Welcome! I'm Inquiry, an Earth Pony running a rather humble hardware store call "Tools of the Trade." The store is mostly a way to keep myself busy from day-to-day and is generally maintained by my young assistant, Cherry Petal. My free time is spent exploring the way the world works, researching what other ponies have discovered and trying to make inventions to profit most from my (and their) findings. R63 Thundersong on the left- I guess she’d be called Tempest Melody then. Jimp came up with the name. Thundersong in a laboratory magic-potion-resistant horse blanket and goggles on the right- Hippogriffs have no inherent magic other than whatever Gryphons can do, so Thundersong is interested in potions.

What sparks inspiriation for inventions? I've heard that nessesscity is the mother of all invention but figured someone would occasionally create something 'just because'

Necessity only goes so far. Sometimes you see something and think, "That could be done better." But the truly great creations come from somepony saying, "Wouldn't it be awesome if..."

9. No tattoos for me. There are only three ways I know of to get a tattoo and none of them appeal to me. The first, the Earth pony method, involves just dyeing/painting one's coat over and over. Seems like too much work. Pegasi use a method where rainbow extract is injected just below the skin so hair and feathers grow in with that color. Too much, though, can be toxic. I've read stories of pegasi using tattoos as a method of showing of their strength. And, finally, unicorns make tattoos through magically altering the grown fur color. It's the most convenient method, to be sure, but I don't trust a unicorn messing around with my body like that.

MOD: Answers

Ok, so what I'm trying to do now that i have a bit more of a grasp of fingerpainting (also known as drawing on a tablet computer) I'm going to do all my answers on the tablet and my story/invention/sciency-explaination-thingies on my real computer. Hopefully that will get me through he backlog of questions and let me do the other Equestrian world mechanics that have become head-canon to me. Thanks for sticking with me so far! Edit: Note to self, proofread before posting. ¬_¬

I've not built a flying machine as of yet. I am working on a flying... device of sorts. There are a few... ah... problems I'm running into with it though. I... I don't really feel comfortable talking about them just yet... soon maybe...

I really need to figure out how to keep magical beings out of my home... maybe some type of mana inhibitor...
