holy shit I don’t know how KidLaw fans survived the end of Wano Arc, I was not watching the anime or reading the at the time, but now im reading stuff on Twitter+ YouTube videos
and the amount of toxicity was fucking huge, I know power-scalers are shit and always missing the points of the story but damn.
BM fight was fucking enjoyable, I don’t know why they thought Law and Kidd aren’t worthy of defeating her ? Isn’t disarming your enemy and sending them to the literal hell is A Win?
Because this is the most sadistic onscreen death in all of One Piece
I mean, yes, Law has very good reason to want Vergo to suffer since he wants to get vengeance for Vergo hurting Corazon, so we root for Law when he does this to Vergo, but
Honestly? As much as I’m cheering him on, I’m still struck by the sheer sadism of it. We have never, and will never see again, such a sadistic onscreen death in the series. Even the most vile characters in the series, such as Crocodile and Doflamingo and Blackbeard, tended to deliver what they believed would be rather speedy deaths. When dealing with Luffy, Crocodile completely dehydrated his body and buried him deep under tons of sand, justifiably believing that enough to have caused an instant death. Even in the depths of murderous rage, Doflamingo still only shot Law full of bullets, which he understandably believed would cause a swift death. And even Blackbeard killed Thatch by stabbing him in the back, an instant death, and even though he and his posse blasted Whitebeard to Swiss cheese, that was literally the minimum amount of violence that was required to swiftly kill Whitebeard. Law, though?
Law had already defeated Vergo. By that point, he could’ve just killed him and been done with it. Instead, he chops him up into pieces, attaches the separated pieces of him to a railing for the purposes of display, and then leaves him to die in the oncoming explosion, all for the sake of hurting, humiliating, and psychologically torturing him. Gosh darn. And honestly, considering the potential of his powers, and considering just how viciously Law loathed Vergo, I’m 1000000% sure that if Oda were more inclined to show violence and body horror, the stuff Law would’ve done to Vergo would be downright horrific to behold. But even as it is, it’s still by far the most needlessly sadistic and cruel death that any One Piece character inflicted on another onscreen
The only one that I can think of that rivals this is the Oden boiling scene, but at least through that, Kaido showed respect to Oden. Law showed nothing but disrespect, disdain, and hatred
Law has an enormous capacity for cruelty, and even though the series is mainly focusing on him as a tsundere ally, I always love the little reminders that Law is known for being infamously cruel for a reason
The real princess in Dressrosa arc, honorary princess of Straw Hat Pirates, emo princess in Worst Generation, Boss’ princess in Straw Hat Grand Fleet, co-founder princess in Ninja Pirate Mink Samurai Alliance. What else?
So we know about Law’s…thing, where he pulls his hat down to cover his face. He has lots of reasons to be uncomfortable showing emotion too visibly, too audibly - and I think I found another one to be sad about
Do you ever think like…what if, even as an adult, he’s uncomfortable with crying because the sound of it is a trigger for him - like the actual noise, in his voice, brings back the memory of…y’know, the time when the breaking silence and being able to hear himself cry meant that Cora was dead
What Teach did to Law must be something on a different level to have him this speechless
Because no one could make this brat shut the hell up
Not Caesar
Not Vergo
Not Hawkins
Not Big mom ( in a way)
NOT EVEN DOFFY
and oh he tried, he really tried but this mouthy brat always had something to say even when facing death, doffy even used his ''fuck you'' gun twice on him but couldn't fuck the brattiness out of his system like Teach did.
Let us break down Law's name again. I found on Twitter, a translated tweet from a Japanese fan explaining that Law's taboo name isn't actually 'Water' but 'War Tale'.
The word used is ワーテル which is pronounced as "wāteru" and has no direct translation in English or any Language, unlike "水" (mizu) in Japanese. they point out that the same 'word manipulation' that happened to 'Laugh Tale' is applied here.
'war tale' according to Law is a taboo name, and his family for generations has...?
Let's take a minute and look at the Nefertiti family, for example, their duty was to protect the Ponegliffs all these years, also, The Kozuki Family's duty was to write the History on those Ponegliffs. ( there's actually a theory of them having a secret D as well)
Then, what is Law's Family rule? I am guessing something relating to inheriting or maintaining the records of the war that happened in the void century -The Story of War/ War tale- or some sacred wisdom or piece of Information. maybe Law had heard of the name Imu from his parents just like Copra did and that is why they keep their names secret - from Imu, which shockingly, knew Liliy for 800 years, and just now did Imu realize she is a D. So it runs in families?
Let me go back to why I think Law is related to the moon god despite the popular belief that Blackbeard is, in fact, the moon god.
here is Oda's statement for their flower:
Luffy=Sunflower
Law=Queen of the Night
So, these D boys are:
Luffy is the sun, Law is the moon, and Blackbeard is the eclipse and not the moon.
(Credit: @moustawott, on Tumbler)
Let's ponder Egyptian mythology for a sec, The god of the moon, Thoth, he is known for several things that sort of matches Law's actions and Characteristics:
( please notice the blue feather im dying)
Thoth helped the sun god ''Ra'' by providing him with magical spells to overcome obstacles during his nightly journey through the underworld( Luffy+ Law = Marineford).
2. He was depicted holding a writing palette and a reed pen, symbolizing his role as the divine record-keeper and lawgiver(war tale- Law's Family duty).
3. Thoth was also associated with medicine and healing. He was believed to possess knowledge of magical spells and remedies that could cure ailments and protect against diseases ( basically Law).
4. He was responsible for recording the verdict of the heart-weighing ceremony that determined if the person was able to continue on to the Afterlife (final operation theme).
5. in the eye of Hours, the sun is a symbol of good luck& the moon is a symbol of healing powers.
The moon is not the enemy of the sun, they co-exist, the moon is an ally that comes before the dawn. As Law broke the gear of the world in Punk Hazard, and announced the beginning of the new Area, a.k.a beginning of the Dawn.
Maybe Law isn't the moon god himself but he acts like a moon knight at least, since Luffy got to the new world, Law was at his side, as his guide from the darkness to the new dawn ( a bit romantic lol? not my intention really) and what drove Law to save Luffy at the Marineford was his instinct to protect the sun.
Another point is, Law's chest and back tattoos are clearly devoted to Cora, but his arms and hands show a wheel and sun-shaped circles, plus, his jolly roger, which I know is a rip off of doffy to piss him off BUT
when putting those next to each other, makes you wonder, right?
what made me come up with those biased, wild, and crazy ideas is this:
this cross is within a circle, the Solar Symbol cross. ( pointed out by @DawnDuskJapan on youtube, check it out)
the cross representing the rays of the sun and the circle representing the sun itself. It symbolizes life, vitality, and the power of the sun.
The ancient Shandians worshiped a Sun God, and The giants of Elbaf worship a Sun God as well, so maybe, The white city also worshiped the sun god? which Law subconsciously, added those features to his jolly Roger and tattoos.
Let's not forget, Both Law's and Luffy's devil fruits were what the WG wanted THE most.
in the end, I am ok with anyone calling me a nuthead.
so, I haven't been excited about OP since dressrosa, but this one specific theory caught my attention from someone on Reddit, and I'll add some points to it
there are two points i wanna cover:
A) Imu's identity
B) Imu's goal
I think anyone would agree that Oda has a penchant for designing characters with exaggerated proportions, especially when it comes to male characters. However, he tends to depict women and children with more realistic and proportionate designs.
So, I'd like to draw attention to Imu's size by comparing it with the items around him.
Next to this sword for example, almost aligned with the beginning of his head
and here, on the throne and next to this stand
My viewpoint is that Amu-Sama is not really a child but has been trapped in a child's body ever since he gained immortality 800 years ago. This is because in order to control the national treasures, most likely weapons, one must possess immortality.
Furthermore, there are hints of Imu's relationship with Queen Lili in Chapter 1084. This brings me to my next point,
There is a movie called Mummy (1932), it is about an ancient Egyptian priest ''Imhotep'' which I believe Oda was inspired by, Imhotep is resurrected after being buried alive for centuries as punishment, then he meets a woman named Helen that looks like his deceased lover '' Princess Anck-su-Namun'', he believes that his lover has been reincarnated in the form of Helen. so, he uses his mystical powers to manipulate and control those around him, with the ultimate goal of resurrecting Anck-su-Namun and continuing their forbidden love.
(here in the movie, Imhotep is holding a Lily flower for the ritual)
so,
imu =Imhotep
Lili=Princess Anck-su-Namun
Vivi = Helen
I believe Imu loved Lili, but somehow, Lili betrayed Imu or sacrificed herself for the D clan?
his first utterance was her name + the champer of flowers is full of lilies.
But in the world of One Piece, resurrection has not been explicitly depicted or explored? - besides the Yomi Yomi fruit which Brook already ate.
oh yeah, this line here
I've always found this line "Bring Cora-san to life" odd, in timing and the fact that is OP character is saying this. If immortality is possible in the series, why not resurrection?
And regarding the connection between Imu and Luffy and how it will happen- if needed to be - I think it will happen through Vivi's death.
and since there is a rumor about Oda stating a major Character death, I only see Vivi as fit for the plot.
So I got tons of assignments and revision to do , but you know inspiration doesn't find you when got a free time. However, I tried my best to be realistic and not to make them the complete opposite but rather different :D
1- Law had a vaping phase as a teen /Kidd had a YouTuber phase.
2- Law got the driest hands (due to scrubbing and being a doctor and all) so Kidd bought him tons of Vaseline, Shea butter, and Nivea.
3- Kidd likes to keep his nails very neat and painted / Law is a nail biter.
4- Law is a picky eater, fries, white rice, just plain food really( but makes an exception for Sushi) and since in canon Law hates bread, might as well he has a Gluten allergy / Kidd is foody, big sandwiche lover, a bit of a gym rat (not the oatmeal kind), always lecturing Law about protein, he once made an eating plan for Law but that ended horribly. He meant well.
5- Kidd got a ''No eating in the car rule'' but only Law is exception.
6- If we're talking parents, Kidd’s mom HATES law, Cora will like Kidd eventually, but they don't have much in common -other than Law- so their meetings are always awkward.
7- They're both horrible when dealing with customers /patients, Kidd gets mad quickly and Law is brutally honest.
8-In my head, Law is bilingual and has a bit of accent, but he's good at hiding it especially at work , Kidd adores it tho. Sometimes, when they're arguing Law pretends not to understand whatever Kidd is saying to rail him up. ( someday I will write a fic about this)
9- Law is a terrible kisser and they both know it, Kidd gives him tutorials.
10- Law deep down , secretly is a pillow princess.
11- Kidd got two Golden Retriever dogs, which Law really like to nap and cuddle with. Kidd got a hidden folder in his phone under the name'' my three princesses''.* I know shit about dogs hope this is realistic.
