hello! i'm oliver/lotus, welcome to my page ^w^
more under the cut!
Edalyn arrives at the abandoned church, Remy in tow, just as dusk begins to tint the air with cool-toned shade.
"Yeesh, this place has definitely seen much better days... Looks like it got punched straight through by something." She looks around, surveying the surroundings for the others.
"Doesn't look like anyone's gone inside recently, so I'd reckon we got here first. Weird how often that's been happening for me recently..."
"Hey!" Celestina's voice is bright and clear. "Before we go on the job, guess what Oliver brought?" She was positively giddy. "Pie! Pie! Strawberry pie! Yayyyy." Looking at the pie, two out of eight slices are taken. "We shared some already. Two each total."
"Oh! Yeah yeah i brought pie for everyone!!"
He perked up as Celestina spoke to the others.
"I brought little plastic plates and tools you can use to eat if you want! Just hurry up cuz it's getting colder!"
He removes the objects from a hidden pocket in his sweater, displaying them near the pie slices.
"Ooooh, pie!" Remy takes a plate and fork before pausing. "Oh, by the way, what exactly is the job? Heh, obviously I can handle whatever's coming, but being informed never hurt anyone."
"Wh- oh, dang it, I never said, did I?"
Eda smacks her head, looking slightly sheepish. As she reaches for a plate though, excitement takes over both in face and voice.
"Well, Tenner says there're dinosaurs down under this church! We have to go down there and find an egg, somebody wants a real exotic omlette."
She starts bouncing slightly as she eats her slices of pie.
"Mm, oh wow, this is amazing pie, I haven't had anything this good in ages..."
"Really exotic. When you get your hands on the egg, no shaking it around! And if you break it, I will leave you to a pterosaur who will take you to its nest and munch away at your organs. It will be unpleasant. You won't like it. Don't break the fucking egg." Celestina takes another slice of pie, on the smaller side this time.
"Uh, y-yeah, sure, won't break it!" - He pauses - "Wait, if ostrich eggs are super resistant and hard to crack, wouldn't dinosaur eggs be even more resistant? Not saying that we shouldn't be careful, it's just that them breaking is probably the least of our worries, 'cuz, you know," - He lightly slams his fist on the table, exaggerating his expression - "THERE ARE FUCKING DINOSAURS UBDER THE CHURCH!!" - He didn't quite yell, but aggressively raised his tone in a more playful way, giggling mid speech. He does sound quite concerned however.
"..Anyway." - He grabs a strawberry that fell from inside the pie. "We're not gonna have to kill the dinosaur slash dinosaurs (emphasis on the s), right?"
Remy looks around at everyone, baffled. "Did. Did dinosaurs not go extinct? What? I mean I guess in another dimension, they could be not extinct. But. They're definitely extinct here. Dinosaurs. Under this church? What?"
Eda excitedly stamps her feet, squee-ing
"Journey to the Center of the Falls! Ohh, I'm gonna take so many notes down there..."
She roots around in her jacket, eventually pulling out a scrappy, hand-bound journal and a ballpoint pen. She flips through a few pages and tests the pen for a second before pocketing them again closer to the front.
"Well, I don't know 'bout y'all, but I'm ready ta head down whenever!"
"I'm done with my pie!" Celestina announced. "So we can go whenever★!" She turns to Oliver. "To answer you, assuming we don't royally fuck it up, we shouldn't need to kill one. Of course, we're going to royally fuck it up. Just watch."
He squints his eyes at Celestina in a confused response, pauses for a moment, and shrugs, softening his expression.
"Well. Guess i don't have anything to lose. Let's go royally fuck it up then." - He closes the pot containing the pie and stores it, along the plastic plates and forks. - "Just waiting for you on directions."
"Are we. Are we really going to ignore the fact that dinosaurs aren't extinct? Apparently? Hello? Dinosaurs. Under this church. Dinosaurs, plural. Multiple. Several dinosaurs. Under this church."
"I know, isn't it amazing?! I'm gonna love it down there I just know it!"
Eda pops up from where she'd been sitting, and rushes over to peer down through the hole in the floor.
"Just what are we gonna find down there..."
"Dinosaurs, I'd hope." With a sharp kick, Celestina broke some of the nearby floorboards, the wood falling into the abyss. Half a minute passes. Then a thunk and a screech of alarm (or quite possibly pain) by something as it hit the ground. "There we go! Now we can get down easier."
"Uhhhh." He stared awkwardly "I don't like that noise. But we're already here, so no backing down... i guess."
He pulled out the rope from his bag and handed it over to Celestina "We might need this to get down." He gestured to the hole.
Remy stands there, staring at everyone with a frankly baffled gaze.
Eda hardly notices the stare, bouncing on her feet. Eventually she gets too impatient to let Celestina finish securing the rope and starts clambering down the rock face.
"C'mon you slowpokes!"
Celestina peers over the floor boards as she finished tying up the rope, gauging the bottom. "It seems to be solid ground. No quicksand, or whatever other ground fucky shit."
With a satisfied nod, Celestina ignores the rope, instead jumping off to the ground. Her safe landing was denoted with a thud, or more like a clang, followed by her yelling. "Yup, it's fine to go down! I'll wait for you guys★!"
He follows by going down the rope in the... (Arguably) More efficient way of doing it? He grabs the rope tightly and releases it, falling, then grabbing the rope again, repeating the process until he reaches the bottom.
"Not as deep as i thought." He notes, patting Celestina on the back twice "When we get out of here, I'll make a whole lot of good stuff for us to eat!~" He pauses and looks to the side "Well, that is, if you agree to crash at my place for a while. Or if we get out alive. Terms and conditions..."
Edalyn arrives at the abandoned church, Remy in tow, just as dusk begins to tint the air with cool-toned shade.

Celestina had managed to track down Oliver's living quarters to one singular hotel. She had not bothered to track down the exact room. So, after knocking on nearly every door on your floor, she comes to yours, her arrival announced by the polite but firm rap rap rap at the door.
"GOIN'!! HOLD ON!!!" He shouts from across the house, not knowing what to expect and who will be at the door, and as he opens it-
He rubs his eyes, likely just now awaking from a nap;
"Sorry, what the Fuck are you doing in my house? And how'd you find my ad- Whatever. Want something to drink?"
"Water would be great, thank you! As for why I'm here, I've got a job for you. It has five dollars on the line! Also your life, probably. Are you in?"
"Oh yeah... That. Yeah I'm... I'm ready, let me just finish this real quick." You can probably tell what he was busy with from the delicious smell of baked goods coming from what was presumably his kitchen, as he walked over to said room and removed a pie from the oven, returning with a glass of water in hands.
"Come in! Just baked a pie, if you wanna have that before we go."
"Pie?!" Celestina brightened immediately. After accepting the water from Oliver and chugging it, she eagerly responds. "Yeah, I'd fucking love to have a slice with you. Do you wanna take the rest back to share?
"Ah, sure!" He slices the pie into 8 equal slices, taking out 2.
"Eat while it's fresh!" The slices reveal themselves to be delicious strawberry pie on the insides.
"Also, anything specific i should take with me for the job? I don't know how it is where we're going."
Celestina is eating as politely as possible while still scarfing it down, so it takes her a bit to get to answering. "We're going to make an omelette out of a dinosaur egg. Mayyybe take... Um... I dunno. Rope? I guess?"
"Uhuh, i see, pretty exquisite considering those have been extinct for... Millions of years. Yeah sure I'll grab rope."
He finished eating surprisingly fast and ran to his room, returning with pretty big roll of it.
"Don't ask where i got this, by the way. Also yeah i guess we can go now."
He then stores the other pie slices for the others.
"Yayyy, okay let's go go go I don't want to keep everyone waiting!" Celestina opens the door and beckons for Oliver to follow her.
"Alright!"
He tightens some of hus bandages and follows her.

When our Grand Investigator makes it to a clearing west of Funky Rat Rock, there is nothing but an old, beat up walkie talkie. It's one of those super bulky military ones, and it's positioned on a small pile of rocks with some convenient godrays spotlighting it.
Remy looks around, trying to spot any creatures of any sort hiding in the trees, but fails. He takes a deep breath, hyping herself up.
Okay. You can do this, Remy. It's just a walkie talkie! It's obviously not a SUPERNATURAL or HAUNTED walkie talkie, so everything should be fine! Just a normal, regular, nonhaunted walkie talkie. You gotta stay cool. C'mon, Remy. You're Gravity Falls' #1 Supernatural Investigator, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!
Tentatively, Remy shuffles forward. He reaches down, carefully picking up the walkie talkie with as little physical contact as possible, before quickly snatching it up. She presses the push-to-talk button, and lets out a (very) shaky, "Heh.. a walkie talkie. Are you scared to face my power?"
There is a conveniently timed breeze that blows through the clearing, and Remy can hear quiet, malicious laughter echo around him. The walkie talkie crackles to life in her hand, and there's a few moments of wheezing breath before a distorted voice comes through. "Good, good, you've made it... Foolish mortal, to so blindly heed the words of the most dangerous cryptid in town... No, I feel no fear for you, I simply-" there is the sound of a branch snapping and a very quiet "shoot, shoot-" "I simply needed the chance to observe you, to understand my new plaything..." The distorted voice begins to cackle, growing louder and echoing like the laughter before.
Remy looks around in a panic. "Show yourself.. or else you're the most uninteresting, boring, weakest cryptid ever," she says, slowly fishing out a switchblade from his mini backpack.
"HEY!!!" The breeze immediately dies completely, and the indignant shout can clearly be heard from above and behind. The walkie talkie crackles again, and a much less distorted voice comes through "You'll regret saying that." There's some cracking up above, and a small branch falls uncomfortably close to Remy's feet, and suddenly in drops the most feral girl she has ever seen. She rolls as she lands and pops to her feet, cane slung over her shoulder and a slightly manic grin on her face. "Well then, hey there Johnny G, nice ta meetcha face to face."
Remy takes a step back.
"You.... You are the cryptid that challenged me! Heh, you must be strong if you're contacting me, Gravity Falls' #1 supernatural investigator. But I'm so much stronger!" She points a thumb at herself. His grin, voice, and hands are visibly shaky.
"Oh, I'm plenty strong alright... Are you sure you're stronger?" Eda matches Remy's step, then takes another, swinging her cane in a lazy circle as she chuckles to herself.
"Ohhhh, Johnny, Johnny, Johnny G..." She pounds her cane into the ground and leans on it, grinning wildly "We're gonna have some fun, I think..."
He blinks. Then immediately breaks out into a sprint, running in a random direction.
"FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
She makes chase, laughing. "GET BACK HERE, JOHNNNYYYYYYY"
As Eda chases Remy, they find themselves going deeper and deeper into the forest. The atmosphere seems to shift, and things start to look more off. The shadow of the trees seem too long, the branches seemingly reaching out towards them as the bushes in the thickets snag at them to slow them down. The open space of the forest shrinks as the trees pull towards a central line, forcing the pair to traverse in one direction. Notably, the tips of the trees are charred and there are no other signs of life aside from the dying flora and the buzz of insects and the burning sun.
Remy's sprint slows down to a jog, then a walk, then finally standing in place. Her gaze is stuck to the strangeness of the forest around them. Something is so wrong about this.
"Hey.. hold on...."
He turns to Eda with an accusative glare in his eye. "You lured me here, didn't you?!"
"N-no, I didn't- You're the one who decided to run this way! Where... are we...?" Eda glances around nervously, and her monocle almost seems to flash for a moment, though it might've just caught the light weird.
Speaking of light, there's a glint of something from a few hundred feet away, though you can't see what caused it. The sun, once blindingly bright, seems to have dimmed, outshone by the mysterious construct. It has to be a construct, as the trees, once in perfect diagonals, now arch in an unnatural circle, as do the surrounding bushes. Trying to go back is useless, the flora seemingly barring you from fleeing. Nowhere to go but forwards, towards the light's source.
".....do we really have to keep walking?" Remy is figuratively shitting his pants. You can clearly tell that she does NOT want to keep walking.
"it, uh, I- I don't, um, uhhh...." The air of intimidating mystery Eda had managed to put together completely shatters, and she clings to her cane, brandishing it as a weapon to no-one in particular. "I think so..."
The trees in the back point towards you like swords, and you feel a vague pull towards the construct. You can't tell if it's a mental, or physical pull. Either way, the fact that conscious effort is required to keep yourselves from going forward is disturbing. To say the least.
Remy shuffles forward, one slow step at a time. He brandishes the switchblade he grabbed earlier.
"Welp." Eda sticks one leg straight out, letting the strange current drag her forward in a stiff, exaggerated march as she white-knuckles the battered pipe cane.
He would emerge from the dense darkness of the forest, intrigued by the contruct.
"Hey! C-Celestina, or whatever you're called! Are you there!? I-i brought the chips!"
He sounded nervous, as anyone would upon viewing the current events. His eyes dart around the place, looking for answers.
(Who are these people..?) He thought.
The construct is huge. It seems to swallow the forest whole, sucking up the weakest bushes into it. The inside of the metal ring swirls into things you physically cannot understand. Other worlds, beyond your own mind and body. Yet, it's almost a struggle to look away.
Fortunately, the portal shuts off with a clang of metal. "God FUCKING-- what the HELL was that." A figure emerges from behind the portal, leaning on a tree and holding her foot. "Fucking... My fucking TOE. God. OW." She does not seem to have noticed anyone.
Remy turns to Eda, then to the strangers standing in front of them.
"Um? Hello?? What the actual FUCK is that thing, by the way???" She slightly lowers the switchblade, staring up at the frame of the portal in shock and something akin to awe.
Eda simply crouches, frozen in a defensive position and staring at the now silent structure. The only evidence she isn't a statue is the monocle now freely swinging by its chain, having fallen out of place as her eyebrows shot up, as well as the faint whining pitch that emanates from her

"Fuck my stupid baka lifeeee..." The figure slowly trails off as she finally noticed the trio standing there. "Woahh, did not expect that many people. I only invited Oliver. Who's..." She casts him a sideways glance. "Going through it. Hey to you too. Anyways, he's invited on the grounds of destiny and fate. Who are you two? Whatever, you can introduce yourselves after I brag."
She leans on the metal ring as she speaks. "Soooo. I'm Celestina. Hi. And I've been. Sorta. Lying to the cops. Baaaasically, a few weeks ago, I was OUT of everything ever. Like money. A house. A stable job. Et cetera. As per usual. So I went lurking in the forest and fouuuuund..." Celestina slaps the metal ring. "This thang. A portal. I've been reconstructing and using it for a bit. For temp jobs. Yayyyyyy. Okay, your turns." She points at Remy and Eda. "Who're you?"
Remy slowly brings a hand up to point at Celestina. He doesn't address the more important details she mentioned, instead saying, "You... You....... You're the one who's been SLANDERING MY NAME!!! YOU CALLED ME LITLEO!!!"
In his defense, the whole portal thing is a lot to swallow. Why not focus on things she actually knows about, like Celestina calling him a litleo?
Eda blinks a few times, and stands into a more human pose with her cane tentatively planted on the ground. She grabs her monocle and starts rubbing it on her lapel as she looks around at everyone.
"Okay, I... don't understand what I just saw because that doesn't seem possible at all. But. Introductions? Well, I'm Eda, and the paranormal investigator extraordinaire over here is Johnny G." She nods at Remy.
"Ow, fuck."
He rubs his face with his hands and comes back to his senses.
"Sorry about that." - They mumbled quietly, before going forward to meet the others.
"Oh, we're doing introductions? I'm the Oliver guy in question, sorry about that earlier... I don't know what happened, i guess the brightness of that thing" - They pointed to the construct - "when it was still on did something to my eyes."
He shifts his focus to Edalyn, with a curious look
(Hey, i think i saw that girl somewhere around here, that bike-... Also, Johnny G? What a stupid name! That doesn't look like a Johnny G to me.)
"Johnny G is a dumb name. No wonder you're a Litleo gijinka. That's stupid. You're stupid. Especially cause most people's focus would be on the, uh," Celestina gestures vaguely around her. "Massive portal in the middle of the forest, but okay! As for you," She beings, addressing Eda. "I don't know how it works either. It just does! Which is good. Because I'm broke. Eeeemptyyyy wallet."
Celestina apparently did not care to answer anything else, as she promptly goes back behind the portal to resume working on it. Clangs of steel echo through the forest.
"LITLEO GIJINKA???? And Johnny G isn't even my name!!" Remy's expression turns from devastated to something much more smug. "I'm.. heh.... Gravity Falls' #1 supernatural investigator. You can call me Remy." She pauses, waiting for an applause or gasps of recognition.
"Wait, you have a name? Huh. Still calling you Johnny. Oh, can I have my walkie talkie back, by the way?"
She turns back towards Celestina. "So, ignoring the whole 'Litleo Gijinka' thing, cus I have no idea what nerd junk you're talking about, did you say something about temp jobs via this... thingamajig? How does that work?"
He desperately held back a burst of laughter as Remy's "epic monologue" ended and walked over to Celestina
"Here, i got these for you." - He said, as he handed the chips and soda to her
"So, uh, same question, what's up with that thing?"
Celestina accepts the food with a nod of thanks, opening the chips packet and tilting it so the open side faces everyone, presumably to share. "Usually the jobs are from one of those supernatural fucks. Who don't actually understand what can or can't be done on this planet. So into the portal I go! It's pretty simple stuff, actually."
"Also," she turns to Remy. "Your intro was shit. I've never heard of you in my life."
"You've heard of me. Everyone has heard of me ever. Literally everyone. You're just jealous because I'm so popular and everyone likes me."
Remy turns away from the chips with a huff, partly because he refuses to take anything from Celestina and partly because they're shrimp flavored.
"I literally did not know your name until just now."
"Wait, 'Supernatural'? So are you trying to tell me ghosts and stuff are real??? Ugh, seem's 14 isn't the only nutjob in town."
"Yeah I've... Never seen you before. Litleo gijinka." He giggled, then grabbed some chips.
"Also," - He'd turn to Celestina - "these jobs sound quite interesting, could you tell us some more about it? I kiiiinda need money."
"One at a time. I know the paparazzi loves me, but I can only answer things one at a time! Okay, to start with, you just saw a portal beyond comprehension. I don't think you can pretend that shit doesn't exist. And if you don't believe that the portal was beyond comprehension, then I'll turn it back on to see how well you can comprehend it. As for joooobsssssss..."
Celestine pauses, evidently to do some math. "The jobs are just whatever the guy asks for, whether it's an obscenely difficult coffee order or a coup for the gnomes. If you want to join, I'll raise the price by five bucks as your share."
"We'll get paid?" Remy blinks for a moment, before his face splits into a grin. "Heh... Well, those jobs are WAY too easy for someone like me. I stage coups for gnomes for fun. I wrestle with ghosts every single day. I'd rather spend my time doing something of more importance, but maybe I can consider......"
"Coups. For Gnomes. The little porcelain old men." Eda rustles around in her coat and pulls out a Shmebulok keychain. "These things." She rolls her eyes and tosses the tiny gnome over her shoulder.
"But if there's some weirdo willing to give us money, it's been a while since I've been able to afford decent food..."
"You ever tried stealing and selling stuff to a pawn shop? Gives pretty good money."
He'd pull a piece of a bike's exterior carcass
"Like this bike i took, which i will soon sell... Well, that's besides the point, doing jobs sounds like a pretty neat idea!"
"That's laaaaaaaaame. And a stable job. I don't take stable jobs. I go where the wind takes me. Or some shit. Anywayyyyssss, if you want to work for me then. Um." Celestina adjusts her bow, evidently to hide that she didn't know what she was fucking doing. For the most part, it worked. "Actually, I don't have any official hours. Just meet me here when the time feels right☆!"
She looks around to the general area, as well as the blocked off pathway. "If you want to leave, which you probably do, the exit is somewheeeeeere... thataway." You're not entirely convinced she didn't just pick a random direction to point in (or more accurately, give fingerguns at).
Eda finally pops her monocle back in front of her eye, and once again it almost seems to flash with a faint red glow. "Ehhh, close, but I feel like it's more that direction." She gestures a little to the left, and shrugs.
"But yeah, I'm gonna need some time to process all this, seeya I guess. Might take you up on that offer. And Olive or whatever your name was, that's not a half bad idea. I've actually got a couple bike parts too." She pulls out motorcycle headlight, the shining chrome sloppily covered with hand-painted fire decals. After admiring it for a few moments, she slips it back into one of myriad pockets and starts walking off.
"C'mon Johnny G, let's go."
"Huh. Those motorcycle parts really do remind me of that one time my bike got stolen piece-by-piece, then slowly put back together again! Kinda weird. And my name isn't Johnny G!!" He flips her hair. "Whatever. Heh. I guess I'll think about the job, since I know you're going to need my expertise."
"Oh this is yours?"
He throws a piece of the bike up to the air and catches it stylishly.
"Not anymore!"
They turn around and walk away, waving, presumably to Celestina on the way.
"I'll talk to ya about about the jobs later, I'm interested, gotta go now though." He shouted to her.
