Inosuke x Mischievous!Fem S/O - Let’s Kiss [ONESHOT- 1.7k words]

[MODERN AU]

It was April’s fools, everyone who knew you were on their toes, aside from Inosuke- he was your partner in crime after all.

The thing is, that you’re rather mischievous, you loved pranking people, while you mostly did it for fun- you would always make sure the victim would get a laugh out of it too, if not, what would be the point of the prank then (unless the victim was Zenitsu). It was never your intention to hurt them, and while there were definitely times you went too far you’ve grown to learn to be more mindful. It wasn’t long until Inosuke noticed you either- always laughing and giggling while your peers were playfully scolded you. His eyes lit up like never before. All he knew was that you were friends with Tanjiro as he had seen you before with him.

Inosuke would always be having a blast with you- especially because you were a prankster and god he loved that.

You screamed chaotic energy, just like him.

Your name? Out of the question, he called you ‘clown’ before he found out what your name was. The two of you got to hang out more and be more close over the years along with Tanjiro, Zenitsu and more! Inosuke and you got along extremely well because of your mischievousness- almost too well, often, you two were called the devil duo despite you looking so innocent.

With Inosuke, you planned beforehand what kind of pranks you’d do for each, but didn’t actually prepare anything so instead you planned to meet early in the morning to buy some supplies.

“Where the hell is he?!” you grumbled under your breath as you looked over to your wrist eyeing your watch as you stomped your feet on the concrete floor.

Inosuke was late, and fashionably so. It had been over twenty minutes since you time you two planned to meet up, and he still wasn’t here.

“Sheesh.. Can he read time or not?” you sighed, crossing your arms in anger. However, you were quick to notice some loud footsteps and laughing in the background. 

‘It’s him’

“HyAHAHAHA! LORD INOSUKE IS HERE!” he roared as he ran closer to you.

Honestly, you couldn’t help but smile on the sight of seeing him with that stupid boar mask he loves so much, but you weren’t so nice to let him off so you gave a nice yet friendly smack on his back as you complained “You’re late! 20 minutes late!”, but he rebutted head-on, wasting no time “NO! You’re just mad early woman! Who the fuck wakes up at this time anyway?!”.

“Whatever you say..anyway, ready to go shopping, Lord-Insouke?” you smirked- if only you knew that it made him skip a heartbeat.

You and Inosuke slowly made your way to the city centre, getting lost a few times but getting back on track most of the time, you two bought most of the stuff you needed.

Ready to go back, you looked back at your checklist your eyes widen and your mouth drops as you realise that some of the stuff Inosuke was supposed to buy was missing. 

“Inosuke! We have to go back to the centre since you forgot three items! How’d you forget?”  

“Huh…? Gimme that!” he said as he snatched the paper off of your hands “Oh shit. I’m-”.

“C’mon, let’s go back- don’t worry.” you said as you grabbed his hands and dragged him with you.

 [TIMESKIP]

So, you got lost.

“It’s your fault Inosuke! This wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t just run away all the time!” you lamented, “HUUH??! NO IT’S YOUR FAULT SINCE YOU KEPT GOING INTO EVERY SHOP IN EXISTENCE!” refuted Inosuke.

As the two of you walked into a rather shady looking alleyway while you bickered, you couldn’t help but become red at the sight your eyes had landed upon. Even though you couldn’t see his face, you were sure Inosuke was also pretty surprised as he suddenly stopped behind and his breathing quickened a little.

There was a couple, probably both around their early 20s, that, with their hands tangled with each other’s, kissing passionately, even though shortly, under the daylight.

The two of you just stared as they broke off and giggled innocently and went for round two. 

Quickly, you took Inosuke’s hand and ran off from the direction you came from- there was no way you would go through that path with those lovebirds standing in your way!

“OI! WHAT- WHERE ARE WE GOING- M/N!” he yelled but you ignored him. The two of you passed through a crowd of people, trying to get past through to another, hopefully, empty alleyway. Luckily, you noticed there was one of your left and you and Inosuke (since you practically dragged him with you) swerved right into its entrance.

Inosuke huffed as he breathlessly said “wha- what the fuck man? Why’d you run like that!?”. The instance he said that you felt your cheeks warming up- “w-well.. Uh.. the couple was k-kissing and- we shouldn’t pry.. You know..?” you managed to reply between your puffs.

Surprised by your shyness, he just stared at you as you were normally upbeat and witty, especially when you were alone with him. He was silently observing you- you couldn’t tell that though as he had the boar head-on so you just tilted your head and leaned a millimeter closer to him, questioning his silence.

But soon after that, two hands grabbed you by your shoulders, making the bags of goods fall to the ground, and pushed you to the wall- it wasn’t so forceful that it was painful, but damn did it scare the shit out of you.

“I-InosuKE? What are you-!?” you yelled a whisper, but he cut you off with another loud whisper; “I WANNA DO IT TOO! WITH YOU M/N!”.

“HUH?! W-Wait WAIT WAIT WAIT INOSUKE!!” you rebutted, your face became as red and as hot as a pepper, “DO WHAT EXACTLY ??”.

“Well, the kissy shiz DUH??” he replied obnoxiously, seemingly unaware of his words, but that was enough to make you shut up- you dropped your eye contact with him to stare at the dark concrete floor with wondering eyes and red cheeks due to embarrassment.

Honestly, you didn’t hate the idea of it but the two of you weren’t dating despite being so close. Everyone could tell that you had feelings for this stupid pig-head, he was your stupid pig-head, but Inosuke? How does he feel about you? There were times that Tanjiro and Zenitsu mentioned that he would feel giddier, more bashful whenever he was with you, but you thought they only said these things to make to feel better as you’d often think that he would never understand the concept of love- he’d probably think it’s some sort of weakness. 

But for him to so boldly say that we wanted to kiss you- it really messed with your head.

You were dazed for so long that you didn’t even realise that Inosuke took his hands off of you but the rustling of something caught the attention of your ears. Slowly you moved your eyes and head toward the sound.

Inosuke took his boar mask off- this time, the sun-kissed sky was upon the two of you. His face shimmered in the lighting- it brought his feminine yet sharp features even more than they already were. You were also finally able to see his face, and surely enough, he too, was red which would explain why he was so unnaturally quiet.

His emerald eyes slowly made their way towards you, they were looking shy and unconfident unlike his prior excitement.

“..Inosuke…” you mumbled in awe- he was actually serious.

He looked like a lost puppy, unsure of whether to continue or run away from his words.

“Do- Do you… lo-like me..?” you asked almost breathlessly, “HUH? What kinda question is that?! Of course I do?? What the fuck would i want to-” he cried out but stopped as soon as he realised that he just confessed to you in the most embarrassing way possible- he didn’t even mean to!

“I- Uh! WELL M/N! thERE’S NO WAY THAT YOU CAN RESIST THE GREAT INOSUKE CAN YOU? HAHAHa ha..” he said trying to change the conversation, but his awkward laugh didn’t help but to enunciate his own embarrassment.

God, what a mess he was.

“Y/N”

Him getting your name right made you look up towards him with wide eyes- my, what a mistake that was; his face was too close to yours, you had no room to move back.

“Y-Yes?” you yelped out as he stepped even closer, held your hand quietly and laid his face on the crook of your neck, unable to show his flushed face to you.

“Can we kiss?” he breathed shyly on your neck, yet the statement was daring as always.

A few seconds pass, they seem like hours for both of you.

He gently removes his head off of you, his hands still intertwined with yours, and locks your eyes on you.

You nervously nod your head as a response to his question.

He steps closer to you, releasing one of his hands from your fingers to cup your warm cheeks as you quietly close your eyes. As he leans in closer, you can feel his breathing become more and more irregular until he places his lips against yours.

The kiss was soft, almost childlike and innocent since neither of you did anything like this before.

It seemed like it lasted for eternity until he broke it off.

Neither of you spoke a word, but both of you looked at each other with shy eyes.

Your wondering eyes caught the plastic bag and his boar mask. Still blushing, you reached out for both and picked them up.

“Let’s… go back I-Ino-Insouke..” you stuttered, fumbling your words.

He didn’t say anything back, but he took the bag of your hands and walked back with his other, free hand in this pocket. You held the mask close to your chest as the two of you walked together, side by side, and it didn’t seem like either of you were ready to get rid of those rosy cheeks.

Needless to say, everyone was surprised and scared shitless that the devil duo didn’t do anything this year.

at first, he didn’t really understand why you voiced your opinions so much about equality, after all, most women in the corps were treated the same as their male counterpart, and he, well, was raised by boars too

he actually got really curious about you and all this ‘feminism’, this was mostly due to your confidence; it just engulfed him- the way you were so outspoken never afraid to state her thoughts, whether it was about feminism or another topic

he really really liked listening to you speaking

you taught him that girls (outside of the demon slayer corps) were not seen equal- always seen inferior, fragile and often married off at a young age without ever being able to experience life (which is what pissed you off the most)

needless to say, he was shook because you weren’t fragile at all

every time you mentioned anything similar he would stand up and start yelling (lovingly) about how strong and not weak you were

you agreed with him!! he’s right after all, no need to deny it

your level of excitement whenever you are talking about feminism reach inosuke levels of excited

especially when you’re with inosuke- he always agrees and stays with you

you don’t actually know if it’s because he understands the topic or something else but you don’t mind as he’s the only person who never got tired nor bored

it was as if, for the first time someone actually listened to you with their ears open

you would be his challenge every day

his goal? to pin you down and finally be stronger than you

at first, this was annoying, all he did was screaming about to train him, fight him and he didn’t stop

you thought it was out of arrogance, but as time went on and you got to know him more, you realised it was out of admiration and pure desire to become like you

you found that super cute, so you slowly fell in love with him

unlike the others, took on his challenges, but you helped him out with advice and tips

he loves how you never refused- and every time you two are done your gentle and sweet aura soothed him as both of you were tired after the long days of training

he fell in love with your confidence and energy but he knows nothing about love- and, often went up to another hashira he liked, shinobu, and told her everything

while at first shinobu said that he felt that way towards you and you were overall very friendly and open, but soon enough, she too realised that it was love for the pig-head

and she convinced him, that, for the one time he is actually able to defeat you, he should say those special words to you

and oh boy if that encouraged him,- his progress was hard to ignore and hard to keep up with!

one day, he really was able to pin you down on the ground during one your training sessions with him,

you were surprised, your eyes and mouth were opened wide as ever, but  they soon formed a smile instead as you praised him

his sweat beads fell on you, his mouth too, forming a smile, he declared “I LIKE-no wait,,lo-LOVE YOU Y/N!!”

surprised? confused? flustered? you were anything and everything in that moment

but most importantly, you were happy so..

you couldn’t help yourself but to hug him and whisper “i love you too, inosuke” back

love didn’t stop inosuke from trying to pin you down again and again, and honestly, you just let him win sometimes as he’d always get very excited and giddy every time and that sight was too precious to not see it whenever it was possible

Shes confident and sweet but used to be really insecure about her skin color. i just wish we got to see more brown skin representation in anime that didnt involve them being gangsters or thugs - _ -

you always used to be very shy and insecure because of your skin colour- it made you stand out from everyone else

slowly with time, however, you came to embrace your beautiful shade

your insecurity turned into confidence that outshined most- yet you always stayed humble and sweet

arrogance was far from your personality

inosuke absolutely loved that about you, your confidence was his 2nd favourite thing about you

your confused state of mind masked the furious footsteps and the ‘mY BOAR MASK!! YOU ASS ZENITSU! I’LL MAKE YOU PAY FOR THIS!’ echoing through the forest

you snapped back as the footsteps approached you and quickly repositioned yourself in a fighting stance, with the boar head still next to your foot

a pretty boy with a rugged demon slayer uniform ran towards…you?

his beautiful dark hair blue hair with lighter ends swayed gracefully in the wind

inosuke honestly didn’t notice you as he was too busy running towards his precious, little, dirty mask

it was as if time stopped as inosuke faced up to look at you- a complexion he hasn’t seen before- you were glowing in the sun 

and he unconsciously stopped

without realising, the both of you were staring at each other, wide-eyed, with rosy cheeks

“INOSUKE!” tanjiro and zenitsu screamed as they followed him

that broke the silence between you and him really

“i..is this thing yours…?” you said, still puzzled with everything, but inosuke didn’t reply so you started to walk towards him

that gave him quite the stares from both tanjiro and zenitsu, who was grinning as he was able to hear inosuke’s heart beat quickening as you came closer

he became redder by the second- you two didn’t have much of a height difference so you were able to see this quite clearly, ‘oh how cute’ you thought

out of nowhere, he SCREAMED, and in a split second, he took both his mask, put it on and ran away again

this left you, zenitsu and tanjiro somewhat confused

when you first met him, you found him puzzling- he couldn’t read, write and ate like a beast

you, on the other hand, knew how to perfectly read and write despite being a woman in that era, and was raised to eat the most elegant way possible by perfecting your manners 

you came from a rich family- from an upper-class background

while your family disapproved of your career choice of hunting demons, it didn’t stop them from helping you whenever you needed it

inosuke and you were completely different- opposites

he was loud, outspoken and brimming with energy

you were quiet, composed and gentle

however, you never judged him, rather, you sympathised with him and were very curious

honestly, curiosity would be an understatement

aside from going out to kill humans and go to any meetings, you aren’t allowed to leave your house

and ever since you met inosuke you were filled with interest with what he did to survive and before joining the demon slayer corps

inosuke was reluctant to talk you at first- you gave almost gave an unapproachable vibe

but as you hanged out with the boys more, he acted more and more normal around you

as you and the pig head got more along together you started to ask him questions which he wasn’t afraid to answer- he did so with pride! he had something over the girl with supposedly everything! 

he loved to boast about himself and the loved even more than you didn’t mind one bit- you made him feel very welcomed

(and giddy duh) 

whenever he talked, you always had a smile- eventually, whenever you saw him, your heart started to beat faster, butterflies in your stomach, the need to get closer to him- everything occurred at once

you could no longer just stand beside him without blushing and dozing off

it was harder and harder for you to keep composed with your feelings rummaging your heart

but- you family would definitely not approve of this

they gave you so much freedom, but this wouldn’t cut

inosuke was far from being an upper-class boy- you weren’t allowed to fall in love with him

you started to distance yourself from him- you thought that if you didn’t get any closer, your feeling would subside

in the end, while distancing yourself slowly but surely, it half worked- your feelings remained but you were able to ignore them

not for long though

one day, while screaming “cOMING THROUGH! COMING THROUGH!”, he took you by the hand and dragged you somewhere

where? neither of you knew 

both of you were gasping for air as soon as inosuke stopped and your mind started running, where are we? are we lost? oh my god, why are we here alone? why did he just do t-

your train of thought was broken by a rather husky voice of his- “Y/N” he said, firmly

your heart skipped a beat- it was one the first times he said your voice like that- especially with the right pronunciation

reluctantly, you replied with a soft “yes?”

he said, with the boar mask still on, “YOU! YOu have… you been ignoring me!?” his voice still husky, as if he’s hurt and that killed you

“i-, inosuke i’m…so sorry” you started to sob as you fell on your knees, dirtying your uniform, “do you.. hate me..?” he cut you off again

“NO! it’s not that- far from it actually- i just- i just can’t..!” tears fell of your eyes as you rebutted

“THEN WHAT? I- I like it when… when WE’RE TOGETHER!! It..makes me feel.. all soft.. i hate not feeling that way..” his fists clenched, what did i do wrong? he thought

you felt guilty, even with the mask on, you could tell that he was hurting “ino…suke… i- really, really do like you…but with how i am currently we….we can’t be… together..”  

he knew what you meant- after all you’ve been clutching your family’s pin all this time without even realising so

“I DON’T CARE IF THEY DON’T LIKE ME! All…that matters… is you..y/n..” he yelled, but he brought you closer into a hug

you two stood there for a long time

during his fight with kanao against upper moon two, douma , the bizarrely-eyed demon said that inosuke’s mother was killed by him

but douma looked puzzled as kanao and inosuke launched their attacks at him

doing some more brain digging, he cheered, “Aha!”, catching both inosuke and kanao off caught

“ah yes, yes, that’s right! you also have an older sister! i wonder what her name was again..” douma said

his eyes widened even more, his veins popping as his blood boiled- he didn’t question the fact that he had an older sister at the moment, but was irritated by the fact that he might have killed her too

“hmmm.. oh! that’s right! kotoha-chan mentioned before that she had left her with her abusive husband as she wanted to cover up her and your mother’s tracks~! what a wonderful sister… i honestly wished that she was with kotoha-chan just to eat her up~”

“I’M GONNA SEND YOU TO HELL!” inosuke screamed- his voice cracked while blood was dripping from his mouth and chest

the rest continued the same as the manga

MANGA SPOILERS END

after the WHOLE fight is over  insouke, tanjiro and zenitsu, while on their breaks from defeating demons, took their time to help out inosuke in finding his sister

they didn’t know what she looked like, so they just went on as assuming that she looked like inosuke

this meant that insouke, started to wear his boar mask less and less often, just to everyone can remember can he looks like

eventually, it worked

she was a year older- she looked quite similar to inosuke, her hair was more blue though

in fact, she was the one to first approach the trio- after all inosuke had their mother’s face, it was hard to just ignore him and walk by

she couldn’t help but break down in front of him, giving him a tight hug, and needless to say, he did the same

the sister, was quite the opposite- elegant, and calm, but strict regardless of her kindness and told the boys that eventually, she escaped from her abusive father few years after kotoha left them and now lives with a foster family (who welcomed inosuke warmly)

people always think you’re younger than you actually are and it gets really annoying

which is why you’re always feisty, as everyone says, but you would rather call it standing your ground

you met inosuke few months ago, all he calls you is a midget , shorty and the occasional mispronounced name

it was annoying at first, so you used to retaliate a lot first

whether it was with agreeing with his declarations of war, you picking a fight with him or just arguing with him just to get a reaction out of him (and you can’t say he doesn’t have hilarious one) but, soon it became more of a mutual teasing

he always felt very satisfied whenever you accepted his challenges as neither zenitsu nor tanjiro would give in, and when you two did train together, you would always smile in the end which always made him feel giddy

(which is why he kept asking- just to see that smile but he’ll never admit it)

nothing too serious though- you didn’t want to be hated

in fact, he really admired you for your heroism- you never backed down, even if that thing involved your height

indeed you were very brave, almost… stupidly

saving each other’s back multiple times, love sparked for you for the boar-headed boy

you obviously denied it at first but once seeing his face, that smile,  (you didn’t see up until now! you tried to convince him but he’s very thick-headed) you couldn’t hide it anymore

Since I see all these confident, brave female headcannons, and I thought to request one with a different shade from Inosuke. Inosuke x Depressed!Fem S/O 

he’s confused

he knows you’re sad, upset and moody but he doesn’t really know why, after all, nothing happened (as far as he knows)

however, because of the natagumo mountain incident, he knows how it feels

he’s much quieter- he wants to give you space, so, he doesn't face you- he just sits next to you

often enough though, he’ll take a glance at you and realise that you haven’t slept in a while- you dark circles become more prominent by the day

you’ll start to realise all the little things he’s doing for you, both for when you’re around and when you’re not

eventually, you thank him

those small bits of kindness really helped you through your time, as well helping you to reflect on everything and clear your mind

after your thanks, he slowly approaches you, and 

gives you a warm, soft hug

it surprised you, really

you returned the hug, your eyes tearing up-

in a rather muffled tone (since he still has the boar mask on) he whispers “i.. don’t know much.. but.. you can talk to me..”

you stay like that for quite a few minutes, you didn't really want to leave it

 (whenever he's sad, he would want to be in a warm and cozy place (around the fur of boars!!)

so personally i don’t think inosuke would be much a talker with someone who’s feeling depressed- i feel like he’s more of a listener in those moments, and i hope you agree!!

you often use ‘boku’ to refer to yourself which is a more masculine way to refer to oneself in japanese

this can lead to some thinking you’re a boy (aka inosuke) but most people will eventually figure out that you’re not (aka not inosuke)

before you tell him you’re a girl, he would get all excited and ask you to fight him, like, constantly

“fIGHT ME! or are you to scared?! I wouldn’t blame ya! after all, i am tHE lord inosuke!”

he doesn’t believe you’re a girl at first as you’re masculine and not to mention, very physically strong

however, as you two spend more time together he realises that you’re actually pretty feminine

he’ll notice how you tuck your strands on hair behind your ear, how your short hair (in a ponytail?) flutters in the wind, how your smile is so soft and genuine, how you-

oh my, he’s in love.

he’ll often space out whenever he’s with you, so you’ll have to get real close to his face to get him out of that state- but you’re oblivious to how close you two are

(in fact, insouke’s the only one who acts like this, as, everyone else treats you like a boy just because that’s what you seem to be more comfortable with) 

one day, you two sit next to each other and you decide to confide to him why you act and dress in a masculine way- to be strong, so people don’t look down on you, so that you look tougher

he immediately cuts you off saying you’re very strong (not stronger than him though, duh) and compliments you

and he accidentally slips up and mentions how cute you are

your cheeks become rosy as inosuke’s red to the toe

the fact that you start laughing makes him even more bashful

you reply with a quiet “thanks, you’re also really cute” 

“cUTE?! ME?” he speaks, rather loudly in a manner form which you can’t really understand if he’s angry or just confused

“uh??? w-well.. handsome..??? is that better??” you hastily say which makes you redder than you were before
