I feel bad for spending time with the two mom's rather than Ruby. Tbh.
“That’s the sister I know!” Yang smirked as she bashed her fists with Ruby’s before rubbing her hair and pulling her in for a hug, tingling slightly at the cold metal touching her hot skin, guess that was never gonna be something she got used to
“Yang, Yang... please.” Ruby muttered in turn. “I love you too, I swear.”
“Well I mean…When you first lost your arm you said that you didn’t want to be a Huntress anymore. I was kinda thinking you’d still be under that impression.” Yang then chuckled before wincing as she moved a little too quick, the scars across her chest and shoulder becoming slightly visible, “Guh…Sorry, haven’t gotten used to my own injuries yet”
“To be honest, after seeing you get hurt. I realized, I was being selfish.” Ruby muttered, her tone dropping suddenly. “Being a Huntress isn’t about what I want, but what the people want.
I can’t... protect those people if I’m at home building Aunt Raven’s model kits.”
“Eh I guess you’re right on that.” Yang stated with a grin before eventually thinking about asking the question to Ruby, “Sis…I know before you stated you didn’t want to continue being a Huntress but…I want to know if you still think that’s gonna be the case”
“Of course I am!” she smiled brightly as she attached the arm back into place, testing each finger slowly before balling it into a fist, the knuckles flaring up with it’s taser form. “I’ve always wanted to be a Huntress! Why would I stop?”
She hummed in response, sheathing her weapon again as she stood beside the huntress. It was pretty amazing that she had managed to skip her schooling. It made Blake wonder what a skilled huntress wanted with a thrown out faunus like her.
“ I see. So if you’re so skilled, why do you want me ? ”
“Because why not?”
It was a simple answer, and one Ruby was okay with without much of a thought. The smile was never leaving her lips.
“You have potential Blake. If the schools won’t accept you, then I will. We can make a great team in the future, if you want.”
“I don’t know much about her past.” She admitted, it wasn’t something Raven liked talking about. “Just be careful, if she does tell you, you might not like what you hear Little Rose.”
“She’s a hard woman, but a good woman.”
“Sometimes the truth hurts, I know.” Ruby sighed in defeat. “I’ve read enough stories to know that lying doesn’t always protect someone.”
She scratches the back of her head
“Aunt Raven has her reasons, and I’ll respect them.”
“Oh! You…You got Qrow to upgrade your arm for you? Or is this just a new model that was provided?” Yang asked as she looked over the decals that were present. It was clear that something had changed since that day, Yang did feel a little bit better but she still had the idea that Ruby didn’t want to be a huntress anymore
“Qrow? Touch this?” She sounded horrified at even the mere thought about it. “Are you insane Yang? He might be good but his fine motor skills just aren’t what they used to be!” She hugged the arm in close. “I asked Winter for some help, to be honest.”
Can you hear me? Can you hear me running? Can you hear me calling you? Independent Summer Rose from RWBY Written by Praemonitorius

(innocentxred) 18. My muse clutches their hand tightly around your muse’s mouth to silence them.
It pained Summer to think of her daughter crying. She clamped her hamd over her daughter’s lips and put an arm around her waist.
“I am so sorry. Please, don’t cry Ruby.”
“...Listen to me Ruby, I can explain… I can explain everything.”
But seeing her daughter overwhelmed her and she couldn’t just yet. Especially upon realizing how much time had passed, The eye patch, The mechanical arm. The change.
“I can…”
Summer took her hand off of Ruby’s mouth and embraced her daughter as tight as she could.
“I’m so sorry. I’m sorry— I’ll never leave you again.”
Her hands moved to hug her mother back, inhaling the scent that was long forgotten to her. How long? Too long, too too long. Even when Aunt Raven returned to the family she didn’t try to replace Summer, because she knew there was no point. Summer was Summer, there was no replacing her.
“Don’t... don’t make a promise you can’t keep.” Ruby sniffed as her hands gripped tightly onto Summer’s clothing. “No... no one... can stay forever...”
She hiccuped slightly.
“Come home, please.”
“They wont. From what I’ve learned, scales don’t regrow over scarred tissue. So best to keep it covered up for now, at least until you feel as if you don’t need to.”
Yang then looked at her and then sighed, at this point she still had it in her mind that she wasn’t really going to be a huntress anymore. I mean of course she had been blacked out for a number of weeks thanks to that little attack that happened a few months back
“Oh! I should show you something! Ruby smiled as she picked her arm that was lying on the couch back up. There Yang could see that it was a different model that the one Ruby initially had. She could also see that time was taken to it to handpaint different ‘decals’ on it. Probably to serve as tattoos.
One that stood out however was the one on the forearm.
“WARNING: THIS ARM KILLS GRIMM.”
I have no muse for anything

It pained Summer to think of her daughter crying. She clamped her hamd over her daughter’s lips and put an arm around her waist.
“I am so sorry. Please, don’t cry Ruby.”
How was she supposed to react? She thought her mom had been dead for years. Tears were streaming down her face, she could feel the dampness of her eyepatch against her skin as she bit her lip to hold back a sob. Mechanical hand reaching up to gently wrap around the hand that was against her lips.
“Why?”
was all she managed to croak out.
With time, she would certainly open up to more, but for now, this was the best way to go. Start out small and work her way up. Questions about her weapon, she could handle. She pulled out the blade, releasing the smaller one from the larger, cleaver-like sheath.
“ This is Gambol Shroud. The smaller blade collapses into a pistol that fires dust rounds. Sometimes I use cartridges of dust to work with my semblance. My semblance is Shadows. I leave behind a copy of myself to take the blow while I move to a different location. ”
“Really? That’s pretty cool!”
She smiles brightly at Blake.
“Your semblance is strategic in nature can can really surprise an enemy, a weapon with four forms is rare. My uncle’s has three, mine only has two.”
She pulled back her cloak, showing the weapon that was holstered on her belt.
“That’s Crescent Rose, she’s a ballistic sniper scythe, my semblance is speed.”
she pulled her cloak closed again.
“To be honest, I was utter garbage when I was young, some of my teachers didn’t think I had the quaility to make it through, but my Uncle took me under his week and taught me what I needed to know. In fact I managed to skip two years of schooling!”
The last words caught her attention. Her ears twitched, causing the bow on top to do the same. ‘Free’. No, not completely. She would never be completely free. The faunus has limitations. But who’s to say that she couldn’t break those limitations if she really tried to turn herself around ? Perhaps Ruby could help her do that. She sighed, her eyes lifting to look at the other. The first step was opening up. She guessed she could at least tell Ruby certain things.
“ What do you want to know about me ? ”
It was progress, it wasn’t something she could object to smiling she crossed her arms underneath her cloak, her single eye smiling along with her.
“Well, I know your name is Blake, and I know there are things you don’t want to tell me.”
She doesn’t want to push Blake away.
“Maybe your fighting style, weapon, semblance?”
She shifted, her gaze falling onto the ground as she crossed her arms over her chest. It was odd. This human actually cared about her safety. Even her old mentor didn’t care too much about her well-being. Not many people did, and she doubted that Ruby did, too. She scoffed at her words, rolling her eyes.
“ Right… I’m sure you do. ”
It was obviously sarcastic. She wasn’t sure why Ruby had picked her up, but she was sure it was for her own selfish reasons. What other motive would there be ?
Ruby caught the sarcasm, while her semblance made her swift, sarcasm wasn’t always her strong point. She rarely used it herself and found herself reeling in confusion more often than not when it was used against her.
“You know why I became a huntress?” She starts simply. “Because I want to be the heroes in the books. Always helping people. And never asking for anything in return.”
Her hand disappears under her red cloak.
“I can tell you’re a survivor. I just want to see you become more than just that. But if you don’t want to, I’m not forcing you to stay. You’re free to leave.”

The feline walked silently beside her new mentor, ears hidden beneath the silk bow she was found when she was on the streets. After learning the White Fang’s plans, she decided to leave. Her old mentor had gone crazy with power and she had escaped the best she could. It was safe to say that she was on a better path now. However, even after their time together, the two barely shared a word. Blake had always been quiet, but for some reason she was even less motivated to speak. Seeing as the other had stopped, she slowed her steps and looked up at the older woman, casting a questioning gaze towards her.
Ruby exhaled slowly as she pulled her cloak closer to her the cold was starting to settle in the kingdom and it was starting to effect the synthetics screwed to her body. “You know.” she said as she brought her organic hand up to adjust her collar. “It’s gonna be hard for us to work together if we don’t know much about each other.”
She looks over her shoulder at the younger faunus. “I know you don’t really want to talk about your past and I won’t force you. I just want to see you safe.”
