cripplepunk but instead of punk im just edgy
shoutout to the cripple punks who want to dress punk and can’t
to those whose hands shake too much to paint their nails black
to those who can’t wear punk/edgy clothes because of the texture or other sensory reasons
to those who can’t wear punk/edgy clothes because of medical equipment or mobility aids
to those who can’t wear combat boots because they need shoes with better support
to those who have allergies or sensory needs or weakened immune systems or any other reason that prevents them from getting tattoos or piercings
to those who can’t afford to buy the clothes they want to wear
remember that cripple punk has no dress code and you don’t have to fit a certain aesthetic to be badass
I found a review yesterday of my wheelchair Poison Ivy cosplay from a comic convention in November. do you know what it said?
“Props to this girl for not letting her wheelchair stop her from cosplaying!”
What do you mean, “not letting it stop me”? It’s not an obstacle to be overcome, asshole, its my LIFE.
I don’t need your pity. And I’m not your Inspiration Porn. fuck that noise

This shoot is super important to me. Of course, as an homage to Dita Von Teese’s “Lazy”, but also as my own little “fuck you” to ableism.
We’ve all heard myth that disabled people leach off of society. Blatant lie. Most disabled people I know contribute loads to the world, through activism, work, art, community support, compassion, storytelling, innovation, sharing wisdom, etc. and hey, even if we didn’t, we’d still deserve basic respect and access. Everyone does!Â
Nevertheless, this myth means most (if not all) disabled people have times where we’re criticized as selfish for wanting basic decency: respect, access, privacy, autonomy, etc. Forget about real indulgence.Â
I really, truly do believe we all (disabled or otherwise) deserve & NEED a bit of indulgent pleasure in our lives. Unfortunately, whenever we do allow ourselves a bit of well earned hedonism, people use it as proof for their political agenda, or some sort of moral failing.Â
So here, for the politicians, media personalities, and random people on the street who believe disabled people are selfish, spoiled leaches on society. Check out me being more indulgent than you could ever imagine & looking damn good doing it.

if you don’t know what your illness is yet…
that doesn’t mean you’re not sick
you will find answers
i believe that you’re sick
you will get through this tough time
you don’t owe anyone an explanation
you will get the necessary accommodations
those who truly care about you will help you
i love you
I believe in you
im here for you
Accepting your limitations when you have a chronic illness or disability doesn’t mean you’re lazy or pessimistic. It’s more than ok to acknowledge and respect the fact that there are things you just can’t do. Don’t listen to anyone who tries to put you down or make you feel guilty for saying “no” when you aren’t able to do something.Â
Very tired of our lives being seen as not worth living.
[Image Description: A two-part illustration in monochrome dark blue. The illustration features five disabled people: A cane user, a manual wheelchair user, a person with an invisible disability, a person with a prosthetic leg, and a power chair user. The first illustration focuses on their feet, captioned “We are NOT disposable.” The second illustration features their smiling faces, captioned “We are not a fate worse than death.”]
Lydia is amazing.

A conversation a few days ago asked the question of how a Carnotaurus would applaud. This is my theory.

Abled people: *take away our healthcare so we can’t access treatment to possibly improve our conditions*
Abled people: *take away our benefits and force us into work we aren’t capable of and force us into poverty*
Abled people: *make buildings inaccessible*
Abled people: *take away our disabled parking spots and make it very difficult to get a blue badge/placard*
Abled people: *often don’t provide us with a disabled/accessible toilet*
Abled people: *police our disabilities and call us fakes for not fitting their ableist view of a disabled person*
Abled people: *refuse to hire us or refuse to accommodate our disabilities in the workplace*
Abled people: "Why don’t disabled people do more to contribute to society?"
to anyone who thinks those of us with invisible disabilities have “passing privilege”:
being denied access to resources you need is not a privilege.
being refused disability benefits at first glance because you look “healthy” is not a privilege.
getting dirty looks and having insults thrown at you for parking in a disabled space, using a disabled toilet or sitting in disabled seating is not a privilege.
getting accused of faking or exaggerating because “you look fine” is not a privilege.
being made to feel like you shouldn’t sometimes use mobility aids/wheelchairs because you “seem fine without them” is not a privilege.
having doctors not believe you’re sick and even refuse to give you any tests or diagnosis is not a privilege.
being denied treatment and medication because doctors don’t believe you really need it is not a privilege.
constantly being told that “you don't look sick” when you tell someone about your disability is not a privilege.Â
being forced to do things that you really struggle to do because “you seem fine” and “you CAN technically do them” is not a privilege.
constantly worrying about how you look and if you should wear certain clothes, make up or do your hair because you’re afraid it might give people another reason to deny your conditions is not a privilege.
being afraid to even tell people about your conditions because you’re worried about how they’ll react and if they’ll believe you is not a privilege.
having your own loved ones question you is not a privilege.
questioning yourself and wondering if it is all in your head is not a privilege.
looking healthy does not mean you get the privilege that comes with a healthy body and mind. having an invisible disability is NOT a privilege and never will be.
