These pictures are not from a war zone, this is Spain TODAY:

Three days ago there was a massive flash flood in Eastern Spain (Valencia). The government did not alert anyone of the incoming danger, so people stayed in their houses and workplaces and drowned to death. No help at all is coming to many villages, which are still completely isolated, not getting food, clean water or machinery to get people out of their cars and houses.

There are dead bodies floating in the streets and inside flats and malls. The few divers that have been able to access some of them say that "they are graveyards". People are unable to get their loved one's bodies out of their houses. They are still rescuing people trapped inside garages, with the water up to their neck. The water is so polluted from gasoline, chemicals and decomposing bodies / animals that a volunteer today had to have its foot AMPUTATED after walking in there. There's obviously no electricity or running water, so people can't go to a proper toilet. We expect infections and illnesses to begin soon.

I repeat, NO HELP IS COMING. Our government has completely abandoned us. The only ones that are bringing food and clean water to the people are volunteers that have to access these zones by foot. Yesterday, a group of French policemen came on their own to see if they could help. They could not believe when they were told that they were the first ones to come.

it bothers me how outside of middle eastern, african, & muslim-born women, i really dont actually see many genuinely informative criticisms of the hijab. or of fgm. or of the many things that ppl on here use as justification for fear-mongering about brown people immigrating to other nations. why is it that people love bringing up fgm as an argument point, but they seem allergic to actually learning about what fgm is, who is affected by fgm, and what underlying beliefs enable it? why is it that people love bringing up things like sharia law, but have 0 idea what it tends to actually entail? i shouldn’t have to explain to someone who apparently cares so much about fighting sharia law that women getting stoned to death for not wearing a hijab hasn’t been a thing in forever, but women getting punished societally for not wearing the hijab has. i shouldn’t have to explain to someone who cares soooo much about ending fgm that it’s actually hardly practiced in nearly every middle eastern country and is practiced by christians in several nations. if u care about these topics, how come u only bring it up as a gotcha in the most misinformed ways to either justify your racist fear-mongering about brown ppl “bringing sharia law to europe!!!!” or when you’re trying to #own the MRAs

I am American and I have never seen photos like this. I had no idea there are borders like this. Even though I LOVE the idea of open borders, I am staring at these pictures like “wait…people can just…walk across some stones or grass and BE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY??? and nobody stops them?? how does that WORK?!” So you can tell that my country’s propaganda has gotten to me by convincing me that this CAN’T work even though…it…obviously can. These pics just seem unreal to me. I’ve been taught my whole life that this can’t exist. In 27 years no one has ever sat me down and gone, look, here’s how it is elsewhere. It isn’t impossible at all.

Yeah, this is what european borders look like INSIDE EUROPE. But what about European borders with African and Asian countries?

This is know in Spain as “La valla de Melilla” (The Fence of Melilla). Melilla is an spanish colony in Africa, Northern Morocco. It’s the only way to get from Africa to Spain by land. Each day, hundreds of inmigrants come from all parts of Africa looking for a better life, but when they get in there they face horrible, inhumane treatment by both the morrocan and Spanish government and police brutality. Spanish police is known to shot of sight and to arrest and confine children in “Centros de detención en caliente” (similar to ice detention centers) where they face the crime of not being European. Lots of them will be raped or die of mistreatment in there.

We think of ourselves as so civilized and advanced, but this is completely illegal by our law and nobody cares it is happening. Even more, a fascist party called VOX, which also promotes racial segregation and “” anti feminist-laws"“, has proposed to make it legal to” return" basically whoever they want to to their country, and by doing so they have more than doubled their votes in 2 years (they are now the 3 most voted party in Spain).

When a lot of NGO joined up and took the matter to the European parliament, their response what to just make legal to expel any inmigrants.

Nowadays, a lot of the people I know still think Romanians shouldn’t go to school with kids from other races.

So yes, Borders can and should look like that, but don’t think that here in Europe the situation is any better. Those are indeed beautiful pictures that show us what borders could be, but don’t let them fool you.

The lead time on the tornado warning for Mayfield, KY was 2 hours. They had 2 hours since the first warning dropped, and they had days of weather reports and hours of watches posted previous.

There’s a real explanation! This is actually a SCAM called ‘Brushing’ to raise their ratings on amazon artificially. They create a fake account with a random real address, purchase the item themselves and mail it off and as it goes to a real address, random people get it. 

Then they leave themselves a nice five-star review with the fake account. This sounds like a victimless crime, but this means your information is compromised, they have your account info, and possibly your credit card information, and can lead to people purchasing garbage because they believe the multiple verified five star reviews. 

If you receive a random package you did not order, you should report it immediately to both Amazon and the Federal Trade Commission, change your password, and monitor your cards. You’re free to keep the package though.

It’s that time of year again.

Monitor your credit and debit cards regularly. Be wary of pop up sites offering deals too good to be true. If you get a package you didn’t order, investigate, be cautious, but US law also allows you to keep anything sent to you without obligation (you know, to prevent scams where people send you something you didn’t ask for and then sue you for an inflated purchase price).

Oh, and shop small / fuck Amazon if you are able.
