maybe forgiveness is easy to give and unimportant to get. maybe forgiveness is ordinary, and common, and free. maybe all forgiveness means is that you understand that something was either a mistake or a regretted choice, or, if nothing else, understandable and possible to move beyond.

maybe forgiving someone just means you're willing to offer them your trust, within reason; that even if their progress is incremental, you have patience and understanding to give while they keep working at it.

and maybe it just means you're not holding onto any resentment, and that's all. even if you can't trust them anymore.

maybe you don't need forgiveness from anyone else. maybe you can forgive yourself, over and over, for every little thing; because you understand why you did it, and you know you're trying, and you can trust yourself to keep trying even if your progress is incremental right now. maybe you can give yourself patience and understanding while you keep working at it. maybe, if nothing else, you can bear no resentment towards yourself; even if anything more than that is too hard right now.

idk. maybe we don't need to see forgiveness as something big and difficult and mystical, something sacred, something you need to beg or suffer for.

maybe it's just a normal part of moving on.
