“decompress and detach” repeat until breathing properly again
The good kind of drained. Empty, but because I poured it all out intentionally. Free, for now.

Tonight, I wrote.
I write endlessly, on my journal, on Twitter, here, for work. But it was the first time in a long time that I felt this alive while/after writing something. I actually felt that I created.
Today, a creepy thing happened.
I decided to finally give in to the nagging feeling that I should write about Girls, with the view to add the resulting essay to my portfolio. A lot has been said about the show (and I mean a lot), so it made sense that, overwhelming as it is, when Girls ended this week, there was a force-feeding of sorts of my timeline, with helping after helping of what writers of various creeds thought of Lena Dunham’s body of work. I even tried to draft a love letter to Girls here (draft, inexplicably, went missing).
I had doubts about whether I would see my own Girls essay through to the end, because I didn’t know what I wanted to focus on. So I decided to dance on my own first - as one does when doing anything Girls-related - and as I proceeded to cool down, Crowded Places played (my playlist was on shuffle), a song used to end the penultimate episode (and what felt like the finale, in the traditional sense) of the final season, and I found myself sitting down and getting to the actual writing.
Other songs that I discovered because they were used on Girls soon followed.
The smirk barely vanished when I finished writing, and the current draft is in dire need of polishing, but thank you, universe.

Why does the fandom hate Kathleen Kennedy so much? Don’t want to seem ignorant or anything, I simply don’t know why, so inform me, please?
- She was pretty against casting John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran - Has a clear pattern of intervening in casting so the female leads are white brunette women - (That Rey, Jyn, and whoever Emilia Clarke plays are all white is all on her as we know they tested for several women of color and none were casted. KMT was only picked out in the end because Rian Johnson intervened) - Authorized the kill-them-all end of Rogue One when at the very least Cassian was supposed to make it (making the movie where most of the leads were nonwhite all die horribly) - Made a pretty conscious decision to leave out Finn, Rose, and Poe out of TLJ merchandising to focus on the white protagonists when this is an ensemble piece just to cater to white racists and scrounge up a little more money - Ignored all the nonwhite characters at the celebration yesterday, even when John Boyega took a flight all the way from London just to show up to have his character, the MALE LEAD OF THE NEW STAR WARS TRILOGY, be forgotten and shafted and be given a single shot in the trailer and excluded from the poster
I know there’s more but this is what’s on my mind
also, unrelated to star wars but, she was one of the producers (the producer?) in the last airbender movie where. ya know. katara, aang and soka were all white. which says a lot abt her
didn’t she also come out and make a statement about female directors or something?
Yoooooo idk who Kathleen Kennedy is but damn
Yeah she said no Star Wars film had ever had a female director bc its such a big production & women don’t have the experience
not to mention she outright LIED to Carrie Fisher’s family. she made them look foolish by tricking them & telling them they were signing off on Carrie’s image being used for Ep 9, when they were actually signing off on merchandising (aka all for more $$$$$ for Disney) then said she didn’t know what Todd Fisher was talking about in interviews he did where he was talking about being excited Carrie that would be in EP 9. going even so far as to say that he must have “misconstrued” what she told him & that Leia was never going to be in Ep 9….. HOW DARE SHE. that poor family has suffered enough. KKKennedy is truly disgusting.
Okay I used to admire Kathleen Kennedy because of her #girlboss feature on Elle. In the Beyonce-graced issue, no less. ...
Think pink.

So those who include in their arguments that not everyone wants to be associated with UP, lo and behold, are not from UP. Funny.
