kaido: a supernatural extension of one’s spirit. kaido is inherited, and cannot be learned if one is not born with the “spiritual extension.” the abilities of kaido are virtually limitless, and while ranging from simple hat tricks to world changing occurrences, there are physical limitations to a kaido user. it is, essentially, magic and stretches as far as the user’s imagination. the technology of the time has not officially classed the ranges of kaido, but recognizes trends in its most common usage:

extended aid to everyday tasks ( cooking, farming, cleaning, domestic tasks, basic telekinesis )

monitoring & communication / military coordination

leisurely uses ( visual, entertainment, hobby )

medicinal

military/strategic/protection purposes ( teleportation - can be restricted by basic barriers )

     kaido usage also varies in difficulty and strength, with the simplest tasks being able to be performed by a solitary user with little energy consumption, to the most difficult, high-scale operations requiring multiple “channels” ( users ) and a significant investment of energy, knowledge, and/or ritual. barrier creation, large area of effects, and high-scale military functions are examples of these.

     as with any form of ability, the potential for kaido abuse is extremely prominent, and presents a worldwide problem. kaido is wide open for exploitation, and it has certainly been done. black kaido describes a range of taboo practices, which include killing, false human creation,  human manipulation and torture. the practice of black kaido damages the user’s soul, eventually destroying it, or crippling their body and mind. not only does it stain the soul black, but it also causes massive physical consequences, such as pain, illness, or mental instability. if black kaido does not completely destroy the body and soul, the body decays, the mind becomes corrupt. such beings are referred to as The Cripples.

     THE SOLARI KNIGHTS, so named for their outstanding skills and gleaming reputation across silwynd, are first and foremost sebyl’s go-to members of the lightwing court. they are renowned as model authoritative figures, and hand-selected by the lightwing ruler.

     THE NUMBER OF knights is constant, being that the court will always have exactly 8 knights to the table. the number is symbolic, signifying harmony and balance. the semblance of the infinity symbol is also significant, as the solari knights will serve the lightwing past, present, and future.

     EACH POSITION OF knight also holds a trope of significance, and are selected based on those tropes as follows:

wisdom

strength

perseverance

fidelity

courage

eccentricity

compassion

leadership

     A CEREMONY IS held to knight each candidate which passes the criteria for each trope, and the ruler imprints the trope within their soul through ritual of kaido.

Arcroft:

      Arcroft: a vast land full of prosperity and opportunity. It laid home to a considerable quantity of the world’s most notable political leaders, monarchy, and magical beings. It heeded the highest amount of kaido bearing humans, and was beginning to introduce a new race of rulers. Arcroft was the northern-most continent, but large enough that it bore many climates and regions, inland and ocean-side. Silwynd, being Arcroft’s largest country, encompassed a northern mountain area, in which the legendary Lightwing Castle lay nestled in its valley between a thriving shore-side community, a contoured country plain, and a vast spread of desert land. The eastern countries were mostly much smaller than the esteemed Silwynd, but each of them played their part in the longevity and flourish of their continent.

      As far east and far north as was possible to travel, there was an area the size of a small region that remained unclaimed by any borders, but by one man alone. High Commander Mycan, King of all Arcroft, capitalized on the formation of a brand new continent hundreds of years ago, and built his enormous, yet rather foreboding castle deep within the mountains that separated it from the neighboring continent. It was often concealed by shadow, and certainly not in any path of the naked eye. Only those who were granted previous information of King’s Castle’s location would be able to travel there and succeed in reaching its gates.

      Silwynd's subsidary regions, Oceana to the west, Templan and Salsan to the east, and Dobra and Nikron to the south, were all essential cogs in ensuring Silwynd continued to succeed. Oceana, as appropriately named for its community which thrived on the ocean's edge, was a merry region, always full of to-do and bustling with trade and business from across the country. Templan and Salsan were close sister regions, though on the other side of Silwynd from Oceana. These regions were where most of the country's valuable resources and minerals were harvested, for lush desert lands such as theirs held plentiful mysteries under their soils. Dobra and Nikron, the southern most regions of Silwynd, were the two regions that struggled the most. The southern atmospheres were not always kind to them, and they were out of the way of the most popular trade routes. Sebyl did everything in her power to keep them stable, but little could be done against regions who had no desire to help themselves, nor remain under the jurisdiction of Silwynd.

( sᴇʙʏʟ sᴇɴᴀᴘʜɪʟɪᴀ ʙᴀʀʏᴛʜᴀ ʟɪɢʜᴛᴡɪɴɢ )

          ---- is, by first and foremost, birth, passage, and obligation, queen of silwynd. raised for a tragically short 13 years of her life by doting parents, sebyl knew not of how to rule a country when the throne was abruptly forced upon her at a young age. after a horrendous "accident" which left both elias and genevia lightwing dead, and a young sebyl blind from trauma, she took reign of the country in their stead.

          with the guidance and care of her court, the queen, who showed superior intelligence and outstanding skill in kaido bearing,slowly grew into her role as ruler. she did so with delicacy, allusiveness, and mystery, earning herself the title of "the ethereal queen." her work was done, for the most part, within the safety of lightwing castle's walls, and rarely did she did show her face to the general public; therefore, a rift had formed amongst her people. there were those who devoted their complete faith and admiration in her doings, while others didn't even believe she existed at all.

          sebyl was a child born into war, and would not see the end of it unless brought by her own hands. the country of silwynd was constantly at a stalemate, teetering on the edge of another battle and unreachable peace. sebyl alone was left to defend that peace with all the conviction her spirit could muster. 

          among the monarchy of arcroft continent, many of those in reign were blessed with a rare gift called kaido. it was a supernatural extension of the user's spirit, akin to what was commonly referred to as magic. sebyl relied upon her expertly refined kaido to replace the sight that was robbed from her when she was 13. though she will likely never see fully again, she has formulated methods with which to apply her kaido and thus increase her independence, such as increased hearing and scent, energy figures, and detection of movement from air flow. it was not an uncommon sight to find the queen standing stock still with the palms of her hands hovering above her skirts in the middle of a deathly silent room as she formulated her plans.
