Hi internet! I'm putting together this blog for archiving polls about intersex stuff, and hopefully also signal boosting active polls.

If a poll ends and the poll options distinguish intersex/extersex/perisex respondents, I will post a visual with intersex-only results. The spreadsheet I'm using to compile those results is here.

ADVICE ON MAKING POLLS:

Give perisex people MULTIPLE options to vote so they don't overwhelm the poll. Also because if you don't give them an option to vote, they may vote anyway because they are curious about the results.

For giving perisex people three options: birth month (Jan-Apr, Jun-Aug, Sep-Dec)

For giving them four options: birth month season (autumn, winter, spring, summer), don't worry about hemispheres the goal is just to get them to not vote for intersex options

For giving them five options: birth year's last digit (0-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9)

Give extersex (intersex questioning) people an option (or multiple!) to vote too.

You can tag this blog on a poll you put on your blog, and if I see it while it's still active, I'll reblog it! Head's up: I check Tumblr erratically so cannot guarantee I'll see it while it's active (sorry).

You can also submit a poll you want posted here! Guidelines:

It must be intersex related.

Remember there are a max of 12 options per poll, and 80 characters for each. If you go over, I'll either reword or just not bother.

You do not have to list off all options for me! You can just send me a question/theme and I can fill in the options.

If you do send poll options: a "see results" option or equivalent (e.g. "IDK" or "undecided") must be available.

If you want answers from only intersex people, you gotta provide options for perisex people to vote anyway.

There should be clear guidance (or poll options) for people who are questioning if they are intersex.

This is a question about cancer fear! For those unfamiliar, health care workers frequently use cancer risk as a reason to bully intersex folks (and their parents) into undergoing IGM. The result is that a lot of intersex folks grow up with "constant fears I'll get cancer".

In particular, intersex gonads are positioned as inherently cancerous, to push intersex folks/parents to agree to gonadectomy. What HCWs tend not explain is that all gonads pose cancer risk - testicular and ovarian cancers are very common in the perisex population, and there is no empirical evidence that intersex minors are going to develop cancer prior to the age of consent.

There is a serious lack of proper evidence about actual cancer risk for intersex folks with gonadal variations. (BTW for people with actual genetic cancer syndromes like BRCA1 and HNPCC, they're just told to get regular imaging of the relevant organs; nobody is doing preventative mastectomies on kids who have BRCA1.)

Many intersex variations are associated with stature! Sex hormones like estrogen affect bone growth, and so there's a bunch of variations that are associated with being short, and a bunch of variations associated with being tall.

Examples of intersex variations associated with short stature: monosomy X/Turner Syndrome, congenital hypogonadism, congenital hyperestrogenism, FSH insensitivity, and CAH.

Examples of intersex variations associated with tall stature: trisomy XXY/Klinefelter Syndrome, trisomy XYY, trisomy X, tetrasomy X, tetrasomy XXY, 5-ARD, LH insensitivity, and ILD.

Not a poll - For the biofamily member poll, I think there's an error ? o: There's two options for "related variations/ biodad's side" and none for "related variations/biomom's side" eugjeuf (<- wanted to press that option)

Poll: would you prefer if TMA was used inclusively, or would you prefer for TMA/TME was just dropped entirely? By used inclusively I mean that TMA stops being used as a synonym for transfem and instead refers to anybody who is affected by transmisogyny, such as nontransfem intersex people who have experienced transmisogyny.
