at 12pm sharp, he’s at ingrid’s door and knocking. after crossing path at random times in the complex and only long enough for a quick chat the last few months, echo reached out to her the previous day to go out for lunch. while they met through his ex, they remained close even after the relationship ended. “it’s been a while.” he gives her a hug. “have you been well?”

taeho has kept to himself for the last few days. he doesn’t want to see anyone from his friend group. can he even call them friends still? fed up doesn’t come close to describing the state the free spirited boy is in. his annoyance and anger towards both sophia and thorn hasn’t decreased in the slightest, in fact, it’s stronger than before. when he hears a knock at his door, he reluctantly opens it and regrets it instantly when he sees ingrid. “if you came here to lecture me, get lost.” he doesn’t need to hear another pointless speech on how he has to forgive thorn and whatever else bullshit.

             she greets her friend with a smile, holding off on an embrace for later.   ❝ nah, that’ll be tomorrow, ❞   she teases, hoping taeho wasn’t too angry to see past her joke,   ❝ i came to see if you wanted to hang out? ❞   after she asked, she gives him a quick hug. if she was being honestly, she was tired of arguing. it was a drag and she’d rather do something fun. distracting, to be more specific as that was her go to when dealing with stressful situations.   ❝ there’s a new gourmet ice cream place nearby that i’ve been meaning to check out. we could go there if you’re interested. ❞

She continued walking, only stopping to turn to the other with a perfectly-rehearsed hair flip before waving a hand in the air. “Oh, you don’t have to mind JP and his crew,” she said, for once acknowledging the camera crew following her around. “They’re doing a whole segment on how I’m spending my birthday, so—smile! You’re on camera.”

           there was something about how lark flipped her hair that put ingrid on alert and she was glad cause she was camera ready for jp. ❝ i was just about to say: happy birthday! ❞   she went over to hug the other and placed a kiss on her temple.   ❝ what do you have planned for today? ❞

returning the hug ,  cleo can’t help but make a mwah sound .  she loves her friends , even if she does a shitty job at it. ` i knew you wouldn’t let me down . ` doing a dance out of excitement , cleo’s eyes watch as the elevator finally reaches her floor , stepping out with pep . she’s more than ready to kick off the girls day . ` we can just wing it , i feel like planned days are overrated . ` a shrug of her shoulders and she notions the girl to follow her , pulling her keys from her pocket and unlocking her door in one swift moment . `  make yourself at home ,  what did you want to drink ?  anything to snack on ?` 

             ❝ that’s true, ❞   she chuckled, always a fan of spontaneous plans. she was tempted to look inside the bags to see what caused the noise from before, but she kept her curiosity in check.   ❝ i can just drink what you’re having. ❞   although she didn’t check, ingrid assumed there were alcoholic beverages inside and she’s never been picky with those types of drinks.   ❝ ooh, do you have any baby carrots? ❞   she’s always had an odd addiction to the treat.

           she burst into a laugh at his lemongrab imitation,   ❝ oh, my gosh. that was so amazing. you just made my day way more better, so thank you for that. ❞   her smile grew as he mentioned his sketch book.   ❝ yeah, i’d love to see them! what kind of boobs are we talking, though? is it, like, a good representation of boobs? wait, is it like one of those things where you draw each person you’ve been with? ❞   she wasn’t entirely sure if he was joking or not but, honestly, she wouldn’t be against taking a look. she moved her hands so she could squeeze his lips together before letting them go with a laugh.   ❝ she definitely did! snapped harder than all the times thanos combined. ❞

“In the middle of nowhere. Time? They didn’t give us the time. They had us so disconnected, we had to guess like it was the Stone Age or something.” A total lie, but he couldn’t risk giving specifics knowing Ingrid and Sophia had gone all around the world searching for him. “But I could use something a little laid back tonight, I guess.” He nodded, the ghost of a smile upon his lips. “Hopefully.”

           ❝ they didn’t even tell you the time? that’s so weird. are you sure you weren’t actually in prison? you can tell me if you were, i promise to keep it a secret. ❞   she was just kidding, of course, and she had no idea how the off-grid groups worked so she believed everything he was saying to her.   ❝ kickback it is! ooh, we should rent out a theater so you can catch up on all the new movies you missed! we can go to the ones that sell food so we can eat too! ❞

           𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐎𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐒   he heard his name, elijah recognized the voice of his best friend. a smile lighting up his features , and no longer did he care about the person he’d just been talking to. not when ingrid had suddenly made an appearance.  ❝   ingrid !!  ❞  he greeted the other, happily taking her arm within his own .  ❝  you couldn’t have come at a better time. please, that would make everything so much easier. looking for them myself was starting to put a real damper on my mood.  ❞  he followed beside her as she guided him in the direction of the elevators—completely ignoring his previous company .   ❝   you’d do that for me ??   ❞  his free hand went over his chest in a dramatic manner, offering her a smile.   ❝  i’d appreciate it. whichever one of your servers gets the job done, i’ll be sure to give them one of my rolexs.  ❞ he reassured,  perking up at the last of what she had to say.    ❝   oh, something fun  ??  did you have anything in mind ??    ❞

           ingrid remembered the first time she lost her key. it was tragic. in fact, it was when she first moved into the complex. after that moment on, she always gave her key to her assistant so they could be responsible for it.   ❝ that does sound like a drag, to be honest. don’t worry, though, we can forget about looking for it all together. ❞   honestly, she just wanted their doors to have the numbered keypads or, better yet, finger prints. it would make her life so much easier.   ❝ of course! aw, that’s so nice of you! i’ll be sure to let them know. ❞   she pursed her lips, trying to think of what they could do.   ❝ i don’t think my brain’s working right now, ❞   she informed, as it was taking her longer than usual.   ❝ maybe should we go out and buy some dolphins? ❞

           𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐃 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃   a way of making zac laugh, and today was no different.  as soon as she mentioned juuls, his cigarette almost fell out of his mouth due to his own laughter . and it was instantly , that he appreciated the joke. rolling his eyes in a playful manner before taking back the box he offered her moments ago. he takes a drag , inhaling the smoke before blowing it in the opposite direction of his friend.   ❝  oh yeah— im out here, just adding to mother nature’s demise , huh ??  next time i’ll be sure to juul. i’ll even get a flavor that smells nice. what screams badass—  cotton candy , or strawberry milk ??  ❞  he raised a brow, his cigarette now between both fingers as he shot her a grin. obviously joking. however, it was her next question that quickly deterred him away from the subject he’d been going on about and rather to the idea of food.  ❝  you’re going to berkley for a hot god ??  wait—are you going to top dog ??  ❞  zac was suddenly excited, because how could he turn down an opportunity like this.     ❝   i totally want to join !!   i actually haven’t eaten yet—and a hot dog kind of sounds good right about now.  ❞ 

           ❝ oh, that’s easy. it’s cotton candy. strawberry milk is like baby and cotton candy is more hardcore. have you ever seen a punk singer with strawberry milk hair? no. that’s cause cotton candy hair is way cooler. ❞   honestly, she had no logic to her words. the only thing driving them was her preferring the cotton candy scent over the other.   ❝ i am! ❞   she was impressed he could guess that just from her mentioning berkely, though, it definitely was one of the top businesses there that wold the item.   ❝ yay! oh, my gosh. i’m excited! ❞   just thinking of the food again sparked her enthusiasm, which caused her to she grabbed onto his free hand and lead him into her car. once they were seated she signaled her  driver to leave.   ❝ wait, did you say you haven’t eaten yet? why not? do i have to send you food? cause i definitely will. ❞

                    oh  ,  how  minseok  would  like  to  disappear  from  the  face  of  the  earth .   ❝       un - acceptable   !    ❞   ignoring  the  fact  that  he  sounded  like  lemongrab  ,  minseok  hid  his  face  in  his  hoodie ,  hoping  that  would  make  the  other  disappear ,  too .   at  the  hug  though ,  minseok  practically  melted  against  her  ,  cheek  rubbing  against  her  and  squeezing  her  playfully .    ❝       i  can  do  better ,  though .  ‘tis  just  a   few  minute  doodle   .   .   .   .  ❞  sighing ,  minseok  snorted  at  her  words ,  going  somewhat  bug - eyed  at  her  attempted  joke  .    ❝     can’t  believe  you  compared  me  to  the   chancellor  , you  dick  !    ❞   at  that  ,  he  placed  his  hands  on  her  cheeks ,  squeezing  her  like  a  toddler  with  a  cooing  voice .    ❝    but  you  are  so  cute  so  i  will  allow  it .    ❞

             ❝ unacceptable? ❞   she asked, laughter laced throughout the word.   ❝ are you lemongrab now? lemonseok. wait, that doesn’t have the same ring to it. ❞   she raised her brows at his following words.   ❝ really? this is so good already! hypothetically, do you have a sketch book with your for-real drawings? if so, would i ever hypothetically be able to see it? ❞   she couldn’t help but burst into another laugh at his reaction to her joke.   ❝ is it still comparing if i think you’re on another level than him? ❞   she mirrored his movement and placed her hands on his cheeks as well, putting light pressure against them as well.   ❝ thank you for calling me cute, though, so are you. ❞

it  always  took  cleo  a  moment  to  register  with  her  surroundings  ,  perhaps  that’s where  here  selfishness  came  into  play  .  without  hesitating  , she  presses  the  third  key  , settling  in for  the sort  ride  when  it  finally  clicks  .  it’s  ingrid  , one  of  her  very  best  friends  .  enthusiasm  covers  her  face  as  she  goes  to  throw  her  arms  around  the  girl  , the  clinking  of  bottles  making  her  realize  she  just  doesn’t  have  the  arm  space  for  it  .  `  this  must  be  fate  ,  because  i was  gonna see  if  you  wanted  to  come  over  after  i  got  into  my  apartment  !  `  she  watches  the  floor  numbers  go  up  , realizing  she was  running  out  of  time  to  invite  her  friend  over  for  a  girls  day  .  `  sure , thanks  .  `   bags  slide  off  of  her  arms  and  extend  over too ingrid  , thankful  she  had  offered  to  help  .  liquor  bottles  could  get  heavy  .  `  how  do  you  feel  about  a  girls  day  ?  `

             she was just about to walk into cleo’s arms when she heard the bottles hit against each other, causing her to jump slightly.   ❝ oh, my gosh. it totally is! ❞   after she takes the bags handed to her, she finally went to hug her friend since her hands were more free and gave her friend a quick kiss on the cheek as well.   ❝ i'm always down to have a girls day, though! do you have anything planned or should we wing it? ❞   as she asks, the elevator reaches her floor and she nonchalantly presses the close buttons to align with her spontaneous change of plans.

             she almost spit out her drink as sofia told her story. ingrid always had an awful time noticing the people around her, aside her friends, so she was learning about this for the first time.   ❝ gosh, people are so weird! i really should pay attention to people more, that way i can actually see what these people look like. ❞   honestly, it was a mix of her being too air headed and addicted to her phone.   ❝ ooh, that’s actually a good halloween costume idea! we can have each other’s head attached to our necks! ❞   the holiday was almost a year away but she was inspired.   ❝ ah, nothing really. just some random flings here and there. ooh, have you heard of hunting bars in korea? you can find people to spend the night with, they’re kinda fun. ❞

             ingrid was making her way back into haven, after a very long shopping spree, when she saw elijah in the lobby speaking to someone. she sent her servers away to carry her bags into the room so she could pry into his conversation.   ❝ eli! ❞   she quickened her pace as she made her way over to him. she hugged him from behind and placed a kissed his shoulder before resting her chin against it.   ❝ wait, did you say you lost your key? we can just go in through my door! ❞   she let go of elijah and linked arms with him instead as she led them to the elevators, waving goodbye to the other person.   ❝ want me to send someone to get you a copy of your key? we can do something fun while we wait. ❞

               𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊   pressed against the the wall, a spot near haven’s entrance, zac attempt to kill time. loitering, waiting as if for something. and, without purpose, the male exhales a few of his own clouds ━ some much smaller and similar to the grey ones which loom overhead. and, he’s come out, in hopes to get a little air–-to see who or what life might throw his way.  hands stuffed into the pockets of his hoodie, a cigarette hangs loosely from his lips. letting out yet another puff of smoke, the cold air almost tempts him to go back inside. however, it’s then, the presence of another sparks zac’s interest. tilting his head to get a better look at the individual coming his way,  naturally, he motions a box of cigarettes at them, a grin illuminating his features. pleased with who he’s met with.  ❝   you want one ??  ❞

          she didn’t know why, but ingrid had a strong craving for a hot dog. however, it wasn’t just any one. it was the kielbasa from top dog in berkely. so, she did what anyone would do in this situation. call her driver so they could make a trip to the restaurant. she was on her way to her car when she saw a familiar face just outside their apartment complex, altering her path in order to greet him. she glances down at the box and made her best attempt to keep a straight face, though the essence of a smile was still along her slips.   ❝ zac, you can’t use cigarettes! juuls are more environmentally healthy. ❞   as she spoke the smile only grew until she was finally able to laugh at her own joke.   ❝ i’m okay, though. actually, are you busy? i’m heading to berkley for some hot dogs if you wanna join. ❞

chaemin all but melted into her arms, giggling slightly as she pressed her lips to his cheek. “ i’m practically in my pyjamas ingrid! but thank you. ” linking their arms, chaemin started walking towards the elevator, gasping at her suggestion. “oh my god yes please! we haven’t had a sleepover in so so long. ” pressing the call button, the blond rested his head on ingrids shoulder, humming quietly. “and order some really good food, but of course the main event would be the chocolate.”

             ❝ really? you have very fancy pjs, then, ❞   she said with a stern nod. she just wore oversized shirts to bed, often finding herself too lazy to wear anything else.   ❝ we really haven’t! it’s gonna be extra fun cause it’s been a while. do you want to order in or should i get my chef to make something? ooh, or maybe both? ❞   she rested her head atop his, only taking her’s off when the elevator opened and she led them inside.   ❝ what are you craving? it’s officially chaemin day, ❞   she said whilst pressing the third floor.

           ❝       wait ,  oh , no , no , no  don’t  look  at  that !   ❞   perhaps  minseok  should  have  double - checked  before  slipping  the  other  the  pieces  of  papers  that  he  had  doodled  on ,  and  perhaps  he  should  have  made  sure  the  advertisements  for  his  band’s  show  was  not  covered   with   mindless  doodles  .  but  mistakes  had  been  made ,  and  now  he  had  to  deal  with  the  consequences .   now ,  minseok  was  not  a  bad  artist  per  say ,  he  was  decent ,  and  he  had  his  special  style , but  his  doodles  were  mostly  lewd  &  gore  influenced  .  worst  of  all  though ,  was  that  minseok  had  doodled  them  on  the  paper  as  boredom  had  gotten  to  him , their  portrait  taking  up  almost  half  the  paper ;  their  side  profile  and  front  profile , as  well  as  minor  details  about  their  appearance  inked  down  with  delicacy .     ❝     .   .   .  that ‘ s   .   .   .   .  yeah   .   .   .  i  dropped  out  of  art  school  so  don’t  judge  me ,  or  else  i  will cry .       ❞

           it was too late for her. she had already seen the drawings of herself on the paper as he told her not to see them.   ❝ i already saw them, i’m sorry! ❞   she felt bad, hoping she didn’t cause minseok too much stress.   ❝ they look really good, though! ❞   she said, unable to hide how impressed she was with his skills. she moved closer to him in order to give him a soft hug, gently patting his head as she did so.   ❝ honestly, i feel honored to be drawn. ❞   in her eyes, he used some of his day to spend time and draw her and it made her happy.   ❝ i mean, you got into art school. you know what that means: you are that much better than hitler. ❞   she gave him her best smile, hoping he’d appreciate her attempt at a joke.

When Ingrid totally just skips over his question, he doesn’t mind. The important thing was that he was here now, and that at least one friend so far has taken him back with open arms. “Of course you do. Your pick. Or we can just celebrate here, that’s the fastest.” He just flew back to San Francisco, after all, and if he had to be honest, travelling again seemed tiring to him in that moment. When he noticed Ingrid’s expression change, he lowers his gaze himself. A little sad was a huge understatement, he knew, based on the messages Vi had left him on his phone. “Yeah, alright,” he said, voice a little more serious. “I appreciate it, Ingrid.”

          ❝ yeah, we could do something here! wait, where were you during your retreat-thing? ❞   she only asked because she realized he may be tired and she didn’t want to exhaust him.   ❝ like, what timezone? i need to know what kind of party to have. it can range from small kickback to going to, like, audio or somewhere. ❞   she suddenly made a face, towards herself, as she realized she mixed up some of her words.   ❝ wait, why’d i say call? i meant i’ll text her, ❞   she said whilst sending a message to her friend.   ❝ hopefully she’ll see you back and hear what you have to say. ❞
