Our Lady of Zahlé and Bekaa Overlooking the city of Zahle and its extending plains, the statue of Our Lady of Zahlé and Bekaa brings comfort and blessings to local residents. Our Lady carries a cluster of grapes in her right hand, while the Christ Child holding an ear of wheat sits on her left arm. The cluster of grapes and ear of wheat represent the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist. In 1825, the city of Zahlé inaugurated Corpus Christi celebrations and her people were spared from the ravages of the bubonic plague.
