@deadlincs asked: a kiss against tear stained cheek ( ehe ˙ᵕ˙ nyanya ) | ✧ 𓂅 another kiss prompt.
satoru thinks it's silly.
megumi, nobara, and yuji have just left their apartment after coming to visit for the week. everything had gone well ; lots of laughs were shared and memories were made. satoru had stayed strong for about two minutes after yuji had closed the door on their way out after saying goodbye.
they had all grown so much since he had met them and now they were young adults, finding their own paths in life. those were their kids and satoru didn't think he'd ever feel . . . whatever this was. grief? what exactly was he grieving? he was sad, sure. sad to see them go, to not know when he'd see them again, even if they kept in constant contact.
"what if they don't need us anymore?" he asks no one in particular. he isn't even really expecting an answer, hadn't meant to ask that out loud. now that there were no big battles to fight, that their lives were no longer on the line, would the kids ( yes, adults, but they would always be his kids ) need them?
there is shuffling from the kitchen and satoru doesn't need to look up to know that it's kento making his way towards him. hand rests on satoru's head before fingers card through fluffy white locks. a moment later, a kiss is pressed to his cheek.
"they might not need us as often," kento starts, moving his hand to start wiping at satoru's cheeks, "but they won't pull away. they call you almost every day. i don't see that changing any time soon."
"yeah?" satoru manages to ask, throat tightening as another wave of emotions comes over him. he leans over to press a kiss to kento's cheek before he rests his head against his shoulder. "i . . . is this what parents feel like when their kids leave for college and stuff? i don't like it. can't we ask them to come back and stay forever?"
