new" progressive idea was credited to being birthed by tumblr. Obviously that was bigoted people being mindless, that said I don't think we'd have this proliferation of microlabels if it weren't for tumblr.
I'll forever be grateful for internet communities for helping me find a sense of belonging and normalcy when I was coming into my own. Doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of annoying shit that came from those communities as well.
Like I get that this you're so valid approach is a direct response to homophobia and transphobia and that's why for the most part I just roll my eyes and leave shit like this alone. But idk, sometimes I wonder what effect all this navel gazing has on our community and younger generations finding themselves.
It's this very hollow attempt at self reflection with no critical thought. No one's allowed to question whether these terms make any sense, without being dogpiled into oblivion. And you even suggest that maybe some of your sexuality could be informed by trauma? Maybe certain behaviors don't have to be permanent and you can work towards changing them if they cause you discomfort or strife in your romantic and sexual relationships? You don't have to accept them as immutable parts of your personality? YoU rE iNvALiDaTiNg- sometimes we aren't always valid 🤷🏾♂️
You're sex averse but also hypersexual. Sounds like a trauma response, not you being ace. You're demisexual cause you need a strong emotional connection before wanting to have sex. Incredibly normal behavior actually. So normal we don't even need a label for it. And because we must have label for evey single sexual behavior apparently, now we have "mega sexual"? It's okay if you like sex. It's okay if you don't want a romantic relationship without sex. It's okay if you're not willing to invest time into a romantic relationship without ensuring you're sexually compatible. These are very normal things. It's quite telling that some feel the need to label normal sexual behavior as "mega sexual".
Like I still roll my eyes at the no label people cause 99% it's just them refusing to confront their internalized homophobia. Have a whole tantrum if you call them gay cause they do gay shit but somehow never have an issue with being mistaken for straight.
That said, I can understand folks taking that approach when trying to wade through the sheer number of redudant and unnecesary terms in the larger lexicon nowadays.
Anyone older than my generation often didn't have the vocabulary to describe themselves that weren't literal slurs unless they were lucky to find communities or stumbled upon literature.
Now it's like my generaration over corrected. While it does seem to be safer for younger folks to explore their identity now, I do think their are some aspects that are a bit harder. This is also projection on my part because I find a lot of this overwhelming and it would've overwhelmed the hell outta me. Ultimately it's not the biggest deal at the end of the day, which is why I leave it alone (mostly 🤭). I just wish we weren't so averse to thinking critically about these things. Not everything needs to be validated and it's okay to admit when we're doing too much sometimes.

the world's smallest carnivore is called the "least weasel" 😭😭 i'm dying but like if it's the smallest carnivore then it sure is the least amount of weasel you can have 😭😭😭
Look at him: this is absolutely the least amount of weasel you can have
To really put it in perspective
Immediately I love him

the fact that anti racists still think veganism is nothing but a white luxury belief in 2026 is gettin kinda embarrassing. these drones are complete charlatans who shouldn’t be taken seriously 😭 and they need to stop posting noble savage memes about indigenous communities in defense of this childlike refusal to contend with the necessity of vegan politics. how much longer are yall willing to prop up your cowardice with lies. the industries connected to animal consumption and exploitation must be abolished. our consumption of meat and other animal products must and will be diminished greatly in any just society. there is no such thing as environmentalism without veganism. We are destroying the earth and our ability to live on it through the industrialized, overconsumption of wildlife and degradation of soil. and i say all of this as a meat eater. Critical support to billie eilish btw.
This week, May 4-8, is national week of action for MMIW. Here’s a few facts:
1: Homicide is roughly the third leading cause of death among Indigenous women ages 10-24.
2: 56.1% of indigenous women have experienced sexual violence, 55.5% have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner, and 48.8% have experienced stalking.
3: The Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that there were 10,248 missing Indigenous persons reports in 2024. 5,614 were women, and 4,626 were men. Most women reported missing were under the age of 18.
4: The 10 states with the highest rates of American Indian/Alaska Native missing persons cases in 2025 were AK, AZ, OK, WA, NM, CA, MT, NC, SD, and TX.
5: Because of limited data, there is no reliable nationwide count of how many Native women go missing or are murdered each year.
And finally:
Indigenous women are murdered at 10x the national average in the United States alone.
