i agree with you SO MUCH ANON!!!!!

as a zadr shipper too. it feels so weird and almost pedophilic because in that same content they age up dib and make him this mature tall lanky ass grown man and then make zim this little ass baby looking thing.

there's a problem with the zadr side of the fandom that has mainly stemmed from the "zim is an adult" rhetoric that is the CONSTANT aging up of the characters. some of them are because they're scared to be deemed problematic, some of them are because they like zadr but also just think that zim is an adult anyway. and they all end up defaulting to that pedophilic seeming genre of zadr. its so bad that i literally could not find kid zadr EVER when i looked on the tag on here, or anything that had them NOT in that weird dynamic. its to the point where just any content of zadr where they're aged up irks me so bad (as a zim child truther)

i got a little off topic, i just think this is such a weird thing that we have in this fandom. its yucky and you guys gotta quit it

People who infantilize ZIM in ZADR ships piss me off.

I’m talking about those very specific ZADR shippers… Yes, ZIM is small. He is an irken. His species is short, but he is not the size of a literal baby. He is at least 3 3/4 to 4 feet tall.

On top of that, people baby him. Not in the “just blew up the empire feeling cute” funny way. They baby him. They draw him like a baby. They make him act like one and it is weird. It is gross. Sure, one could argue ZIM is unfamiliar with human romance and would be pretty dumb, but he’s pretty familiar with affection as a concept. He shows that throughout the comics. Did we miss him loving on a sack of meat as if it were his own kid?

Like- They just display him as a child or a baby with how he looks and acts. It’s just fucking weird, man. That ain’t no baby. That dude’s an evil genius who can tear down an entire empire if he actually put effort into making real plans. He’s a total menace.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to get bullied, but the people bully the first group usually justify it with wanting to "protect them from potential groomers" who would use their crush on Zim for their advantage, so them not doing that to the other group leads me to think that:

A) They're lying, they hate ZADR and want to take an another jab to it hiding behind being virtous and they don't actually care about victims

B) They care, but they're projecting, and think that the only ship can be used for grooming is ZADR, so they blame the ship instead of the actual predators who used it, and think if kids hate ZADR, they're so smart that they are not suspectable to grooming at all, and the ones they bully need "tough love"

C) The Fandom got better in that front, so they leave minors alone

The pessimistic part of my brain thinks A) and B) are more likely, and it's sad. Especially B). Because no community is 100% safe. There are bad apples everywhere and thinking that's not the case can be pretty dangerous actually.

And he also said that Dib is just as selfish as Zim? (If the creator can compare them, it's fair game for the fandom.) And how it is a rule for the show they're supposed to be intellectual equals?

I know there are a lot of misinformation in the fandom, but these ones are not made up by them. Do your research instead of getting upset at people for things that the creator also said.

It's fine if you don't like every single thing he says about his characters, you don't have to, I don't think he cares.

"Shipping would be more in character/canon-accurate than found family." Aren't GIR, ZiM and Mini Moose are kinda found family? And Clembrane with the Membranes? How much canon ships we have compared to that? A big fat zero.

"No, no I was talking about ZADR VS ZADF and/or other ships VS ZiM becoming a Membrane!" Even than how? I'm pretty sure the creator doesn't want to put any ships into the show and isn't a fan of ZADF either, so I think if anything they'd be equally in non-character.

Seriously someone who claims stuff like that explain to me where are you coming from, because it makes no sense for me.
