Been getting back into a writing / interacting mood, so tomorrow after I finish some paperwork I’ll be doing some long awaited replies, starters, and starter calls. [And hopefully updating my theme.]
Sorry for being absent. With school ending and money problems I've sorta been - not in the roleplay feeling. BUT I will not be dropping Norman, so sorry for everyone having to deal with how slow I am; i’ll do a lot of replys asap.
Decided to do a little catching up!! By that I mean I went through and found who i know i owe (Not including the 5 starters I need to do)
ofcryptozoology, wiishfulheart, chosemercy, msgendered, mysticseer, filofrosine.tumblr.com,
Please alert me if I missed you!!
“R-Really?” Morty only blinked in reply at first, involuntarily gasping at the new information. “I would have thought- I-I dunno, I feel like that’s something people would be excited about, y’know? I-I mean you always have people lining up to see fortune tellers at the circus a-and junk like that…” He paused for a moment, realising that what had just escaped his mouth might be taken as offensive if he didn’t further explain himself.
“A-and what you do is actually real. That’s like- That’d be like knowing a super hero and not wanting to be friends with him, which is- I don’t know, that’s crazy, right? I mean, who wouldn’t wanna hang out with Superman? And s-sure, you might have to deal with- with Lex Luthor trying to do crazy stuff every once in a while, but it’d still be pretty cool.” He paused again after his long-winded explanation, a bit of apathy slipping into his expression
“I-I guess I can kinda get it, though. I-I never really got along with people at school. I was always getting bullied for not being as smart as anyone else, a-and even now, I-I think my classmates like my grampa more than they actually like me.”
Norman had never really had anyone lay out how odd it really was that people turned away from him... And even if Morty compared him to con-artists, and superheroes - it was... Very touching. The medium cleared his throat, a minor catch in his voice at the touching words; “P-People sort of stray from what they don’t understand... Adults - like physics and fortune tellers because they don’t really live in that life outside of their work.” He’d said it a thousand times, as if he understood it... In reality he wished everyone was like Morty - understanding, and even a little dorky with his comic comparisons. “ Honestly... I don’t understand it - I stop my town from being destroyed... I hope some families get final words of their lost family and friends and yet. They still chose to call me a freak... ”
Those final words - left him silent. Norman never had to compete, not really. But with the idea that this kid had to compete for the approval of other from his own grandfather - that wasn’t something that sat well with him... “ Hey - um, before we go to your house, what do you say about going and getting something to eat? My treat. ”
“Ha, god knows how long since I actually could get a perfect sleep. I mean, it’s kinda hard to get sleep around here. Don’t think we’ve met before. Name’s Drake, Drake Conningway. I know; weird name, m’ I right?”
Norman couldn’t help but give a lighthearted laugh, when it came to name there was no one better to get the whole ‘weird’ aspect. “ Norman Babcock, town freak. Nice to meet you Drake. ”
Eyes were heavy, and his head was beginning to be much, much harder to keep up. Timmy had been trying to keep awake, but his GodParents were napping in his bag (as two pencils), and even if a quick wave of the wand would’ve gotten them home sooner, he didn’t want to bother them today. They’d done a lot of wishing, and he knew better than to take complete advantage of them after doing so much.
He really was only on the bus to kill time, as he was getting sorta tired, and figured by the time they got to the last stop, he’d get up and wake up his GodParents. After all, he couldn’t take a bus all the way back home to Dimmsdale. California and Massachusetts were very far away from each other. Magic was what got him here so quick, not public transportation.
However, sleepiness was getting to him, and his head started to lean on the person next to him’s shoulder, and he immediately shot up when he realized what he was doing.
░ 🌟 ❝ Sorry!Sorry. …Long day, y’know? Hehe.. ❞

Norman was a student at a Massachusetts school; so he was able to ride the bus at any given time, for as long as he wanted to. With a little music in his ears, and a window seat it was a very nice escape from his daily life. Leaning his head against the window he himself had been dozing off a small bit. He wouldn’t be able to sleep on the bus; like he would be unable to sleep easily as he did constantly. But resting his imperfect eyes was a nice change... Though the boys sudden apology startled him to full awareness, sleep nulled confusion taking a good while to register the younger of the two had actually spoken... Boy, Norman was off his game today. “ Everyday honestly... You look pretty tired honestly. ”
“ Man, and I thought I showed how tired I was the most around here. How long has it been since you slept? ”
so he wasn’t the only human here… the other seemed real enough. he was having trouble formulating a reaction – he’d only known himself, testing, and the mechanical voice that punctuated each test. surely he should have expected this. test data from just one subject reveals very little, so there’d have to be others… but wouldn’t their interaction affect the variables? “ – I’m dipper. uhh, were we SUPPOSED to find each other? “
How long had the boy been out of cryogenic storage? Had this fellow child not learned what she did? Oh boy... He was sure in for some fun times with dealing with GLaDOS. “ She doesn’t make mistakes, us working together was planned... And will probably end with one of us dying... ” Lifting the device, eyes scanned the added portion of the room; which now made his test much more complicated - as well as deadly... “ I need a portal up there. ”
“ Nice to meet you, Mister Babcock! I’m Jason Funderberker! ” There was no chance of missing the other’s obviously lowered spirits, not when his posture rang DOWNCAST && a sigh had been added before his speech. A small frown tugged at him, involuntary but out of sympathy, a feature to be fixed because he was set on cheering this new friend up now, however he possible could. “ So are you new here? Is that why you’re so sad? ”
“ I talk to the dead. No one really likes the town freak; no matter what town it is. ” Norman stated rather bluntly; Jason seemed okay enough - but in the end, not worth waiting to hide the facts. “ Blithe; not the greatest place to spend twelve years of your life - and I guess it sorta makes you defensive... Sorry Jason... ”
Like for a starter
❛ a worldwide top-secret organization of highly trained kids fighting against adult tyranny and promoting kid rights. —i’m surprised you haven’t heard word of us. we ARE pretty famous after all. ❜
“ Sadly when you’re kinda forced to help DEAD adults and most kids don’t like you word of a cool sounding organization doesn’t come easy... So - how does it work? How does a kid get into it? ”
there’s a whole pile of them in the mystery shack, sitting mostly untouched by the tourists in favour of some of the FLASHIER souvenirs the shop has to offer. he’s okay with this. it may just be a cheap cap, but he likes to think he’s made it his own. “ – thanks !! I mean, it’s nothing special, especially since my other hat was… well, it went missing, but at least this one gets the job done. the job of, ahh, being a hat. “
The boy gave a small; happy, laugh. The employee was excitable; a night trait honestly. Letting his eyes wonder from the boys hat, he simply listened till he was finished. “ Did you lose it in a pile of cloths or something? or let me guess some rude bull man gave you a run for your money and you left it behind? ”
Normans second guess was simply a joke, the rumor in the woods of the large Manotaurs annoying smaller groups of beings was rare; and no human would really have heard of them by any means.
“ you are a bit… young. to be out alone, are you not? ”
“ I - Yeah... I’m just kind of lost... ”
His eyes lit up a bit at the other’s reply, genuinely excited at the idea of having someone who could talk to ghosts actually come over to his house of all places. It’d be just like one of those ghost hunter shows, except with this it’d probably be easier to get actual proof.
”R-Really? I mean, I-I kinda thought- I dunno, I guess I assumed you’d be super busy. Like the ghost busters, y’know? They’re always- a-always runnin’ around catching ghosts for people, a-and they always looked like- Th-They’d probably be hard to book.” He realised that he was beginning to ramble off again and rubbed idly at the back of his neck, offering the other boy a timid smile before continuing on.
”B-But yeah, if- I-If you wouldn’t mind coming over to check things out, th-that’d be really cool. M-My parents would probably be happy to see me hanging around someone closer to my age for once, anyway…”
The young boy swung his arms as he shifted his stance, the older teen seemed - well; nice, but any parent liking HIM? Norman was the town freak who could see ghosts - that was sort of all anyone knew him for...
He took a minute to reply; “Eh, not really. No one really likes talking to the town Medium and all. I also - can’t capture the ghost if you have one.” Morty’s whole rambling was sort of nice, “If there is one though! I-I could you know - try and ask ‘em to leave you alone though!” Good going Norman; sounding like a little doofus. “I’d uh, be alright with that, be kind of a nice change to staying home every after noon -- heh.” His lips flicked into a small happy smile at the idea, sure - it would only be one day, but still he could go home later that day and tell his dad with pride he was at a classmates house!
a voice. it echoed through the chamber, a reverberation so unfamiliar and surprisingly welcome in the sterile hell he’d known all his life. it was warm and so full of emotion. he can feel his stomach leap with excitement at the idea of talking to somebody made of flesh and blood, though it isn’t long before his natural paranoia takes over and he’s on his guard. “ where did you come from ?? “
“Chamber 53 - extended relaxation a little before that...”
The minor paranoia finally hit the young medium; he was unsure if the boy before him was a human - or simply some form of emotional response test... Taking in a small breath he jumped from the tall ledge; long fall boots absorbing the energy and allowing him to stand and keep an eye on the other. “ I’m Norman. And you are..? ”
Falling so slow ; like fragile tiny shells… drifting in the wind.
