MACRO TREND FORECASTING ( CLIMATE CRISIS TREND) MOOD BOARD

Africa is a very rich continent, full of colours and texture. Fashion and textile are no exception to the description.

Recycling of old fabrics, plastics etc are not wasteful, anybody that knows Africa would say its a ‘’ No waste zone’’.

Patch work is very common in the fashion and textile sector, nothing can go unused.

Please pay closer attention /zoom to the skirt patch work, i inserted another images that clearly proves anti wastage, protest fashion statement and that how nothing is un-recyclable. This kind of patch technique work can save the earth including our river and oceans from being a dumping ground. And this has taken the skirt design to another level by creating a different texture a unique design.

COLLAR PROJECT: We were told to design a collar, ruffs or cuffs using the Bronze Age collars, the story of Kate Mullany or the collars of Ruth Ginsburg as inspiration. The collars must be wearable, creative, inventive, innovative, and contemporary in design. Different techniques and materials can be used to achieve this project. So we are to research, develop ideas and concept with brain storming/drawing/collage in relation to the collar and the textile, create primary and locate secondary resources suitable for the project. 15 collars sample and one 1 final product must be done.

The macro trend mood board. (PROTEST mood board). The fashion world, the world as a whole will always experience protest/campaign for one thing or the other. Their styles in fashion is been game up, it’s not about Ts anymore, protesters/activists wants to make statements through what they are wearing, bold colours statements, baggy comfortable outfit and even a lot of unisex clothing will be seen on the streets of future protest..

We were told to research on how fashion is inclusive in protests. The BLM protest in 2020, Men came through with fashion, dressed in tailored bold colours suits. The fashionable statement said it all to get justice for George Floyd.

People are now beginning to accept the new norm of the world, we are not sure if it’s going to end anytime soon, but the last thing people want is to continue on the mind set of official trend of suits, jackets, tight skirts or pants. Staying at home to work long hours, sitting in front of computer can be so overwhelming. Comfortable and casual is now part of life style. Creating this macro potential trend is for a woman that needs to feel smart, not restricted, but yet feels trendy and beautiful.
