One of the funniest things about CQL to me is they clearly spent a ton of time on set and prop design, the clothes are gorgeous, all the hairpieces look good, the swords are amazing... and then the money is just spray painted rocks. Like obviously spray painted. They didn’t even get good colors of silver and gold to try to pretend that’s not what they did. I know this is irrelevant to pretty much everything but I just have to point it out to someone? I can’t unsee it???

on one hand, I respect and appreciate the production crew for all the hard work they put into creating this fantastic world pretty much from scratch (waves at Hengdian as it goes by)

on the other hand, they clearly looked at their budget and was like “we’ll rent the knock-off Disney lair for Nightless City for $8/hour, please, and put our entire budget into Cloud Recesses, shiny swords, and twenty miles of chiffon”
