But the pleasant thing is to wake early, throw open the window, and lie reading in bed.
Edward Fitzgerald, from a letter to W. F. Pollock, May 3, 1840 (via litverve)
The person you think of when you stand in front of the ocean. Thatâs the person youâre in love with.
Colleen Michele (via fearlessknightsandfairytales)
When you are washing the dishes, washing the dishes must be the most important thing in your life. Just as when you are drinking tea, drinking tea must be the most important thing in your life. Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the whole world revolvesâslowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual moment. Only this actual moment is life.
Thich Nhat Hanh (via yogachocolatelove)
I only write when I am falling in love, or falling apart.
(via leeessang)
What if I told you 10 years from now your life would be exactly the same? Doubt youâd be happy. So, why are you afraid of change?
Karen Salmansohn (via misswallflower)
What is success? It is being able to go to bed each night with your soul at peace.
Paulo Coelho (via lebanesebreezze)
"Mom, why do the best people die?" "When youâre in a garden, which flowers do you pick?" "The most beautiful ones."
Unknown (via awelltraveledwoman)
âYou have to be the kind of person who can make the best out of a Tuesday. You know those people who live for the weekends? Theyâre wishing their life away. You have to find something worth living for or else youâll look back and realize youâve wasted your life away.
Drew Marvin, English Teacher (via thatkindofwoman)

Sadness gives depth. Happiness gives height. Sadness gives roots. Happiness gives branches. Happiness is like a tree going into the sky, and sadness is like the roots going down into the womb of the earth. Both are needed, and the higher a tree goes, the deeper it goes, simultaneously. The bigger the tree, the bigger will be its roots. In fact, it is always in proportion. Thatâs its balance.
Osho Rajneesh (via girlinlondon)
We donât read and write poetry because itâs cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.
There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky, and you ask âWhat if I fall?â Oh but my darling, what if you fly?
Erin Hanson
Life gives you what you need in that precise moment of time
One week of rest and relaxation time and I'm back on the plane tomorrow heading to work for my 26-9 roster. I've had a lot of time to think over this week. Here's my thoughts at 1am because I don't want to go to sleep - it just means that when I wake up I'll have to start packing and then sooner than I know it I will be driving to the airport. I digress.
Over the past couple of years I have grown to learn that Life gives you what you need in that precise moment of time, and that Everything happens for a reason.
I used to get so worked up when things didn't go to plan, I'm almost certain that I had a mild case of anxiety. I always wanted things to be perfect. Even now I find myself wasting time to check if things are perfect, just to have peace of mind. Case in example when I'm shopping, I need to have the most unscratched, unblemished, and new product whenever I buy something, even if it's something as disposal as a shampoo bottle. At least an extra 2-20 minutes is wasted on this. Unecessarily anal retentive, OCD, right?
Anyway, one way I overcome this is to just avoid the shops. It's definitely not as bad as it used to be before. These days I have learned to go with the flow. Nothing needs to be over dramatised, and there is always a second option. And a third. And a fourth. OK, you get the point now.
Life really is too short to worry. So just stop worrying! Something greater out there has a plan already lined up for you... sometimes you just have to let it roll into place.
The pursuit of happiness is the source of all unhappiness
Is it possible to be happy for the rest of your life?
Can you ever be happy for the opportunities that have been presented to you?
Shouldn't you be grateful for the comfortable life you are living, having a roof over your head, and a stable job that enables you to buy whatever you want?
It's not that I hate my job. It's not that I am miserably poor. It's not that I'm completely unloved. It's even not that I have low self esteem.
The reason I am unhappy is because I am discontent with my easy, comfortable life. Isn't human nature funny that way - you always want what you can't have. And when you get what you couldn't have before, after a short while the novelty wears off and it's not enough, you want even more.Â
Right now I'm at a crossroad. I want more out of my life. I want to do more with the life I have.
But what is it more of that I want?Â
I want a life that excites me everyday, in a scary, joyful, and spontaneous sort of way.Â
I want to escape the comfortable confines of my easy routine living (which has become mind numbingly boring). I want to challenge myself and live a life out of the ordinary. I want an extraordinary life.
With all this in mind I need to be wealthy. Wealthy in terms of a fulfilling, rich life where having the money gives you the opportunities.
I'm forced to coach my brain into thinking this as my current situation doesn't seem like it will change, at least for the next 6-8 months.
In the big scheme of things, 6-8 months isn't a long time. Some days it seems forever and I just want to pull the pin. Other days, responsibility hits my brain and keeps me in my situation.
I've had a lot of days pondering over my life. My past week has been more or less, boring. I'm bored of my boring lifestyle.
I need a new challenge.
When will fate decide what my next big challenge will be?
Day trip with my twin sister to Rottnest Island, better known to Perth locals as "Rotto".
