Depression SUCKS.
“Bucky got custody of Joaquin!”
Joaquín is a grown man in his thirties.
Also if Joaquin was ever asked to choose, he’d choose Sam, because Sam is his hero. He hasn’t shown any interest in Bucky at all. Fucking hell.
I will never be over how much trying to brand the Thunderbolts as the ""New Avengers"" diminishes and dilutes the brand itself. I don't care that the comics have 'New', 'West Coast', 'Dark', and 'Young' Avenger teams. That's decades of different timelines, universes, runs with different creators. It's not the same as one consistent, continuous universe like the MCU was supposed to be.
Insofar as the MCU is concerned, there is functionally no difference in perception between the terms "New Avengers" and "new Avengers".
There are positioned through narrative (mess) and by marketing as a replacement for The Avengers of Phases 1–3. They are positioned by narrative and by marketing as a (whiter) alternative, a (whiter) opposition, to the (notably diverse) Avengers we were promised and were building through Phases 4 and 5.
The concept of multiple teams being "[blank] Avengers" in the comics does not carry weight in the MCU. A multi billionare dollar film franchise, cannot support the weight of multiple competing Avengers-branded teams. Comics are still niche by comparison, and infinitely cheaper and less time intensive, and thus disposable. They can afford to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. A Hollywood franchise cannot.
So to throw a diverse team of heroes and stories out the window, for a cheap and desperate marketing ploy to try and elevate the Thunderbolts from what they are (mercenaries, terrorists, a war criminal, a child trafficker... ), reeks of racism, and of sexism, and of pandering to the worst subset of comics fandom.
And, by the way, y’all are all “mad” at Steve Rogers for the wrong reasons and your posts come off performative as hell, so leave Sam out of them. Your “anger” towards Steve has nothing to do with Sam, and everything to do with a fanon ship between two white men, who hadn’t been close since before WW2, and were never going to be together romantically on screen, and had never given any indication that there was anything romantic between them. Y’all have been obtuse for years, whining about a ship that was only ever canon in your heads, and that’s certainly your prerogative, but you need to leave Sam’s Black ass out of it for real. Please and thank you. Your posts are ridiculous at best. Sam does have a reason to be upset with Steve, but y’all never mention it. You just cry about Steve leaving Bucky and going back to be with Peggy, you know, the canonical love of his life, and then throw Sam’s name in it for brownie points or something, and it’s nauseating. Y’all are nauseating. And you can all go to hell.
MCU Steve and Bucky were never codependent, even in the past, and in the present day they are so not codependent that it’s laughable to hear people claim it. Steve knew Bucky was alive after TWS and went right on about his business being an Avenger, while his friend Sam, who didn’t know Bucky, went looking for him during his FREE TIME, not even all day day everyday, but when he could lol. Then, after CW, Steve dropped Bucky off in Wakanda and said deuces, and once again went on about his business. Y’all act like Steve was in Bucky’s space and face since the moment he found out he was still alive and he simply was not. They were besties in their youth, and Steve certainly didn’t want Bucky to be out in the cold suffering once he knew he was still kicking, but he was not obsessed with Bucky or attached to his hip. In the modern day, Steve was doing his own thing and Bucky was doing his own thing, and that’s okay to admit. As a matter of fact, y’all sound silly when you won’t admit it.
Bloggers of color: Talking about, venting, or bringing up racism in a community and how bad it is
White Tumblr users: Ah yeah but only if its ACTUALLY racism going on, you shouldn't call out something unless its ACTUALLY racist, you could insight harssment, sometimes everything is made about race when it shouldn't be ya know, you see my friend gets harassed online for no reason beacuse of this, if something ACTUALLY racist is happening sure call it out but most of the time-
I saw more fourth of July posts referring to John as Captain America so I'm gonna vent some more.
Listen, when tfatws came out and people were posting something along the lines of "John Walker represents what America is, Sam Wilson represents what America could be" I was into it.
But now that John's still around I still see people trying to incorporate him into the like Captain America mythos with Sam and Steve and like...no. He was Cap for like five minutes in tfatws, then he showed why he was a bad choice and Sam took his rightful place.
John wasn't a main character in tfatws. He was an antagonist, whose purpose was to serve as a foil to Sam and Bucky. Now that he's not Cap, he really has no part in the Cap legacy like Sam. John's time having anything to do with Captain America is over, hell even tfatws established that by renaming him US Agent.
I don't think John has anything to do with Sam's story anymore, he was a temporary antagonist who was involved in Sam's journey to becoming Cap. But that's it. When I see all this analysis of Sam and John with regards to the present MCU it just feels odd, like if you tried to incorporate Brock Rumlow into Sam's character in the current MCU because they fought in ca:tws.
And yes, Thunderbolts definitely muddied the waters by constantly referring to Walker as Captain America (even with mocking modifiers, the title was still being associated with John instead of Sam). I think that has definitely contributed to this mess. But that movie didn't understand any of its characters, John especially.
Basically, I hate how John has stuck around with regards to discussions of Captain America when his role was meant to only be significant for a short period of Sam's story. At this rate, we might as well throw in Gilmore Hodge, the bully in ca:tfa who was the first pick for the super soldier serum, into the list of Captain Americas. Since he basically fills the same role as John: guy who proves that he shouldn't be Cap.
TL;DR John Walker is not Captain America. His time as Cap existed to further Sam's story, and it is completely over now. I see people still calling John Captain America and I have to assume they didn't understand the very straightforward story of tfatws.
Being asexual and racist is embarassing as fuck. Being racist at all is obviously embarassing as fuck but the amount of racism and especially antiblackness i have been seeing from asexuals recently is obscene.
One of the only asexual activists is Yasmin Benoit, a Black woman. She has raised so much awareness for the community. She was the first asexual person to lead Pride in London, she started the #thisiswhatasexuallookslike movement and is THE leading voice for the community.
And you all will celebrate international asexuality day on April 6th but we wouldn't even have that if she hadn't cofounded it.
Edit: why are you all too scared to repost this. Cmon. Be vocal about being against racism
No hate to OP, there are other Black asexual activists besides Yasmin Benoit.

Some of the ones I've accumulated
I have no idea what the plot of Spider-Man Brand New Day is, but can the 'Watchtower' 🤮 be destroyed as collateral damage? The MCU loves destroying cities. C'mon do it do it do it!
I'll even give you my comet idea for free. 🤣😂🤣
C'mon Peter. I know you're all lowkey, street level again but surely you can call in the last of those drones thingies. It's a public service!
beefy natasha romanoff 😵💫 happy pride!
I know this is probably bullshit. But like...
Don't make me hope! 😭😭😭
white europeans love to pretend like the united states and europe aren’t two cheeks of the same ass
Listen, nobody who's ever opened a history book says we didn't do that shit first. Pick an atrocity and chances are there was a time europeans did it on mass to someone for the sake of profit. The difference, is that we have for the most part put that behind us, while the US is just sinking deeper and deeper into it. We're not perfect, and we were a lot worse in the past. But it has been a while since we were the problem
so the racism, antiblackness, islamophobia, and hatred for immigrants just disappeared huh
"its been a while since we were the problem" someone Black was murdered by police violence in Ireland last month
i admit i am getting wary whenever people vaguepost about a fandom being 'full of drama' because a lot of people seem to use 'drama' as a synonym for like. discussions of bigotry and bias in media. which is so very much not the same thing and it hurts my head to see it conflated with shipping wars and headcanon discourse.
Every time someone says "I don't pay attention to fandom drama" and the "drama" is a Black or brown person getting dogpiled for wanted to be treated with respect. But then turn around and go "I didn't know that this sort of thing was happening!" Well you didn't care to look, either 😬
Remember when Lil Nas X beautifully explored his sexuality, seduced and killed the devil to the banger of all time, and instead of cheering on this openly gay and proud Black artist for his artistry and fighting back against respectability politics, suddenly said respectability politics was all the Queerest Place on the Internet cared about? Hm. Wonder what happened there.
Anyway I miss him and hope he's doing better with his mental health 🙏🏾
