Hozier - Francesca (Official Lyric Video)
“That’s what you get for dicking around.“ (wiresdonttalk)
“Right, because you only make rational and safe decisions,” he remarked, cradling his hand against his body. Admittedly it was a stupid move, but it was more the principle that she was correcting him, off all people.
“That advice isn’t really helping now, but thanks I’ll tuck it away for later.”

“Let me worry about if it’s interesting or not. Shoot.” Gaige pursed her lips and propped her chin up in her hands. She was honestly more interested in the know-hows and putting new shit together than actually getting paid, but the cash did make it all a bit sweeter. “And who says I can’t help you work on both? Multitasking is my forte.”
“It’s more programming than engineering. Not my idea, but Maliwan knows who their best people are for the job. It’s AI development. The way the company sees it, one way to sell more guns to more people is to reduce or eliminate user error so that shooting a gun is literally as easy as pointing and pulling the trigger. Again, not my idea.” Carson had his own skepticism about the project, but it had been assigned to him and he’d be damned if he wasn’t going to produce results.
“To put in the simplest terms, I’m building a weapons AI to correct bad aim.”
wiresdonttalk:
“What you consider dumb, I consider ‘being as difficult as possible just to get on your nerves.’ And superglue to the hand is just… so middle school. I’m above that kind of childishness.” Gaige hopped up onto the countertop and folded her legs together, the lab coat hanging over the edge. “I could be convinced to tone it down… if there’s something in it for me. Maybe free morning coffees…? From that Dippin’ Danishes down the street…?” She waggled her eyebrows a mile a minute.
Carson lifted his coffee cup, moving it out of her way as she sat on the counter. It also functioned as a way to bite back a quip about middle school pranks.
“... Okay, when I said blackmail and bribe people, I didn’t mean me. But I like your spirit.” It was a small price to pay, though, trading coffee for constantly worrying what she would do when someone stepped on her toes. He rolled his eyes in response, cracking a smile as he set his cup down again.
“Fine. I buy you coffee, you chill out a little. And if you are going to do anything drastic, you let me know before you shut down an entire bathroom? As a courtesy to a friend.” He held out a hand to shake on the deal, lifting an eyebrow expectantly.
🍑 {you know he gotta}
Moe physically reacted like a cat being surprised by a hostile enemy. Back arched, she wheeled around, ready to strike… only to discover Carson standing there with a silly grin on his face. Now Moe just felt stupid, and it showed all over her face.“… delete all recordings you have of this incident.”
muscledahl:
“I can delete those in your head as well, if I were in a worse mood,” Moe teased, grabbing the hand that tapped the side of his head and gently twisting at the wrist. Definitely not enough to hurt, but just as a playful gesture since they were apparently “assaulting” each other today. “I cannot hold that against you. It’s how you operate in your work life, it’s to be expected you’d carry that home too.”
“But if you did that and I forget I might be tempted to do it again.” Not that he wouldn’t be tempted anyway. His free hand reached out from his side to take hers; there was nothing playful in the gesture, despite the look on his face. “I’m a man of science--I see something interesting, I form a hypothesis, and then I run some tests.”
muscledahl:
Once Troy was on the ground, Moe didn’t waste any time trying to get him into a hold. He was big, tall, but he was still made of flesh and blood in some parts of his body, parts with nerves that could be tweaked and twisted to the point of breaking. She was on him like a predator on its prey, legs locked around his neck and shoulder, his one flesh arm twisted back and over his head at an odd angle that threatened dislocation. Her ankles were locked together so that if he tried to stand with her, she would move with him, sitting on his neck and shoulders until he tried to shake her off like a wet dog. If he didn’t pass out first from the lack of oxygen. “Put your camera on my tab.” With that, she grabbed his middle finger and twisted it as hard as she could.
Troy couldn’t manage to make words, grunting in anger and pain as she secured her hold on him. He squirmed to get a knee under himself, gritting his teeth against the sharp pain in his shoulder. It would take more than that for Troy to go down, he was determined of that much. Besides, he hadn’t gotten the screaming he’d been promised yet.
“Little... Rat--!” He pushed himself to his knees, groaning again as she twisted his finger. “This how... Dahl taught you to fight? Cowards.” There was little he could do to work his arm free from her grasp given the odd way she held it, but he had another arm, one much stronger and capable of reaching up to grab her ponytail as he hoisted himself back to his feet.
“You’ll pay for that--rgh! With interest.” The lack of oxygen made him a little unsteady, stumbling a few steps before he found the effort to pull hard with his mechanical arm, trying to peel her away by her hair. “Let’s make a deal: I’ll leave you with one good eye so you can watch what happens to your boyfriend afterward.”
{still alive, gotta conjure up some carson brain power}
I just love using anger as a coping mechanism instead of letting myself feel sad cause thats Pathetic™

wiresdonttalk:
Gaige waved him off dismissively. She didn’t pull pranks without doing some research. “Easy. He got a fake email saying the bathroom nearest his desk was closed for maintenance, so I knew he was going to use the next closest one. And he uses the same stall every time he goes, second to last. I dunno, don’t ask me, the guy is weird. That’s how I knew he was the only one that was gonna be in there at that time. … and by better, you mean more humiliating and public? Cuz I can do that instead.”
“No. No, that is not what I mean and you know it. You’re too smart to be that dumb.” She was a firecracker for sure, or maybe more like a landmine, as recklessly as she went off. It kept things interesting at the same time it worried him; her eagerness to cause trouble wouldn’t be tolerated by everyone the way he did.
“You’re an evil mastermind, Gaige, and I both respect and am a little scared of that. But here, you might have to tone it down a notch or two to get by. Maybe just superglue his coffee cup to his hand next time. Or blackmail him, that’s the favorite corporate pastime.”
Jake, I’m serious. I don’t know if I can do this job and still be an equal parent. I mean, who’s gonna pick up Mac on the odd days? And who’s gonna bathe him on the even days? And who’s gonna do the cooking? And who’s gonna figure out—

“Says the guy with the burned hand.” Gaige rolled her eyes and leaned against the nearest counter. It was a wonder he even called on her if he didn’t trust her. … which was a fair assessment, but he could at least say that he trusted her smarts and intuition when it came to making weapons. “Alright, what’s the molehill you got stuck on this time? How can li’l ol’ Gaige fix it… and how much am I getting paid?”
“Okay, well--” She had him there, he couldn’t preach much about safety in his current circumstance. But it was about what he said, not what he did. “Me getting hurt is different, I don’t really care what happens to me.
“We’re not really working with an element, it’s more of aaaaaaan astrophysical phenomenon? The trouble we’re running into is getting the everything to work without blowing up the gun or the shooter’s hand. I can’t give you a number, but it pays well. And if we’re able to get everything working with your help it’ll look good; I’ve worked on a lot of projects and I make a lot of money.
“I’ve got another project too but it’s still pretty new and not as interesting.”

{a day late but we'll call it today for Carson's bday! In spirit, I only got like 2 hours of sleep so idk if I'll have the brain capacity to do anything for it}

Now Moe just felt stupid, and it showed all over her face. “... delete all recordings you have of this incident.”
His smile widened as soon as she spun around, not quite spilling into a laugh. He eyed for a moment before giving into her request. Kind of.
“...Fine. I don’t need it, it’s all up here anyway.” He tapped the side of his head, winking at her.
“I didn’t mean to startle you. Y’know, I just saw an opportunity and I took it.”
@intxrnd reblogged from here:
“Why would I kill you when you’re Troy’s favourite punching bag? And there’s nothing that looks right about this.” Tyreen picked up the latest whatever-he’d-been-working-on and tossed it into his lap. “Care to explain?”
He reached out to stop her too late as she fiddled with the thing he’d been working on. A look of alarm flashed across her face as she tossed it, catching it carefully before it dropped into his lap.
“Explain? Explain what? This is your people’s shitty rendition of what a gun is supposed to look like.” There was shortness and sarcasm in his voice that he didn’t bother trying to hide. He wasn’t going to take the blame for bad engineering, siren or no siren.
“This is the most bizarre amalgamation of metal I’ve ever seen and they just decided to throw explosives into it and slap on a trigger. I’m trying to fix it.”
