Dignity is distraction-free.
Two months later, episode 2 is here: comparing the themes of two books but focusing on the one and only Octavia Butler with her work, Fledgl
The stagnant disconnect between feeling like the most worthless being and knowing that you’re not. How to operate through that… having the pressing space urge you to (what? bite back, fall, rise above it all?) and feeling no energy within you to do any.
I’m afraid nothing quite fits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid I called it quits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid my heart’s in the pits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid it’s broken to bits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid I’m prone to fits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid I glorified misfits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid of a battle from hits, I’m sorry
I’m afraid I bought false wits, I’m sorry

i love studying. i love writing. i love reading. i love learning languages. i love doing mathematics. i love wandering over some particular sum and trying to come up with formulas to solve it. i love physics. i love biology. i love chemistry. i love history. i love literature. i love learning.
not to achieve the perfect grades ever. but it just amazes me that there's so much to know and learn and write and read about in the universe. my curiosity wouldn't get enough of it.
Nicole W. Lee, from "Even the Dust"
A love worthwhile:
I’ve seen you when you’re hurt.
I sometimes make you smile.
You may not be a girl,
But you act like a child.

the sacred balance of confidence versus critique
One day I will grow gracefully, probably when I’m sixty, and it won’t even hurt. Just a prick like a needle. Maybe less significant than that.
Life Lessons (simplistic)
*don’t take from children
*don’t laugh at yourself, only with
*don’t size up people
*if the task is too easy, choose difficult
*celebrate growing pains
*if you want something — don’t hover the person with it: seek it on your own
*when you’re comfortable, be careful
*welcomes look different
do you care to make someone proud?

Strategic or senseless?
Do you remember yearning? Now you swallow everything so you can’t feel. You wanted a channel for your anger because you think it’s worse shown than fear. And deep sadness. Where do the negative emotions go? Don’t they belong? Overcome, they have been. They haven’t seen: share. Negotiate. Reason making space. So empty, in the void they float or — balance pain and pleasure. Risk and reward. Like lily pad, like branch.
