❝ As improbable as it sounds, Bass, I guess we basically find ourselves in the exact same situation. ❞ Ever since Blair found out her best friend had sex with her boyfriend, the last thing she wanted was spending time with Serena or Nate since forgiveness did not seem to be taking over her heart so easily for the moment. Who’d have known Chuck Bass would someday become the first person to come to Blair’s mind when she needed someone she could trust?
❝ Is it bad I’m curious enough to be stupid and ask you what this idea of yours is? ❞ Chuck Bass was known for not being reliable. You could not trust him if you were a lady. Yet oddly enough, deep down her heart, Blair knew nothing could go too wrong when Chuck was around.
Well, Chuck has many ideas, really. There are a couple of high-society women they could humiliate – he has some dirt on them, and he knows Blair would love to make a grown woman cry. But there are no good events to do it at, so it wouldn’t be as fun.
Besides, he knows how much the new information has hurt her, even if he’s mostly heard it secondhand, and if there’s one thing Chuck Bass is good at, it’s bringing the party and helping you forget. So why not start there? “There’s a new club opening downtown in a couple of hours,” he says, smiling crookedly. “One of my lost weekend protegés is involved, I promised I’d stop by. Care to be my plus one? No hidden agenda.” He holds up his hands as though to show that he really doesn’t have anything to hide.
luminxscxncx:
breath hitched and cheeks turned a light shade of red as chuck stepped closer to her, immediately causing her to break his gaze, looking down at the floor. last week, he was just chuck. her friend, her partner in crime, even, someone she scoffed at when he bragged of his escapades and rolled her eyes at when said escapades got him into trouble. never did she think that he’d have her heart skipping beats or feeling so vulnerable.
it was an excitement that she never felt with nate, one that was preventing her from reaching out to push him away from her and storm out of the room at his words. “well it was a mistake.” she mumbled, trying to keep her voice as steady and stern as she could, even though there wasn’t an inch of her that regretted that night. “nate and i are going to get back together, we always do, we’re soulmates.” she said, trying to reassure herself more than him. lifting her head back up to look at him, she leaned her body as far back as she could into the door, trying to create more space between them.
and she was almost insulted by his next suggestion, that he would think for a second that blair was the kind of girl to sneak around with him like so many others have before. but maybe she was that kind of girl and she just didn’t allow herself to be. ‘always perfect, that blair waldorf’ was what people would say, but maybe she didn’t want to be like that anymore and she knew after their night together, that chuck saw right through that. “you have an entire little black book full of skanks to be your dirty little secret, go find one of them because i’m not interested.” she answered coldly. “like i said, as far as i’m concerned we never happened, so why can’t you just drop it chuck?”
Why can’t he just drop it? It’s the question he asked himself for hours while he replayed the feel of her smooth skin and arched back and hard lips. Physically, he’s had better. He’s had full nights of pleasure and multiple girls and things that would be illegal in most states – for good reason, probably. Physically, Blair’s nothing special, she’s just another one of his one-night-stands with a pretty girl who looked beautiful in her fall from grace; she’s just another angel he’s managed to corrupt and pull with him into Hell. Physically. Unfortunately, there’s more to life than physicality, as much as Chuck would love it if there weren’t.
Emotionally... Disgusting, he feels like Dan Humphrey just thinking that word. Pathetic Humphrey with his years long crush on Serena, his moon eyes whenever she’s near, his sneer when he’s convinced the Upper East Side is toying with poor, innocent Serena... all so fucking pathetic. He never wants to be like Dan Humphrey in any way, but most of all he doesn’t want to be in possession of all of these fucking butterflies when he knows they’ll just suffer, and he with them, because he’s incapable of handling anything like that. He doesn’t even want to try.
And yet when she looks back up at him, even though she’s created distance between them, it feels as though she’s physically removing all air from the room, and he can’t breathe unless his lips are on hers. But obviously she doesn’t want that, and he’s not a creep, so he stays put. It’s one thing to play, but he won’t touch her if she doesn’t want him to. He wants her to want him to, though.
Lip quivering slightly, he looks away from her and sets his jaw to school his features. His silence speaks. If he just said something like ‘ because I can’t forget that sweet ass ‘ or ‘ my best friend’s ex, that’s forbidden, and forbidden is hot ‘, it would be believable. He’s Chuck Bass; he’s supposed to be the disgusting perv. But it wouldn’t be the truth, and even though he generally has no problem with lying, when he looks at her, he can’t. He can’t say something like that, as much as it would also be a release to be pushed away.
Worrying his bottom lip with his teeth, he finally grits out, “Because I don’t want to.” It’s not much of an answer.

childhood & youth.
grew up in an upper middle class household as an only child to her mother, MADISON, and her father, DAVID, but didn’t have a very stable home life as her parents argued day and night
on thanksgiving when she was 9 years old, her parents announced that they were getting a DIVORCE – due to david realizing that he was gay
when the state granted madison custody of september, david took off for LAS VEGAS to start his drag career, while madison stayed in new york and continued writing her famous erotica
september spent a holiday or two in las vegas but was generally turned against her father by her mother and RESENTED him for leaving and falling outside of the norm
as september went through high school, though, she realized she was GAY, too, which led to quite a few years of self-resentment
when she was 17, madison found a PLAYBOY magazine hidden away in september’s room and put together the pieces. faced with her mother’s outrage, september ran away to las vegas and stayed with her father and his drag family for a month
during that month, they took her in and treated her like one of their own, and she’d never felt as much love as she did then, but when her mother showed up to persist that she loved september, september RETURNED home with her to new york (though promising to go to las vegas more often)
although madison hadn’t exactly turned over a new leaf and continued to passive-aggressively comment on both david and september’s ‘lifestyle choices’, september endured, and as soon as high school ended, she went off to COLLEGE where she met [’THE ROSS’].
september’s mixture of odd DAD JOKES and experimental clothing didn’t exactly reel in any babes, and when they did, she barely knew what to do with them. overall, she had a hard time in social situations.
present day.
she works as an ACCOUNTANT for a law firm, which isn’t exactly a dream job of hers, but it pays the bills
she used to SMOKE but quit four years ago – she still misses it, and if it weren’t for her friends, she’d probably go back to the cigarettes
due to her childhood, she’s terrified of COMMITMENT of any sort – but she doesn’t have any game that would make her an excellent fling, either, so she rarely has a girlfriend
she’s CLEVERER than people give her credit for, and her mathematical skills are impressive
she’s infamously bad at giving ADVICE, and has been known to create chaos whenever she accidentally imposes it on anyone – even though she always has the best intentions
to make up for her poor social skills and social anxiety, she talks A LOT when she’s around strangers or even acquaintances – it’s so that she doesn’t have to stop and think about what a train-wreck she’s creating

As far as timing goes, this is her best-slash-worst yet. His shift has only just ended. The first threats of sunrise lighten the horizon from a star-studded pitch-black to a deep blue. He has considered signing up for day shifts instead, just to feel the sun on his face whenever he passes the windows –– though whether the sun would even manage to break through the winter clouds remains to be seen.
A ( selfish ) part of him wants to hold onto his night shifts out of trivial reasons, like being able to speak with Tasha or keeping an eye on Rose. The latter doesn’t seem to get into less trouble when she’s away from school. It’s only a matter of time before he finds her in a scandal involving Adrian Ivashkov or a different sort of outrage involving other Moroi royalty. Not a lot of Moroi appreciate a dhampir with a mouth as big as hers. He wants to be able to step in, should she get herself into something she can’t get out of herself.
A team of Guardians meet him and the others on the corner of one of the corridors. Dimitri isn’t familiar with all of them; some families have brought their own to pool with the school resources and ensure high security for all. Nevertheless, there has been no friction between the groups, which there also ought to be none of, and as they exchange their reports, Dimitri most of all feels tired – and glad that he can head to bed early enough to maybe read a chapter or two before he passes out.
So engrossed in his fantasy of retiring early with a book, he doesn’t hear her until she’s too close for him to issue her a warning. The other Guardians haven’t reacted yet, which is slightly worrying as Rose isn’t nearly as silent as a Strigoi would be and they’re all supposed to be on red alert, but it is a relief because he doesn’t want them to sound the alarm over one rogue novice engaged in a bet with her instructor.
A few moments before she’s due to strike, he walks backwards directly into her attack, and only turns slightly to grab her right arm with his left hand and meanwhile use his own right arm to collide with the top of her legs. Within seconds, he has her slung over his left shoulder, her legs hanging down his chest. In front of him, the other Guardians look as though they’ve prepared for an attack but have all reached the baffling conclusion that the attacker is a student. They blink at Dimitri, who sighs.
“I apologize for the interruption,” he says, keeping his tone polite despite the strange picture he must be. “Hathaway and I like to do this to keep each other on our toes. If you’ll excuse us.” Turning on his heel, and hoping to whatever powers may be out there listening that Rose is not making obscene gestures at the Guardians that would land him in trouble, he walks a few paces away from the Guardian team before he finally returns her to the ground. Instead of saying anything, he just raises an eyebrow at her expectantly.

“well, good for you, man. it’s a great hotel, of course people are booking up the place.” it would never be nate’s scene, a large empire like bass industries wouldn’t be what he wanted. but it didn’t make him any less supportive of his friend; in fact it just makes it seem more impressive. “everything’s easier when you’re not in any sort of fight with serena. you’ll work out the next step soon enough, i’m sure. and you know what you’re doing.” what nate’s next step was, he wasn’t sure yet. take a break would be nice, away from new york. but he wasn’t sure it was on the cards just yet.
“Thanks, man,” he grins. As satisfying it is to see the progress and the profit because they’re impartial proof that he’s becoming a success story of his own, separately from his father, it’s comforting to hear the trust and belief his friend has in him. It’s the type of praise he’s missed from his father all of his life, so to finally hear it – though not from the man itself, but from people who knew him and care about Chuck – feels like an exhale after holding his breath for years. “Do you have any plans for where you’re going next? ‘Cause I’m sure I could find you a spot on my team, if you want.”

It is hard to tell whether his poor father would be rolling in his grave or nodding appreciatively if he knew about this arrangement. Bart Bass was not a man easy to please – even when he was eventually convinced of Chuck’s first investment, Victrola’s, value their relationship was still strained at best when Bart left the establishment. Whether or not he would approve of something was something best not guessed at, but simply tested with a pitch. Given that gravestones haven’t gained the ability to speak yet, there is no longer a way to figure out what dear old dad would’ve wanted. Even speaking with Lily or Blair wouldn’t help; they may have known Bart, but they also want to shield Chuck. Love can easily make them lie.
All that being said, it is hard to imagine that Bart would disapprove of Chuck finding himself a role model and mentor. When Chuck told Blair about this odd friendship he is building, it practically brought a skip into her step; she has always been one for academic things like mentorship. Though, of course, she likes to be the mentor – out of a need to control now that NYC has completely tilted her worldview. Lily’s reaction was much alike Blair’s; it seemed to briefly relieve her of her stress over Serena refusing to go to college.
So... it would make sense to assume that Bart would’ve been likewise satisfied. There is a possibility that if some sort of afterlife exists, Bart is nodding solemnly, scotch glass in hand. Why Chuck still cares, he doesn’t know. It’s not as though Bart could communicate his posthumous pride. It would be easier to move on with his life and not worry about his father’s legacy. Particularly since Chuck doesn’t represent his father’s company anymore; he doesn’t even own any shares in it. He’s his own man, finally. He’s building his empire from the ground up – just like his father once did. It’s human, perhaps, to want to continue what one’s predecessors have started. Just a mechanism of evolution?
The café is expensive, sophisticated, yet clearly meant for business meetings and the like, rather than intimate get-togethers like dates or cram sessions, which makes it perfect. It serves hot and cold drinks, too, including those of alcoholic substance, and Chuck has already ordered himself ( and received ) a scotch, neat. It’s barely 3 pm, but few businessmen have so far told him to take it easy – probably because many of them are in the same shoes as him. Not that Chuck has a problem.
“I think it’s time for me to move onto another project,” he muses, his words skipping over the surface of the scotch to reach Henry. “The Empire is doing well, and I want to capitalize off of that, but I don’t have the money to do something so ... extravagant again anytime soon. But Bass Industries built half of the Manhattan skyline; if I take a step back, I’m worried my father’s shadow will stick.” He can’t just be good; he has to be amazing.

“That’s awfully hipster of you, to not put your trust in modern technology,” he observes, then makes a motion with his arm. “Shall we? It’s a good thing we’re lucky with the weather today.”
i really, really want a plot where muse a is a naive, sweet, romantic, whimsical little thing with a whole lot of optimism and sunshine in their veins and muse b is the complete opposite; a total player who has someone new in their bed every weekend and hates responsibilities and just spends a lot of their time fucking around. somehow these two have been friends for a while, despite their differing personalities, and one day muse a ends up having to move out of their apartment due to a fire or an infestation or something and muse b is the one who offers to put them up for the time being. it’s all well and good except muse a has terrible nightmares constantly and one night muse b is sick and tired of it (and deep down a little concerned) so gets into bed with muse a until they stop crying and shaking and fall asleep in muse b’s arms instead. cue awkward muses sleeping in the same bed every night and it actually helping muse a a lot with the nightmares, and lots of cuddling and feelings ensue. muse b, being the player they are, are terrified of the idea of liking someone but muse a is pretty much already head over heels and ANGST !!
