Tobias Jesso Jr - True Love
Old school, proper songwriting.
Banger.
Holy Shit this is so good. Even better when you find out they are 13 and 14 years old.
‘Sonnet’ by Slime ft George Maple is my new jam.
Great simplistic groove from Tennis, these guys rule at being able to create perfectly crafted pop songs. The’ve just released a video for their track Cured of Youth and it gives us another excuse to keep talking about them! We’re going to see them for the first time at Oslo in Hackney and can’t wait. We’re then going to see them again at The Great Escape in Brighton as that is the perfect setting for their bright summer pop masterpieces. Check them out and come join us in the crowds: http://www.tennis-music.com/ (awesome website) https://www.facebook.com/tennisinc?fref=ts
Etches - David
The ever intriguing Etches have just unveiled their latest track, David. It goes to show that this band just keep getting stronger and stronger. I was hooked in by Let's Move In and then confidently reassure by The Charm Offensive that this band were going to keep producing quality songs. David has just cemented that for me, driven by the drum beat and grooving sparse bass line this song is a perfect combination of both real instruments and electronic soundscapes. That and a brilliant vocal hook for the chorus goes a long way. This song is on repeat, go and check them out: https://www.facebook.com/etchesmusic https://twitter.com/EtchesMusic
Matt Newman - One More, One Time ft. Mirror Signal
Elongated synth, minimalist beats, enigmatic vocal. Matt Newman's chilled out vibe is perfectly complimented by Mirror Signal's soulful delivery. The song ebbs and flows, gently guiding us down a river of RnB beats and powerful harmonies. Great tune to have playing whist lying about in the sun.
Huntar - Expectations
Huntar is anonymous. This sound is stand out.
Holy Milk - Born and Die. Directed by Nathan Coetzee. Holy Milk's dark brooding Born and Die track has been matched with an equally intriguing video. The haunting vocal by Lucinda John-Duarte compliments the sense of loss portrayed in the video, their ambience is created through low level synth with a fantastic groove-filled bassline, for a mere 20 seconds the track breaks out into full ethereal glory until it brings you back to reality by cutting it off in it's prime and followed up with the repetition of "You are born and then you die." A thought provoking tune by and exciting new band. More places to find them: https://soundcloud.com/holyholymilk https://www.facebook.com/holyholymilk/ https://www.twitter.com/holyholymilk

Layla - Smokestacks
She's everywhere I turn right now and I don't mind in the slightest. This is a stellar new track with a more mature sound, I came across her through her Yellow Circles video with director Daniel Broadley and have been hooked ever since, credible pop songwriting with huge amounts of potential. She's just finished a stint supporting Bipolar Sunshine on his tour and her first headline show is promoted by Communion Records on Tuesday 29th April at The Social in London, get your tickets here: http://www.communionmusic.co.uk/live/events/29-apr-14-layla-the-social/ Check out more of Layla's stuff here: https://www.facebook.com/listentolayla https://soundcloud.com/listentolayla https://www.twitter.com/listentolayla
