thank you for the tag @herearedragons for the patron saint quiz, this was really fun!
Seyla: patron saint of martyrs
the patron saint of those who died to be like you. maybe you died to be like them too: but at the end of it, you weren't like them. patron saint of tragedy. saint of saints. it's you who holds the hands of the holy dead, and you who has to answer: what do they do if they regretted it?
Xanthi: patron saint of houses
but not of homes. only the shells of what keeps us enclosed. houses can be decorated or well-built or crumbling or haunted but only a home can truly be warm; you are the patron saint of that lack.
Revani: patron saint of silence
you are the patron saint of empty spaces, cavernous rooms, moments that last for days. for some people, the emptiness is horrible, something that they need to fill: you, its patron, try to search within it for peace. there is nothing there. there is never anything there. even the emptiness is not a presence of its own. the only thing there is you.
Jo'Taahni keeps thorough notes of her exploration in Oblivion. She also publishes (through the Black Horse Courier) a brief guide for closing the Oblivion Gates. Eventually he will collect all his notes and observations and publish a book about the Deadlands.
The bhc missives (published and circulated during the Oblivion Crisis) are probably the in-universe reason for the Gates becoming increasingly more dangerous and well-guarded.
what if all the Azor Ahai Prince that was Promised stuff works like the prophecies in Dune. like there isn't one Chosen One but the prophecy creates the conditions for people who fit the criteria to be elevated as Chosen Ones by the Red Priests in order to fight the Others. so they are all in a way the Prince that was Promised. sort of like OK we need to fight this thing so let's make sure our success doesn't hinge all on one person but several kind of thing.
anyway back to Seyla banging pots and pans yelling "Eothas Lives" in the absolute worst place in the world she could be doing so
i need a tankier character in my party.
Eder talk to me i need you.
Signora Camilla Lucia Xanthippe de Darcozzi
Initiate Lucia of the Temple of Cirono
Novice Xanthippe of the Darcozzi Paladini
Xanthi, Watcher of Caed Nua
Discarded scion of the Darcozzi family. Inconvenient blessing. Firstborn but, as a godlike, incapable of producing heirs. She was dedicated to the temple of Cirono as a child, with the expectation to join the priesthood upon coming of age, thus removing herself as heir. She declined and joined the Darcozzi Paladini. Then the attempted assassinations started. Easily dismissed as accidents at first, they became increasingly more obvious. So she left, and found herself on a caravan headed to Guilded Vale.
The attacks on her life were most likely organized by her younger sibling who sees her as a threat to their position and inheritance. Her joining the DP was possibly influenced by a rival branch of the family who want her to remain as heir. They would benefit from the ensuing inheritance issues.
Rational, Stoic, Clever. Not a particularly great fit for the Darcozzi Paladini, but growing up in the temple of Cirono reinforced her naturally stoic disposition. The most emotion her fellow paladins could get out of her was snark.

I know I had more ghylandris thoughts. Like soft travel boards made of leather or fabric that can be rolled up. And definitely an explanation for the name. Ghylandris is both the collective name and a specific game in the sequence. Dalish have the original elven names and city elves have translations (eg. felassan vs slow arrow)
do i have to move back to the main blog now
It's easy to jump to the conclusion that the NCR and New Vegas got destroyed in the series purely out of spite, because Bethesda is coping and seething that people like FNV more than any of their Fallouts. I'm also leaning towards that interpretation myself, although I'm not ready to attribute that specific intention to Bethesda just yet.
A much more charitable, but also more likely interpretation is this: Bethesda has a very superficial understanding of Fallout, and they're incapable of going in any new and interesting direction with it. And that's why they destroyed the NCR and New Vegas, because they represented humanity rebuilding and looking towards the future (albeit still with heavy doses of old world nostalgia, but FNV has already said plenty on the topic). Their continued existence in canon forces Bethesda to think about the future of the setting, when all they want to do is sit in their postapocalyptic sandbox that hasn't been cleaned up in 200 years and wank about the BOS, Vault-Tec, and 1950s American aesthetics. So they had to go.
Well, whichever one it is, it's clear that Bethesda has absolutely zero respect for the work of Obsidian/Black Isle. Or the Fallout setting in general, for that matter.
heads up: this games charity bundle was finally approved on itch.io! it opens this friday, april 12th, and will run for a week. all proceeds will go to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.

A video-essay and analysis on my deep-rooted hatred on the idea of fate. I think the game Kingdoms of Amalur, and the character within it, the Maid of Windemere, gets across my distaste for it perfectly and the Fae society within the setting, where fate is an actual tangible real measurable thing as natural as the wind... until it isn't.
✨When you are a giga-strong mountain of stone muscles crushing the heads of weak people, and your wife a diplomatic, intelligent mage who needs to be protected✨

Alistair was really not happy that Rowan freed Jowan after he admitted to poisoning Arl Eamon, the man who had adopted Alistair and took him in.
However, Rowan had to stand there rubbing her temples, as she tiredly explained Jowan and his negative luck in life.
Some people became fabulously wealthy winning games of chance, Jowan would be the one to not only lose all his money and clothes, but would accidentally trip on his robe, fall on the table, upending said table to flip a random dagger in the air and somehow, against ALL PROBABILITY, kill some random noble or some shit with that dagger, and then STAND THERE LOOKING STUPID while saying, “I know what it looks like, but I didn’t do it.” and then all pandemonium breaks loose.
Jowan nods helpfully in agreement with no pride or shame since he knows this is true.
Alistair would scoff, but Rowan then tiredly explains some of the more eventful escapades Jowan has been through.
Alistair goes through the five stages of grief just listening to them.
