i’m getting back into catholicism and i wanted to know if you have any book recs abt progressive christianity? especially by queer authors or involving queer themes?
first of all, congrats for getting back into Catholicism! i hope your journey is spiritually fullfilling regardless of where you end up.
secondly, i can personally reccomend Dayspring by Anthony Oliveiera. a beautiful piece of gay poetry told from the POV of St John the Beloved.
i also recommend reading about Liberation Theology and The Catholic Worker. speaking as a leftist these two labor movements were a big contributor in pushing me towards Catholicism and Christianity more broadly.
also a shoutout to Father James Martin, a major queer advocate within the church itself. he’s written a lot about the subject.
admittedly im pretty new to Catholicism myself so i can’t recommend much else but i hope this has been some help. once again i hope your journey leads to spiritual fullfilment regardless of where you end up, and ill be praying for you <3
The daughter he 😭😭😭😭never 😭😭😭😭had😭😭😭😭
the simple beauty of Mary, even admits bitter chills and cold
Some silly nuns to cover up all the weird nun-sexualizing jerks that have been taking over my blog lately

a compilation of posts that contributed to my conversion
image descriptions in alt
“I’m bored” Go spend time with God.
“I’m so anxious” Spend time with God.
“I don’t know what to do” Time with God.
“I feel so lost” With God.
“What if things get worse” God.
When you are lost, God will guide you, whether it be right now, or later.
Art with Jesus having the kindest eyes and the scruffiest beard gets me every time. Like he purposefully didn’t look ‘holy’ or ‘regal’ he was your neighbor. He was your carpenter.
doves and pigeons being basically identical scientifically speaking is so important to me.
the dove, the symbol of the Holy Spirit, of God's immeasurable love and mercy come to intercede for us. is the same bird as the common "flying rat" of the cities, the slums, the poor, dilapidated areas that most folk would never willingly go.
even there. there is God. and He comes scruffy and dirty
While I am aware Mitochondrial Eve and Y-Chromosomal Adam are named Adam/Eve only as a reference-- early researches had even said they regret the names-- when I think about them, our most recent ancestor from whom all of us are inferred to have descended, our Adam, our Eve, i get deeply emotional.
we can step 200,000, even 300,000 years back into the past and track them, the most recent individual to carry our DNA. Eve, not a stagnant, single woman anchored in history, but a moving line from mother to daughter. Adam, passing genetic data down a line we can follow until we are us.
I cannot help but see a living Creator in that. I cannot help but see Eden. I cannot help but see the wilderness beyond it. See our ancestors dressed in the clothes God sewed for them, who are not a single figure but instead flowing DNA, moving from line to line until the pattern is broken and a new Adam, a new Eve, emerges.
God flows, always moving, along that line. Mitochondrial DNA to Y chromosomes and more, knit together with Holy fingers inside the many Eves' shifting womb. We are messy, and wild, and trudging in that wilderness, and God said 'It Is Good'.
*I am but a simple man with subscriptions to evolution journals please forgive how scientifically bad and incoherent this is*
I did this for mikuday cuz it was also the first day of lent eheheh
im very fond of people drawing jesus like a very chill and nice guy
Figured I’d post this here, I’m not a particularly religious person, I’m actually very agnostic, but I did this piece for my grandma, plus, whether or not he was a prophet of god, I think Jesus still seems like a pretty sick guy.
Little doodles I did in class.
The first is of John the baptist. The second is of Mary and little Jesus making bread.
