St. Bruno of Cologne, " For the devil may tempt the good, but he cannot find rest in them; for he is shaken violently, and upset, and driven out, now by their prayers, now by their tears of repentance, and now by their almsgiving and similar good works."
Processie van de stilte, Sevilla - Constantin Meunier , 1882-83.
Belgian, 1831-1905
Oil on canvas, 154 x 110 cm.
A thing that I love of Catholicism, as a woman with a conservation of the arts and an history degree, is how we interpret the Bible: Sola Scriptura is the stuff that drove me away from becoming a lutheran (mixed with a lots of other reasons, such as the Eucharist ofc).
Catholic way of reading and understanding the Bible is so beautiful and complex and I love learning more about it. I love how philology, anthropology, history and other disciplines all contribute to our understanding of it.
It just adds so much depth and richness and beauty! I am so in love with it ❤️
Romaria D'Agonía
One of the most beautiful feasts in Portugal!
Located at Viana do Castelo, the veneration to the image dates back to 1700s.
When she was born and we looked into her little grey eyes...it was like looking into the eyes of God...he'd given us this precious angel and now we pray that he will continue to watch over her
