âHow much?â you ask.
âUh- itâs free for you-â
âNo, Eddie.â you mumble, the soft tone in your voice gone âhow much did you read?â
Eddieâs heart stops in his chest, a cold shudder rushes through him and all the color drains from his face as he turns back around, a guilty expression making itâs way on his face already as he finds himself staring at you holding your notebook. Your shoulders slumped in disappointment and your eyes flickering with both hurt and anger.
âWell?â
You wait for an answer, staring at him with an anxious and angry look in your eyes.
Eddie can see that youâre disappointed with him, that youâre angry and nervous. The softness and warmth in your eyes, gone. The smile on your lips turned into a scowl. Eddie can feel his heart beating against his ribcage. He is nervous, perhaps more nervous than he has ever felt before and he is also scared. Did he just ruin everything? Did he just break your trust? Did he push you away for good?

Chapter 4 - What Not To Expect When Youâre Expecting
Chapter 4 | Series Masterlist
2k words
Warnings: 18+ content, minors DNI, pregnancy, mentions of needles and needle phobia, honestly at this point you're here to be hurt and I'm here to do the hurting. Hawkins PD are incredibly ineffective at their jobs and stupid.
"It's not that bad." Steve tries, and fails, to sound nonchalant.Â
Eddie stares at him for what feels, to Steve, like an eternity. Before pointedly jangling the cuff that now secures his wrist to the railing of his bed.
"Not that bad, huh?"
A few hours earlier
This morning had been worse than most for your nausea, not helped by knowing you were going to have a blood draw in the afternoon. When the time rolled around for your appointment you were an anxiety ridden mess, needle phobia is a bitch like that. You'd already pushed the appointment back a week and it had done nothing but prolong your anxiety.
Your mother had left work to take an extended lunch break to accompany you to this appointment, knowing you were a fainting risk. She had been on her best behaviour lately regarding out of pocket comments about Eddie, you could ignore the lip pursing at least.Â
For all the anxiety it had caused you, the blood draw wasn't so bad, your mother had been suggesting baby names to you from a book, keeping you focused on her while the nurse stuck you.
"Melissa?"
You snort, "Please, just mentally say that potential name for me. Sounds ridiculous."
"Oh. You're not sticking with your surname for baby?" Before you can open your mouth your mother speaks again, holding a hand up,
"I'm not criticising. I'm not judging. I am merely asking if you're sure that's in the best interests of this child."
You glance sideways at the nurse in earshot and glare at your mother wordlessly until the nurse leaves to take your blood out to the lab.Â
"You will see, Eddie is innocent, they'll clear his name. And yes, the baby is getting his surname. " You set your jaw, defiance glinting in your eyes before your mother backs down, not wanting to cause you any more stress.Â
"Okay then⊠Bruce?"Â
"Definitely not."
You're shifting into a sitting position to climb off the bed and sway slightly, your mother quickly holds you in place by your arms,
"Easy, easy. There's no rush." You pause, allowing the dizzy sensation to pass before sliding off the bed, still supported by your mother,
"I can stand by myself."
"Humour me, you're still my baby. Even at appointments for your baby." You walk to the cafeteria together, your mother insisting on feeding you before she heads back to the office. You sit at a table and groan immediately,
"Bathroom, back in a minute." Your bladder seems to have shrunk on a weekly basis, now at 13 weeks you're sure it's an egg cup size or smaller, and you have no idea how you're supposed to function beyond 30 weeks by which time you estimate your bladder will have ceased to exist.Â
As you're leaving the bathroom there is a commotion, police officers swarming the building and running up the stairs. None of the staff on duty in the hospital seem particularly alarmed by their presence so you let your curiosity get the better of you. You had overheard the floor number on the radios so you head up in the elevator, as the doors open you can see them going into a room almost opposite you, just down the hall. You try to creep along, get a glimpse of the drama but the door is quickly slammed shut before you get too close. You can hear muffled shouting before Steve Harrington is ejected from the room, and held back by officers.
You swear Hawkins just gets weirder by the year as you return to the cafeteria downstairs.
"Any day now, Lucas. She's going to come back. Just like Eddie." Dustin meets Lucas' eyes from across the bed, Lucas prays Dustin is right. The waiting is torture, so is the anxiety that she might wake up when he's not there and think he left her alone.Â
"I hope so."
"Me too man, me too."Â
The peaceful moment is broken by the sounds of heavy footsteps running, shouting,
"Oh shit." Dustin and Lucas realise what is happening almost immediately, Dustin poking his head out of the door in time to see Steve getting hauled out of the room, officers now standing guard outside Eddie's room. Steve catches Dustin's face peering out from Max's room and immediately stops struggling against the officers holding him,
"Okay I'm good, I'm good. I'll come with you to answer your questions." Steve is led away, not cuffed but certainly being restrained by the officers. Dustin shuts the door quietly, trying not to draw attention, Lucas is immediately in front of him and startles him slightly,
"That doesn't seem great."Â
"No it doesn't, Robin and Nancy need to know." Lucas nods and looks back to Max, clearly unwilling to leave her side.
"Don't worry, I'll go." Dustin waits a few minutes before stepping out and walking as casually as he can to the elevator.
"So you're telling us that Eddie is innocent and you can prove it? Well blow us away Harrington."Â
"I need to speak to Hopper, Jim. He'll be able to understand."
Callahan shakes his head from the other side of the table,
"No, see, you don't get to make demands. You were found in the hospital room of our resident murderer. At best you were conspiring to help Eddie Munson escape, at worst, you're his co-conspirator and you helped him with his murders. We know he wasn't acting alone."
"No, that's not what happened. Eddie didn't do anything, neither did I!"Â
Sweat is trickling down Steve's back, he knows the truth won't be believed by anyone here in this room.Â
"Please. I'm not demanding, I just need to speak to Hopper. Please." The officers questioning Steve share a glance.
"Eh what the hell, call him."
Hopper is in the room within 30 minutes, and he and Steve are sitting in his car after Hopper makes the point that actually, no, they can't hold him indefinitely and he is allowed to leave the room.
Steve explains the situation as calmly and as quietly as he can, the two men come up with a plan, a plan to get Eddie out of the hospital before he can be taken into police custody.
"You know he's going to be hunted again right? He's going to have to agree to this plan before we can make a move."
Steve nods,
"I understand, we can't let him go down for something he had nothing to do with."
"Well, someone will have to take the fall for this Steve. Its not like I can tell the nice officers what you've just told me and lead them into the Upside Down looking for Vecna. As for Eddie, do you have some place where we can hide him while we get everything straightened out? Somewhere they wouldn't think to search?"
Steve thinks and comes up empty, then a small spark,
"He mentioned a girlfriend but wouldn't tell me her name. Henderson knows though."
Hopper looks at Steve for a second, waiting for him to catch up, when he recieves a blank stare Hopper speaks up,
"If the police know about the girlfriend do we not think they would search her house first?" He speaks slowly and using his hands to punctuate his sentence.Â
"Shit." Steve had not considered that Dustin might not be the only person in the world other than Eddie who knew who Eddie's mystery girlfriend was.
"Okay, how's this. We lead them to search your house. They will come up empty handed because I'm presuming Eddie isn't a frequent guest at your house? Once they have searched we will the move Eddie to your house. We can hide him at my cabin for those few days."
"Thank you." Steve nods, his house is certainly big enough to hide Eddie until this blows over.
"Don't thank me yet kid, if this is the Big One, we're going to need all the manpower we can get. He better heal quickly. And he's not skipping town if he heals in time." Steve's stomach lurches, the not knowing of what comes next after those gates opened has probably given him a stomach ulcer by this point. He knows what comes next won't be good, but maybe this time they will get the upper hand and take the son of a bitch down.
The two men drive to the hospital mostly in silence, and find Eddie's room unguarded, Hopper is once again astounded at the ineffectiveness of the police department as they enter Eddie's room unimpeded.
After Eddie's initial and well earned sassing of Steve he listens to the plan.Â
"Aw shit, Harrington if you wanted me to move in with you, you could have just asked."Â
"I'm taking that as a 'yes I agree to the plan'." Eddie nods,
"Do you want us to call your uncle, maybe clue him in on what's happening. Maybe let him know you're not dead?"
"Is it safe for him to know?" Eddie looks at Hopper, conflicted. He would give anything to see his old man again, probably get the lecture of a lifetime and be grounded until he was 45 but it would be so worth it to tell Wayne he was okay. But Hopper can't lie to Eddie and say for certain Wayne would not be implicated or arrested if they made contact.
"And the girlfriend can't know yet either, if that's how we're playing it." Eddie nods again.
His plans to leave Hawkins or stay change depending on the direction of the wind these days. In his heart he wants to stay, have his "holy shit you're alive" moments with both you and Wayne probably have a mug chucked at his head by you, but his head tells him that he would put you both in danger, drag you down with him. How could he do that to the two people he loves the most? So maybe leaving is the best option. He doesn't truly believe that Hopper can clear his name, and is only going along with it so his friends don't feel guilty or that they didn't try hard enough.Â
Your mother drops you off home after your appointment, leaving you to flip through the copy of what your mother has referred to as "The New Pregnancy Bible". The floral imagery and the evidently much older than you woman on the cover had made you cringe, and chapters on planning your pregnancy received a scoffed laugh as you skipped past those.
"Bit late for that." You joke to your empty bedroom.Â
You skim read most of the chapters, as you'd expected there's no advice on what to expect when you're expecting a baby and your boyfriend is dead, accused of murdering your best friend. You suspect that market would be incredibly niche.Â
You get up from your bed to place the book on your desk, keen to focus on something non-pregnancy related for just five minutes of your day when you catch sight of something in the mirror that makes you gasp softly,
"Oh!"
Your gaze is frozen in the mirror, turning your torso back and forth, a small smile playing on your lips as you notice it. It's probably mostly a result of your lunch, but you can see a new curve at your abdomen. You run a hand down it slowly,Â
"Hi there, baby."Â
Every milestone you reach just makes this more real, actually seeing your bump becoming visible is another reminder that this is happening, you're having Eddie's baby. And while you'd be the first to admit that you do not feel ready there's also another part of you that can't wait to love on this child, make sure they know who their daddy was and that he would have adored them. Wayne's comment about the Munson nose has stuck in your mind and you'd be lying if you said you didn't picture this baby as a carbon copy of Eddie, eyes like melted chocolate and curly hair that you can never quite seem to tame or even untangle, and that's if you can even get this child to sit still for five minutes.Â

âWhat the hell is going on?âÂ
Your heart drops to your stomach, all the warmth, all the butterflies in your stomach fade to nothing as your eyes move past your uncle who looks anything but fazed by the position he found you and Eddie in- your brother, though, stares at you and Eddie with an angry look in his eyes. His eyes colder than usual. Fear rushes through you as you stare at him with parted lips.
You donât even hear your uncle as he speaks to you and Eddie, his voice sounds far away as you keep staring at your brother in fear who hasnât said or done anything, yet.Â
What to expect: fluff. Mentions of physical abuse. Mentions of serial killers (in passing) Feels.
A/N: did i just sit here and write this all in one night? Yes I did. I hope it doesnât seemed rushed. Let me know what you guys thin! And donât worry, the lemons will return shortly. đ
I wish it were of my own creation, but it is not. Rabbi Twerski is the genius behind the lobster analogy.
Eddie grimaced at the pathetic attempt at dinner Wayne tried to help him make. Somehow his hamburger helper didnât look, smell, and certainly didnât taste anything like the meal you made for him a few days ago.
âDo you think maybe the milk was bad?â Eddie frowned, mindlessly stirring the disaster on the stove in front of him.
âNo, I gave it a whiff. The date on the bottle is still good for a few more days.â Wayne scratched his head as he reread the instructions on the back of the box. âI donât get it. I did everything it said on here but I ainât never seen it look like that.â
âI donât know, but it wonât be the worst thing weâve eaten,â Eddie sighed. He filled a bowl with the mystery slop and sat at the table. He considered calling you and asking where he went wrong and how to fix it, but he figured if he called you at work for such a silly thing it wouldnât blow over well.
He shoved a bit of the mush into his mouth and shrugged. âNot bad. Just ugly.â
âEdible. Not great,â Wayne muttered. He ran his blue eyes over Eddieâs pout. âWhatâs got you so long in the fac?â
Eddie sighed. He hadnât been feeling himself all day. At first he thought maybe it was because his shoulder was really starting to bother him. It wasnât until it was brought to his attention by his friends that he gave it too much thought.
âAre you high?â Jeff asked with raised eyebrows.
âNo?â Eddie replied.
Jeff continued to eye his friend with concern. âI thought you just said you were gonna go to class?â
Eddie nodded slowly, his patience abnormally thin today. âYeah? The bell just rang. Thatâs where Iâm supposed to be, isnât it?â
âButâŠyou have O'Donnell right now,â Barry pointed out. âYouâre gonna give her a heart attack showing up on time.â
âYou might do it,â Gareth laughed. âYou may actually kill her.â
âMaybe thatâs the point,â Eddie grinned. âJust got a lot of shit to catch up on since I missed a week.â
The three upperclassmen gawked at Eddie.
âSince when do you give a flying fig newton about âcatching upâ on anything?â Jeff shrieked. âDonât tell me youâre actually trying?â
Eddie glared at his friend, hurt that it would come as such a shock that he wanted to get out of this hell hole. Perhaps it was his fault for all the self deprecating jokes he said over his many years as a senior, but the look of utter disbelief on his friendsâ face was still a tough pill to swallow.
âCâmon guys, leave him alone. Heâs trying to be a good husband,â Dustin interjected. He gave Eddie a sincere bow of his head. âIâm very proud of you, Eddie the Bard.â
âYeah, I bet itâs embarrassing to be married to someone still in high school!â Gareth snickered.
Eddie, who was already out of sorts, was quickly getting very upset at the jokes made at his expense. Normally he would have chortled along with them and made some sort of âyour momâ joke, but today it was eating away at him. Without dignifying the jest with an answer, he kicked himself away from the table and stormed off, ignoring the âcome on, we were just messing around!â that echoed behind him.
He ignored Ms. OâDonellâs many comments about his punctual appearance and sat at his desk quietly for the lesson. He almost succeeded until the last few minutes of class when OâDonell just couldnât help herself.
âMunson, since youâre surprisingly still awake, why donât you tell me what the Bill of Attainder is?â
âSome document that says people can be sentenced to death without a trial. Itâs illegal in the states. Supposedly,â he answered.
âSupposedly?â She repeated with a raised eyebrow.
Eddie nodded firmly. âSupposedly. Innocent until proven guilty and all that.â
Ms. OâDonell hummed with approval. âWell in the three years Iâve had to endure your presence, Munson, I donât think Iâve ever seen you so attentive. Lord knows itâll do you some good to know a think or two about criminal law.â
While it was clearly meant to be an insult Eddie was content with accepting her words as a compliment. He wasnât stupid or lazy like all his teachers believedâjust comfortable. At least, he was.
He suddenly felt very uncomfortable. Being a super senior didnât bother him before, often being the first one to laugh at himself for it. He loved to remind Higgins that he had more seniority because he had been here longer, since Higgins didnât become the head of school until â82. The insults from the teachers and other students didnât upset him because he knew he was there on his terms, not anyone elseâs.
Now things were different. He didnât like being the oldest student. It annoyed him when people poked fun at him when it didnât before. He hated the fact that heâd be trapped here for a few more months. He hadnât given a single thought as to what he wanted to do once he got that blasted piece of paper, but he was ready for that damn diploma now more than ever.
So when Ms. OâDonell followed up her compliment with âI guess that poor girl is making an impression on you,â it damn near set him off.
He supposed Eiken had a grand ole time gabbin away in the teacher's lounge about the new information he discovered this weekend. It wasnât exactly a secret that Eddie was marriedâall the people he cared about knew. But to imagine his love life being gossiped about by people he couldnât stand was infuriating. It was one thing to talk shit about himâhis parents, lack of wealth or future, poor grades, rowdy behavior, and whatever else they could think ofâbut not about you.
Blame it on the pain, suddenly being uncomfortable in his own skin, the weak jab at you, or just being in a very sour mood, but the willpower to stop his mouth was nowhere to be found.
âNo need to be jealous that Iâm off the market now, Mary. Iâm much too young for you anyway,â he sneered. âMaybe you tell Eiken that, too.â
OâDonellâs face blanched in shock as she gaped at him. The rest of the class didnât seem to understand what either of them were talking about as their eyes shifted between the two. The bell rang, giving Eddie a chance to slip out of the classroom before his now red faced and blabbering teacher could hurl more insults at him, and he made his way to the next class without another word.
Eddie told Wayne everything about his dayâfrom the sudden discomfort within the walls of the school to his idiotic outburst in the doctorâs office and everything inbetween.
âI feelâŠI donât know,â he sighed, violently stabbing at a lumpy piece of ground beef. âNot like me.â
Wayne pursed his lips in thought. âHow do lobsters grow?â
Eddie blinked. âHow doâwhat?â
âHow do lobsters grow?â Wayne repeated. He didnât wait for an answer before he started to explain. âA lobster is a mushy little thing that lives in a rigid shell. When the lobster grows, the shell doesnât. It starts to get cramped and uncomfortableâso it hides under a rock or something and casts off the shell so it can grow a new one. It does this again and again over its lifetime. Understand?â
Eddie looked around the trailer, feeling like he really was high this time. âNot a goddamn word.â
âThe stress of being confinedâthe discomfort the lobster feels when being stuck in a shell that doesnât expandâlets the lobster know itâs time to move on. When youâre starting to feel uncomfortable and stressed, that means itâs time to grow.â
Eddieâs face contorted into a confused scowl. âWhat the fuck, Wayne? Did you become some sort of philosopher all of the sudden?
Wayne waved his hand dismissively. âThe tv people messed up my time tables. Instead of M*A*S*H coming on at one, thereâs some woman with a talk show. People come on and start boohooinâ about their life and all that kind of shit. She had some Rabbi or Doctor or something on there that said that and I remembered it.â
Eddie smirked. âCouldnât change the channel to something less touchy-feely?â
âQuiet, boy,â Wayne snapped. âIâm trying to tell you youâre finally growing up.â
Eddieâs shoulders slumped. âGrowing upâ always sounded so terribleâa cursed dead-end job, never having any time for hobbies or friends, having all individuality squashed out of him by rules of etiquette. He didnât want that for himself. He still wanted to be Eddie the Bard, Hellfire Leader, Guitar player, metal band frontman, avid Tolkien reader. He didnât want to be anything else.
âNo need to look so damn glum about it. Itâs what youâre supposed to do,â Wayne snorted.
âAnother victim of society,â Eddie murmured. âBrick in the wall.â
Wayne let out a long sigh. âYou ever thought about why you suddenly want to mature?â
Eddie shrugged. âNot really.â
âMaybe youâre starting to see yourself how I see you. How your friends see you. How Y/N sees you. That bright idea pop into your head?â
This conversation was making Eddie extremely uncomfortable and heâd like nothing more than to grow away from it. When he told this to Wayne, the elder Munson scoffed. âAinât nothing wrong with growing, son, especially when youâve got a reason to.â
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck nervously. âPretty backwards right? Having a wife before I have a diploma?
âEverything you do is so damn ass backwards, Eddie, but even if it takes you a while to get there, you always end up on the right side of things. Eventually.â
Eddie nodded, appreciative of the new perspective. âIn all seriousness, Wayne. No more Oprah. Iâm not sure how much more of this kind of talk I can take out of you.â He shivered dramatically for good measure. âGiving me the heebee jeebees.â
Casting off his old shell to grow a new one, whatever the hell that meant. Eddie figured heâd better start with his room. The mess he had cleaned up before your visit was stashed not so inconspicuously in the corners of the room and the floor of his closet. There was no better place to start than the abyss that was his tiny closest. He scooped out all the junk out into the middle of the floor and started sorting through the various broken guitar pics, crumpled up papers, underwear that was too holey to cover even an inch of his body, dirty socks, shoes that were much too small for him, and stacks upon stacks of notebooks.
He pushed all the trash into one heap and started to go through things that may have actual value. Most of the notebooks were filled with his sketches, notes and rough drafts of campaigns that never came to be, and some school work that somehow missed the trash can at the end of the school year. A notebook that began as his Spanish notebook quickly turned into a sketch book, his English notes drifted off into a unfinished DnD campaign, and one spiral that nearly had his face splitting in half from the force of his grinâhis Anatomy & Physiology Lab manual.
Hastily grabbing is and opening it up, his eyes darted over the many scribbles across the pages. A lot of it was actually notesâsystems of the body, parts of the cell, junk on homeostasis and other boring shit. A few pages in he started to see handwriting that didnât belong to him scrawled across the margins. He laughed to himself as he read the conversation and recalled the memory of what lead up to it.
Eddie grimaced at the rigid dead cat in front of him. It was eerily stiff and the teeth poking out of its lips made it all too real for him.
âThatâs probably as close to a pussy as youâre ever gonna get, Munson!â Tommy H shouted across the room.
Eddie mocked the Jockâs dumb laugh. âI dunno, I was balls deep in your momâs last night. You should ask her about it.â
âEnough!â Mr. Eiken barked over the roars of laughter and âoohs!â that rang throughout the room. âAnother outburst from either one of you and youâll both be spending your lunch hour with me for the next week.â
Eddie had to choke back the gags that were threatening to erupt from his throat as he watched you drag the scalpel from the catâs chin down to its ass. The frogs were bad enough, but a cat was much bigger and happened to be one of his favorite animals.
âMunson, I need a little less Madonna and a little more Ozzy from you, okay?â you teased, pointing the scalpel at him.
Eddieâs shock at the mention of his favorite bandâs frontman made you laugh. There was no way that you, pretty new girl, knew anything about the Prince of Darkness.
âYou know Ozzy?â he questioned.
âDonât look so shocked. I like a lot of different music,â you shrugged. âRight now Iâve got Powerslave and Master of Reality on loop at home.â
Eddieâs jaw dropped before he snapped it shut again. It had to be a cruel joke someone was playing on him. A chick referencing Ozzy and Iron Maiden? There was just no way. Someone was coaching her on what to say to him to make him fall in love and then make a total idiot of himself, though who in this country ass school would be knowledgeable enough to tell her what to say and want to humiliate him, he couldnât say.
Carol turned around and eyed both you and Eddie in disgust. âThatâs devil music. It turns people into murders.â
âNo, thatâs the Beatles,â you retorted with a soft laugh.
Eddie and Carol exchanged a confused glance before looking back at you for an explanation. When you didnât look up from the catâs carcass and kept cutting through the fascia, Eddie asked for you to elaborate.
âCharles Mansonâs favorite band is the Beatles. Helter Skelter, remember?â you quizzed, posing the question like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
âThat doesnât mean anything! That guy was sick!â Carol argued.
âNo argument there. But John Wayne Gacy was a huge Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan fan, so I guess those guys should be considered murderous devil music more than Ozzy, right?â
Carol and Eddie exchanged another look, but before they could ask any more questions, Eiken demanded the obsessive chatter cease.
Eddie was completely enthralled by your attempt at defending metal, but we was also a little scared of your repertoire of serial killer trivia. He opened up his lab manual to the page that held the exercise you were supposed to be filling out together and started to write.
Youâre not one of those chicks who send their panties to serial killers in the mail are you?
He pushed the spiral towards the center of the table. You snorted when you read it and quickly dropped the scalpel to reply.
Why? Jealous?
More like terrified.
No. I just donât like people who talk about stuff they know nothing about.
And youâre fluent in murderers?
No, you cute idiot. Iâm fluent in music and I donât like it when jackasses like that try to make people feel bad for liking the same music we do.
How do you know what music I like?
Because I can read?
?
How many band patches and buttons do you have on right now?
Right.
A few more pages in he saw more of your handwriting make another appearance.
Eddie. Iâm not going to play tic-tac-toe. Pay attention!
Itâs your turn
Swear to god, Munson, I am going to let you fail the next exam if you donât stop trying to get me to play
Well thatâs just not true.
Ha. A tie. We both lose. Now focus.
He fanned through the notebook until he saw the familiar scrawl again.
Whoâs the lucky lady youâre taking to prom?
Itâs rude to mock people.
Iâm not mocking, Iâm asking.
Not going. Wonât catch me dead in a tux.
I donât know, youâd be pretty hot dressed up. More than usual I mean.

Forget I asked.
Eddie groaned and whacked himself repeatedly on the forehead with the notebook. What a fucking idiot. Even though that note was written long after he gave up on you, he felt utterly stupid at the blatant opening you had given him. Wrapped up in his own self pity and spite, he missed itâmissed the olive branch and very clear opportunity for asking you out, or at least giving you the clear to ask him out. He knew you didnât have a good time at the dance, having made a point to tell him so. At the time he thought it was you just bellyaching about being a third wheel to your friend and her insufferable boyfriend for the night, but now it suddenly clicked in his head what you were trying to tell him.
It made him furious at himself. What would his life have been like now had he, as Wayne likes to say, pulled his head out of his ass. Heâd probably have graduated the first time around, wouldnât have been a virgin for so long, and most certainly would have had more time with you. The torturous thoughts of what could have been left him literally beating himself up as he continued pelting his forehead with the spiral.
Luck was apparently on his side. After hanging up with you, he was ecstatic to put his plan into play. Sure, he was down in the mouth to hear you burst into tears on the other side of the phone, but he knew just what he could do to cheer you up.
He didnât sleep well at all, agonizing over the perfect way to execute his plan. He had already exhausted the card trick and needed to think of something fast and hopefully cheap. He rolled around all night trying to wrack his brain, until an idea finally struck him like lightning.
â-
Since the night started off so terrible, it only improved as it went on but it still wasnât great. Tired, legs and feet aching, you dragged yourself out of your car and into Bennyâs diner.
Your dampened spirits immediately lifted as you saw Eddie wave at you. There was no reason for him to stand since he was the only customer in the building, but he did so anyway. He looked freakishly cheerful for this early in the morning as his smile put his dimples and pearly whites on full display.
You threw your purse into the corner of the booth before standing on your toes and throwing your arms around his neck. It had been a very long night and the comfort of his body allowed you to let out a breath you hadnât realized you had been holding since you watched him leave Fisherâs office.
You hugged him closer so you could plant a soft kiss on his lips. You werenât sure if it was from relief, stress, sadness, or exhaustion, but a few tears made a quick descent and onto Eddieâs thumb where he cupped your cheek.
He pulled away quickly, his bright smile melted into concern. âWhatâs wrong?â
You quickly wiped away the traitorous trail of tears and shook your head. âTired.â You took your seat across from him and gave him the best attempt at a smile as you made a show of putting your rings back on, wiggling your fingers so he could clearly see. âWhatâs got you in such a good mood?â
Eddie ignored your question. âI ordered you pancakes and scrambled eggs. Hope that was right.â
You nodded and let him know it was perfect. Gladys the waitress came back and poured you both a coffee before letting you know the food would be done within a few minutes.
âSo!â Eddie exclaimed excitedly, a smug lips sided grin playing across his lips. âI know youâve known this for some time now but I just discovered that Iâm a total dumbass.â
You frowned and shook your head. âDonât say that. Youâre just stubborn, not stupid.â
Eddie wagged his finger at you, smile still in full force. âNah-ah. I said I was a dumbass, not stupid.â
Confused, you raised your eyebrows at him. âShall I wait with bated breath for you to enlighten me?â
Eddie pulled a notebook out of his sling, which now seemed to be a purse for him, and sat in front of you. You recognized it immediately and giggled as you flicked through the pages. âWhere did you find this?â
âI told you Iâd clean the Devilâs Den eventually and I started last night,â he said proudly. âFound all kinds of gems in there.â
You grinned as you read your handwriting filing in the blanks of a game of hangman. âAnything award winning?â
âFor the biggest dumbass on the planet? Absolutely.â Eddie flipped the pages until he saw the word prom on it and pointed at it. He watched your smile falter as you read the words, but it immediately perked back up as you looked at him.
âFinally connected the dots, did you?â you teased. âIâm glad I didnât wait with bated breath for that or else Iâd be long dead.â
Eddie laughed and rapped his knuckles sharply on the tabletop. âYeah, Iâm glad you werenât there to see the aftermath of my discovery.â
You sighed thoughtfully and flipped through the pages mindlessly. âWell, like I said when you came into the ER with Dustinânearly ripping your arm off made up for it.â You closed the book and pushed it back to Eddie. âYou realize this is our first date?â you asked. The thought had been wracking around your brain all night like a rock in a tin can and you couldnât wait to see what he had to say on that matter.
âHmm. I thought the wedding was our first date,â he replied with a goofy grin.
âWith a reception like that, itâs going to be difficult to top for a second date.â
The mischievous glint in his eyes sparkled as Gladys came by and placed the plates in front of each of you. You never felt hungry after a shift, usually just itching to get home and slip into a coma for half the day. Yet as the smell of fresh bacon sizzling hit your nose your ravishing hunger made itself known.
You reached for the syrup and almost dropped the glass carafe as you stared at your plate of pancakes.
Cut in perfect letters, decorated with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, your pancakes spelled out: Prom?
Your hand trembled as you set down the syrup and stared at the heart shaped pancake in the middle decorated with chocolate chips.
You only got to go to prom because Emilyâs mom didnât let your mother say no, and you surely paid for it when you got home that evening. Standing around in an ill fitting dress watching Emily and Ryan fight all night wasnât how you wanted to spend the prom, but thatâs how it happened anyway. When you got home, your mother and Martin wasted no time in letting you know that they were never ever going to have their hand forced again. Not going with who wanted, not wearing what you wanted, and having to comfort Emily over the actions of her garbage boyfriend for the umpteenth time was not worth the ass kicking. It was quite possibly one of the worst nights of your life and you never thought youâd have a chance to remedy it.
And yet, two years later you were being asked to go with the one person you dreamed of asking you. You would be able to go into the stinky, poorly decorated gym and dance to terrible pop songs with your now husband. You could take those cheesy pictures in front of the balloon arch and wear whatever the hell you wanted. You could spend the entire evening out and not have to pay for it in pain.
You werenât sure if it was from the ignored emotions left over from work or the fact that your inner teen was finally getting something that couldnât be tarnished by your mother and her belligerent husband, but it was impossible to stop the tears this time once they started.
Eddie placed his hand on top of yours. âHappy tears, I hope?â he asked nervously.
You didnât want to look at him, knowing that the face you were making in an attempt to not weep aloud must be gruesome. âSome,â you squealed. âMost.â
âSoâŠâ Eddie cleared his throat. âIs that a yes or are you trying to find a way to let me down easy?â
The watery hiccup that erupted from your chest made the both of you laugh. Wiping your tears away hastily you finally met his eyes and nodded. âOf course Iâll go with you, you fool.â
âSee, I think that you love me and then you call me names. Has anyone told you that youâre a bit of a bully?â he teased.
You ignored the lump in your throat at the use of the dreaded âL wordâ, wondering if he was poking fun at your earlier slip. âOnce or twice.â
Eddie patted your hand and instructed you to eat before your food got cold. He also filled you in on the disaster of his attempt at hamburger helper and how Wayne was very much ready for you to come home so he could get back on a normal feeding schedule.
âYou have to go to class after this, but I can go home and feed him before we both crash,â you offered between bites.
âNah, weâll just get him some bacon and eggs to go. No need to cook as soon as you get home.â
You smiled to yourself as you cut the âRâ shaped pancake with your fork. Prom with Eddie. Going to a home where you were appreciated and, dare one say it, even loved left your mood elated for the rest of the day.
Summary: Nursing isnât all what itâs cracked up to be.
Word count: 4k
What to expect: Jealous Eddie. Mentions of SA. Medical trauma. Career Crisis. Filler chapter.
Unfortunately inspired by true events.
A/N: so this originally started out as a way for me to deal with all the bullshit of working in the American healthcare system, so there will be some Eddie in here but the focus of this chapter is more medicine. Itâs a wee dark in here friends. đ
Returning to your apartment for uniforms was a little unnerving. It didnât smell like home, look like home, feel like home. The absence of Eddie and Wayne was clearly evident as you scanned the frightfully bland living space. The thought crossed your mind to ask Eddie if he wanted to move in here with you, or if you should just sublet the apartment until your lease was up next august. The only thing that stopped you from just slowly leaving your stuff behind was the fact that Eddie himself didnât bring it up. Staying a week to take care of him was different than permanently moving in. Besides, you had been reunited almost two months ago and not even married for three weeks. It seemed a little soon to just take that leap.
But hadnât every single piece of this relationship been unorthodox in every sense of the word? You married him before even going on a first date with him. Would it be so bizarre to just one day show up and never leave? Eddie did always seem to go into a full on pout anything you tried to leave the house. Even thinking back to when you brought him the medications after work that day, when you said you were going to leave to go to bed once he finished eating he looked utterly shattered. Maybe he wouldnât mind if you just stayed with him.
Going back to work after a week off made your stomach writhe with anxiety. At first you were bored beyond belief at home with only Eddie and occasionally Wayne for company. But you did get to catch up on rest and even returned to a relatively normal sleep schedule. The thought of returning to a busy emergency room floor with unruly patients and tyrannical doctors was downright dreadful and it made you want to seriously consider breaking your own arm to avoid going back.
Dressed for work in the annoyingly stiff uniform dress and ugly white oxfords, you went back down to the car to pick up Eddie for his post op appointment.
He told you many times that you didnât have to come with him to the appointment but you ignored him. He was notoriously stubborn and didnât like to be told what to do. You wanted to hear from directly from Fisherâs mouth what the next steps were. You could tell he was nervous because as soon as you picked him up from school he was in a sour mood. You didnât ask or press him for information, but his curt answers and ever present scowl was not what you wanted to deal with before starting a fourteen hour overnight shift.
Fisher came into the exam room and instructed Eddie to sit on the table and remove the sling.
Fisher looked at you and grinned. âNow I recognize you!â He turned to Eddie and winked. âYou lucky devil.â
Eddie was too busy trying to undo the buckles with one hand and refusing your help to reply.
âTell me what we got here, Mrs. Munson,â Fisher smiled, nodding towards Eddie.
You frowned. Apparently it didnât matter if you werenât on the clock yet. If the uniform was on, you were to do whatever the doctors said.
âTwenty year old right hand dominant male one week post op from a latarjet procedure with an allograft for shoulder instability caused by a bony bankart lesion,â you rambled. âInitial trauma started from a fall down stone steps, followed by two more dislocations from minimal abduction.â
âVery good,â Fisher cooed. âYou should look into becoming a practitioner.â He went to Eddieâs side and started to peel the bandaging and gauze from his shoulder. âIncisions look great! Nice, clean edges. The guy who stitched you up sure knew what he was doing!â
Neither you or Eddie laughed. Fisher continued his exam, torturing Eddie by moving his arm around and squeezing various spots on his shoulder and bicep. Eddie hissed and grumbled in response to Fisherâs questions.
Fisher removed his gloves and threw them in the trash. âWell you look great! Still have some swelling but that and the numbness will go away with time and therapy. Keep the sling on at all times except to shower and Iâll see you again in two weeks.â
âNo at home exercises?â you questioned, moving to help Eddie put his sling back on despite his protests.
âNot yet. Next appointment Iâll see how heâs doing and then weâll likely start therapy the following week. Heâs a young guy, he wonât lose much muscle between now and the next few weeks.â
âHow long before I can have sex with my wife without this stupid fucking thing on?â Eddie snapped.
âEddie!â you shrieked in shock.
Fisher howled with laughter. âKeep it on for the two weeks until I see you again, but Iâm sure youâll find a way to make things work. Most of my patients do!â Fisher stuck his hand out for Eddie to shake, which he did reluctantly. âTake your pain meds, Mr. Munson. You seem a little grouchy. Iâll see you in a few weeks!â
When Fisher left the room, you scolded Eddie. âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â
Eddie turned sharply towards you, face contorted in a rage that youâd never seen before. Cheeks red with fury and eyes wild as they stared back at you. âWhy? Hoping he forgot that youâre married?â
âWhat are you talking about?â you gawked at him. âHe knows Iâm married! He called me Mrs. Munson right in front of you!â
Eddie snorted. âSo I guess itâs for the other doctors youâll be running around with later then?â
Anger growing at his accusation, you stabbed him sharply in the chest with your index finger. âSpeak plainly, Munson, since clearly youâve got something to say.â
Eddie grabbed your left hand and held it in front of your face. âYour rings. Where are they?â
You yanked your hand from his and pulled a silver chain small enough to be a bracelet that was hooked around the strap of your bra that had both rings dangling from it. âRight here!â
Eddie made a grab for the chain but you pulled away and stuffed the rings back into the cup of your bra. âWell what are they doing in there? Donât want anyone to know about me?â
âGod you can be soâ!â you let out a sharp huff and counted to twenty silently in your head with your eyes clenched shut. You knew that Eddie was, for lack of a better word, delicate, but his insecurity and distrust in your feelings for him was starting to get extremely aggravating. You took another deep breath before looking back at him.
âI love my rings, Eddie. I do. But please, think about it,â you implored him. You held up your hands for him to see. âI wash my hands at least one hundred times while Iâm at work. When I walk into a room, before touching a patient, after touching a patient, before leaving the room, and sanitize them every single second in between. My rings could fall off down the sink drain, or get pulled off when Iâm taking off my gloves. Better yet, they could get pulled into someoneâs ass when Iâm trying to dig out a forigen object that mysteriously ended up there.â
Eddie lowered his eyes to the floor and shuffled his feet awkwardly. You gently tilted his chin so heâd look at you. âI donât wear them at work because I love them and donât want them to get lost or soiled, not because Iâm trying to hide you.â
Eddie nodded, but his frown was still prevalent. You gave him a chaste kiss on his pouty lips and sighed. âStop trying to push me away, Eddie. Itâs getting very irritating.â
âSorry,â he murmured. âI feel like all I do is irritate you lately.â
You smiled at him. âKind of, but youâre sexy so I let most of it slide.â
Eddie chuckled. âStill not used to hearing that.â
You stood on your toes to wrap your arms around his neck. âWell get used to it, sir, cause I think youâre very sexy.â You pulled him down into a sensual kiss that it took everything in your power to pull away from. âIâve got to get downstairs and clock in.â
Eddie nodded, planting a kiss on your forehead. âIâll probably be gone by the time you get home but you might meet Wayne on the road.â
âAm I coming home? I thought maybe since youâve started school again youâd want me to go back to the apartment.â
Eddieâs face twisted in thought. âWell I guess that depends on you. You can sleep in my bed and have Wayne take the cot, or go to your apartment and sleep in your own bed. I wonât be home to know the difference.â
âIâll likely go to my apartment then. I donât want to banish Wayne back to the cot if I donât have to,â you answered sadly. An idea popped into your head, but you werenât sure how Eddie would feel about, or better yet what Wayne would think.
âYou got to promise me one thing, though,â Eddie proposed.
âHmm. I am not sure I like the sound of that. What hefty fine am I about to pay?â
Eddie rested his forehead against yours. âPlease donât disappear for another ten days. Hell, not even three days.â
You thought about how and when you could see Eddie. He would be gone by the time you got home, and you would be leaving before he got back from school. The only time youâd be able to see him is on Saturday when he didnât have class or Sunday when you were off.
âIâll come home Saturday morning after work?â you asked with a raised eyebrow.
âSaturday? Itâs Monday!â he whined.
âEddie, there really isnât any other time for us to see each other. And before you even think about it, no. Youâre not cutting anymore classes. Get your ass out of high school so we can be on the same page.â
Eddie sighed. âYes, dear.â
âââ
It didnât make any sense. Fifteen year old female with vaginal bleeding and none of the labs or imaging gave any hint as to what could be going on with her.
You flipped to the very beginning of her chart to look through the history to see if there was anything over the last few years that could offer a clue.
African-American Female.
DOB: 8/11/71
Allergies: NKA
OBGYN Hx:
LMC: N/A

Your stomach dropped to your toes and a feeling of intense nausea took over. You quickly returned to the girlâs bedside and glared at the adult with her who claimed to be her father.
âWeâre going to do an ultrasound of your belly and see if we can find anything, okay?â you gently informed the girl.
She nodded, her big brown eyes glassy and she clutched her stomach.
âDidnât you already do one?â the man barked.
âThat was of the kidneys. Dr. Reese wants to take a look at the uterus and see if thereâs a lesion,â you lied quickly. You helped the girl to her feet and took her to C-5, waving to charge nurse Denise in hopes she would follow you.
The girl sat on one of the chairs and stared at you expectantly. You assured her everything was going to be okay and that you were going to take care of her.
Denise came in and gave you a quizzical look. You pointed to the part of the girls chart that listed her history of pregnancies. Much to your disappointment, Denise furrowed her brow at you.
âIs this supposed to mean something?â she asked coldly.
On the verge of throwing up from disgust, panic, and sheer anger, you turned to the teen patient. You dropped to your knees in front of her and attempted to grab her hands in a sign of comfort, but she quickly yanked them out of your grasp and flinched away.
âThat man out there, is that your father?â you asked, trying your best to keep your voice smooth as silk in effort to not scare her.
The girl nodded her head quickly.
âOkay. Who is watching you babies?â you continued to press. âYour name is Tracy, right? I can call you that?â
âMy mom has them at home,â she answered timidly, clutching her stomach. âAm I gonna die? Is that why I'm here? Youâre gonna tell me Iâm dying?â
You shook your head. âNo, no. No dying. Tracy, do you know when your last period was?â
âI already told the other lady I never got one,â she answered.
You turned to Denise and saw her flip to the demographics page of the girlâs chart. You saw the light bulb turn on immediately as Deniseâs usual scowl softened.
âWhen did you start becoming sexually active?â Denise asked.
Tracy shrugged. âI donât know.â
It took every ounce of will you not burst into tears as you turned to look back at Denise. She must have noticed you were on the verge of a breakdown because she immediately called Diane in.
âNo need to worry, Tracy. I think the bleeding is just your period starting. Diane here is going to take you back to your bed and give you some more information on what that means,â Denise said sweetly.
Tracy nodded and followed Diane out of the room.
As soon as the door shut leaving you and Denise alone, you immediately started to hyperventilate.
âBreathe, Y/N, donât get worked up now,â Denise sighed in annoyance.
âDonât getâ!? Donât get worked up?â you shouted. âThat girl has been having babies since she was twelve years old and she thinks sheâs never had a period before! Denise, I really hope I donât have to spell out what that means?â
Denise pointed a stern finger at you. âWatch yourself. I know youâre upset, but you better lower your voice and remember who youâre talking to.â
You began to pace, chest heaving and tears falling freely. âHow could this have happened? Why hasnât anyone filed a report? Contacted family services? Sheâs clearly been abused since before she hit puberty and youâre telling me not a single doctor o-or nurse or anyone did anything!? A twelve year old child comes in to deliver a baby and no one thinks something is wrong? Sheâs had three consecutive pregnancies with not a single menstrual cycle in between!â
Denise folded her arms over her chest. âI donât know about what has or hasnât been done, but we can tell the social worker to speak with her and what happens after that is not our concern.â
You stopped your pacing to glare at Denise. âWhat?â
Denise sighed. âItâs our job to take care of her while sheâs here and that is what we are doing. We will educate her on what to do when this happens again and put her mind at ease. If the social worker has any concerns, she will file through the appropriate channels and the authorities will follow up.â
You wanted to rip the stoic expression off of Deniseâs face and beat her with it. âThatâs it? We-we just send her home back to whoever is doing god knows what to her and just turn a blind eye?â
âNo, we report it to the social worker who then follows the protocol,â Denise replied coolly.
It was all too much. The anger, anxiety, fear, disgustâeverything surfaced as you launched your head into the trashcan to vomit.
Denise looked annoyed more than anything. âYou have got to learn to distance yourself. We treat conditions and diseases. If you go absorbing every patientsâ problem and make it your own, you will not survive.â
You wiped your mouth clean and turned to face her, utterly heartbroken. âI donât want to do this. I donât want to be a part of this.â
âDown and to theââ
ââoh donât give me that horseshit!â you shouted. âThatâs just a stupid way to not feel guilty for betraying these people!â
Denise stepped closer to you, her weathered face taut with irritation. âDo you know why we cover the faces of patients in surgery? So we forget that they are people. On the table they are just a machine that needs a part repaired. It is the same on the floor. They arenât people, they are patients. You are here to find out what part needs to be repaired and that is it.â
Your hand twitched, itching to slap the shit out of her. This is not what you signed up forâThis is not what nursing was supposed to be. The fact that she could look you in the eyes and say that was almost enough to risk an assault charge.
âI hate this,â you seethed through gritted teeth, more tears staining your cheeks.
âI did too, for a time, before I learned how to deal with it,â she agreed. âYou canât let your emotions get the best of you, Y/N, and you canât solve every problem that walks through that door. Youâll kill yourself trying.â
She patted you on the shoulder, instantly making you recoil from her. She was now the enemyâa cog in the machine that valued slapping on a band-aid rather than a solution to the cause. She was a creature of the hospital that valued money over lives.
She instructed you to wipe your face and deal with the chest pains on bed six before you got yourself in trouble, once again mentioning the need to differentiate between patients and people.
You tried to tell yourself that you were just upset and needed time to calm down before doing something stupid. Running out of here and giving every single person in a uniform the finger and never coming back sounded as good as winning the lottery, but you couldnât. Besides an apartment to pay for and the necessity of food to live, your insurance would be terminated the moment you walked out of that door and all the bills that hadnât even been brought to a final tally would suddenly increase hundredfold and be dumped in Eddieâs lap. It wouldnât be right or fair to do that to him. The whole point of the union was to help him not spend the rest of his life in debt.
So you dried your eyes and cleared your throat before heading to the nursesâ station. It was only nine oâclock at night, Eddie was certainly still awake. You ignored Deniseâs instructions to follow up on bed six and dialed home.
âHello?â
The whole point of calling Eddie was to try and bring you off the ledgeâto remind you why you had to suck it up and keep on going. However, as soon as you heard his voice, the little bit of resolve that you had built up to talk out of C-5 crumbled as you started to bawl.
âWhoa, whoa, hey! Whatâs going on?â Eddie asked through the phone.
You shook your head even though he couldnât see you and quickly swallowed the new wave of whimpering that tried to escape your chest. You held your head back to stare at the ceiling and let gravity help keep the tears in your eyes.
âTell me something funny,â you demanded.
âFunny? Like a joke?â he questioned, voice laced with confusion.
âA joke, a story, anything. Just fucking talk!â you snapped, trying hard to regulate your breathing.
âUhhâŠPretty sure Mr. Eiken is thinking of ways to mount my head above his mantle. The look he gave me in the hallway nearly made me piss my pants.â
âMore. something else,â you demanded through tagged breaths.
âFuck, I donât know! UhâŠwhat happens when you give a politician viagra?â
âWhat?â
âHe gets taller.â
Normally it would have gotten at least a small chuckle from you, but now it just wasnât cutting it.
âGeez, tough crowd. MmmâŠoh! Did you know that Barry has a girlfriend?â
âWhat?â You gasped. âBarry? Barry Berman? Your friend Barry?â
âThe very same! Well sheâs not really his girlfriend yet, but she came to sit with us at lunch. Total nerd. Sheâs into computers and engineering nâ shit.â
âIs she pretty?â you asked, genuinely wanting to be immersed in high school nonsense.
âI feel like thatâs a trick question so Iâm going to say no,â Eddie answered with a light laugh.
You rolled your eyes. âOkay, then does Barry think sheâs pretty?â
âYeah, I think so. I would hope so! He stares at her like he canât believe sheâs real. Itâs embarrassing sometimes. I have to remind him to close his mouth when he starts drooling.â
âHmm, I think Emily had to do the same for me whenever I was around you.â
Eddie snorted. âYeah, right. Donât say things like that to me. It makes me feel like an idiot for not asking you out again. Heyâthat gives me an idea!â
âOh god. Better batten down the hatches,â you teased, a small smile making its way across your lips.
âIâm going to pretend you didnât say that. I would tell you what it is now, but it wouldnât be much of a surprise.â He paused and let a few beats of silence pass. âFeeling better?â
âSort of,â you pouted. âBetter enough to go back to work before I get fired.â
âWant me to take you to breakfast when youâre done?â
âNo, Eddie. You need to go to class!â
âOh come on!â he exclaimed. âMy first class of the day is gym and itâs not like I can participate right now. Besides, I know this chick that works at a hospital that can snag some blank letterheads and write me an excuse for being late.â
It was a dumb idea, but he had a point. The class he needed to pass was American Government, not PE, and he wasnât going to be able to play dodgeball for the next few months anyway. As selfish as is sounded, you needed him. Facing the next five days with no contact was just too much, especially on days like this when it was hard to remember why you needed this job.
As you watched Diane instruct your young patient on your to use a maxi pad, your mind was made up. As soon as Eddie was cleared from Fisher at his final post-op appointment, youâd resign. An associates in science and a registered nursing license gave you some options. You could be a school nurse or work for the county. Anything, even flipping burgers with Benny, was better than this. Breakfast would be the perfect time to tell him.
âI can meet you at Bennyâs at 7:45?â
âIs that nurse time or real time?â he asked.
âReal time. Nurse time would be 7:00.â
âOkay, Bennyâs at seven it is!â
âI love yoâ,â you immediately stopped yourself, eyes wide at what almost tumbled from your lips. ââyour shared appreciation for Bennyâs.â
Even without being able to see him, you could hear the smile in his voice. âThe more holes in the wall, the better the food. Iâll see you later. Try to have a good day.â
Afraid to say anything else, you hung up the phone and raced to bed six.
What to expect: Arguing. Smut/lemon (-18 kindly dni)
A/N: apparently i had some super funky settings on that wouldnât allow people to comment and I didnât even know it! It should be fixed now. I have no idea how many parts this is going to be because I am just having way too much fun. Feedback appreciated! âŁïž
According to Wayne, the house had never been so quiet. When he came home from work the TV would be on as would Eddieâs stereo on full blast. When Eddie was out of the house and Wayne was home, heâd have to sleep through the booming voices of his neighbors and their children. But now, on an early Monday morning the only sound that filled the small trailer was Eddieâs heavy breathing and the ticking of the air conditioner.
He looked so pitiful in the recliner, wrapped up in a sling that made him look like he was partially robotic. His plump lips slightly parted and his face free of any mischief made him look much older somehow.
When he came out of the recovery room he still wasnât making much sense. His speech was slurred and he didnât seem to have any idea where he was. He instantly passed out on the car ride home and Wayne dragged him into the house.
You told Wayne to utilize Eddieâs room. Eddie would likely be more comfortable in the recliner until he started physical therapy and could move around a little more. You tried to take a nap on the couch next to him but found it difficult. Every time Eddie made a noise you jumped up to see if he needded anything but he never roused. You thought of maybe turning on the tv to pass some time, or maybe reorganizing the pantry, but didnât end up moving. The last thing you wanted to do was wake Eddie up before he was ready.
By three o'clock you started making dinnerâor breakfast for Wayne. Whether he was ready or not, Eddie was going to have to wake up soon. Fisher made it very clear he wasnât to sleep longer than six hours when he made it home. Even worse, to prevent blood clots Eddie was to be given a shot in the stomach once a day for the next five days and that was something you were not ready to break to him yet.
With Coffee and a cheap take on chicken alfredo made, you gently knocked on the door to let Wayne know it was time to get up before working on Eddie. He really was a beautiful man with smooth skin and long thick eyelashes. You delicately moved his bangs from his eyes and gave his warm cheek a few quick kisses.
âEddie. Wake up,â you said, shaking his good shoulder. He didnât even twitch. You tried again and again, trying not to shake him too roughly but to no avail.
âWatch it,â Wayne said, signaling you to get out of the way. He got right into Eddieâs face, nose to nose, and yelled at the top of his lungs.
Instantly, Eddie jumped and started screaming back, completely terrified and confused. âAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!â
Wayne backed up and patted you on the shoulder. âThere you go. Works every time.â
âGod, you know I hate it when you do that!â Eddie yelled, hands visibly trembling.
âSorry, Doctorâs orders,â you frowned. âCanât let you sleep more than six hours after the anesthesia. I made food and coffee. Why donât you come eat?â
Eddie rubbed his eyes and slowly started to get to his feet, groaning all the way.
âHow you feelin, son?â Wayne asked as you sent plates before each of them. âLooks great, thank you.â
Eddie groaned. âLike that asshole beat me with a bat.â
You grabbed a little remote that was tucked away in Eddieâs sling and showed it to him. âThis is the nerve block. Whenever the pain gets too much, just hit this button and itâll numb you up. But donât try to use it too much because once I take it out in three days, itâll increase the pain you do feel tenfold. So donât get too trigger happy with it.â
Eddie immediately clicked the button as many times as it would let him before tucking it back into the sling. âBetter already.â
Wayne snorted. âWish I had one of them for this damn finger.â Wayne wiggles his scarred pinky at you. Truly it looked really great for what the injury was initially. When you told him as much, he nodded and gave it another appreciative wiggle.
The food was delicious and it was a wonder you hadnât noticed that none of you had eaten since yesterday. Eddie made no attempt to invoke table manners as he shoveled in much food as his mouth could hold and then some.
âJesus, boy. Itâs not going anywhere,â Wayne said with a wrinkled nose.
âMâhungry,â Eddie grumbled through a mouth full of noodles. He gave you a quick wink that made your cheeks sting and immediately redirect your gaze somewhere else.
After dinner, Wayne left for work and let you and Eddie alone. Eddie immediately started to get drowsy after filling his belly and settled himself back down in the recliner after putting on a weathered copy of The Planet of the Apes. He patted his lap and asked you to join him and frowned when you hesitated.
âThereâs something we have to doâdoctors orders. And before you argue with me, Eddie Munson, just know that I will be able to do it without your cooperation so you better just make this easy,â you rambled, pulling out a prefilled syringe and keeping it out of his view.
Eddieâs face paled as he eyed you suspiciously. âWhat is it?â
âDo you trust me?â you asked.
âAfter this morning? Hell no!â
You sighed. âFine. Then Iâll ask this, quick and painless or am I going to have to fight you?â
Eddie clenched his eyes shut. âWhatever it is, just do it. I wonât look.â
Without hesitation, you uncapped the needle and lifted his shirt to expose his belly. You grabbed a pinch of fat and sternly said âDonât move.â before pushing the needle into his skin and pressing the plunger.
âOW, what the hell is that!â he yelled. Just as he opened his eyes to look, you removed the needle from his stomach and pulled his shirt down, hiding the needle behind your back.
âDoesnât matter. All done until tomorrow. Only four more times before youâre done,â you answered nonchalantly. You pulled Eddieâs shirt back down as he tried to lift it again to see what you did to him and sat on his lap. âSure youâre comfy?â
Eddie pulled the lever on the side of the chair to fully extend the recliner. He didnât look terribly comfortable, and despite your advice on not abusing the nerve block, Eddie clicked the remote until it wouldnât let him anymore and gave you a small smile. âI am now.â
While Eddieâs attention was on the screen, yours was on him watching his brown eyes blink slower and slower as the movie played on. You spent a lot of time staring at the ceiling earlier in the day, trying to convince yourself that Eddie's love confession was mostly out of fear and the use of very strong drugs, but with the new found nature of your relationship it was hard to feel giddy over it. Even more difficult now that you were snuggled up to him with your nose brushing lightly against his cheek.
Eddie glanced at you from the corner of his eye. âWhat are you smirking at?â he mused with a lopsided grin.
In lieu of answering, you cupped his cheek and ran your thumb over pale skin. His cheeks were starting to get a little scratchy from the emergence of facial hair, tickling your palm. You moved your hand to trace the outline of his angular jaw and brush against the softness of his bottom lip before tilting his chin to meet you in a tender kiss.
Did you love him? It was hard to say. But you could openly admit you were attracted to him, wanted to protect him, to take care of him and be there for him any way that you could. You wouldnât mind waking up every morning to see his hair askew in a wild tangled mess as he slumbered on. It would be nice to meet new people and introduce him as your husband rather than an old classmate. You tried your best to put all those thoughts into a language he could understand as you continued to move your lips against his.
After a while the angle was starting to hurt your neck so you gave him a few quick pecks before pulling away and nuzzling into his chest.
âWhat was that for?â he chuckled breathlessly.
Maybe he didnât understand the message you were trying to send him. You shrugged. âFor being so handsome.â
Eddie snorted. âWell, thanks.â
ââ-
Whoever coined the term âmarital blissâ was clearly being sarcastic.
Five days post-op you were ready to strangle Eddie. He had an annoying habit of taking his socks off and somehow tangling them up in a ball with his toes, leaving them everywhere. Everywhere! There were white and black little rolls of socks on almost every inch of the floor because heaven forbid if he took off a pair he couldnât just put them back on when he wanted to. No, he needed a whole new set.
Not to mention that neither he or Wayne bothered to put the toilet seat down so in the middle of the night during a sleepy trip to the bathroom, you often found yourself falling into the depths of the toilet. Nothing made you angrier than having a wet ass at two oâclock in the morning when it could have clearly been avoided if they would just put the seat down!
And the hair. It was a wonder Eddie had any left on his head! On the days that he did decide to shower, heâd leave clumps of hair on the shower wall to dry and stick to the tile without throwing it away when he got out. It was a real shock to step into the shower and see a wad of hair that frighteningly looked like a huge spider staring back at you. More often than not youâd let out a yelp in terror before realizing what it was.
You werenât sure if it was because the lack of comfortable sleep, being bored out of your mind and cooped up in a house with two males, or not being able to cure the new found appreciation for sex that had you on edge, but finding a glass of what used to be chocolate milk once upon a time was the last straw.
âEddie, was this you?â you asked venomously, holding up a half full glass of multicolored sludge.
âOh, thatâs where that went!â Eddie smiled. âSorry.â
You werenât sure what your face looked like, but it was clearly alarming enough for the stupid grin to slide right off of Eddieâs face. You took in a deep breath in order to calm your nerves before you accidentally threw the glass at his head.
âI just did all the dishes and I asked you if there were any left. Did you even bother to check?â
âYeah, I just didnât see that one,â he answered.
To be fair, it was hidden and you wouldnât have seen it had it not been for the fact that you were looking for a pen to write a new grocery list with. Even so, it didnât calm your nerves. You threw away the glass and its rotten contents into the trash with a hefty thud.
âSomething tells me youâre mad?â Eddie attempted to guess.
Trying not to pull your hair out, you took in another deep breath. âIâm a little frustrated, Eddie. Iâve put in a lot of work to clean this place up and it seems like youâre hellbent on destroying it.â
It was true. Rather than watch Eddie sleep his days away, you cured your boredom by completely revamping the Munson abode. You started with the kitchen by emptying all the cabinets, wiping them down top to bottom, and washing the dishes before putting them back in a more organized way and doing the same with the fridge and pantry, sure to throw away condiments that were almost as old as Eddie. Then it was time to sweep, mop, vacuum, and steam clean the floors. Wipe down every surface in the house that had been coated in a thick sticky layer of tobacco smoke over the years, including the walls and all the hats and mugs that decorated them. The bathroom was another day of terror and you begged both Munson men to please clean up after themselves after shaving instead of leaving the sink covered in unwanted facial hair.
Every sheet, towel, blanket, and all of Wayneâs clothes got a good tumble or three in the washer before being put away neatly in the freshly cleaned linen closet. Eddie begged for you to leave his room as it was and that he would get to it eventually, whenever the hell that was, and you begrudgingly obliged.
Wayne was beyond grateful for the new and improved look of his home, even going as far as saying it hadnât been this clean when he bought it. Eddie, on the other hand, was much like a freshly bathed dog waiting to roll around in the dirt and get his stink back.
Eddie scoffed, immediately setting your nerves ablaze. âOne missed glass isnât exactly destroying the house.â
âThe glass! The socks all over the floor! The replica of Cousin It youâre trying to build in the bathroom!â you snapped.
âWhoa, whoa, whoa! What about you? Youâre the one who doesnât know how to close a single cabinet or drawer! Everywhere I turn Iâm getting pelted in the hip or face with another open cabinet door or corner of a drawer left open! And donât get me started on how you never, ever put the cap back on the toothpaste!â
âThereâs no need to put it back on! Youâre just going to take it off again in the next few hours to use it!â you argued, completely ignoring his comment on the haphazardly closed cabinets.
âYou do need to put it back on because when I go to use it, it comes out in a gross hard clump because itâs dried out!â Eddie yelled.
âFine! Iâll put the cap back on the toothpaste if you remember to put the toilet seat down!â you shouted back.
âFine!â
âGreat!â you exclaimed, grabbing your purse and fishing the keys out of it. You turned to ask Eddie if he wanted anything from the store, but the look of terror on his pale face stopped you in your tracks. âEddie, whatâs wrong?â
âYouâre leaving,â he muttered, nodding towards the keys in your hands.
Confused, you grimaced at him. âIâm just going to the store to pick up a few things.â
Eddieâs humorless laugh was chilling. âI think my dad said the same thing. Itâs okay. I guess it was only a matter of time.â
It was in that moment as you watched Eddie miserably pick at one of the many holes in the arm of the recliner that you realized what he was saying. He thought you were leaving him. Even if he pretended not to be, Eddie was a grown manâand yet he never looked so small.
Irritation trickling away, you took a deep breath and went to give him a sharp flick on the forehead and a bruising kiss.
âIâm not leaving you, you fool. Iâm just going to the store. I would ask if you wanted to come but Dustin said heâd bring Hellfire over before three oâclock.â
Eddie tenderly rubbed the spot where you thumped his forehead. âHeâs not coming until Saturday.â
âIt is Saturday, Eddie.â
âOh,â he blushed.
You grabbed him by the cheeks and yanked him into another harsh kiss. âIâll be home soon, promise. But I swear to god, Eddie, if these socks arenât in the hamper by the time I get back Iâm shoving them all down your throat.â ââ-
Eddie was so happy to see his friends that he sat in front of the door like an eager puppy, waiting for them to knock. When he heard the crunch of the gravel outside the door, he couldnât wait any longer and ran out of the door.
âHey, there he is!â Jeff shouted, pointing at Eddie. âI was starting to forget what you look like!â
âStill better lookin than you, thatâs for sure!â Eddie replied as he bolted down the steps. He missed them, but didnât realize how much until he saw them again in the flesh. Eddie wrapped his good arm around Jeff in a tight hug.
âCareful or Iâll start to think youâre in love with me or somethin,â Jeff teased, giving him a hard pat on the back.
âYeah, donât wanna make the Misses jealous,â Gareth joked. He gave Eddie a hug too. âMake yourself useful and bring in the drinksâ
Eddie grabbed the bag of two liter Mountain Dew and told the guys to follow him inside.
âI feel like I just stepped through the looking glass,â Barry laughed, letting his eyes wander.
âDid you guys repaint? Coulda sworn these walls were yellow,â Lucas commented, running his finger down the wall.
âNope, just a little elbow grease,â Eddie answered, placing the drinks on the counter. âNot mine, obviously.â
Jeff grinned deviously at Eddie. âSo you guys uhâŠ.you know?â
Eddie pretended not to understand and looked at Jeff expectantly.
âDid the nasty! Beast with two backs! Fuck! Did you guys fuck!â Mike yelled.
âClassy,â Eddie commented. âAlso none of your business.â
âThatâs a no then,â Barry laughed, elbowing Jeff in the ribs.
âThatâs not a no. Thatâs a âIâm not going to talk to you about screwing my wifeâ.â
Dustin patted Eddie sympathetically on the back and frowned. âItâs okay. Maybe when youâre better.â
Normally it wouldnât have bothered Eddie because he knew the truth of what was going on between you. But hearing his friends chortle and snort at him like he was a loser made him mad.
âYes, weâve had sex! A few times. Just not since the surgery. Sheâs being annoyingly cautious about it,â Eddie snapped. âGrow up, will you?â
âHey man, donât get sour on us!â Jef laughed. âYouâre the only one of us getting laid! Weâre dying to know!â
Eddie peeked out of the window to see if he could make out your beat up Nissan coming down the road before speaking further. âWell Iâm not gonna give you the details but yeah, man. Itâs fucking awesome! Swear Iâd never leave the house again if sheâd let me.â
â-
Roaming around the store was a great way to get time to yourself. You werenât really mad at Eddie, but the time apart was certainly welcome.
Methodically going through the aisles to grab whatever caught your eye, you nearly crashed into the endcap when you saw your old anatomy and physiology teacher waving at you.
âMr. Eiken?â you questioned as the lanky brunette with a bushy mustache made his way towards you.
âY/N! How are you!â he asked excitedly. âI havenât seen you around town!â
It was a bit weird seeing his dull brown eyes light up as he smiled brightly at you. You hadnât had much to do with him even during class except the occasional praise for the top grade or being the only student who could memorize the sutures of the skull. He was just your teacher and not even your favorite one at that.
âIâm doing well,â you answered skeptically. âI moved back a few months ago for work.â
âReally?â he replied, extremely over exaggerated in his excitement. âPlease tell me youâre in some sort of science field!â
âFirst year working in nursing,â you answered with a curt nod.
âThatâs wonderful, congratulations!â he said, giving you a very unwelcome pat on the shoulder. âIâm so proud of you. Thatâs really fantastic! You were really one of my best students. Not even the boys had such a strong stomach!â
You chuckled awkwardly and nodded, not sure what else to do. You gave him a small wave and tried to bid him good day, but he quickly jumped in front of your cart.
âHey, now that youâve graduated, what do you say to maybe getting dinner sometime? Iâd love to hear about your new career!â
It was true, you were both a high school and now college graduate so it wasnât completely inappropriate technically speaking, but it still left you a little uneasy and certainly made your stomach turn. Mr. Eiken wasnât a bad teacher, but to ask out one of his former students was nauseating to think about.
You tried to subtly flash him your ring as you pushed a stray piece of hair behind your ear. âThatâs very kind, Mr. Eikenââ
ââAlvin, please. Iâm not your teacher anymore.â
âRight,â you grumbled uncomfortably. âIâm afraid I canât. Not sure how my husband would feel about that.â
At least Mr. Eiken had the decency to look embarrassed. âYouâre married? Congratulations! How wonderful!â
âThank you,â you replied, not so subtly showing him your ring this time. âMrs. Munson as of a few weeks ago.â
Mr. Eikenâs greying eyebrows quipped. âWayne Munson? Donât you think he might be a bitâŠadvanced for you?â
It was even more disturbing to think the Mr. Eiken didnât realize he was less than a decade younger than Wayne and an insult that he hasnât even considered Eddie, the guy you sat next to the entirety of his class that year.
âNo, not Wayne. Eddie. Remember he was my lab partner in your class?â
Mr. Eikenâs shock morphed into disgust as his face grimaced. âYouâre married to Eddie Munson? Why?â
Offended and already on edge from earlier in the afternoon, your eyes narrowed. âHeâs a good man.â
âMan?â Eiken repeated in disbelief. âHeâs an imbecile! Heâs still wandering around the school like he belongs there. Soon enough the freshman who came in during his first senior year will surpass him!â
Breath ragged and face heating in anger, you thought it better to leave than to continue this infuriating discussion. âBeing a sore loser is very unbecoming, Mr. Eiken. Have a nice day.â You pushed your cart towards the front of the store and ignored the âHeâs no good, Y/N!â Mr. Eiken shouted after you.
Once home, you burst through the door like a madman, making all seven guys jump. They looked utterly terrified as they watched your chest heave in fury.
You threw the keys at Barry and pointed at all the rest of them. âGo get the groceries out of the car.â
The boys looked at Eddie in confusion, who didnât have time to answer them before you yanked him by the front of his shirt.
âY/Nâwhat the hell! I picked up all the socks!â he screeched, trying to not fall over as you dragged him to the bedroom, kicking the door behind you.
Immediately, you tangled your hands in his hair and pulled him into a sloppy, heated kiss. Eddie, though hesitant, started to give in until you moved your hands to take off your shirt.
âAre you crazy? My friends are here!â he shrieked.
You pulled your top over your head and shimmied out of your jeans. âThey should be getting the groceries out of the car. Thereâs enough to buy us some time.â You grabbed his hand and brought it to your bare center, torturously dragging his thick fingers between your folds. You kept your eyes locked on Eddie as his hand moved without your assistance.
His brow knitted together and his mouth fell open as he felt you getting wetter by the second. A loud huff escaped his lips. âFuck. Whatâs gotten into you?â
âYou, if Iâm lucky,â you replied, girding yourself against his hand. You pulled him in again, this time darting your tongue into his mouth without warning. He moaned into you before roughly pulling away and opening the door.
âGuys! Groceries! Car!â he shrieked down the hallway before slamming the door closed again.
Wasting no time, you started to rip Eddie pants open and shove them down his thighs.
âW-wait! Relax! Jesus,â he panted. âHow the hell are we supposed to do this with this damn thing on?â
His sling was much bigger and had a large block pad between his arms and ribs that kept his shoulder immobilized. He only took it off to shower and he had to be very careful not to move too much or else he was going to reinjure himself.
There was no way he could be on top without knocking the block around. If you straddled him your knee would surely hit it as well. Even if you faced the other way on top of him you didnât trust yourself to not accidentally hit it, especially if you couldnât see it.
You turned around and spotted the answer. You shoved a bunch of crap, including a pepper shaker for whatever reason, to the side and pressed your chest against the dresser as you leaned over it. You looked at him through the mirror that topped the dresser. He didnât make any attempt to move as he gaped at your body with his mouth hanging wide open. âThink you can do it?â you asked impatiently.
Snapped from his trance, Eddie awkwardly shuffled his way behind you with his pants trapped around his knees. âWeâre about to find out.â
You closed your eyes at the feeling of the head of his cock sliding up and down against your slick folds. When he slowly started to push in, you impatiently slammed your butt flush against his hips, taking him all in at once.
You couldnât tell if it was you or Eddie or both that let out a deafening gasp and you didnât care. This angle felt deeper, almost nauseatingly so as he instantly hit the spot where you desperately needed him.
âShhhh,â Eddie whispered shakily, running his hand up your back to grip your shoulder. âTheyâre gonna know.â
You kept your eyes locked on him in the reflection of the mirror. âGood,â you growled before pulling your hips forward and slamming them back against him.
Getting the hint, Eddie gripped your shoulder tighter before he started to roughly plunge into you. Hard, deep, fast. It was exactly what you wantedâneededâfrom him. The delicious bite of him stretching you, the jolt of electric pleasure that coursed from the top of your scalp to the tips of your toes each time he thrust into your spongy spot with full force.
The room was filled with the indecent sound of skin slapping against skin and a mixture of loud moans and groans. Hands flat against the dresser, helplessly gripping at nothing, you opened your eyes to look at Eddie. His pale cheeks were red, bangs starting to stick to his forehead, brow furrowed in concentration and mouth wide open as filthy moans fell from it. Even with the stupid bulky sling, he was incredibly sexy as he watched your ass bounce eagerly against him.
âFuck, Eddie!â you screamed, hoping it was loud enough for Eiken to hear whenever he was. You dropped your hand to feverishly rub your clit as you felt his hips start to fall out of rhythm.
At the sound of his name, Eddie snapped his head up and watched you work yourself through the mirror. âIâm so fucking close,â he warned.
Without warning him, your walls started to clench around him erratically as you made no attempt to control the volume your high pitched moans of agonizing ecstasy made. Eddie rested his forehead against your shoulder as his thrusts became faster and uneven.
âEddie, baby, come on,â you patented encouragingly. âCum for me.â
He didnât need to be told twice as his hips pushed you harder into the dresser and stilled as he groaned loudly into your ear.
It took a few beats before he peeled himself off of your back and pulled out. You could immediately feel somethingâif it was your cum or his, maybe bothâdrip down your thighs. If only Eiken could see and know that it was Eddie the Imbecile that had your thighs sticky and knees trembling.
Eddie collapsed against the wall and attempted to catch his breath, pants pathetically still wrapped around his knees. You cupped his face with both hands and gave him the sloppiest, filthiest kiss you could muster until you couldnât breathe anymore.
âJesus Christ, woman,â he gasped as you trailed your lips from his to nibble on his earlobe. âWho do I have to thank at the grocery store for this?â
You pulled away, expression souring. âMr. Eiken asked me out in the canned vegetable aisle. He didnât react too kindly to knowing weâre married.â
Eddie grimaced in horror. âEiken got you all hot and heavy? Fucking gross!â
You rolled your eyes. âNo! You did! He said some stupid stuff that really pissed me off and I donât know. I just wanted everyone to know that I chose you.â
Eddie grinned. âWell I think you succeeded in alerting at least half of Hawkins. Iâm sure Ms. Mayfield will have a noise complaint filed before the sun goes down.â
You nipped his lip affectionately. âGood.â
Eddie cleared his throat and tried to wiggle his pants up. âIâm gonna go entertain our guests. Iâm sure theyâve got the groceries in by now.â
You nodded and snuck into the bathroom to clean up and get dressed. When you walked into the kitchen and started to put away the groceries, you tried not to laugh as you noticed that all the guys were trying desperately to look anywhere except at you.
The cute little interactions they have while sheâs caring for him and giving him đ„șđ„ș itâs just so cute and written so well Iâm gonna cry

You sigh in frustration as you realize itâs probably not here either.Â
âHey, y/n!â
You close your locker slightly, leaning back to see who called out to you. A smile appears on your face.

Eddie never knew their names- so he started giving them some.Â
He remembered all of them, cheap fucks- the price of them actually free, usually. The first couple times, he swore he was in love. The naivety of youth and the fresh break of virginity created a rose-tint that kicked his heart in the ass every night for months. But after a few more, he realized that he actually just liked the idea of feeling wanted. No strings attached. No discrepancies of the boy-friendly woes like hand-holding or learning her name to worry about.Â
All women in passing, faces in a somber crowd. Maybe they wanted the same thing that he did- to feel something for just a second. He figured a lot of them just wanted to feel pretty again.Â
He felt bad at first, taking advantage of them in skeezy bar bathrooms and in the back of his van, knowing that he was capable of much more than that, but the feelings numbed alongside the tenderness of being touched that way. Love didnât just lose its meaning. Love was the worst curse he could think of. Love was something he had never known. Love kicked his heart in the ass one too many times.Â
He decided that love was never a bitch he would get to know, that was until Kate walked in.Â
It was in passing first. It was still early enough that the streets and sidewalks of Hawkins, Indiana remained relatively unburdened. The latch-key hour was for his morning stroll, post-black-coffee-camel hanging from his two fingers, ash teetering dangerously off the end. You came brushing past, inherently unremarkable. You didnât meet his eye when you walked past, though, he couldnât quite tell with the sunglasses that covered the top half of your face.Â
You were West Hollywood. You walked like Sunset Strip. You smelled all of the romantic parts of a skeezy, intoxicated one night stand after a Whiskey A Go-Go show, the ambergris bourbon and cardamom seeping through his nose like a cancer. You were the entire crowd, and one person all at once. He could feel the stage light burning red hot against him as the bass crescendo rolled through your body. In his brain, the show was your legs thrown over his shoulders.Â
He shook his head, rattling the thought out of his ears like a set of dice on the upholstery of a Vegas craps table. Falling in love- or lust- with a stranger in passing wasnât his style, yet here he was, die firmly sat on seven.Â
Preemptively, Eddie named you Kate.Â
Kates were nice girls. Kates wore frilly ankle socks and mary janes and their boyfriendâs letter jackets. Kates did their homework, went to college, made it home by curfew. Kates loved their parents and taught Sunday school. Kates steered clear of boys like Eddie.Â
But Eddie loved ruining girls like Kate.Â
+
As quick as Kate flooded his mind, Kate was just as quick to leave. He didnât pine. He didnât hurt. He didnât feel anything.
Until the ambergris bourbon of the Sunset Strip turned into black coffee and cigarettes and unfiltered morning light, tucked in between the glue-laden binding of trashiest Cosmo edition you could get your hands on.Â
His eyes started at your ankles, watching the way you swung the crossed mass back and forth in a mindless rhythm, allowing the sole of your shoe to scrape against the concrete. He watched their way your body folded into itself comfortably- in a way that he speculated only women knew how to do. He saw how your eyelashes nearly kissed the apples of your cheeks as you looked down to read, chin against your palm that was propped against your knee.Â
You looked so peaceful, and Eddie loved disturbing the peace.Â
He gripped his coffee in his hands, relinquishing the burn of the hot liquid barely filtered by the paper cup to ground him out. His feet, like cement weights, dragged towards you.Â
âIs this seat taken?â He asked, and you jumped slightly, staring at him with wide eyes.Â
âOh, sorry, didnât mean to scare youâ He apologized quickly, already starting to turn on his heel. The symphony of stupid already rattling around in the pink matter of his brain.Â
âOh! No! I just didnât notice you walking up.. Go ahead, sit!â You said, overly-friendly and not wanting to cause him any emotional distress.Â
He pulled the chair in front of the outdoor table back, the cast iron scraping disgustingly on the concrete and wobbling slightly as he sat. He took another drag off of his cigarette, before eyeing your magazine.Â
âWhatchaâ readinâ?â He asked, nonchalantly, and you giggled, flipping the magazine over to the front.Â
Cindy Crawford splayed across the front of the magazine with a bright orange cover, hair elegantly windblown and delivering the most sensual bedroom eyes that the Melvaldâs had ever witnessed.Â
Top Male Stars Tell What Turns Them On. Would You Believe a âToothy Grinâ? Was the first headline Eddie caught. He read it slowly, then panned his eyes back up to your beaming face, a similar toothy grin pulling at your corners of your mouth and pushing the flesh up beneath your eyes.Â
Eddie didnât read Cosmo, yet, he resonated that yes, absolutely, a toothy grin could, in-fact, turn him on.Â
âAwful, isnât it?â You asked him, giggle still lingering in your words.Â
âYeah.. it is.â He said, offering a nervous laugh back. He didnât expect you to say it out loud, he thought that maybe you had actually been indulging in whatever garbage it had to offer.Â
âBut,â He started again, âIf it's so bad, then why are you reading it?â He asked you.Â
âI think itâs funny.â You said back to him, like it was obvious, âTheyâre literally just pages full of garbage about what men think women want.â
âDoes anyone even take those things seriously?â He asked, arching a brow at the tabloid in suspicion.Â
âIâm sure they do.â You said back to him, confidently.Â
âSo what do women want?â He asked, bravery coming to him in a sudden spurt. It blindsided you.Â
âOther than a toothy grin?â You asked, half-sarcastically.Â
âIs there anything else a woman could possibly want?â He questioned back.Â
âOh sure. Lots of things.âÂ
âLike what?â
âA cigarette, for starters.âÂ
He released a breathy laugh, flipping the box open, lighting it, and passing it over to you.Â
While you were talking about double-standards and patriarchies, he was taking in the features of your face. He didnât mean to focus so intently on your lips as they closed around the filter, or the unknowing sensuality of the way you rolled the cigarette between your index and middle fingers. You released a soft french inhale from your lips, and he so desperately wished that it was him that replaced the smoke billowing from your mouth.Â
To be completely honest, Eddie didnât care what women wanted unless it was you that wanted him.Â
âSo, what about you?âÂ
The question drew him back up for air, pulling the cotton from his ears in a blindsided panic.Â
âWhat?â He asked, quickly shaking his previous thoughts from his head.Â
âWhat do men want?â You asked, not taking notice of his momentary panic. Instead, you rested your chin in your palm.Â
âWell I canât answer for all men, but this man wants a pretty girl watching his show on Tuesday.â He said back to you, smoothly.Â
He didnât catch your name.Â

The Hideout was dingy, to say the least, but it has its own distinct, homely charm. The people in it were friendly enough, aside from the odd drunken skeeze- but you figured every rose has its thorn.Â
By the time you strolled in, the band had already been playing. You sat yourself down in the very back up against the bar, away from the tables hosting other patrons. The bartender was a nicer older woman, the kind that called you baby and healed whatever emotional trauma your parents might have given you. She poured your water-spotted lowball glass with Patron Silver, the edge rimmed with salt and garnished with a lime.Â
You are a republic of voices tonight, watching as the mysterious man you seemed to almost kind-of like bounced around on stage. He flipped his hair back, sweat cascading off of the ends like glitter and the stage light casting a halo around his head.Â
You met his eye, and relished in the comfort of your dark corner, avoiding the stage lights from catching your fact at all costs. It was as if the harsh, angling light will turn you to flesh and bone. Mortality will pierce you through the retina.Â
And much to your demise, the pink lighting does catch your face. You donât vaporize. Eddie sees your face, and the way the light illuminates the space behind your corneas, casting a monochromatic glow over the top portion of your body. He throws a wink youâre way and, even though thereâs realistically no one in here who would be on the receiving end of that wink aside from you, you question if it was.Â
The songs are loud. The music is abrasive. You donât know the words, but you wish you did. You liked the way it rang in your ears- you liked the way Eddie rang in your ears.Â
The last song is different from the rest of them. By now, most of the other people had filed out and the bartender idly wiped down the countertops. The song was sultry, his voice took on a hum much different than the loud, boisterous tone he took on previously.Â
âKate⊠Likes to hear her name out loud.Â
Kate⊠Likes it when I use my mouthâŠ.â
You watched him intently, deft fingers plucking over acoustic guitar strings. His legs were braced against the stool, jeans stretching over his spread thighs. He watched you this time, your sweet face pressed into your soft palm. You had kind eyes, and he tried not to think about watching them roll back in fucked-out bliss as he played.Â
By the time the song was over, there was a tension between you that could be scooped with a spoon. He quickly pulled the strap of his guitar off from around his neck and made his way towards where you sat. You decided quickly that you needed liquid courage, licking the side of your glass and dumping the remnants of tequila into your mouth.Â
âYou came?â He asked you, outstretching his long arms to encase you in a bone-crushing hug.Â
âWhat⊠were you expecting me to run in the other direction?â You asked with a breathy laugh, in part because he squeezed it out of you.Â
âHonestly a little bit.â He said back, giving you the same laugh you offered, though his was more guttural.Â
You sat at the bar for a bit, giving each other a good back and forth rhythm. You spoke about nothing in particular, and everything all at once. FInally, you had built up enough courage- so greatly donated to your person by Patron Silver- to ask,
âSo⊠Whose Kate?â
He froze for a second, like he didnât know how to respond.Â
âOh⊠just a girl I met a while ago.â
âShe sounds interesting.â
âShe is interesting.â

You donât know how you ended up at Forest Hills Trailer Park.Â
Actually, you knew exactly how you ended up back at Forest Hills Trailer Park.
What you couldnât recall, is how Eddie had managed to sweet talk his way under your shirt, out of your jeans, and in between your legs (even though you actually kind of knew that, too.)
Despite his abrasive nature and equally abrasive exterior, he was soft with your body. His hands were gentle, and his kisses were feather-light. He held you like glass. He pressed hot kisses down your throat, your collarbones and sternum. He lapped gently at your pert nipples, pebbling them softly beneath his tongue. His fingertips ghosted over your hips and over the rounds of your thighs. But his mouth was foul. Â
âYou taste like fucking candy.â He groaned, though muffled by your thighs as he licked a crude, wet stripe in between your folds.Â
He rolled his tongue over your clit and you cried the prettiest sound he had ever heard.Â
He realized that his previous sentiments in naming you Kate were incorrect- or maybe that he was wrong about Kates everywhere.Â
Kate was pretty, and she left her perfect clothes in a perfect pile on his bedroom floor. Kate didnât have frilly socks, instead her bare ankles hung around his shoulders as he kissed her thighs. Kate drank chilled Patron Silver and smoked stolen camels- but only in the morning and only with coffee. Kate loved when boys like Eddie sang about her on stage. Kate liked having her pussy eaten.Â
Kate also felt more human than the other girls he took against the wall.Â
âBaby, youâre so wet for me.â He sighed against your thigh, momentarily relieving you of the intense pressure building against your clit as he slid his middle and ring finger past your entrance.Â
You let out a sigh, hands reaching down to grasp the pillowy dough of your own thighs as he curled his fingers within you. They brushed that beautiful spongy spot over and over again. His spare hands curled over the fingers that gripped your thighs, sweetly.Â
Your orgasm came as a flood, intense pleasure beginning at your core and radiating through your body. He continued to work his fingers through your apex and pressed hot honey kisses to your shaking thighs.Â
âYou ready for my cock, sweetheart?â He asked, sitting up on his knees and rubbing your thighs between his heavy hands, tenderly.Â
ââM ready.â Was all you could muster in your still-floaty state. He chuckled softly, pulling his belt off.Â
You watched the way his alabaster skin stretched over his bones like leather. As he pulled his jeans and boxers off, clumsily, you also watched his pretty cock. Pink at the tip with significant length and girth, a pearlescent bead of precum gathering at the tip. Eddie really was very pretty.Â
He worked two fingers into you slowly, feeling out your sensitivity. When he deemed you ready, he slid the tip in, slowly. You moaned softly at the dull ache and stretch.Â
âThere we go, baby, sâgood for me. Taking it so well.â He said to you, softly, heavy grand gripping your hip. You squeezed his own with your knees.Â
As he began to rock, there was an ex cathedra riff coming down from the Vatican: Repent. Your body is the temple of the Lord and you have defiled it. It is, after all, Sunday morning, and as long as you have any brain cells left there will be a resonant patriarchal basso echoing down the marble vaults of your churchgoing childhood to remind you that this is the Lord's Day.
âYou feel so good babe, so- fuck- tight on my cock.â His words combined with the heavy thrust of his body entwined with yours reeled you back into reality. His grip on your hips tightened, less soft than before. You knew he felt it, too.Â
As he came, the oiled ellipses of his hips and shoulders tightened, warm ropes of cum coating your slick walls. Your second orgasm following is only a few seconds behind.Â
He collapsed on to you, dramatically, resting his head in between the valley of your breasts. His breaths were heavy still, and his skin shone with a sheen of sweat that made him glow. His cheeks were tinted pink and his eyelashes kissed with his smile.Â
When he came down, he lifted his head to meet your eyes.Â
Iâm honestly in so much awe of how beautifully this was written that Iâm struggling to find words of praise
I love this SO MUCH!!!
Youâve quite literally painted a picture with your words. The detail in whatâs said and whatâs thought is phenomenal. The pacing of everything is done so well too.
What to expect: Smut/Lemon (-18 please dni). Manipulation. Medical trauma.
A/N: Iâm still hella new at writing smut so please feel free to critique cause itâll help me learn đ„Č. Hope you guys enjoy this one! Thanks for all the love & support. Feedback always greatly appreciated. âŁïž
Accepting someoneâs love was something Eddie was extremely unfamiliar with. Even though the image of you grinding against him and moaning his name was going to be etched in his memory forever, he couldnât help the nagging feeling in the back of his head that whatever you thought you were feeling of him would shrivel up and die sooner rather than later and he would be devastated to witness the change in you. Youâd leave just like everyone else who was supposed to care about himâall except Wayne. For whatever reason he had that effect on people. Needed a room cleared? just throw him in like a smoke bomb and people would part like the Red Sea before Moses. Youâd realize that soon too. But for now, heâd enjoy it while it lasted.
Losing his virginity after being married like a respectable god-fearing man was not how he imagined things going. Like most dudes, he pictured at least two hot babes skinny dipping with him in the hot tub of his mansion and letting him do what he wanted to them, or them doing what he wanted to him. Realistically, he figured some drunk girl would wander into the bar after a breakup with her all American boyfriend, looking for a quick rebound. Heâd get trashed as well so they were on even playing ground and fuck her in the van or the dingy bar bathroom and never see her again. How very unmetal of him to say he preferred sex at home with his wife to the other images his brain conjured. Sex at home with his wife suddenly made Eddie sound forty instead of twentyâa thought he quickly pushed out of his mind.
He hadnât slept well at all. You fell asleep quickly and tried to encourage him to do the same but he only got an hour before his nerves woke him up again. The thought of being knocked unconscious and having his arm sawed into did not leave him much peace. The doctors could do whatever they wanted to him and heâd be none the wiser, or something could go wrong and an artery would get nicked, leaving a full blown amputation the only way to stop the bleeding.
He glanced at the clock and winced as the angry red numbers let him know the alarm would be sounding off in less than an hour. He looked at you still sound asleep. Your face was as relaxed as heâd ever seen. No furrowed brow set with an intense glare staring straight through his soul, no ghost of worry pulling your lips down in a frown. He grinned at your chest on full display. How did he get so damn lucky?
Eddieâs new motto was to just go for it. He didnât have much time before you got sick of him, so he may as well soak up whatever he can while youâd still let him. If you didnât want to wake up to him feeling up your boobs like a man on a mission, he was sure heâd get a sharp thump on the forehead to let him know.
Carefully rolling over and settling himself between your legs, Eddie dove right in and grabbed a handful of tit in each palm. He didnât bother stopping the moan that fell from his lips as he felt the squishy softness of each breast. He wanted so badly to touch you everywhere last night but he was unable to focus on which desire to execute first and you gave him very little time to explore before making a man of him. He wasnât complaining at all about how that turned out, but now he was going to take his time.
Kneading the soft flesh got him worked up enough to be more darling and swirl his tongue against the nub of your nippleâsalty from the sweat of last night's activity and velvety smooth against the heat of his mouth. It wouldnât hurt to leave a hickey or five for you to find later, so he left a trail of sloppy bruises connecting one boob to the other. He knew you were starting to rouse when he trapped the pebbled skin between his teeth and gave a playful tug, causing a sharp gasp to fall from your lips.
He hoped you would wake up soon. He knew it would be one of the best things in his life to wake up to the sight of your mouth wrapped around his hard cock. Very few things could top that image.
Eager to give you the same surprise, he let his lips carry him further down your torso leaving kisses across your ribs and belly along the way. He started to get intimidated the farther down he traveled. There really wasnât a wrong way to do this, was there? The girls in the porn heâd seen never seemed to complain, yet he wasnât sure how reliable their input was since they were paid to look like they enjoyed it.
As he got closer to your center, the nerves melted away. Now he fully understood why the warriors in his many fantasy novels claimed the scent of a woman could bring the fall of kingdoms. The redolence of of your slick was intoxicating and helped him forget that he had no idea what he was doing. Careful to not rotate his arm too much, he slipped his shoulders under your legs before continuing his trail of sloppy kisses from the inside of your thighs towards your core.
He knew he got your attention when your hands flew to the top of his scalp after he licked a fat stripe from your hole to your clit. He locked his eyes with yoursâwhich were still hazy with sleepâsilently asking if he could continue. He got his answer when he bravely licked you again, your fingers tangling in his hair and a low moan emitting from your chest.
It took some time for him to find his rhythm. As he licked, sucked, and nipped experimentally at your heat, you took to steering him by the hair and letting him know what you wanted. âNot so fast. Harder. More.â
When he did get the hang of it, his embarrassment from having to be coached quickly evaporated as you rocked steadily against his face, coating his mouth and chin with your essence. It was so fucking hot that if he died within the next two minutes, he would have lived a happy and full life. He could spend the rest of eternity here between your legs, the taste of you would be enough to sustain him and the sounds of your soft mewls were like applause for tinkerbellâall he needed to live.
Your hips started to jerk more erratically against his face and your moans more high pitched. His jaw started to ache from the pressure and he didnât know it was even possible for his tongue to cramp, but as he looked up at you through his lashes and saw your face on the brink of bliss, he knew he couldnât stop. And when his name started to echo off the walls of his room, he didnât want to. Heâd never get tired of thatâa woman screaming his name in ecstasy from the pleasure he was providing. It was almost enough to make him cum too.
With a few more wild buck of your hips against his face, all but your heaving chest stilled. You slowly untangled your fingers from the death grip they had on his hair and moved your legs off of him.
âGet up here,â you demanded with a wave of your hand.
Eddie crawled up your body the best he could without bearing weight on his left side. Before you could tell him to be careful, something he couldnât wait for you to stop saying, he positioned himself so his left hand gripped your hip without rotating or fully extending and slid his arm under the back of your head.
He wasted no time before crashing his lips to yours. The timid shyness of inexperience was no longer going to hold Eddie captive now that he knew what kind of response he could get out of you. Tongues roughly massaging each other, Eddie moaned loudly into your mouth as you hitched your leg around his waist and dug your heel into his back. Getting the message, he lined himself up with your slit and pushed himself in.
ââ
You thought the feeling of Eddieâs mouth on your chest was a very vivid dream until you felt his tongue dart between your folds. You were embarrassed about what you may look or smell like down there after last night, but with the way Eddie was moaning and devouring you like his life depended on it you quickly forgot to care.
Now with his girthy cock pumping into you, you couldnât think about anything except that delicious bite of being full of him. You ran your hands up his taut back and gripped his broad shoulders tightly as you rocked your hips in unison with his. You let out a high pitched whine when the thick patch of his curls ground against your sensitive clit and Eddie made it his mission to keep as much pressure there as possible.
You chased his lips in a sloppy kiss as you continued to moan unabashed into his mouth. Lost in agonizing bliss, your legs started to tremble and your belly was dangerously close to bursting. Without noticing, your nails dug into Eddieâs back in order to ground yourself and hold off your looming orgasm but it wasnât working as Eddieâs pace picked up to a relentless speed.
âJust let go,â Eddie said breathlessly. âIâm close.â
Not even a second passed before you were trembling and convulsing as you rode out your release. Eddie wasnât far behind you as his hips stuttered and let out a feral groan into your neck before he collapsed on top of you.
Panting and trying to catch your breath, the sudden blaring of Eddieâs alarm clock made both of you jump. Eddie was quick to slap the snooze button before rolling off of you.
âGood morning,â he chuckled breathlessly.
You snorted before giving him a quick peck on the chest. âVery good morning to you, too. Iâm going to shower. Join me when youâre ready. Thereâs an antiseptic youâre supposed to scrub your shoulder with before we head out.â You threw your legs over the bed and immediately started to stumble like Bambi when you stood to your feet, making Eddie jump out of bed after you.
âAre you okay?â he asked, failing to suppress his giggles.
You waved him off, trying hard to get the strength back into your legs. âIâm fine, Iâm fine. Just signs of a good time.â You ignored the sexy shit eating grin that spread across his face and made your way to the shower.
â
You could tell Eddie was beside himself with nerves as his leg bounced relentlessly next to yours in the waiting room. You hadnât the heart to tell him what had just transpired with the registrar and billing advocate. Apparently with the marriage the deductible doubled and had not yet been met, meaning the insurance coverage wouldnât kick in until an out of pocket sum of $4,000 was paid. The cost of Eddieâs surgery alone surpassed that, which meant that the insurance would cover eighty percent of the rest of the amount owed.
You knew Eddie well enough to know that at this moment he was looking for any reason to not have this surgery. So regretfully, you would withhold this information from him until the first monthly installment of 500 was due.
When Eddie was called to pre-op, you had to literally drag him by his hand to the exam room.
âEddie, itâs going to be okay, just relax,â you told him as he paced back and forth in the tiny room.
âEasy for you to say,â he grumbled. âYouâre not the one getting sliced open like a cod.â
You rolled your eyes but was saved from answering when the nurse came in with Eddieâs chart. She took his vitals and instructed him to sign the consent form for surgery, which naturally Eddie had a problem with.
âWhy do I need to sign this?â he asked, waving the clipboard around.
The nurse was clearly tired and agitated. It was likely the last leg of her shift and she was in no mood to deal with Eddieâs antics.
âIt says you acknowledge the risks and wonât sue the hospital should you die or lose your arm,â she spat impatiently.
âThatâs enough,â you barked, giving her the coldest glare you could muster. You turned to Eddie who visibly paled. âEddie, itâs just legal mumbo jumbo. The chance of anything like that happening is less than ten percent.â
âBut thatâs still ten percent!â he argued.
You dropped to your knees in front of him and took his hands into yours. âAnd that makes the success rate over ninety percent. Please, Eddie. Sign it and youâll be as good as new within a few hours.â
Eddie yanked his hands from yours and resumed pacing, mumbling rationale to himself about how he could survive with one arm should it just fall off eventually.
You turned to the nurse. âGive us ten minutes, please.â
She scowled. âIf heâs not ready by seven, Dr. Fisherââ
ââI am well aware of Dr. Fisherâs demands having worked with him numerous times in the emergency room,â you interrupted sharply. âPlease leave us and return in ten. Thank you.â
With much attitude, the nurse took her leave and left you and Eddie alone.
It was clear as you watched Eddie pace back and forth, lost in his own spiraling thoughts, that it was going to take something drastic to get him to go through with it. An idea crossed your mind and you immediately hated it. It was deceitful, low, and slimy. You rationalized with yourself that it was for his own good and maybe he would forgive you once he had full range of motion back in a few months.
You stopped him in his tracks and cupped his face in your hands. âDo you want to leave?â
âYes,â he answered without hesitation.
âYou donât want to have your arm corrected?â you continued to probe.
âNo.â
âOkay. Weâll leave.â You sighed, knowing the route you were going to take. Forcing what you hoped was a seductive smirk, you have Eddie a quick peck on the lips. âWanna know a secret?â
Eddie blinked in confusion. âWhat?â
You leaned in to nibble lightly on Eddieâs earlobe before whispering in his ear. âItâs always been a fantasy of mine to do something shameful at work. What do you think?â
You pulled away enough to see Eddieâs cheeks deepen with color. âWhat do you have in mind?â
You gently ran your hand over the bulge in his pants, already half hard from your words, and grinned. âWellâŠitâs only fair for me to return the favor from this morning.â You gripped his length tightly through his jeans, causing him to gasp. âWhy donât you go lay down, hmm?â
Eddie didnât need to be told twice. He flung himself onto the hospital bed and hastily unbuckled his belt the best he could with one hand.
Hating yourself for resorting to such manipulative tactics, you climbed onto the gurney with him and settled between his legs. You pulled up his shirt just enough to show his belly button and kissed the shadow of abs that cut through his pale skin, lightly scraped your teeth across the crest of his hips, and palmed his growing erection through the thin material of his boxers.
âFuck donât tease me,â he begged. âSheâll be back any minute.â
You thought it was cute that Eddie believed ten minutes in nurse language actually meant ten minutes and not damn near an hour, but you let him keep the idea. âThatâs what makes it exciting, no?â You freed his leaking cock from its cloth prison and tried not to be intimidated by the sheer size of him. While you adored the feeling of him stretching your velvet walls, you werenât sure you would get the same pleasure from him jamming your throat.
You never gave a blowjob before, but it didnât seem too complicated. You started by tracing the protruding veins with the tip of your tongue, earning a strangled groan from Eddie. Taking a deep breath, you took him into your mouth. You heard enough from the doctors little powwows that the use of teeth was a quick way to ruin a good thing, so you kept your lips folded over them and started to slide your mouth up and down his length.
It wasnât very comfortable and you werenât at all confident in what you were doing. Maybe Eddie could sense that, because he took your hand in his and placed it around the base of his thick member and squeezed it tight, moving your fist up and down his shaft in unison with your mouth. Eddie quickly let go of your hand and moved it to hold your hair out of your face.
Experimenting with twisting your wrist or flicking your tongue across the tip of his leaking head, it didnât seem to make a difference. Eddieâs hips started to buck into your face no matter what you did. You looked up to see him biting his bottom lip with his eyes screwed shut.
âS-shit! Iâm so fucking close, baby,â he moaned. You knew he had to be because his hips started to stutter. Immediately, you grabbed his hands from you hair and slammed them onto the bed beside him in a tight grasp before pulling your mouth off of him.
âW-what are youâ?â
âSign the papers, Eddie,â you demanded, pulling your face farther from us cock as he tried to buck his hips into your face.
âAre youâare you fucking KIDDING ME?â he screamed, face going red with frustration and anger. He tried to pull his hands from your grip but you wouldnât budge.
You gave the head of his aching cock a quick flick with your tongue. âSign the papers and Iâll let you cum.â
Eddie looked like he was ready to cry as he thrashed under your grasp. You gave another ghost of a lick up his length to keep him on edge before he relented.
âFucking fine! Iâll sign the god damn thing!â he shouted through gritted teeth.
Mercifully, you let go of his hands and went back to taking as much as you could of him into your mouth and stroking him with both hands until ropes of hot cum shot into the back of your throat.
The sudden burst of hot salty goo in your mouth wasnât what you thought it would be. You also heard the doctors get excited over a woman that âswallowedâ but the strong taste left you coughing and gagging as you tried to swallow it down. Not wanting to throw up all over Eddie, you spit the contains in the sink and rinsed out your mouth.
âSpitters are quitters,â Eddie pouted angrily as he stuffed his softened dock back into his pants.
You wiped your mouth with a paper towel and shrugged. âMaybe that will be your graduation present.â You opened the door and asked for the nurse to come in with the forms. Eddie made a point to read the section where it told him to initial if he was submitting to the surgery of his own free will without coercion, but you ignored it and told him to sign it without another word.
Eddie was beside himself in fear and agony as the nurse tried to stick an IV in his hand. You held him still for the IV and the blood draw for preoperative labs. By the time he was dressed in the paper gown and the anesthesiologist came in and tried to tell him about the nerve block they were going to put into his arm, he once again looked like he was going to make a break for it.
You grabbed his hand tightly and explained to him that the nerve block was basically a morphine pump that he got to use for the next three days and he would be over the moon to have it once he woke up from surgery. The nurse took advantage of the distraction and snuck the sedative into his IV.
Within a few minutes, Eddieâs face started to turn pink and he began giggling uncontrollably.
âAnd there he goes,â the anesthesiologist laughed.
âNo, Iâm justâIâm just really fucking scared,â Eddie argued through hysterical laughter. His eyes started to go out of focus as the anesthesiologistïżŒ inserted the nerve block into his bum shoulder.
You put his long hair in the ridiculous blue scrub cap and gave him a kiss on the forehead. âIâll be here when you wake up, okay? Weâll go home and Iâll make you something to eat if youâre up for it.â
Eddie continued to giggle until Dr. Fisher came in and introduced himself.
âNice to see you again, Mr. Manson! What an unfortunate name to have these days.â
âIt would be if they was my name. Itâs Munson. With a U,â Eddie corrected through snorts of laughter.
âLooks like youâre all juiced up and ready to go. Your wifeâhavenât I seen you before?â Fisher asked, turning his attention to you.
âI work nights in the ER. I was on duty with you when he came in,â you answered, completely irritated that Fisher didnât even remember you outside of your nursing uniform. It just goes to show that the doctors believe anyone in the uniform is free game no matter who they are or what they look like.
Fisher clicked his tongue against his teeth. âNow, now. You know itâs against the rules to treat familyâspouses included!â
âItâs against the rules to hit on the nurses too but that doesnât stop you does it, doc?â Eddie laughed.
Fisher didnât even have the decency to look ashamed. âA man wants what a man wants,â he shrugged. âWeâre gonna switch you over to another bed and wheel you to the OR. Iâll see you there, Manson.â
âPrick,â Eddie mumbled once Fisher left the room.
The nurse who was initially ready to kill Eddie for not signing the consent form smiled sweetly as she lowered the gurney bars. âBest not piss off the man whoâs about to fix you up, dear.â
The nurse and anesthesiologist grabbed Eddieâs legs and arms to slide him onto the next bed. In his fully drugged state, Eddie yelled âWait wait wait! My ass is falling out!â when the back of his hospital gown flapped open beneath him.
You couldnât help but laugh at him as his head lolled from side to side when he was dropped onto the second gurney. You gave him one last peck on the lips. âIâll see you soon.â
The nurse instructed you to return to the lobby and help yourself to some coffee while you waited for him. You went to leave the room as Eddie was wheeled out into the hallway before you heard him shout âif I die in there know that I love you!â
You didnât know what else to do besides giggle at his foolishness and blush since not only did he not realize what he just said, but he yelled it for half of the pre-op floor to hear.

You slammed your palm against the door as you pushed it open, stepping out into the dark, you inhaled the fresh air in hopes that it would make you feel better but to no avail. The door slammed shut behind you, you wiped away your tears in anger as you stumbled into the driveway.Â
You didnât want to think about him right now or the words he threw at you but your mind was replaying it all over and over again as you stumbled further into the darkened streets. Your heart was thumbing wildly against your chest, you were starting to get breathless; feeling as though you ran a whole marathon.Â
You put your hands on your knees and bend over in exhaustion. Your throat was closing in on you, your vision was getting blurry, drowning out the music from the party, the loud chatter and laughter of the people inside.Â

It was a bit daunting trying to figure out how to break the news to Aunt Julie. You sat at the table poking at dry pieces of beef, contemplating how to do so. The post-orgasm high long gone as you sat and tortured yourself on the best way to go about this.
But as usual, your mouth betrayed you.
âI have a boyfriend,â you blurted. You immediately locked eyes with Gareth in a silent plea to have his support on this.
Julie choked, dribbling mashed potatoes down her chin. âWhat?â She quickly turned to Gareth, her blue eyes wide with bewilderment. âDid you know about this?â
Gareth gave his mother an obnoxiously sweet smile and his best puppy dog eyes. You couldnât be more appreciative of Garethâs attempt to butter her up. ââCourse. Heâs a good dude.â
âWell?â Aunt Julie exclaimed expectantly. âWho is it? Do I know him?â
You nodded curtly âEddie.â
Aunt Julieâs eyes slowly started to bulge as her mouth gaped open and closed like a fish out of water.
âBreathe, mom,â Gareth instructed, gently patting her shoulder.
âNo,â aunt Julie choked. She shook her head vigorously, letting her silverware clatter noisily against her plate. âNo!â
Gareth intervened immediately. âCâmon, mom! Eddieâs not so bad!â
âHeâs really sweet, aunt Julieââ
âSWEET?â Aunt Julie shrieked. âThat boy isnât sweet! Heâs a dead end is what he is! The whole family is nothing but drug-addled heathens!â
It was your turn to throw your cutlery down with a crash. âOh, okay. If heâs such a crackhead then why is Gareth allowed to hang out with him, hm? Itâs okay for Trip but not for me?â
Julie slammed her elbow into the table, pointing a very threatening finger between your eyes. âGareth canât get pregnant by him! Gareth knows better than to fall into the drugs and foolishnessââ
ââMom!â
âAnd Iâm not smart?â you yelled back. âAll the shit my mom had around and you think Iâm stupid enough to end up like her? You donât think I know what that kind of shit does?â
âYou think youâre so much better than your mother but That boy is as close to Grant Emerson as you could get, girl!â Julie huffed. âYour daddy wasnât around enough for you to know what he was like, but take one look at Eddie Munson and youâve got him! And Eddie is a spitting image of that bastard father of his, Iâll tell you that! Sex, drugs, and all the rest of it is what youâll get messin around with him!â
You narrowed your eyes. Your temper was getting harder and harder to control, especially with the insult of comparing Eddie to both your father and his own. There was going to be only one way to force her hand, and while it was a low blow, you werenât above taking the low road. âEddie is nothing like Elvis.â
âElvis?â Julie and Gareth repeated in unison, faced contracted in an identical look of confusion.
You crossed your arms over your chest and sneered. âElvis Presley. You know, the portrait Aunt Julie has hung up over her bed like a catholic would a crucifix? The king of rock nâ roll?â
Julie and Gareth shared a look of bewilderment before turning back to you.
âSay, wasnât he a drug addict that died from an overdose while he was on the toilet? Didnât he marry a fourteen year old girl? Isnât Elvis one of your idols that you worship like he hung the moon?â
Gareth had to physically suck in his lips to bite back his grin as Julieâs face reddened in anger.
âNow you look hereââ
âNo, you look!â you shouted, face throbbing from fury. âEddie is nothing like his dad or mine or the sex addicted junkie you think he is! Heâs weird, yeah, but so are me and Trip! Heâs good to me and that should be all you care about! Iâm only telling you because I wanted to invite him and our friends to Thanksgiving here!â
Julieâs face went from burgundy to pale in a flash. âWe donât do thanksgiving.â
You looked to Gareth for help, but he looked equally flushed and at a loss for words.
âWell we should! Neither me or Eddie have ever had a proper thanksgiving and itâs past time to bring it back! Gary wouldnât have wanted you sulking and wasting away on his behalf!â
Julieâs eyes welled with unshed tears before she hid her face in her hands. She didnât say anything and neither did Gareth, who kept his unseeing gaze fixed upon the tabletop.
You sighed, willing all the anger and bitterness to exhale with it. âItâs something we could all benefit from and Iâd like to share a special day with my boyfriend, my new friends, and my family. Is that too much to ask?â
Julie didnât move an inch, keeping her face hidden. âGo to your room,â she mumbled from beneath your hands.
âOh for Christ sakââ
Julie slammed her hands flat onto the tabletop causing both you and Gareth to jump at the sudden bang. âGO TO YOUR ROOM, GODDAMNIT!â
The overly animated, sweet as a pumpkin pie Aunt Julie was replaced with a red faced, wild eyed animal. Any argument you had lined up died in your throat as you retreated to your room.
Honestly, you werenât at all surprised by her reaction, but there was still some disappointment. Julie of all people should know better than to judge people based on their parentage and wicked rumors. She had a whole tirade sheâd go one about bullying and the psychological effects it has on people, but apparently the sentiment didnât apply to Eddie.
Miserably pouting on the floor of the guest room, you continued to seeth. There wasnât much she could do to stop you anyway. The worst thing she could do would be to kick you out, but you were sure Eddie would be thrilled at the idea of having you come stay with him. He nearly said as much when you told him you were going to tell Julie about the relationship.
Around a half hour later you heard Julie shouting your name from the dining room. You werenât really sure what to expect, but you were still pissed and ready to go down swinging, both literally and physically, if she tried to forbid you from seeing him.
You sat back at the table. The horrendous beef and broccoli replaced with a bowl of ice cream in front of everyone.
Julie sighed heavily and cleared her throat. âWhat is it that you like about Eddie?â she asked cautiously.
You shot a look at Gareth, trying to gauge the line of questioning. He nodded his head towards his mom and gave a small smile.
âHeâs funny, handsome, smart even though he doesnât want anyone to know it. Artistically inclined. He really is sweet and sensitiveââ you raised your eyebrows at Gareth ââtease him about any of this and Iâll cut your tongue out.â
Gareth held his hands up in surrender. âNot a peep.â
âAnd he smells really good,â you finished listing with a shrug.
Gareth wrinkled his nose. âI dunno about that. Barry has to remind him to put on deodorant almost every morning when he comes in.â
Eager to share your newly obtained knowledge on the subject, you straightened up in your seat. âThatâs the thing though! If someoneâs body odor smells good to you, itâs a sign that youâre compatible and your offspring will have a superior immune system because of the biological match!â
Julie and Garethâs faces melted into horror.
âIâm sorry, whatââ
ââAre you telling me you want children with this boyââ
ââYou like the way Eddie stinks?â
ââbecause he smells good?â
Your eyes flickered back between Julie in Gareth, trying to figure out where the disconnect was. Gareth was closer to the money than whatever the hell Julie was trying to say.
âDid you guys not hear what I said?â you questioned.
âI heard that you want to have Eddieâs smelly children,â Gareth answered with a wrinkled nose.
You huffed in frustration. âIâm saying that if someoneâs natural scent, their pheromones because we actually are animals, is alluring that means youâre compatible with that person. If someone smells revolting, that means that youâre not an ideal pairing and the offspring wonât benefit in an evolutionary sense from the union.â
The other two Emersonâs still looked extremely lost.
Getting really freakin annoyed, you jammed the heel of your palm against your temple. âYouâre missing the point! Iâm trying to say weâre a good match. On a personal level, romantic level, intellectual level, and even a biological one.â
Julie frowned. âThat is an awfully bizarre thing to say about someone you just started dating.â
âYeah, thatâs probably not something you should say out loud to anyone else. It makes you sound weird and obsessive. About Eddie, of all people,â Gareth advised through a grimace.
âYouâre the one that agreed that heâs a good dude!â
âHe is a good dude, but I canât say âoh yeah his swamp nuts smell good tooâ.â
âI didn't say anything about his ballsââ
ââOKAY!â Aunt Julie exclaimed, making the timeout T with her hands. âEnough of that please! I brought you back out here to say yes, you both can invite whoever you want for thanksgiving dinner, BUT, I wonât be cooking. Weâll do a potluck. Everyone brings a dish and we eat that way.â
Gareth frowned. âYou want to invite people to our house after having them cook their own dinner?â
âThat doesnât sound very hospitable,â you agreed.
Julie shrugged. âThatâs how weâre doing it. Oh, and Y/N, youâll be washing the dishes since itâs your idea.â
âFuck that!â you exclaimed, pushing the bowl of ice cream away from you and ignoring Julieâs remark about foul language. âWeâll use paper.â
Gareth scoffed. âYou? Using paper? Little miss âwe have to bury produce to feed the ants?ââ
âIâd rather eat the compost than do dishes,â you deadpanned.
âWell you canât send guests home with dirty dishes. Thatâs rude.â
âHaving guests bring their own food is rude!â you argued. You attempted to explain to them both that washing dishes was almost torturous for you. Touching wet food, having your hands soggy and shriveled while the rest of your body was dry, the scraping of steel wool against a disgustingly crispy piece of burned food was downright nauseating. When Julie asked what you planned to do when you moved on your own and had to do the dishes, your answer was simple: paper plates, aluminum cookware, budgeting in a maid, or withholding sex from your husband until he was trained to do it without blackmail.
âFine, Iâll do the dishes,â Gareth sighed. âIt would be cool to have a real thanksgiving again.â
Squealing in excitement, you raced to the phone. Gareth helped you by rattling off the numbers of each one of the Hellfire members.
Jeff couldnât make it since he was going to visit family in Chicago for the holiday. Barry immediately said yes while Mike, Nancy, Dustin, and Lucas said they would have to join later in the evening after their own dinner, which was a little disappointing but not really a problem. You called Robin next who said yes and that Steve would be in attendance as well since his parents went away every year for a 14 day cruise down the Rhein during the holidays and he would certainly be surviving on scraps of sliced cheese and canned whipped cream if left to his own devices.
âGuess what, handsome?â you squealed into the phone.
âYou survived your auntâs wrath?â Eddie guessed. âOr you didnât and youâre calling me to come pick you up?â
You twirled the curly cord around your finger. âThree injured but zero dead. Thursday you and Mr. Uncle Wayne will be welcome to Castle Emerson for a feast. Though you have to bring your own food.â
âWill you stop saying that?â Julie shouted from the dining room. âItâs called a potluck!â
âFine. A potluck. Being your favorite dish from Changâs Chinese Palace. With everyone bringing something there should be more than enough for everyone.â
âDo I have to dress up?â Eddie asked.
You shrugged even though he couldnât see you. âI dunno. Not sure anyone runs around in pilgrim and Indian costumes after elementary school, do they?â
Gareth snorted, still standing guard over your phone calls like a prison guard. âThatâs not what he meant, and no. No one is dressing up.â
âSure you heard that so there you go,â you added.
âFuck off, Gareth! I donât like it when youâre monitoring my phone calls!â Eddie shouted through the receiver.
You turned to Gareth with a smug smirk. âEddie said go away.â
âIâm in my own house! He canât boss me around here!â Gareth exclaimed.
âTrip, leave her alone and come help me fold these socks,â Julie demanded from the dining room.
You sneered triumphantly at Gareth as he put both middle fingers up and stormed out of the room.
âAny plans for the rest of the week?â you asked.
âMmmâŠthought about hanging out with this super hot chick but her aunt and cousin are also on break and it might be hard to get some time alone with her,â he answered.
You peeked around the corner to see Julie and Gareth grumbling about how many unmatched socks were left over before whispering into the receiver.
âWell I just spent a few good minutes trying to convince my aunt that youâre not a sex craved deviant. Are you sure you want to risk making a liar out of me?â you whispered.
âWithout a secondâs hesitation,â he answered quickly.
You wanted to talk freely, but knew that there wasnât going to be a way to do so over the phone. You tried your best to inconspicuously relay the message to Eddie, but he seemed to be missing every hint you were putting down. You told him to come over tomorrow afternoon to hang out and he agreed before disconnecting the line.
âYou should really ask for permission before you invite people over,â Julie warned sternly.
âWhy?â you questioned. âWe donât have plans tomorrow.
âI know youâre not used to structure or having to ask permission for things, but itâs polite and courteous to ask before inviting someone to the house,â Julie attempted to explain.
You rolled your eyes. âIn that case, Barry will be coming over in the early afternoon too. Heâs going to help me with that horrible math assignment.â
âY/N! You canât just do that!â Julie screeched. âThere are rules in this house!â
You raised your eyebrows at her. âSo I guess I should call him and say his generous offer of assisting me is offensive?â
Julie huffed and puffed incoherently before shooing you off, muttering to Gareth about your lack of house training.
â-
Never had you been so eager for a Thursday before.
Barry came over every mid-morning to help with your homework. It was going swimmingly until Julie decided to stick her rather unhelpful nose in the mix and told Barry to stop doing the work for you, something he hadnât realized you conned him into.
âDonât do it all for her. Sheâs got to learn to do it herself if she wants to pass,â Julie tutted.
You scowled. âDonât listen to her. I need all the help I can get.â
âNo, sheâs right. Youâre going to have to figure this out so you can do well on your exams,â he replied, showing your notebook and textbook back in your direction.
Grumbling miserably, you tried your best to focus on the work before you. It was just as torturous for Barry to fry and teach as it was for you to absorb. By Tuesday afternoon he gave up and just did it for you, much to your pleasure. For his hard work, you gave him free lunch and Garethâs left over Halloween candy.
Eddie was by almost every day as well. By noon heâd come to the door, insisting you join him on a walk. If Barry was still around, heâd join along with Gareth to trek around town. Most things were either extremely busy in preparation for the holiday while other shops were barren and deserted.
While you were grateful for the company of your friends, by Wednesday you were really craving to be alone with Eddie. You werenât able to talk over the phone without Julie or Gareth eavesdropping. He didnât want to get caught sneaking in or you sneaking out of the guest room before thanksgiving because he didnât want to ruin the possibility of it happening. You asked to hang out with âRobin and Steveâ, but Julie was much less trusting now that she knew about Eddie and always insisted they could just come over to the house under her supervision instead of you going out with them. Steve and Robin did come over once and played a very heated game of Gin Rummy that left Robin and Steve quite literally butting heads. It was still good fun, but not at all what you wanted out of your Tuesday evening and Julie was well aware of that as she smugly grinned at you from the kitchen.
It was downright aggravating. Even if nothing lewd took place, you wanted to be able to be with Eddieâhim and no one else. The best idea that could make this happen was getting Gareth and Barry into a deeply heated nerd argument about Star Wars at the arcade so they didnât notice you and Eddie slip away into the cleaning closet.
Even though the overwhelming smell of bleach was almost too much to bear, you didnât care. As soon as Eddie pushed the heavy mop bucket in front of the door, your arms were wrapped around his neck and pulling him into a long overdue hug.
He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled closer to him. âI donât know how much time we have. The Luke and LeĂa knowing if they were siblings when they kissed debate can only go on for so long.â
âI donât care,â you mumbled into his neck. âI just wanted you all to myself even for just one minute.â
Eddie laughed and kissed your cheek. âDonât tell me you miss me?â
âOf course I did,â you replied. âA frightful amount if Iâm being honest.â
It wasnât a lie. Ever since Saturday Eddie was like an earworm invading your brain. He was all you could think about. His smile, tickle of his long hair ghosting across your neck, the feel of his fingers pressed against your core. It was almost annoying how much you wanted to be near him, and when amongst company you couldnât show him the full extent of your longing. Wanting to hold and be held by him, feeling his chest pressed against yours, the sound of his laugh rumbling deep within his chest. You had never felt like this about anyone, let alone be allowed to indulge in the enjoyment of such simple pleasures.
You didnât care what Gareth said, Eddie smelled delicious. Earthy. Warm. Could do without the tobacco that followed him around but no one is perfect. Youâd ask him for the shirt off his back so you could use it as a pillowcase if it wasnât such a horrific thing to ask for.
But yet, heâs got a whole damn lingerie set of yours and you could only imagine the horrifying things heâs done with it. Well, it wasnât horrifying for you. You were actually getting pretty curious about what kind of shenanigans he could get up to with your black lace panties.
Instead of asking you pulled your face out of the shelter of his neck and crashed your lips against his in a hungry kiss. He eagerly met your pace, slinking his hands from your waist down to knead the flesh of your butt, making you giggle and nipping his bottom lip sharply.
âI wish you wore that skirt,â he said breathlessly.
âWhyâs that?â you purred, twirling a piece of his wavy hair between your fingers.
He smirked as his hands circled from your butt to the front of your jeans. âFor starters, easier access for this to worââ
The door of the closet was being jostled open. The industrial mop bucket getting shoved out of the way as the only employee in the place, Keith or Kevin or whatever his name was, came barging in, sending you and Eddie jumping apart.
âHey! You donât work here!â the guy exclaimed. âGet out!â
Taking your hand in his, Eddie pulled you out of the closet and back to Gareth and Barry, who were still arguing like their life depended on it.
â
While you hadnât had a thanksgiving in near a decade, you werenât familiar with the tradition of starving the entire day until dinner was ready. Julie made you privy to this when you attempted to toast a waffle for breakfast. She quickly snatched it from the toaster and chucked it back into the freezer.
âNo, no! Not today!â she sang, wagging a finger at you. âNo food until dinner. That way youâll eat better.â
âWhat?â You shrieked. âThatâs not even remotely fair! Youâre not even cooking!â
Julie grabbed a stick of butter from the fridge and shoved it into your chest. âBut you and Trip are! I got all the stuff you asked for yesterday at the store. You may want to get started.â
You glanced at the digitized clock on the stove. âYou want me to start cooking dinner at nine in the morning?! Trip isnât even awake yet!â
Julie looked far too pleased at your misery as she clapped her hands together. âChop chop!â
Washing the pile of fresh vegetables you foolishly asked Aunt Julie to buy for the stew you planned to make, You screamed the lyrics to Genesis' Invisible Touch at the top of your lungs repeatedly until Gareth came stumbling into the kitchen to tell you to shut up or die.
âGood, youâre up!â you cheered. âAunt Julie says youâve got to start cooking your mac n cheese.â
âItâs not even ten o'clock in the morning!â Gareth exclaimed in irritation. He poked his head out of the kitchen to argue with his mother, who was still giddy with glee that she wasnât the one cooking and forbade Gareth from eating a crumb until the guests came. Grumbling to himself, Gareth fished the crock pot from under the stove.
âThis is fucking stupid,â he seethed, fluffy hair sticking in every which way. âCanât believe I let you talk me into this. Next year weâre ordering Chinese and that's it!â
Both starving and raging with hunger induced anger, by three oâclock, both you and Gareth had to be separated from each other before acts of cannibalism could be committed. Every time he breathed, you were ready to kill him. Every time you cracked your knuckles, Gareth was quick to jump on your case over it. The only thing that saved the day was Barry, sweet gentle giant Barry, ringing the doorbell.
âGet the door,â Gareth barked at you from the other side of the couch.
You threw a decorative pillow that he was too slow to dodge. âYou get the door.â
âOh for god sake will you both just stop it!â Julie hissed, giving each of you a smart smack on the back of the head before plastering on a fake smile and opening the door to greet Barry.
âHi, Barry! Welcome!â she cooed in her high pitched teacher voice. She offered to take the hot pan as she ushered him inside.
âHey, guys!â he greeted cheerfully with a wave.
âHave you eaten yet today?â you asked.
âYeah?â he chuckled awkwardly, taking a seat on the sofa.
âSee, mom! Youâre lying!â Gareth yelled across the house. âPeople do get to eat before dinner!â
Julie ignored this statement as she began to hum obnoxiously loud from the kitchen.
Steve and Robin showed up within a few minutes of Barry. Robin brought a rather sad looking attempt at a pecan pie which looked more like pecan puke and Steve held out a store bought pot of stuffing.
âAunt Julie if I donât get to eat soon I am going to pass out,â you warned, gripping your rumbling stomach.
âCome set up the table then. Take your mind off things!â she exclaimed rather too sweetly.
Two tables were brought into the dining room. One for the food and one for sitting. Your caldo, Barryâs chicken spaghetti, Garethâs lobster Mac n cheese, Robinâs pecan disaster, and Steveâs stuffing sat atop on, leaving just enough room for whatever Eddie and the rest of hellfire brought when then came.
Steve gave your large pot of stew a stir, sticking his face almost completely in the pot to inhale deeply. âWhat is this? Smells good.â
âCaldo,â you answered. âA stew. Beef. Vegetables. Good stuff.â
Steve then started to poke at Garethâs macaroni and cheese. âWhatâs the red stuff?â
âLobster,â Gareth sighed, slapping Steveâs hand as he tried to grab a piece with his fingers. âWill you quit it! Get your dirty hands out of my food!â
Another knock on the door sent you sprinting to the front. It could only be one person since the freshmen said they wouldnât be joining until after five.
âEddie,â you breathed, opening the front door and seeing him standing there next to Wayne, both holding brown take out bags. You roughly grabbed Eddie by the elbow and yanked him in the door.
âEveryone is here! We can eat!â you screamed, dragging Eddie into the dining room.
âThank god!â Gareth exclaimed, nudging Steve out of the way rather ungracefully.
âJesus Christ! What happened to guests first?â Steve exclaimed, stumbling from Garethâs harsh shove.
âHeâs right, Gareth! Guests first!â Julie chided. She took the take out bags from Eddie and Wayne and introduced herself to Wayne. With the Chinese food uncovered and placed delicately on the table, Julie instructed the guests to take as much as they wanted and to sit wherever they pleased at the table.
âWhatâs up your butt?â Eddie snorted, flicking Gareth in the cheek.
âI wouldnât do that,â you warned Eddie quickly. âNeither of us have eaten since last night.â
Eddie mouthed âohâ at you before leaning towards you ear to whisper âIâve got something you might like to taste.â
You never heard Eddie be so bold, especially in such close company. Your face started to feel aflame and only got worse as Gareth turned to give Eddie a most murderous glare.
âWhat? I was talking about the Kung Pow chicken!â Eddie defended. He gave you a quick wink as Gareth rolled his eyes.
With plates piled high and glasses filled, everyone sat around the crowded table and began to chow down. Julie was a little bummed that the only vegetables that seemed to grace the table were what was in your caldoâthat Steve nearly ate the entirety of aloneâand the snow peas in the Chinese food. Barryâs chicken spaghetti had to be sprinkled with crack because it left you and Robin fighting over the last scoop of it. Eddie had three plates that he kept shoveling food from and attempted to answer Julieâs many questions in between bites.
The arrival of the freshman took a lot of attention off of Eddie as Nancy came in with them. Steve immediately started choking on the Kung pow chicken Eddie brought, spewing bites and pieces everywhere when he saw her come into view.
âEasy there, tiger. Donât hurt yourself,â Robin snickered, patting Steve harshly on the back to dislodge whatever he had left in him.
The freshmen brought left overs from their own meals. Dustin brought some rainbow marshmallow fruit salad, Lucas and his sister had some sticky pork ribs, and Mike and Nancy brought over a pumpkin pie that actually looked like it was supposed to.
âI bet itâs not as good as yours,â Gareth whispered to Robin, earning himself a look of pure shock from you as you watched the encounter. You had to suppress your burst of laughter as you watched Steve and Robin silently communicate with wiggles of their brows at Garethâs failed attempt at flirting.
You linked your hand with Eddieâs when he finally stopped eating and couldnât help but plant a kiss on his cheek.
âGod, I ate too much,â he groaned, rubbing his bloated belly. âThose ribs were the nail in the coffin.â
Wayne hummed in agreement as he continued to gnaw at the last remaining meat on the rib still clenched between his teeth.
âWell, Iâd like to thank all of you for coming!â Julie smiled. âItâs our first Thanksgiving since my husband died and Iâm glad Y/N and Gareth have all of you to share it with.â
It really was a beautiful thing to see as you scanned the crowded table. A few months ago you had been eating raw ramen noodles straight out of the bag in a house without any power. No friends, no family, no boyfriend. Now surrounded by an overprotective aunt and an annoying cousin that youâd take a bullet for. Friends that you enjoyed the company of that also enjoyed you enough to spend a day of food and family with you. And Eddie. Sweet, sexy, gorgeous Eddie who smiled at you and brought your intertwined fingers to his lips for a gentle kiss.
He was the one person you could really be yourself around. As the saying goes, âwarts and allâ. He didnât make you feel stupid for the things you said or the thoughts you shared with him. He didnât leave you feeling insecure or wanting to change things about yourself. Eddie Munson was the most genuine soul youâd ever met and he made being yourself so much easier. And to you, thatâs all that mattered.
Before coming to Hawkins, you didnât think about your future muchâliving day by day, hour by hour. A year from now seemed like too far away to concern yourself with. Imaging yourself at thirty seemed to be a cruel joke. But since Eddie came into your life, you couldnât help but fantasize about what the future held for you if he could be apart of it. Christmas, graduation, maybe even prom. The idea of turning twenty five didnât seem so daunting if Eddie was there to help you blow out the candles. Marriage didnât sound like a death sentence and motherhood didnât seem so terrible of all those kids had Eddieâs big brown eyes and soft curly hair.
Maybe it was dangerous to put so much power into another person, but you couldnât find it in yourself to care. Eddie could be all you needed.
âNever thought Iâd be sharing a meal with The Hair,â Eddie smirked at Steve.
âTo be fair, Munson, I didnât think youâd be ever have a girlfriend so mark me as equally shocked,â Steve retorted with a smug grin.
âOho, you think youâre so funny, donât you?â Eddie sneered playfully.
âIgnore him, heâs just jealous,â Nancy winked.
Gareth went around collecting plates to dispose of. You followed him and helped clear up the trash once everyone started to throw in the towels with full bellies. Eddie joined the both of you in the kitchen to refill his coke and watch as Gareth miserably filled the sink with hot water.
âSomehow I feel like this was a really shitty trade,â he groaned. âI had to cook and Iâm doing the dishes?â
âYou know, this is my first thanksgiving without a single shred of Turkey,â Robin mused, setting a like of dirty dishes next to Gareth. âWe should all chip in for a Turkey on Christmas. We could stuff it!â
A perfect opening for payback for Eddieâs earlier comment. You leaned over to Eddie as he took a swig of his coke. âTurkey wonât be the only thing getting stuffed on Christmas.â
Immediately, Eddie started choking, spewing coke from his nose and coughing whatever he had in his mouth out onto the floor as he tried to catch his breath.
âYou two are fucking disgusting!â Gareth scowled over his shoulder.
âYou didnât even hear what I said!â you defended innocently.
âI didnât need to! I can hear you thinking!â
âOh Jesus Christ,â Eddie gasped between coughs. âThat was embarrassing!â

The sound of Eddieâs alarm clock rang throughout his cluttered room. He threw his arm over your head in effort to turn off the horrendous blaring and stared at the belligerent red numbers: 6:30am
He groaned and flicked the button off so the alarm wouldnât sound again. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he looked down at your snoozing form curled against his chest.
He grinned to himself as your hair tickled his chin and gently ran his fingertips up from your elbow to the top of your shoulder and back again. He felt less guilty for enjoying the proximity than last time since the previous night ended on a good note. He was extremely nervous that youâd spot the raging erection that cursed him when you walked into the room with no bra on, nipples visible from under the thin muscle shirt he let you borrow, but you didnât seem to notice as you threw your dress on the floor and slid into bed next to him.
He hoped that maybe, just maybe, youâd put some moves on him and to hell with his arm. But after a few minutes of chatting and trying to get comfortable, you asked if you could use him as a body pillow since he was so warm. What was he going to do, say no? As if. Within minutes you were knocked out cold. So he relished in the warmth of your body pressed against his and deserted the idea that things would go further. And that was okay. Two months ago he was only dreaming of a girl in his bed, so he counted his lucky stars for the dream becoming true to any degree.
The last thing he wanted was to move from this spot ever again. He contemplated not going to school for the rest of the week, but figured if he tried it you would undoubtedly rip him a new one and make him go anyway. When you took it upon yourself to tutor him in Anatomy & Physiology, he thought it would be a great way to get to know you, and it was for the most part, but your annoying habit of saying things like âEddie, you know this! Youâre not stupid, just focus! I know you can do it, just stop dickinâ around!â drove him a bit crazy. No one had believed in him like that beforeânot even himselfâand it was a big reason why he ended up passing. You told him he could do it and he eventually believed it.
He continued to drag his fingers up and down your arm until the clock struck 6:45. With much regret, he tried to untangle himself from you, but you were most unwilling to budge. He had worm out of your death grip the best he could, but he ended up tripping over you and slamming his knees into the back of your thighs.
âWhat are you doing?â you hissed in annoyance as he tumbled rather ungracefully from the bed.
âI gotta get ready for school,â he answered quietly, trying to put on a shirt.
âSchool? Whaâ? Eddie, what are you talking about?â you grumbled sleepily.
He chuckled to himself and turned to face you once his shirt fell into place. He froze as he saw you propped up on your elbows with the sides of your breasts peeking out from the sides of the muscle shirt, grimacing at him.
âUhâs-school,â he stuttered, trying not to get caught staring. âI gotta go get my smarts.â
You rubbed your eyes, making your breasts jiggle and nearly sending Eddie into an early grave. âNo, just come back to bed,â you whined, throwing yourself roughly back onto the pillow.
Eddie was torn to shreds. Part of him wanted to be a gentleman and a scholar and get his ass to school, knowing that you only said that because you were still half asleep. The other half wanted to dive right back into bed and grab a handful of tits to bury his face in.
Much against the will of the devil perched on his shoulder, Eddie said âCanât. Got to pass this year.â
âFine, do whatever you want,â you muttered miserably.
Fuck. That was probably the worst thing to say to him. Battling with his thoughts until his head started to hurt, he relented and slithered back beneath the blankets. Immediately, you scooted right back to your original position. Eddie was straining to breathe as you slid your cold hand across his belly, fingers brushing against the top of his boxers.
âComfy?â he chuckled nervously, gently moving his injured arm so he was able to slide his hand up and down your forearm.
You hummed lightly in response, and drifted right back to sleep immediately. He looked at the silver ring adorning his left hand. It had been weird enough to get used to his class ring not being on his middle finger anymore, and now to see a wedding band decorating his ring finger, was almost an out of body experience.
He thought that maybe the rings would be too much. Wayne said he was fretting over nothing, as usual, but he wanted everything to be perfectâfraudulent wedding or not. When he saw that you were crying, he thought he made a grave misstep and wanted to mention that if you didnât want it, heâd take it back and say it was just for the ceremony and had no meaning at all. But when he saw you grinning at it lovingly in the car, a great wave of anxiety evaporated from his chest.
The anxiety and dread quickly returned when he saw the wretched banner over the window of Bennyâs. He thought for sure, without a doubt, that you would have panicked and instantly regretted allowing him to tell people about the union. Again, much to his surprise, you looked happyâthough sometimes confused at the behavior of his comradesâand he was once again at ease.
He found himself wondering while gently caressing your bare thigh during the movie if it was normal to feel so content with another person or if it was just infatuation. He was beginning to think that maybe there was a chance of making this a real relationship, if saying real marriage was too far, with how you instructed him to come back to bed and wrapped yourself around him like a koala to a branch. Just friends didnât do that, right? He certainly wouldnât be cuddled up with Gareth like this, thatâs for sure, and heâd like to think you wouldnât either.
So he formulated a plan as you tangled your legs between his. If he failed, he would just ignore that he ever made an attempt and file for divorce the day of the one year post op appointment and never let himself dwell on the thought ever again.
Unfortunately, he didnât see you at all for the next ten days. You returned to your apartment and normal schedule. He would call here and there before he left school to check in, and sometimes you were able to catch him at the end of your shift before he left for school. The conversations never lasted longer than a few minutes and mostly consisted of apologies for not being around, quickly exchanged pleasantries, and rushed goodbyes. For ten agonizing days, Eddie wondered if maybe this was the universe once again telling him that the two of you were always going to be ships in the night and to just leave it be for good. It wasnât until the day before his surgery that he got an inkling that maybe not all hope was lost when you called the house.
âHello?â he answered.
âHey, itâs me,â you breathed into the receiver. âI took the next week off and let my charge nurse know that Iâd keep her updated on if I needed to extend it. Think that will be okay?â
Eddie blinked in confusion. âTook a week off for what?â
âFor your surgery. I told you Iâd take care of you.â
Eddie gulped nervously. âIâm not gonna be a complete invalid am I?â
âNo,â you chuckled. âI thought Iâd be there to help if you need it. Should I not have done that?â
Yes, you said that youâd take care of him, but he thought that was just an empty promise like all the others heâd been told when someone said theyâd do something for him. The more he thought about it, the more he came to realize that not once had you gone against your word with him.
Eddie was glad you couldnât see his face turning to a violent shade of crimson. âNo, that's perfect. I just wasnât thinking. Would it be easier for you if you just stayed here or do you want me over at your placeâŠ?â
âI was thinking I can come over tonight? Iâve got some laundry and stuff to do before I head home.Youâll need to be at the hospital by six in the morning tomorrow for pre-op.â
âOf course. Iâve actually got something here for youâWell, us. Nancy Wheeler gave it to me after class yesterday. I was waiting to see you again so we could open it together.â
âWould it happen to be the shape of a new car or toaster?â you quizzed.
âYouâll see when you come by, but I can almost guarantee that itâs not a new car.â
You giggled and told Eddie youâd be home once you were packed and ready.
At first he thought you misspoke, but saying it twice couldnât be an accident. You referred to making the trip to his house as âcoming homeâ. He didnât even attempt to hide the giddy grin that took over his face.
His giddiness was short lived as he realized what a disaster the house was. He was certainly not prepared to have a womanly guest in the trailer for more than an evening. In a panic, he threw off the dreaded sling so he could make use of his two hands and got to picking up all the dishes and washing them, throwing away all the junk and emptying the trash into the bins, emptying the numerous ashtrays across the counters and washing those as well.
Wayne watched Eddie zip and zoom around in amazement, offering a few helpful suggestions whenever started to look around in a panic as if he forgot something.
âWash your bedding?â Wayne questioned.
âShit!â Eddie exclaimed, quickly sprinting into his room to throw the sheets and blankets into the machine.
âCould put the dry dishes where they belong,â Wayne suggested. âOh, and donât forget to get all that hair of yours out the tub drain and sweep the bathroom floor.â
With the bathroom clean, his bed washed, dried, and remade, the floor of his room completely visible for the first time in nearly a decade, the bathroom relatively clean, the dishes washed and put away, Eddie collapsed onto the couch in exhaustion just as there was a knock at the door.
Eddie looked at Wayne, silently begging him with his sad doe eyes to get the door since he just sat down.
âThatâs your wife, not mine!â Wayne huffed, shaking his head.
Eddie shuffled farther down the couch, closer to Wayne and staring harder. âI beg of you, the greatest uncle in the world, to please open the door since I, your humble servant, just sat down.â
Wayne let out a long irritated sigh and got up, grumbling about Eddie being a spoiled rotten twerp. He slipped on his coveralls and work boots before opening the door.
âEvening, Y/N. Just on my way to work,â Wayne said, brushing past you. âHave a good night.â
Eddieâs heart nearly exploded when he saw you step into the house with a duffle bag thrown over your shoulder. He missed you so much that it was scaring him a little. It was rare for him these days to see your hair outside of a tight ponytail and cascading around your face, and he hadnât seen you in a pair of jeans since high school. The denim hugged your figure in a way that the nursing dress didnât do justice. While two years didnât seem to be a long time, your body certainly went from awkward teen to full figured woman quickly.
You smiled at him when you saw him sitting on the couch. âHey. Is it okay if I go throw this in the room?â
âMi casa es tu casa,â he answered, grinning back.
He heard you remark at the cleanliness of his room and clinking about in the bathroom before coming back to join him on the couch.
âWhereâs your sling?â you frowned.
âNever mind that,â he waved his hand dismissively. He grabbed the wrapped gift from Nancy shaped like a book from the coffee table and handed it to you. âOpen.â
You sighed dramatically as you ran your hand over the top of the paper, ring glistening atop your finger. âDefinitely not a toaster.â
He watched as you delicately ripped the blue and white wrapping and revealed the leather cover of a book embossed with a heart.
Panic quickly settled in to Eddie. He wasnât sure what would be inside the book, but he had a pretty good idea.
You opened the book and a smile that could illuminate the sun spread across your face as you saw the pages decorated with photos. Eddie let out a breath he didnât realize he was holding in.
The first two pages were the ones you both posed for after the judge pronounced you married, and others he hadnât known Wayne took at all. Such as the exchanging of the rings and the kiss that sealed the deal. Eddieâs favorite photo was the one where he instructed you to make a face. He noticed that the two of you made the exact same expression with crossed eyes and tongues sticking out. The caption written in swirly writing read âMatch Made in Heaven!â Eddieâs heart stuttered when you gently thumbed the photo and said it was your favorite too.
The next pages were filled with the set up of partyâDustin taking pictures of himself standing next to Benny and a variety of attendees while they set up the diner, photos of Steve holding open the box of cake with his mouth hanging open and pointing at the baker who made it, and snapshots of the gang hand painting the banner that was placed outside of the window. Besides the complete absurdity of Eddie even having a wedding album to begin with, having Steve âThe Hairâ Harrington as the cake runner and attendee was definitely one of the stranger things within the pages.
Eddie and Steve werenât friends. Eddie thought Steve was a total preening peacock prick, and it frustrated him how many girls threw themselves at Harringtonâs feet at the slightest whiff of his hair spray. Eddie didnât have much, but he prided himself on having his own character and convictions. Steve, on the other hand, just had whatever other jerk at school didâmoney, privilege, girls, and undeserved respect.
Dustin Henderson swore up, down, and all around that Steve Harrington was now reformed and no longer took part in high school jackassery. Eddie didnât believe it. He didnât even want to consider it. But, as Eddie scanned over the photos and saw Steve mingling with former Hellfire members like they had been friends for ages, he found it hard to deny.
The following pages were of you and Eddie sitting at the head of the table in the handmade crowns, smiling at each other like two love struck idiots. He couldnât help but notice how his smile ramped up to 10,000 megawatts whenever he was next to you, whether you were looking at him or not. It was daunting to see how obvious his infatuation was. So much so that he wanted to graffiti his own face to hide it. The pictures with the cake feeding were quickly passed as he hated to see the look of distress on your face, but the numerous photos of him posing with his friends, the attendees posing with each other, and a few photos of Benny in the kitchen pretending to be disgruntled made up for it.
The last few pages were blank with a handwritten note in the same loopy writing that read, âTo fill with more memories as they comeâŠ
-Nancy W.â
Eddie watched as your eyes filled to the brim with appreciation, tenderness, and awe, you flipped the book back to the front and went through it again, pointing out minor details to each other that went unnoticed the first time around.
âDo you like it?â he asked cautiously. If you didnât, heâd throw it in the bottom of his closet to be forgotten about along with the pesky feelings he had. If you did, heâd let it be known that it was now one of his most prized possessions and leave it on the coffee table to be thumbed through anytime he wanted.
âI love it!â you squealed, sending his heart into overdrive. âIâll have to write them all thank you notes or something. It really was a thoughtful party and gift.â When finished with the second viewing, you rose to your feet and went into the tiny kitchenette. âAre you hungry? I can make you something.â
He came to join you and followed your lead as you instructed him on how to make some sort of vegetarian pasta that ended up being really good, despite his hesitance.
You filled him in on all the memorable patients that had come through within the last week. A 93 year old woman with Alzheimerâs who kicked you in the face as you tried to get a urine sample from her. A young woman high on angel dust that had to be restrained so she didnât scratch herself bloody as she attempted to free the spiders that were crawling in her veins. A man who claimed to have fallen on a dinner table and had to have pieces of a glass candle stick fished out of his rectum. Eddieâs face was hard to control as it morphed into irritation, sadness, disgust, and an attempt to hold back a fit of laughter in which he failed miserably.
He watched as you stood from the table and took the dishes to the sink. He suddenly felt on the verge of choking up everything he just ingested. He thought he had a plan, but the longer he thought about executing it, the worse the idea seemed. He thought that maybe he should abandon it all together and do as Wayne suggested and just ask, but that seemed too safe and too boring.
As he watched you hum idly to yourself and the way that your butt jiggled when you scrubbed the dishes, the angel on his shoulder started to grow quieter. It was going to be now or never. You werenât shy. He was sure if you didnât want him that youâd have no problem saying so and striking him across the face. Shuffling to his feet, he came to stand behind you before timidly wrapping his arms around your waist.
Instead of shoving him away like he feared, you leaned back into his chest and pressed your butt against him. This gave him the confidence he needed to push your hair off to the side and rest his chin atop your shoulder, cheek to cheek with you.
Though you hadnât nudged him away, he thought that maybe you werenât into it as you took your time drying your hands of the soapy water. âCan I help you, dear husband?â you mused.
âDo you like me?â he blurted, immediately wanting to bash his head into the cabinets for sounding so stupid.
âYeah,â you giggled.
âNo, I mean like me,â he attempted to clarify.
âYes, Eddie, I know what you meant,â you giggled again. âAnd the answer is the sameâYes.â
Eddie let out all the air in lungs in a sigh of relief. You spun in his arms to face him, hands slinking up his chest and linking together behind his neck. âIâve told you this at least a hundred times!â
âYeah, butâI donât know! You say it like itâs a factââ
ââthatâs because it is a fact. I like you. If I didnât, I would have just let you go home in that pathetic ace bandage and told you to take some Tylenol.â
Eddie chuckled nervously. âWayne said the same thing.â
You rolled your eyes at him. âYou could have just asked me, you know.â
Cheekily, Eddie replied âIsnât that what I just did?â
ââ
âI thought you were the one that was hesitant about me,â you informed him. âYou go rigid anytime I flirt with you, even back then.â
Eddie frowned. âItâs just hard to believe. I donât have anything to give or share. I have no money, no education, no future. I just convinced myself that you would never seriously consider anything with me more than maybe fun. Thatâs one of the reasons I never tried again. Figured youâd be much better off without lil ole me keeping you down.â
âEddie,â you huffed. âWhy do you think I volunteered to tutor in the first place?â
âIf I remember correctly, I didnât have much choice in the matter. You sort of just abducted me and made me memorize shit,â he laughed.
You smiled bashfully. That was almost exactly how it went down. In an eager attempt to get alone with him, you cornered Eddie in the hallway after class and told him he was going to meet you after school on Thursdays. No question was asked, it wasnât delicately brought to him as an optionâyou told him he was going to do it and that was that.
âI just thought my stupidity annoyed you,â he shrugged. âWanted a competent lab partner, I guess.â
The hurt and self doubt in Eddieâs soft eyes was unbearable. You tightened your grip on his neck so he was pulled closer down to your level. âYouâre a fool to think that. Iâve wanted you since I walked into A&P on my first day and saw you pouting at the thought of dissecting the frog on the table.â
Eddieâs cheeks turned to a deep hue of maroon. âSee? Thatâs insane! You came in there slicing and dicing like Jack the Ripper while I tried not to pass out. How is that alluring?â
âJust because Iâm interested in science doesnât mean you have to be for me to like you. Havenât you heard âopposites attractâ? Youâre good at artâdrawing, music, using your imagination to create new worlds for your game. I canât do any of that. I can listen to music, but thatâs about it. I canât even draw a stick figure properly. Does that put you off?â
Eddie sighed. âWell when you put it like thatâŠBut interests aside, you can do better.â
Hearing Eddie still trying to talk himself out of accepting your affection was heartbreaking. âI donât want better. I want you.â
Nose wrinkled, Eddie didnât seem convinced. It was really starting to irk your nerves. What was it going to take to get it through his stubborn head that he was enough? There had to be a way to show him. Telling him wasnât enough and apparently marrying him was only muddying the waters of clarity for him.
Sliding your hands from the back of his neck to cup his stubble cheek you gently slotted your lips against his.
Tentatively, Eddie parted his soft lips and moved them against yours. Though you could feel his hesitance likely caused by overthinking, you made it your mission to make him give in to his desire rather than thought. You brought him impossibly closer to you, noses crashing into each otherâs cheeks. This seemed to spur him on as his mouth moved more confidently. You eagerly met his pace, determined to show him that it was always him you wanted.
Tender exploratory kisses that left your chest ablaze turned hungry and fervent as you bravely swiped your tongue over his bottom lip. Unabashed, he moaned loudly into you as the tip of his tongue slid delicately across yours. You felt like a furnace with how hot your skin was burning. Youâd never experienced anything like it before. The way the coil in your belly tightened at the sensation of Eddieâs hands gripping your hips and the feel of his hardened length pressing against the softness of your abdomen. Your own body betraying you as you felt your own arousal pooling between your legs.
Body buzzing as he pulled away for just long enough to breathe, he watched you through heavily lidded eyes chasing after his kiss. Breathlessly, you nipped at his bottom lip and was able to lure him back in.
He had to knowâknow that even if the marriage was a fraud, your feelings for him werenât. You moved your hands from his face and held them against his, sliding them from your hips to the smooth skin of your waist, taking your shirt with them. The cold bite from his rings calmed the heated skin of your sides as he pulled your top over your head.
âWhoa,â is all Eddie could say as he watched you reach behind your back and unclasp your bra. His eyes nearly fell out of their socket when you flung the bra across the kitchen.
He was already bug-eyed seeing you in a bra. Now with your chest bare, the shock on his face looked as if you threatened to kill him if he didnât recite the Magna Carta in perfect Laotian.
Nervous that maybe you went a little far with him, you gently ran your thumb over his plump bottom lip. âTell me what you want,â you whispered.
Clearly that was the wrong thing to say as Eddie struggled to do more than just choke on half uttered syllables and gape at you. âI-Iâwhaâc-canâroom,â
âRoom?â you repeated in confusion.
Eddieâs mouth was instantly back on you as he tried to herd you out of the kitchen. As the two of you clumsily closed the distance between the kitchen and his bedroom, you made him promise to be careful and to stop if he had any inkling that his shoulder was about to give. He agreed between sloppy kisses, mumbling âFuck it. Iâll super glue it back on if I have to,â as you took turns bumping into the walls of the hallway. You knew he wasnât listening and would probably agree to shave his head and eat dirt if you asked him to. Though you tried to battle the fog of lust to remain somewhat coherent to make sure he didnât further agitate his ribs or shoulder, the attempt was lost as soon as Eddie kicked the door closed behind him and started to carefully peel his shirt off.
While you had seen him shirtless a few times now and had no shame in using his chest as a pillow the last couple of times you spent the night here, it didnât change the fact that this felt different. Lightly brushing your fingertips over his pale skin, you traced the outlines of his tattoosâthe frightening demon on his chest, the spider under his collar bone, the dragon that traveled from his hip bone up the side of his fractured ribs. âDo they still hurt?â you asked quietly.
He shook his head. âEven if they did, I donât care,â he breathed, roughly unbuttoning your jeans and ripping open the zipper.
You stopped him from dropping to his knees in front of you, insisting if he rotated his shoulder upwards like that it would snap. Eddie was getting annoyed with the constant reminder to be careful and instructed you to stop worrying so much.
âWorst comes to worst itâs getting fixed tomorrow anyhow,â he chided, nodding towards the bed.
Taking the hint, you stripped out of your jeans and underwear and turned your back to him before getting on the bed. Suddenly you were very nervous about being like this in front of Eddie. Naked. Exposed. Vulnerable. While it seemed like a good idea in the kitchen, youâd never been intimate with someone like this before.
Your first time wasnât anything like this. A meaningless encounter in the back of a car with a dude that Emily insisted wasnât a bad guy. Within three minutes it was already over and felt more invasive than enjoyable. No kissing, gentle touches, or any kind of warm up for you. It was painful and mildly humiliating at that. Since then, there was no one and you were never in a rush to repeat it.
But when you climbed on the bed and faced Eddie again, watching as he awkwardly tripped over himself as he tried to untangle his ankles from his pants with his tongue sticking out in concentration, your concern evaporated. This goofy, sweet, sexy idiot wouldnât hurt or judge you, and this was about him not you.
When Eddie rather ungracefully clambered onto the bed next to you, you were going to chastise him for not being careful before you caught sight of his hard cock slapping against his belly as he settled onto his back.
âJesus Christ, you walk around with that thing?â you blurted, eyes most likely bulging at him.
Eddie blushed under the sudden scrutiny and shrugged. âKinda.â
Now or never, and never was certainly not an option. Mustering all the bravery you had, you slung your legs over his hips to straddle him. Like a magnet, Eddieâs hands went straight to grip your thighs. His breath hitched when you took his velvety length in your hands and slowly stroked him. Youâd never been in control like this before and werenât really sure how to move for it to be enjoyable for the both of you. But you did know that you were practically aching to have him inside you, belly wound tight and center throbbing.
You lazily slid the tip of his cock in between you slick folds, causing both of you to moan at the sensation.
âW-wait!â Eddie exclaimed, clutching your hips tighter. âI donât have condoms or anything.â
You shook your head. âNifty invention called birth control,â you breathed, once again lining him up against him.
Eddie pulled you away from him again. âWait! Donât you need toâI donât knowâget ready first?â
Getting a little frustrated, you shot him a death glare. âEddie, Iâm already there and Iâve waited for you long enough.â
You raised your eyebrows at him silently asking him if he had any more protests. He quickly shook his head and tightened his grip on your hips as you sank onto him inch by inch.
You were sure everyone and their dead mother could hear the high pitched moan that escaped your lips. It was dizzying to feel so full. Your walls kept involuntary clenching around him when he bottomed out and you didnât care to try and control it. He felt so good, every part of him touching every part of you, ensnaring all your senses to focus on the feeling of him filling you up.
Already breathless, you brought your eyes to Eddieâs, or would have it they werenât clenched shut. âFuckfuckfuck,â he muttered quietly to himself.
You leaned forward and took his face in your hands, kissing him with a renewed fervor. He had to know. You had to make him understand that this was what you wanted. Him. Only you and him tangled together in a mess of passion.
You pulled your face away from his. âLook at me,â you whispered. Eddie obeyed, fluttering his eyes open and locking them with yours. His pillowy lips fell open in a silent scream when you leaned back, sliding your hands over his chest.
Slowly grinding your hips against his, you kept his attention on your face. âI want you to seeâI want you to know that itâs always been you.â
Eddie let out a moan from so deep in his chest you could feel his lungs vibrate beneath your hands. âI-Iâm not gonna last longââ another strangled gasp fell from his lips. ââfuck!â
âThen donât,â you breathed. Truthfully, you werenât going to either. The indescribable pleasure of him stretching your walls that kept sucking him in deeper on their own accord, seeing his beautiful face tinged with pink and pouting as he tried to bite back his release, knowing that it was you that was making him fall apart was pushing you closer to the edge must faster than you would have liked. This moment was too perfect to end so soon.
âWe have time,â you said aloud more to yourself than to him. âAll the time we want.â
Eddieâs grip was getting unbearably tight on the bones of your hips, so you started to bounce on his hard cock faster and faster until you were so lost in chasing your own climax that you didn't notice the pain of his rings digging into your flesh anymore. The sound of his pleasure mingling with yours, ricocheting off the posted walls of the room. You didnât care if the noise was loud enough to wake the deadâyou wanted everyone to know what he was doing to you, how he was leaving you breathless and incoherent, especially Eddie himself. The guttural groans and breathy moans erupting from Eddieâs chest was now your favorite tune.
âEddie!â you wailed, scraping your nails down his chest to relieve the ache of your clit as you bounced harder and harder onto him, the tightening coil in your belly on the verge of snapping. âIâhahâIâm soâmmm!â
âShit, me too,â he groaned, his hips stuttering as they met yours. âFuck, say my name again.â
So you did. His name fell from your lips like a prayer until the burning coil in the pit of your belly snapped in half, blurring your vision and making your slick cunt convulse around him, coercing his orgasm out as well. His mouth hung open as he hips jerked wildly and fucked his cum deeper inside of you.
It took a few moments to return back to reality from the shared realm of lust. staring at each other with flushed, sticky skin and heaving chests. When you felt him starting to soft, you slid off and collapsed next to him, shoulder to shoulder.
âDo you believe me now?â you panted, turning your head to face him.
He nodded vigorously, his hand flat against his forehead in a lame attempt to cool himself down. âYeah. Yeah I believe you.â
You smiled smugly to yourself. âDamn. I was hoping maybe you needed some more convincing.â
Eddie chuckled breathlessly, his grin making your heart stutter at the sight.
Things felt different now, at least for you, as you watched Eddie catch his breath. His goofy grin still plastered on his handsome face, his wild wavy hair sticking to his damp cheeks. Eddie was always sexy in a rugged way. But now with a newly formed bond between the two of you, things felt softer, gentler, more authentic.
âCâmere,â Eddie instructed, lifting his arm up so you could resume your usual spot against him. You threaded your legs through his, your heart giddy with bliss at the new level of intimacy.
âYou know whatâs funny?â he asked suddenly.
You hummed in response, lazily tracing the outline of the muscles on his belly.
âI think we just consummated our marriage,â he laughed.
You laughed, too, looking up at him and giving him a long, loving kiss that you tried to pour all your feelings into. He needed to know what he meant to youâand now he did.

âSo youâre still crushing on Eddie Munson?â
Your eyes widen, grip tightening on the telephone âw-what?â you exclaim, straightening your back as you sit up on your knees, the cushions of the couch soft beneath your legs.
âWe have been talking for what- an hour?âÂ
âAn hour, twelve minutes and thirty seconds to be exact.â another voice cuts in, making you furrow your brows in confusion, who is that?
What to expect: All the feels of last chapter and then a lil more
A/N: Welcome back, friends! I agonized over this for way too long so if you like it please let me know đ«
Eddie wasnât a nervous vomitter until today. He stayed home from school because there wasnât any way he could focus with the wedding being in a few hours. Eddie Munson skipping school wasnât out of the norm but Eddie Munson skipping school to get married? Fucking unthinkable.
Dustin was so damn smug about it at lunch on Monday. The little shit couldnât wait until all the members of Hellfire were seated before casually asking Eddie if he agreed to marry you. Eddie knew it was coming so he wasnât at all surprised by Dustinâs tactic. He also expected Gareth to shoot Dr. Pepper out of his nose and Barry to choke, and he was certainly not disappointed. It was actually quite funny and Eddie was loving it. His friends gaping at him with wide eyes and open mouths, demanding to be filled in on what they everloving hell Henderson was on about. He couldnât help but brag that he, their leader, was going to be a married man in two days.
He tried to play it down like it wasnât a big deal. You were just helping him in a tight spot because you were nice. No one believed him for a second, and he was kind of glad for that. With you, he wasnât sure how he could act about it. But at school where you were nowhere to be found? He could fill in blanks to fit his fantasy and none would be the wiser. Except maybe Dustin, but Eddie wasnât planning on a fifteen year old butting in on his marriage behind closed doors. What a funny concept: his marriage.
Despite his insistence that he would not share any gritty details of things that may or may not occur in the marriage bed, it didnât stop the Hellfire guys from letting their imagination run wild.
âGonna be difficult to do with only one arm,â Barry observed with a laugh.
âWhy? Eddieâs only ever fucked with one hand anyway!â Jeff teased, earning himself a sharp kick in the shin.
It wasnât like Eddie hadnât thought about it cause he certainly had, but between his shoulder, the broken ribs, and the fact that he hadnât even kissed you yet, it seemed unlikely he was going to be going all the way any time soon, if at all.
Dustin, of course, took all the credit for being the curator of the union. He said it was his intervention that brought the two of you back together again even though Eddie made it damn near impossible and tried to throw it away every chance he got. Eddie had no retort for that, knowing that there was truth in the statement.
By noon Eddie was sure there wasnât anything left in his guts to throw up, but he was wrong.
âJesus Christ, you got a bug or something?â Wayne shouted from the living room.
Eddie wiped his mouth and went back to the living room. âNo. Iâm just nervous.â
âAinât nothing to be nervous about,â Wayne grumbled, laying his head back on the cot. âYou go sign some papers, give her a smooch, and then go eat at Bennyâs.â
Eddie didnât like Wayneâs oversimplification of it. True, if you looked at the brass tacks, thatâs all today was, but Eddie had a habit of making a big deal out of nothing even if it wasnât on purpose, and today was no different.
ââââ
Hair wrapped in curlers and running around naked trying to remember how to put clothes on, you felt a little ridiculous when getting ready for the courthouse. It wasnât like the movies where your mother and best friend were cooing at you while doing your hair and applying your makeup, searching for âsomething old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,â and giving tips on how to satisfy your new husband on your wedding night. Being alone in your empty apartment smearing on some eyeliner felt extremely underwhelming and lonely. Perhaps that was for the best. The next wedding, the real one youâd have if you were so lucky, would be different. You wouldnât have your mother there, thatâs for sure, but Emily could be the one to share the moment with you.
When Eddie pulled up in front of the apartment complex, you giggled at his attire. It turned out that his âgood shirtâ was the exact same blue as your dress. He did look exceptionally gorgeous today. His hair was combed neatly and even retained most of its waves. Your rugged crush was replaced by some spiffy lad and it was downright adorable.
âDonât you look handsome!â you exclaimed as you climbed into the van.
He bowed his head at the compliment. âThank you, madam. You look positively radiant, even if you did steal my color.â
Though he was just being silly, the compliment still made your head fuzzy. âExcuse me, sir, your colors have always been black and red. Blue is mine, especially cobalt blue,â you argued.
Eddie grinned as he took off down the main road. âPaid enough attention to me back then to remember my colors?â
You chuckled. âEddie, you made it your mission for people to pay attention to you.â
He shrugged and instructed you to pull out Anthraxâs Spreading The Disease tape from the console and pop it in.
He cleared his throat, something you were beginning to notice he did when he was nervous. âWanna know why I was so pissed when you didnât come to that show?â
You frowned at the reminder. Would he ever just let that go? âWhy?â
He tapped his finger against the stereo. âMe, Jeff, Barry, and Gareth learned how to play Lone Justice and Madhouse so we could surprise you.â
Your blood ran cold as it coursed through your veins and your jaw slackened. âYou didnât,â you whispered.
Eddie nodded, lips pressed in a flat line and his eyes kept on the road. âTook a few weeks and a lot of belly achinâ from Gareth. He hates Anthrax.â
Your giddiness was zapped away. You lowered your eyes to your lap in shame. No wonder he took your absence so personal. You had no idea that he was doing that. Well of course not if it was supposed to be a surprise. No one had ever done something like that for you. Listened to you gush about the things you liked, let alone remember and try to replicate it for you. Weeks of practicing to impress you? His friends pitching in to help make it special? âRomanticâ wasnât a word youâd think youâd ever associate Eddie âThe Freakâ Munson with, and yet with his proposal and this new information coming to light, thatâs all you could think to describe him.
Fucking piece of shit Martin and your wretched mother! All you could think of was if you had been able to go, what could have happened between the two of you. If he had busted out Madhouse and dedicated it to you on stage on the first sorta date, you could almost certainly say heâd have your virginity by the end of the night. If that happened, maybe this trip to the courthouse wouldnât be just for the insurance.
âIâm sorry,â you murmured, idly picking at the seam of your dress.
âWhoa, hey! Donât get all blue on me now! I wasnât trying to make you feel bad,â he exclaimed, head nervously turning from the road to you and back again. âNow I know you would have been there if you could. Iâm sorry I even brought it up. Jus-just forget it. I donât know why I told you that.â
âYou could have invited me to the next show, you know,â you grumbled. Yes, while it wasnât your fault you missed the initial show, Eddie could have told you the truth after the numerous times you asked about seeing him play on a different day.
âCouldâve,â Eddie agreed with a frown.
You wanted to lighten the mood. You werenât supposed to be freakin depressed right before your wedding, genuine or not. So you shoved Eddieâs shoulder playfully so he didnât veer off the road and said âWell, I guess youâll just have to play it for me once you get out of that sling. Thatâll be my wedding present.â
Eddie smiled softly, brown eyes shimmering in the sun. âGareth is going to have a meltdown when I tell him heâs got to brush up on those songs.â
â
Who knew getting married was so much paperwork? You had to have signed at least fifteen documents by now, not clearly understanding any of them as the clerk sped through the explanation for each one and glared at you if you dared ask questions. So you gave up on asking and signed your name so many times that you almost hated to look at it anymore.
Even though the blood test only consisted of a finger stick, Eddie was still beside himself when he saw the sharp pin that the clerk was going to use.
âA&P made you squeamish, needles terrify you, and youâre scared of a tiny little pin-prick. For the Devilâs spawn you are not very hardcore, Eddie,â you huffed, holding his wrist firmly against the desk top so the clerk could jab him.
âDonât tell anyone,â he hissed. âIf the village people find out they wonât offer up their cats for sacrifice anymore.â
The clerk gave you and Eddie a look of disgust before announcing, âCongratulations. Youâre not related. Now sign this.â
When all was done, you followed the clerk into a little room with a few rows of rickety chairs and a bench where the judge already sat, looking extremely bored. Wayne was there dressed in his coveralls for work and clutching a little disposable camera. Even though you knew it was just some words, you couldnât help the sudden anxiety that coursed through you. You had to stand in this room in front of three other people and have them watch as you and Eddie pledged your âloveâ to each other. It was nerve wracking and you suddenly understood why so many women took the alternate route and became runaway brides.
The clerk moved you and Eddie to stand on little pieces of tape on the floor and face each other. It was suddenly extremely intense having him stare down at you with your hand wrapped in his. Was he always this much taller than you or were you just feeling like the size of an ant right now?
Heart racing, face most certainly drained of any color or blood, and hands trembling, you waited for the judge to begin.
âWe gather here today to witness the matrimony ofââ the judge shuffled a few papers around trying to find the license that was just handed to him. âEdward Munson and Y/F/N Y/L/N, who will walk the paths of life alongside each other as husband and wife. Look into each otherâs eyes and repeat after me. Ladies first.â
You looked into Eddieâs big brown eyes and wanted to faint. What seemed to be a good idea was now sending you into damn near a panic attack. But as you glanced at Eddieâs arm in its sling, you remembered that this wasnât about you. It would be cruel to call it off now and have wasted everyoneâs time and energy.
âI, Y/F/N Y/L/N, take you, Edward Munson, to be my lawfully wedded husband. To have and to hold, to honor and cherish in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for as long as we both shall live,â you recited, wanting to rip your tear ducts out as they threatened to betray you.
It was comforting to see that Eddie was almost visibly green when it was his turn to repeat after the judge. At least you werenât the only one freaking out.
âI, Edward Munson, take you, Y/F/N Y/L/N, to be my lawfully wedded wife. To have and to hold, to honor and cherish in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for as long as we both shall live,â Eddie repeated shakily. You werenât sure if it was your hand or his that was swearing so much, but it was making holding on to each other almost impossible.
âDo you have the rings?â the judge asked unenthusiastically.
âNo, we donât have rings,â you answered.
âYes, we do,â Eddie argued with a small smile, pulling out two silver bands from the inside of his sling and handing you the larger one.
Another romantic surprise from Eddie. He was making it exceedingly difficult to remember that this wasnât more than an economical arrangement.
âRings are a visible symbol of your commitment to one another and to remind you day to day of your eternal love. Take the ring and place it on your belovedâs finger and repeat after me. Ladies first.â
Trembling, you took the silver band and slid it on Eddieâs finger carefully to not move his bandaged arm around too much, âWith this ring, I thee wed, and pledge my love to you.â
When Eddie put your ring on your finger, you got a good look at it. A plain silver band with a tear shaped opal in the center. It was beautiful and very untraditional, much like Eddie. âWith this ring, I thee wed, and pledge my love to you.â
Even though it was just words that held very little meaning, you still felt obnoxiously sentimental and embarrassed as a few treacherous tears escaped your waterline.
âNow that these rings have been accepted and these vows exchanged, with the authority provided to me by the State of Indiana, it is with my great pleasure to present Mr. and Mrs. Edward Munson. You may kiss your bride.â The judge slammed his gavel down and stared at you and Eddie expectantly.
You were too afraid to ask Eddie about this part in the van and he didnât mention it either. You decided that youâd go in for a quick peck and if he decided to instigate a little more, youâd let him.
But sadly, he didnât. You both gave each other a quick peck like one would give their smelly aunt and left it at that.
âCongratulations. Please exit on the left,â the judge droned.
âWait wait, smile!â Wayne instructed. You and Eddie stood side by side, both flashing your rings and smiling as Wayne took a picture.
âOne more,â Wayne insisted.
âMake a face,â Eddie whispered.
When Wayne counted to three, you couldnât see what Eddie was doing with his face, but you knew it had to have been funny because Wayne was getting irritated. You ended up crossing your eyes and sticking out your tongue.
âGoddamn it, boy, give me a nice one!â Wayne chastised.
Eddie wrapped his arm around your shoulder and you slid your around his cute little waist, resting your other hand on his chest so your ring could be seen.
âGot it!â Wayne announced. âAlright, letâs go.â
You untangled yourself from Eddie and couldnât help the nervous giggles from erupting as you looked up at your new husband, who instantly started laughing hysterically when he looked back at you. Walking side by side, you excited the courtroom and made your way to the parking lot.
âInsane!â Eddie exclaimed, throwing his good hand up in the air for emphasis. âAbsolutely fucking insane!â
âCompletely ludicrous,â you agreed through your giggles.
Wayne was already climbing into his truck when he handed Eddie the camera to put in his sling and said goodbye.
âI donât know about you, but I am starving,â Eddie announced, clutching his stomach.
âI didnât eat either,â you informed him as you let him open the passenger door for you and got into the van.
âOh, I ate,â Eddie corrected. âI just couldnât keep it down.â
âThought of marrying me that nauseating?â you teased, hoping he wouldnât catch the sting in your voice.
âMore like utterly nerve wracking,â he said. âYou were the one in tears back there at having to marry me.â
Your face warmed at the accusation. âTears of joy, dearest husband.â
Eddie snorted and started the car. âAre you against Bennyâs?â
âSounds excellent.â You eyed your wedding ring and couldnât help but smile. It was unexpected, beautiful, devastatingly romantic and all yours.
âSorry itâs not like a diamond or anything fancy,â Eddie muttered.
You turned to give him the biggest smile your body would allow. âI love it. I think opals are very pretty. And so is my ring. Thank you.â
Eddie looked relieved at the confession and drove towards the direction of the diner.
When you guys pulled up to the dingy shack, Eddieâs face blanched as he parked the car.
Too busy admiring your new ring, you didnât notice you arrived or that Eddie exited the van until you heard Dustin screaming at the top of his lungs.
Eddie was trying to chase Dustin around the van. You hopped out of the car to ask what the hell was going on when you saw the banner hanging from the front window of the diner.
WELCOME, MR. & MRS. MUNSON
âWait, wait, wait, wait! WAIT!â Dustin screeched. He came to stand behind you like a human shield when Eddie came sliding across the hood of his van like Bo Duke. âIT WAS MR. MUNSON. IT WAS WAYNE. WAYNE DID IT!â Dustin screamed as Eddie tried to reach around you and grab Dustin by the neck.
âYouâre full of shit, Henderson!â Eddie seethed.
âThen how would I know youâd be here!â Dustin yelled, still trying to dodge Eddieâs grasp.
That made Eddie freeze. Dustin took the opportunity to dash back inside the diner.
Eddie wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and sighed. âI had no idea about any of this. If you want to leave we can just go.â
âOf course I donât want to leave!â you grinned, trying to let Eddie know that you werenât embarrassed in the slightest. âHow many people get to say they had their wedding reception at Bennys?â
âYeah?â Eddie asked with raised eyebrows. âItâs okay?â
You nodded your head towards the front door. âCâmon. Your friends are waiting.â
Eddie opened the door for you and you couldnât hold in the gasp that escaped your lips as you entered the restaurant.
Bennyâs was always a hole in the wall with a sticky floor and worn chairs with chipped table tops. But now? The place looked alive with red and white banners, the tables covered in bright tablecloths, a big table full of food slid against the wall, and one long table made up of every other table in the building lined in a row. The room was filled with people you recognized and some you didnât.
âOh Jesus Christ,â Eddie huffed, coming in behind you.
You turned to him with a frown. âAre you mad?â
He scanned the look on your face and gave a small smile. âNo, not mad. Shocked is a better word. Is it too much?â
You shook your head, a smile creeping across your lips. âI love it! Is that okay?â
Eddie gave you your favorite kind of smile. âOf course it is, sweetheart. Happy wife, happy life, remember?â
You jumped for joy and walked further into the restaurant. When the party goers noticed that the newlyweds had arrived, they turned towards the door and started cheering. You had never experienced anything like this and judging by the look on Eddieâs face, he never had a big crowd like this happy to see him either.
In true hellfire fashion, the club made crowns fit for a king and queen and placed them on your heads. While at first the party seemed flattering and like great fun, you were getting nervous with the attention. Eddie must have noticed because he quickly took command of the room.
âAlright, alright!â he shouted, ushering you towards one of the two seats at the very end of the table. He plopped you down onto your âthroneâ and sat next to you while everyone followed his lead and scrambled to get a good seat. âWhat are all you nerds doing here anyway?â
âCelebrating the wedding of the biggest nerd of all, nerd!â Jeff answered with a huge grin and threw a rolled up straw wrapper at Eddie.
This got a roar of cheers, whoops and hollers, and a bunch of hands slamming loudly against the table. Honestly it was kind of frightening and made your eyes go wide at the response he was getting from them. You knew Eddie was charismatic in his own way, given his showboating and loud demeanor everywhere he went, but seeing him the last few weeks wounded and trying to be careful with his words made you forget how downright rowdy he could be.
Eddie leaned closer to you to introduce his friends. âYou know Jeff, Gareth, and Barry, and Dustin of course. That there is Mike and Lucasâthey came to the house. You might remember Hellfire alumni Ronnie, Miles, and Kumiko, andâHarrington?â
Steve Harrington came in with Nancy Wheeler and another girl you had never seen before, holding a big box that he sat on the food table. He opened it to reveal a sheet cake with white frosting and âcongratulationsâ in red loopy icing.
âMy delivery fee is food,â Steve announced, taking a paper plate and filling it with handfuls of fries and burgers.
âGuess everyone should feel free to eat,â Eddie shrugged.
With that, the attendees started to line up to make their plates. Gut suddenly writhing in knots from nerves, you stayed away from the food and went to speak to the only other girls in the building.
âHi,â you said sheepishly with a little wave.
âCongratulations!â the unfamiliar girl shouted as she launched herself at you in a hug. Your face must have reflected your surprise because Nancy had a time trying to hide her laughter behind her hand.
âThanks,â you said, gently trying to untangle yourself from her. âI didnât canât your name?â
âRobin!â she exclaimed. âYouâre a brave soul to try and tame that beast over there.â
You followed her nod towards Eddie who was pretending to be impaled in the chest by Barryâs invisible sword.
You laughed nervously at the scene. This was the Eddie you remembered from school. Loud, screeching, opinionatedâbut during your study sessions he was a lot less boisterous and could be managed. It was nice to see him in his natural habitat amongst his fellow species, even if they were a bit overwhelming at the moment.
âDo you want me to go around and take some pictures?â Nancy offered, wiggling the camera laced around her neck. âDonât worry, my fee can also be paid in food.â
You watched Nancy flash a bunch of pictures of the many characters making faces at her or each other, arm wrestling, and eating Bennyâs yummy burgers.
âThis is more of a bachelor party than a wedding reception,â Robin observed.
âYeah, but I donât have anyone I would invite, so itâs okay. Though I wish that whoever that guy is would stop trying to get the other one to smell his armpit.â
âHey! Guy!â Robin shouted, pointing at the one named Kumiko. âThere are ladies present!â
Eddie, loudest of them all, boomed, âThatâs right! There are ladies in attendance so stop being so damn uncouth!â
You laughed when you realized Eddie sounded just like Wayne at that moment. When you told him as much he put on a teasing sneer and then gave you a wink.
When it was time to cut the cake and possibly do the one thing traditionally done at receptions was to feed each other a slice. The cake was donated so generously by the freshmenâs compiled savings, which was so unbearably sweet that you hugged each boy as tight as you could.
You warned Eddie to not, under any circumstances, smash the cake in your face. He might have thought you were teasing, but when your face flashed with panic and fear when he said he couldnât promise anything, he retracted the statement and agreed, much to the disappointment of the crowd.
Even though he respected your wish, you were still trying to calm yourself from the anxiety of possibly having that done to you.
âHey, whatâs wrong?â Eddie questioned, brow furrowed in worry.
You shook your head and quickly wiped your hands clean of the sticky frosting from the piece you fed him. âItâs nothing, Iâm fine.â
âTell me,â he insisted.
You didnât want to look directly at him when you told him this, so instead you focused on a stray piece of king that clung to the outside of his sling, picking at it mindlessly. âDo you remember how I got this scar on my forehead?â
Eddieâs face fell. âShit! Iâm sorry, I wasnât even thinking of thatââ
ââI know,â you interrupted. âBut anything shoved in, on, around, against my face takes me back somewhere ugly and I donât want to be there ever again.â
Eddie grabbed the hand that was picking at his sling and squeezed. âAnd you wonât. Not by my hand.â
Still not meeting his eye, you forced a smile and suggested he eat some more cake.
The party went on until the sun went down and Benny announced that the restaurant was to be opened back up to the public.
âYou donât have to go home but you canât stay here!â he shouted from the kitchen.
The attendees started to pick up their mess and a few of the more familiar ones started making obscene gestures at Eddie that you pretended not to see as you put together a to-go plate of food and cake for Wayne.
You thanked everyone, especially Benny who was always kind to you on the occasions you stumbled in for breakfast after work. It took Eddie forever to stop high fiving, wrestling, and head butting almost every other person in the building.
âI am married to a fool,â you laughed to yourself
âReady to go home?â he asked with a tired sigh as he finally made it to the front door.
Nervously, you answered. âI donât really want to go back to an empty apartment.â
Eddie looked bewildered for a second before the thought clicked in his head. âOh! Sorry I meant myâŠhome. Didnât even think about your place. Duh.â
A grin started to form on your lips. âThen Yes, Iâm ready to go home.â
The ride to Eddieâs was almost torturous. He said he hadnât expected anything from you, but you werenât sure if he meant he wasnât expecting the marriage to be consummated. Too terrified to ask, you remained silent while Eddie rambled on a mile a minute about something Ronnie or Barry said during the party.
âI would carry you in the old fashioned way over the threshold but,â Eddie clinked the buckles of his sling. âCanât.â
You smiled bashfully and got out of the van and followed him up the steps of the trailer. You had to think of a way to bring this up and fast before it was too late.
âEddie,â you breathed and you put Wayneâs leftovers in the fridge.
âThat is my name, yes,â he replied smugly.
You still couldnât find the words to string together and say aloud. You kept staring at the handle of the closed fridge, brain working tirelessly to figure out what you were going to say.
âNo,â he said suddenly.
Your neck snapped toward him. âânoâ what?â
He smiled sadly and shook his head. âNo. But you know what I will say yes to? Watching one of the best movies of all time: Captain Blood.â
A breath of relief escaped you. It wasnât that you didnât want to jump his bones because that had been a desire unbeknownst to him for years, you just didnât want to accidentally have his shoulder dislocate or further fracture one of his ribs.
âYou would be an Errol Flynn fan,â you smiled.
Eddie popped in the tape and you sat next to him, thighs touching and watched the swashbuckling pirate fight his way across the screen. You had hoped that maybe with his good arm Eddie would wrap it around your shoulder but he didnât budge.
After about half an hour, Eddie spoke. âCan I ask you something?â
âAlways,â you replied nervously, eyes fixed on the screen.
âAre you a virgin? I mean, I never saw you with anyone at school.â
âYeah I was kind of pining after some long haired dumbass,â you laughed. You knew this conversation would come up and while it wasnât a big deal to admit, it was still a little shameful to remember.
âIâve had sex once, just to get it out of the way. Some guy Emily set me up with. It sucked and I regret it. But I just tell myself it doesnât count.â You quickly changed the subject to him. âDonât need to ask about you, captain obvious.â
Eddie laughed loudly and threw his head back against the couch. âIs it that apparent that Iâm as pure as the wind driven snow?â
You turned to face him, mouth agape. âYou are not.â
Blushing, Eddie nodded. âI am. though Iâm very flattered you seek to think otherwise.â
Still not believing him, you turned to your side so you could face him fully. âEddie, youâre full of shit! You play in a band. At a bar. Youâre telling me none of those women, or even girls in school havenât had their way with you?â
Eddie giggled, something you never thought youâd see in all your years. Big and scary Eddie Munson giggling and blushing like a girl. âNo, not even one.â
You eye him up and down, waiting for him to say âgot you!â But he just shrugged, eyebrows hiking higher up his forehead as you continued to look him over. You wanted to tell him that if he hadnât been such a butthole in high school he would have already been ruined by you but that sounded extremely forward and would be awkward if he wasnât receptive to the idea.
âWeâll revisit this conversation when your arm heals,â you blurted, quickly realizing how provocative that sounded. You quickly tacked on, âif you want to.â
Eddie smiled his famous smile that showed his dimples. âOkay.â
Face as hot as a furnace, you turned your attention back to the black and white movie before you. After a while, from the corner of your eye you could see Eddieâs hand hovering closer to your thigh and then back away again. By the third time you saw it, you grabbed it and placed it on your thigh and snuggled into his side, fitting like a missing piece of a puzzle. ââââââââââââââââââââ
I truly hate the word "unalive." There are so many other euphemisms that fictional Italian mobsters worked so hard to provide you with and you just ignore them.
