Hand grenade 手榴弹 shǒu liú dàn, literally ‘handheld pomegranate ammunition.’
Note that the English word 'grenade’ also comes from the French for pomegranate.
got called an ugly communist girl man this is the lamest 4chan shit i've read in awhile
tumblr will always mean a lot to me because it has been, at least, an opportunity to share information that is perhaps not clearly communicated in western media.
for the past several years i’ve struggled to articulate (bc i am not a writer, nor an expert in politics, nor even remotely educated on foreign policy) my feelings about the propaganda that was used to incite the war in iraq in 2003 & the identical propaganda that was used to justify invasion of the levant region via proxies like ISIS and Al-Qaeda in 2011. really, all that i’m qualified to speak on is what i’ve seen with my own two eyes. i’ve tried really hard to maintain that principle here.
And what I’ve seen continuously since 2003 is the regurgitation of the same propaganda by the same “reliable sources” for the same purpose: exerting control over the middle east and other nations of the global south.
#1 WMD (that did not exist) was the tagline for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. It has since been dismantled & rescinded by its very propagandists at the NYT.
#2 The U.S. funding “moderate rebels” and “freedom fighters” in the levant was the tagline for asserting control over the levant – this, again, by the NYT and the like, has been since dismantled and rescinded. We know now that these “moderate rebels” were ISIS and Al-Qaeda factions all along.
What has caused me the most distress and despair is that the same outlets – in particular news sources that are marketed as “reliable & respectable”, have been the ones to sell us the same lie over & over & over, yet these sources are not stripped of their validity.
The illegal assassination of Qassem Soleimani is ALREADY being hailed as a mission to kill a “terrorist” vs. the illegal assassination of the equivalent to an American vice president – an act of war
it is also missing from the record that Soleimani played a very large part in destroying ISIS, and with it, American funded proxies in the region that offered the U.S. influence and control.
What I predict is a similar repetition of the propaganda above:
#3 We needed to kill Soleimani because he is a terrorist. Now we need to invade Iran & Iraq to kill the others. We need to return to 2003.
What I am asking is that, this time, we reject any notion of American imperialism outright. destroy any justification for foreign invasion at all costs. no matter what the argument, american imperialism is a lie. reject it. reduce it to nothing. destroy it before it even has the chance to spread.
we are not going to be able to save the lives of any of the iranis or iraqis that will no doubt die in innocence.
but the LEAST we can do is reject the lie. it is the least we can do.
you are the biggest propagandist on this website and i’m really confused why leftists have given such a big platform to someone who puts “terrorist” in quotation marks?
1: iraq being invaded for WMD that didn’t exist has nothing to do with the current situation.
2: you know who else fought ISIS? AQ and the taliban. stalin fought the nazis. no argument there.
the assad regime has killed about around a million syrians and displaced thirteen million, ISIS has killed 5-10 thousand. yet we have idiots like you telling us videos like this and this are visual representations of a man who is not a terrorist fighting some of the biggest despots in the world…with no mention of how the assad regime’s sectarianism against sunnis (hama massacre, prison massacres, damascus spring, decades of abuse from the mukhabarat) led to a civil war. bc they should’ve just sat there and taken it, and denied themselves of any and all aid.
why act like there are good guys in geopolitics? like all states are not opportunist? instead you compare the killing of a man who has the blood of thousands on his hands (uh, illegally), to a VP whose presence and absence was never of any importance in the past couple decades of slaughter.
speak on his crimes: him starving syrian cities to death, overlooking the death of nearly a million people in besieged ones. ethnic cleansing of tens of thousands of iranians, syrians, iraqis, and yemenis. being responsible for spreading sectarianism into iraq and elsewhere. the IRGC’s terror attacks, who have killed thousands. the recent suppression of protests in iran and iraq.
3: and i know it’s hard for you to digest, but one can acknowledge the US is just as terrorist as the IR. we can reject american imperialism and acknowledge their abhorrent record while simultaneously realizing the other side is exporting terrorism and genocide for hegemony in the region. it’s possible.
THANK YOU.
It’s 2020 and this Pakistani male/female is still imposing his/her opinion on Iran? Yikes.
Fuck your WMD analogy. You know what wasn’t a lie? Saddams fucking genocide of kurds.
You know what wasn’t a lie? The civilian lives lost to Assads greed for power. His attempts to ethnicly cleanse Kurds, criminalization of our language and existence.
You know what wasn’t a lie? Soleimanis fight against our liberation, his regimes assassination of our leaders on foreign soil. Him sending afghan refugees to syria to die as cannon fodder and aid that murderous pig Assad. But yes the brutal shia theocracy helped fighting the sunni jihadists. It‘s like these people can‘t analyze beyond „amrika bad“
Fuck the us and fuck your terrorist hero
“To widen the scope for struggles against the social causes of the ecological crisis, we are obligated to cast off the banal conceptual discourse through which bourgeois society rationalises ecological crisis — as redolent in phrases such as “market environmentalism” and “green consumerism”. A basic prerequisite for the reinvigoration of a revolutionary, coherent, and rational ecology movement is for it to avoid the simplistic reduction of its social consciousness to a false dichotomy between the evils of “industrial civilisation” and a primordial “nature”.” - Shannon Brincat and Damian Gerber, The Necessity of Dialectical Naturalism: Marcuse, Bookchin, and Dialectics in the Midst of Ecological Crises
