Baran Al-Hashimi come home I miss you
i should've locked in when i was thirteen
i really really enjoy the interpretation that Baran's seizures are caused by working with children specifically. she does say to robby that she hasn't worked pedes cases since afghanistan, but it isn't really brought up in conversations about her seizures that she had both of them when working with children: baby jane doe, and the severely asthmatic boy. she also has a pre-seizure aura when talking to the parents of jackson davis.
it is also worth noting that she hasn't worked pedes cases since becoming a mother.
i really really want to write more about how difficult i think it must have been to get pregnant and have a baby the year after (!!!!) surviving a terrorist attack on a maternity hospital.
all the prenatal scans, all the checks, all the visits to the maternity ward in pittsburgh...... how fucking difficult and triggering that must have been..... the survivor's guilt of being a middle-eastern woman living in the west......
oh my baran they don't know how much i love you
tender moment after shift
what if baran crafted her entire personality around being “thoughtful” as a trauma reaction to feeling compelled to hide her seizures. are we thinking about that? what if her whole self is just buried somewhere waiting to be unshackled and coaxed out?
the thing about phone in bed is that it's so awesome. almost makes you feel like betraying & destroying yourself for nothing isn't all so bad
kiss me (softly then boldly)
“No, you are not fully capable, and you know it.”
and it'll survive without you
what if we were in a world where kissing was illegal and you were a middle aged married woman and i was an almost-25-year-old gal on my first day at my sales job and i slapped you 31 times bc of the world's apparent bdsm-based credit system and you kept coming back to get slapped by me hundreds of more times and we fell in love, but i died before we could do anything about it bc my coworker got jealous and ratted me out for brushing my teeth in the bathroom at work and accused me of sexual assault so you cried over my corpse that was tossed in a quarry in a cardboard box that your husband designed? 👀
and so, the misery persists
sorry but I actually do love that pluribus is “slow” I love that it lingers a bit too long and makes you watch characters walk all the way across rooms and load things into their cars and listen to entire voicemails I love that a 50 minute episode might have a few dozen lines of dialogue I love that it’s nearly impossible for it to be a “second screen” show maybe I love slow!!!!!!!
thinking about carol kissing zosia’s scars
Hot take but I don’t actually think Carol Sturka is a mean lesbian. She’s not mean. Yeah she pokes fun at her fans in private but she also keeps their fanmail and spends hours with them at signings. Yeah she complains to Helen a lot, but she still goes on their weird vacations and deeply values Helen’s opinions. All of Carol’s “meanness” would be called bluntness or humor or righteous indignation if she was a man. Why do people talk about her like she’s catty. Why are people perpetuating the idea that a woman being honest about her anger is mean
Can I be honest. The way we keep going from Monday to Tuesday to Wednesday to Thursday to Friday to Saturday to Sunday back to Monday is deeply troubling
