absolutely hate it when the pleasurable activity procrastination hits. i’m going to do something fun that brings me joy but not yet. yeah, not yet. not yet. maybe i shouldn’t do it at all, it’s not that fun
I rewatched some sram clips and it still bugs me that the majority of this fandom treats Ana like she’s the perfect mum. Maybe I‘m just biased but she definitely has her faults (everyone does) especially with her toxic positivity and overstepping boundaries
Yes, there is a place where someone loves you both
before and after they learn what you are.
- Neil Hilborn's The Future
one of the best choices from the first half of this season is how the camera lingers on borna/lovro, allowing us to see the expression he forces for his friends or family fade into melancholy.
its always a wide shot instead of a close up - the scene continues, but if you focus on him you can literally see him mentally retract from whatever is happening around him.
he's very clearly uncomfortable and ingenuine in many scenes, and this choice really drives the point that the people in his life aren't really seeing him.
it makes me love the later Sunday clip where Ivan asks Lovro if he's uncomfortable even more, because for once, he actually isn't - he's authentic and happy enough to let Ivan in.
people who don't experience hyperfixation don't know what it feels like to hyperfixate so much on something that it becomes not only your subject of obsession but also your source of happiness and literally the main reason why you still keep going; literal source of strength and life.
shoutout to my favorite fictional characters, favorite people, favorite ships, favorite movies, favorite tv shows, fanfics and archive of our own
them being so extremely akward here still kills me
Maybe the reason I like Lovro's season so much is because he is a character who doesn't think he'll ever experience something properly romantic, stuck with an unrequited crush on his best friend, but then finds himself a guy who looks at him like he's hung the moon in the sky himself. Who did everything in his power to have Lovro look his way for even just a second

and when sram was in the trenches that day and everyone swore it was the worst version I want it written in stone that I held out hope
the more I rewatch sram the more I love lovro. he went to the Matteo florenzi school of charisma, has everyone wrapped around his little finger and at the same time holds so much sadness and angst within himself. he cares so deeply and loves so gently and can be both bold and awkward at the same time. character of all time.
All I can think abt is that one quote that basically just describes that you can’t be your true self in your native language bc there’s too much emotional attachment, but that second languages allow speakers to be truly free with their words
“Some things could only be written in a foreign language; they are not lost in translation, but conceived by it. Foreign verbs of motion could be the only ways of transporting the ashes of familial memory. After all, a foreign language is like art—an alternative reality, a potential world. »
- Svetlana Boym, “Estrangement as a Lifestyle: Shklovsky and Brodsky”
“Bilinguals overwhelmingly report that they feel like different people in different languages. It is often assumed that the mother tongue is the language of the true self. (…) But, it first languages are reservoirs of emotion, second languages can be rivers undammed, freeing their speakers to ride different currents.”
- Love in Translation by Lauren Collins from the New Yorker, August 8 & 15, 2016
when ilya kaminski said in an interview “even the shape of my face changed when i began to live inside the english language”
If we put aside the idea of a “true self,” because that is a discussion in its own right, from my reading and research few exophonic writers ever speak about freedom of expression in such terms… what the other language provides is detachment. And by detaching oneself from their writing (from the emotional background of chosen words, their socio-historical significance, familial usage etc), what these writers report is another point of view, a newfound clarity. Which isn’t limited to learning/using another language, it can be achieved through any sort of displacement. But it is no wonder these often come together, the new language and displacement, in whichever order that may be. In many cases the othe
I have pages and pages of research on this but another thing to consider
“Which language we choose to convey our experience shows how we position ourselves and to whom we explain ourselves: Do we choose to enter a dialogue with our new culture or to the ones we left behind in our native country?”
from Julia Beltsiou’s Immigration in Psychoanalysis: Locating Ourselves
rewatching the clip where Lovro comes out to ana and there’s something so powerful about how lovro doesn’t wipe away his tears. he lets them fall and keeps talking to and looking at his mum anyways. he lets her see his emotions, how scared and relieved he was. he lets himself cry, despite the press of masculinity from his dad and filip and god knows who else in society.
so quietly strong
Took one ONE look at the comments on insta and immediately saw accusations of the pics being AI and others being whiney that they’re not making out, saying they’re giving friends vibes. I know we live in a shit world, but people being this miserable is just
