The State of our Nation: An address to Christians...inspired by Jeremiah 3:1-10
I feel like God would say the same thing to the United States right now. Our nation is progressively becoming more and more godless and playing the whore. We worship the "gods" of politics, celebrity, media, pornography, sports...etc and wonder why racism, murder, rape, hate, homosexuality and a host of other sins are running rampant. There are celebrities and prominent figures that mean well as far as change goes, but they only have band-aids. They don't have the cure. This world needs Jesus. It's time for Christians (who are being figuratively buried right now) to be bolder than ever in their proclamation of Christ in word and deed. People have to know that the greatest solution for the problems we face are not merely external, but that there are billions who have a heart issue that can only be fixed through the blood of Christ. A lot of the things I listed with regard to sin are in part the result of Christians not being holy and sober-minded, and setting our hope fully on the grace that will be brought to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as Peter tells us to do in 1 Peter 1:13-17. Our compromises have a greater impact than we know on those around us and though we all represent just one individual that doesn't mean that we can't effect change. Christ was the standard, and throughout scripture and even in our own lives we have seen people who have modeled what it looks like to be in but not of the culture or the world's system. These are people who didn't just read and highlight scriptures on Youversion to fulfill a quota, but they labored in the word in meditation. Psalm 1 says we're to meditate on the word day and night. When we do this we'll stop blending in with the world and actually stand out and give people a reason to ask about the hope that's within us that doesn't represent anything this world stands for. Be blessed family.
