Also at that anon: I dropped IB because I couldn't handle dealing with my anxiety and depression while attempting the diploma. If they (or anyone else dealing with mental illness and IB) need someone to talk to, I'm here, and I understand :)
i have a pretty long story-- but to sum up my problem: i've been accepted into ib and ap and i don't know where to go? i've sort of always accepted that i'm going to ib but now that i feel like ap might be the better decision? i don't know if ib will be worth it because i might not be able to get decent marks... i'm an okay student now (around a 95% average?) but also a serial procrastinator and i don't know which is more "worth it" in the future or if i'll be able to handle ib... any advice?
I’m unsure what AP entails, as I’m from the UK, but the main advantages of IB are that it’s an international qualification, and there’s a wide breadth of subjects that you are required to study. If AP is a better (and easier) choice for leading you to where you want to be (university, job etc), maybe for that, but it’s hard for me to say from my stand point. I think IB is pretty difficult, and it’s something that can be a real test. Everyone procrastinates but it you can put the effort in when you really need it, you should be able to cope. Might be a silly idea but you could do a pro/cons list for each thing and look at what you need for your future and look at it very logically.

To the suicidal anon: I have depression, an eating disorder and I attempted suicide twice in IB. I graduated last year, and just want to share this. I was placed in suicide watch twice and so I was out of school. But I was still doing my IAs and work in the hospital. Its not ideal, cause you do really want a break from sch, but it does help a little as you're still getting work done. But nonetheless know that Ur mental health is priority and I would recommend just dropping IB if it's too much
Not really a question, but I can't think of anywhere else to put this. IB is quite possibly killing me. I've been getting more and more suicidal and anxiety ridden as I've progressed through the year. I had a mental breakdown in the middle of my English IB oral and ran classroom screaming and crying. Everyone in my class thinks I can power through, that I'm just not trying hard enough. Sorry, I can't take this anymore. I'm leaving IB. I'm going to end up killing myself if I don't.

If you are feeling this way, it would be advisable that you take some time out. I’m not sure if this is possible during IB but I know someone at university who has similar anxieties and was able to return the next academic year. I think it’s something worth discussing with your tutors or someone at your school. I think they would be sympathetic. If this isn’t possible, and you would have to quit IB completely, then it may be your only option, as it doesn’t seem wise to continue if it’s stressing you out so much. You may be able to consider other options in your education but since I don’t know much about the education system where you are, it’s something you would have to research.

Okay so I've just got my results back for my 2nd biology exam this year and I am still sitting at a 3. For me, as someone who is used to achieving much higher marks, this came as a shock the first time but this time it feels a lot worse because I thought I had improved. I spent so much more time studying bio and it's just feels quite disappointing. Any tips for getting better at biology?
I used the Oxford study guide and got a 7. 10/10 highly recommended.

Only place I’ve come across IB eBooks is on iTunes U and the iTunes book store, but I’m unsure if it’s available where you are (I’m in the UK).

Hey I just wanted to ask if there is a big difference betweeen a subject on a standard and a subject on a higher level.
From what I’ve been told, in the UK, SL is comparable to AS level but slightly more higher level, and HL is comparable to a A level. I think the difference can vary between subjects. They usually require more work and more content to learn. Depends on your view of things. For instance, I didn’t feel that SL Visual Arts to HL Visual Art was a significant jump, as it required a few more final pieces to be created. In HL Maths, there was a extra module to learn as well as further content in addition to the core topics.
I think if you are already strong in the subject, it may not feel like a big difference but I wouldn’t recommend doing a subject as HL unless it’s necessary.

Hi! Thank you for your blog which is amazing! Please excuse my English as it is not my first language! I'm a student in IB from Switzerland and I need help for my biology HL IA :( I have to find a subject for it and I have really no idea... I tried to find some ideas on the Internet but everything seems too complicated or too simple... Do you have any!? It would be really appreciated!
All the IAs have changed from 2016 onwards and I really don’t know what they’re supposed to be like, but maybe one of our followers could help?

So I've been forced into Mathematics HL and honestly I suck at math, do you have any tips for me to succeed in Maths HL? I'm just very anxious and I don't want to fail this class...
The only advice in revision and practice but I know from experience that HL Maths is hardcore. Don’t be afraid to ask for more help from your tutor. I’m curious of why you have to take HL Maths, is there no way to take SL or Maths Studies?
MYP but I don't care. I failed my personal project. I'm not getting the MYP sash. I don't see the point of continuing on with being alive because I've failed everyone who's ever meant anything to me. I'm a disappointment to everyone. I need a reason to live.
MYP is only a small part of your life. Failing your personal project isn’t the end of the world. Don’t put too much weight on the opinion of others because what you do is alway done for yourself. You study to improve yourself and not to benefit other people. You shouldn’t put too much of your value on how other people view you.
I can’t say I know much about the MYP but will you still have something to show for your studies? E.g. individual subject certificates. Are you able to retake it? If things don’t go as planned, there are always the options. When something like this happens, it’s best to not get swallowed up in the consequences but to think of a solution or alternative plan. You don’t get a job you apply for? You look for another job. You don’t get the grade to get into the course you want? You resit, or look for another course etc. Think of life not as one straight path, on which any barrier will stop you moving forward, but more like city streets. If there’s a barrier, there’s alway a alternative path.

Does going to the gym count as CAS hours? Do the activities have to be in groups? I don't know what to do for my Action hours, do you have any suggestions?
Yes, it does count as long as you have a trainer that isn't your parent. Doesn't have to be in groups.
i downloaded iTunes U and none of the textbooks that are shown in your screenshot aren't there :/
How odd. They're still on iTunes, in the Featured section. I'm in the UK, so maybe it's not available where you are. Have you tried searching for any IB material on iTunes U?
I have a question about the creative hours for CAS. Could I take up an online html course? Like would that count? I also realise that it would be really hard to get a signature for this, so if it were possible, who could I have sign the hour off for me?
Only suggestion I can give would be a IT teacher at your school. Contact them about your situation and see if they are willing to help you. You could do a portfolio of your week to week progress in learning HTML and ask him to look it and sign off your CAS hours for you. Double check with your co-ordinator first to see if this is allowed.
