     “ Every single muscle in my body hurts, ” Johanna complains while she stretches her arms towards the short ceiling of their shared compartment with a small wince. In a way, it’s Katniss’ fault. She was the one who wanted her to train when Johanna was perfectly fine with her morphling-hazed, kind of pointless existence in Thirteen.

the johanna mason she’d met in the elevator had been a fearless and wild creature. katniss wondered if johanna felt robbed or if being stolen was more subtle, like the fear she flirted with daily. the thought pulls katniss’s heart down below her knees. she knows she’s not blameless; all the people who hurt her have come after the ones she loves, and who set them on their scent ? but rage makes her shoulders tremble, and a scream rises in her throat. she swallows it down into a clipped laugh ( not a real one; she doesn’t remember the last time she laughed and MEANT it ). “ that’s how you know it’s working. ”

This has been on my mind for long but I’m gonna do this - please reblog this if you’re comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean “met at the grocery store two weeks ago” or “have a common friend”, but rather stuff like “have been best friends since kindergrden”, “go for a beer every friday”, “friends with benefits”, “dated in highschool”, “hate each other’s guts because -insert reason-”  etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction
