I really stop sympathizing with the mods of BJD Addicts when there are so many off topic posts and OBVIOUS recasts all over the feed.

Genuinely curious, how can you tell when a doll is a recast by a simple photo?

I went to an anime con recently that has a BJD section with lots of people selling clothes to they had made. At one of the tables was a woman with what I assume was her very young daughter, who was completely ādolled upā and dressed in petticoats and lace and makeup, she looks like an actual doll. She was just sitting kind of in e background looking really bored. It made me wonder if her mother just saw her as a living doll and it honestly made me uncomfortable.

Sometimes young children get bored. It's not going to hurt them to have a little downtime. She doesn't sound like she was dressed in an inappropriate manner either. It's very presumptuous of you to assume something like this about a complete stranger and honestly, quite rude.
I hate this new trend of motion portraits. Iām not afraid of dolls, but seeing them move and blink like that is really creepy.
~Anonymous
Itās not even a trend. Someone JUST discovered it yesterday and of course people are excited.Ā
I feel sorry for the bjd communities in America. They are flooded with ugly dolls and bad taste because they wonāt put social pressure on their ranks and shame owners of badly styled dolls. All dolls in Russian communities are always beautiful because owners with ugly dolls that do not improve are shunned. The only way to have a beautifull flower garden is to weed it but Americans refuse to do it in the name of thier ugly āfunā. Wake up and improve yourselves and stop coddling failures.
~Anonymous
Stop coddling...people doing what they want in their free time that has absolutely NO basis on anyone else? Thatās just...what? Maybe weāre flooded withĀ āugly dollsā, but at least weāre not flooded with jerks with superiority complexes.
āIt really bothers me how people flat out sexualize and fetishize the Hamada Brothers solely because theyāre Asian. It really upsets me that one of the few positive Asian charecters we have are now being reduced to smut fodder. Itās disgusting and disturbing.ā
But arenāt Anna and Elsa paired together just as much as these two are? And they arenāt Asian. I think thereās just a lack of siblings as main characters in Disney movies so itās obvious when this type of stuff happens to them. I donāt think it has anything to do with them being Asian when again, Elsa and Anna receive the same treatment.

I love Nemoās school friends. The second they meet him they are made aware of his little fin-hisĀ āflawā, and rather than tease or poke fun at him, they immediately try to find ways to relate to him and include him in their group.

On the edge of extinction, humanity turned to those willing and ready to defend it. Those who stepped up and worked in teams to protect all that they know and hold dear. Inside the base (commonly referred to as āThe Magic Kingdomā) a living community thrives, Rangers, Engineers, Scientists, and civilians live out their lives not in fear, but defiance of the Kaiju threat. Each set of rangers has a different approach to battles. But one thing is true of all of them, they stand and fight for those they love.Ā

I think itās kind of weird when US buyers request only to buy within the US. Why? Whatās the point? These are ASIAN based dolls, why limit yourself to just a handful of US options? Usually prices are jacked way up on clothes & accessories and much cheaper from the source. If itās not in stock, youāll wait longer through a dealer. We donāt even have customs fees on doll stuff, so what reason is there to only buy in the US?

Some of us are also trying really hard to support theĀ ālocalā economy. While 90% of anything BJD-related is likely outsourced from somewhere else, it still helps to give my business to someone in the country when possible instead of skipping the middle man all the time. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with some weird American > Asian mindset some people might have inferred.
Sometimes I just want to find fashion blogs with women who look like me. But when youāre middle of the road it feels like no one cares because your body is too āaverageā to be important.
