A pool is a denial of time. The hallucination is ruined when one looks to the past (how did the water get here? What forces built the submergence of space? What have these chemicals purified?), made foolish when one looks to the future’s pruned fingers, putrid if foresight extends to the next cleaning by net, terrifying if the possibility of abandonment surfaces. The pool is the wavering encapsulation of a moment, our moment, made steady only through willful blindness to the memories, dreams, and nightmares seething beneath the echoed lap of that most ridiculous figure, the glass covered clock.

Drawing inspiration from similar events at cultural institutions such as MOMA PS1, Vooruit and the ICA, It’s Not U It’s Me and The Power Plant will transform the gallery into a space celebrating the diverse cultures and DIY community spirit of underground dance music with internationally renowned DJs, AV performance art, sculptural installations, and dance floors you can lose yourself in.

Come dance with us on July 9, July 30 and August 20, while the sun sets over the waterfront terrace, then head inside and align your body and mind in the sensory overload of our corridors and the three storey Harbourfront Centre Theatre. Break up with the mundane and rekindle the soul. This is the undiluted dancefloor sublime, straight from the source, where your sweat equity pays spiritual dividends.
