Little rant here but WHY are there so many Post-Season 2 Inhun fics (that aren't trying to be humorous) where Gi-hun is kinda mad at Inho for a while, they maybe even fight once, but then they make out, have sex and everything The Freaking Front Man did is seemingly forgotten???
Even if we completely ignore Inho's involvement in the games and the pain he has inflicted on so many people (including Gi-hun himself), are we really going to pretend he didn't kill Gi-hun's best friend IN FRONT OF HIM?? LIKE??? Why are we acting like Jung-bae's whole character and death is no more than a stepping stone, a bump in the road for some drama to stir up between the two lovebirds, that ultimately doesn't matter because they can just kiss away all their problems?
I feel like people often forget how deeply Gi-hun cares for his friends and especially for Jung-bae. Even after years of not being in contact with one another, he kept considering themselves best friends. Gi-hun practically begged/threatened him to not separate from his side upon seeing him in the games. He LOVED that man and became an absolute trainwreck after his death (and the failure of his plan).
I have seen so often how in fandoms platonic relationships are nothing more than a second thought, something that is ultimately cast aside in order to favor some romance, that is honestly exhausting. Why do we have to act all the time like romantic and sexual relationships are somehow the ultimate form of love?
No guys, Gi-hun wouldn't choose a man he has met for a few days and betrayed him over his literal best friend who he has known for years. Even if he was in love with Young-il and/or just cared deeply about him.
It's totally okay to like Inhun (I myself love those two together) but you can like a ship without pretending characters can't also have other meaningful platonic relationships that are just as important. ESPECIALLY if said platonic bonds have existed for longer and are far healthier than the romantic/sexual ones.
It's just a harmful thing to do that reduces characters to their love life and makes others (like Jung-bae) appear as nothing more than a third wheel, when in reality they're far more complex than people give them credit for.
Anyways, I just wrote all of this to say justice for the Gi-hun & Jung-bae friendship!!! Those two deserve SO much better!!!!
