“Maybe there’s a way to escape that... That power is more than a weapon for killing... You should think about what you want to do over what they expect you. Um...” His glowing naivity, was that a good or bad trait of his? Legoshi always wanted the best.

“Do you want to get something to eat? Chips are alright, but you should be eating more even when you’re small...” Did he sound like a father? This wasn’t the first time-

“I am much a wolf as I am a sheep. My desire for either side of whatever food I want changes….but no, I do not eat those targeted. I simply track and shake down but never commit such act.”

Although, she was very sure that the wild dog Siblings or the wolf siblings were allowed to indulge in that kind of obscenity.

Her peers seemed to get away with a lot of things these days.

“You’d be surprised if you saw the kinds of hit lists public figures have….aside from darker matter, me and others have been utilized for more kinder matters but that’s ever rarely. Once trained to kill, forever wired like that.”

“That’s a relief to hear...” She didn’t eat meat like that, could he take her word for it? She didn’t appear like the other ‘patients’ he was tasked to deal with, he wanted to believe her. “I suppose if they want you to attack and kill for them, then it makes sense they’d make you a like a wolf...”

The power and grace of killing, all of that was woven into the natural artistry of the wolf body, as was true for many carnivores... Yet, he believed that fatal beauty could be utilized for much more now...

“I don’t agree. Do you enjoy killing...? Or is it only because they tell you to? As long as you have a conscious, I think you can cut that wiring...”

She was desensitized to everything as a child. One loss or many wouldn’t hurt her. A grisly sight would, at minimum, bring her a feeling of being inconvenienced but her sentiments remained far.

“I guess I’m supposed to say upset, right? I wouldn’t know. I can mimic but I can’t feel as much as I did when I was small.”

“But why weaponize you...” Legoshi didn’t get it. Using a herbivore like that? For what, to demonize them? Equality? Some sick desire? He couldn’t say, but the thought was unsettling...

“It doesn’t matter to me what you’re ‘supposed’ to say... It’s important what you’re really feeling. But if that feeling isn’t much at all...”

“...Do... eat the people you attack?”

“You could say that, yes. They reworked my anatomy….my mind set…they changed me entirely. There were others like me but I suppose they chose me specifically at the time.”

She remembered everything like yesterday and every so often they checked her up when they got to it. To make sure she was ‘up to date with everything’ they told her.

“To make it easy for you, me and others are the awful secret of important people because they went around making monsters and all that out of kids that are still written up as missing or cold cases by cops….it’s complicated to explain.”

Monsters...? But why? Weren’t there enough issues with carnivores who lost control to be making monsters out of herbivores? He didn’t really understand why or how... “That’s...”

What could he do about something like that? If there was a group of politicians kidnapping small animals to do this... then she could be in danger too... and that’s exactly what he didn’t want! First things first-

“...but... are you okay?”

“Those in position of power will go far and wide to get what they want. Even if they have to steal and modify and train others to specialize in it. I find that politicians tend to be more involved in these matters.”

Cryptic…..and concerning. One had to wonder what that meant.

He... wasn’t really getting any answers... Wait- why was he even asking for answers? He always ends up doing this, sniffing around for those succulent details... Okay, well, he was learning a little... But someone as straightforward as him couldn’t help but get frustrated when he was met with riddles.

“Politicians, huh...” Admittedly, he didn’t think that much about politics or the animals up there. Legoshi always had his eyes on the immediate surroundings, and what was happening around him and those he knew. Was it time to start looking further? Not exactly, he still wasn’t very interested in politics... unless they really affected...

“I think... some of the most powerful people tend to be the loneliest. So you were, uh... modified? Is that it?”

“My work simply does not allow for the common audience to know I or others like me exist. Not unless it made them appear favorable in some way.”

She explained simply, leaning back into the fluff of her hair. Greed was a common sentiment for everyone, but the powerful always seemed to be the greediest of all in some way.

“Your work...?” He had to wonder what kind of work someone like her would be involved with, with her sounding so shady... She was all very casual about it. “I don’t know if I should be asking... but what is your work?”

Who did she work for? Did it have to do with the Black Market? He was too curious now, if only if it was because he didn’t want anyone to end up hurt. He always found ways to involve himself with some danger...

“You can ask questions. You’re allowed to….Just do not inform anyone of having seen or spoken to me. Understand?” It was for safety reason. His and her owns.

“It is curious... but I won’t bother you with it.” It was enough that she trusted him with this, wasn’t it? He was glad he was someone small animals could trust. Although, she wasn’t the average herbivore, if she could be called one at all... That’s fine, he was a weird wolf, too.

“I won’t tell anyone about those, but... what’s wrong with people knowing I’ve seen or talked to you? Are there others after you?”
