the brand Mudd is not as old as we make it out to be.
Mudd, otherwise known as Mudd Jeans, is a popular brand established in 1995 that produced a style of fashion that we now associate to the era of the 2000's. catered initially towards adults and young women, the brand was bought by Iconix International in 2006 and later expanded to younger audiences by introducing "Mudd Girls Move the World". after a long 27-year run, products were officially taken out of the retail market by 2022, last seen at U.S. retail store Kohl's, before being replaced by a similar brand "So".
despite it's unfortunate ending in the U.S. retail market, i want to bring some attention to the brand for it's vision and relevance in today's fashion.
as a young woman, i am constantly surrounded by digital media telling me what i should be buying and wearing, and then what i should be buying and wearing for the next week, and the week after that. i do have to admit that i can be quick to bandwagon on certain trends but to simplify one of the meanings and purposes of fashion, my ultimate goal is to wear what i want to wear in a means of self-expression.
i like to think that fashion is not only a form of self-expression but a way of communication. "i am someone who does not feel social anxiety and you can tell because i am wearing something that is totally out-of-date for today's fashion" or something of the sort. and as much as i could write about the general idea and meaning and philosophy of fashion, and excuse my sudden informality, i simply come here to talk about how cute Mudd shoes are.
i would say i am somewhat of an avid shoe lover and collector. all compliments i have ever received were about my shoes and in relation to the brand Mudd, one thing I do regret is never having bought a pair of Mudd heels.

the heels displayed are only one of many Mudd heels that I want to talk about. what i love about Mudd heels is that there are many variations that the brand has produced, and they are extremely versatile. Mudd heels can be just another part of your outfit or the statement piece. they're a casual, elevated heel that you can wear out to run errands, to work, or even out on a date night.
in my recent search for heels that look similar to these, i have found about three in my size that are in good, wearable condition on Depop. unfortunately, i don't have a solid opinion regarding the demand of Mudd heels but using the "recently sold" filter on eBay is extremely helpful to get an idea of the demand and the price range that people are buying them for.
across the multiple resale sites i've visited in my search for these heels, i've seen a range of $20 USD to $40 USD but because resellers are resellers, some can be up-priced to around $70 USD to $90 USD.
when shopping for vintage items, my personal advice to readers is to always look at the pictures to gauge the condition of the shoes. buying shoes second-hand is a hit-or-miss and i unfortunately learned that the hard way when i wore a pair of vintage fur boots out and had them break on me the same night. so when buying shoes online:
check the condition of the shoes via pictures
avoid mold and leather peeling
take your shoes to a shoe repair shop to ensure that they are in wearable condition
and don't get scammed !!!
as i said before, the brand Mudd is not as old or vintage as we think it is. U.S. retail stores only stopped selling Mudd branded products in 2022. despite that, i think it speaks for itself when i say that the style of Mudd heels are timeless.
though i have no formal or any experience writing articles or fashion articles, i hope this helps to whoever reads this. happy shopping <3
