My headcanon: Myc’s psychic powers cause him to unintentionally reflect the behaviors of those around him. His teacher mentioned that Myc’s powers are unusually sensitive, after all.

This is part of why he’s always felt so excluded; whenever he’s around someone, he unintentionally absorbs their thought process, and given that he’s usually surrounded by total assholes, this is at least part of why he’s such an asshole. The other mushrooms Myc went to Hive School with, despite being a hive mind, still have individual thoughts and opinions Myc could pick up on, and Myc was able to pick up on how they TRULY felt towards him. When Myc took over their Hive mind near the end of that episode, he wasn’t just imposing his personality onto them, but broadcasting their negativity to EACH OTHER in a way that Myc felt they’d done to him for years.

This is also why he’s such a jerk as an adult, since he works at Cognito Inc of all places. Everyone is selfish and rude, so he acts in turn. It’s also not a coincidence that he seems to act a weensy bit nicer once Brett begins to assert himself more and become more vocal amongst the gang.

Warning Post for IJ Community

I just thought I should warn other IJ artists that you should keep an eye out for the user @/iamscumbag-blog

I dont really know what his deal is, but he has a habit of spamming long paragraphs of text on fanart of JR Scheimpough insisting that he is the real version of him. His messages can be kind of hostile and he probably will repost your art without permission, I'd recommend blocking him to avoid interaction.

His username is usually the same as the blog I've just shown but if not you can usually find him in the JR tags of most social medias. He most likely will comment on every single post he can find and spam @ people a lot. If you find any other accounts on other platforms just block. Dont harass him.
