Anti-hero! England as part of an upcoming project (ask-blog) that @zxyshi and I are gonna work on and will probs open in august! P.S. yall got to give some love and support to zxyshi-chan’s art they need lots, too!
So I have a headcanon that America and England are roughly the same height, but dont look it unless they are standing right next to each other. There's more. America has a long torso (accommodates his muscles, which are realistically soft and firm) and shortish stocky legs... at least in comparison with his torso. Thus giving America a very shapely rear-end. England has a normal-ish torso and long legs, shapely legs... legs for miles. I'm not sure it makes sense, but because America looks so much bulkier in his torso that he looks taller? I don't know. But I do know this... England's legs are fine.
And I do know this... America has cake. XD
Okay, but I do totally agree with this, but I also want to add that personality and perception have a lot to do with how tall we perceive someone to be.
For example, my dad is 5'10", but everyone I've ever said that to is very surprised because they were all sure he is well over six foot. My dad is a very gregarious person who always smiles and makes friends with everybody.
So I actually think that the personality difference is a big reason for the discrepancy others have in their minds about America and England. America loud and obnoxious and friendly and enthusiastic and very much Not Shy. He probably doesn't even have very good posture yet I wouldn't be surprised if he was the same as my dad: under six foot, but people think he's like 6'3".
Contrast with England who is more reserved, probably even deliberately doesn't stand too tall--very straight, good posture, but he doesn't approach the world with the same gusto as America. He hides his "true power level" as it were and would rather hang back and observe until it's time to speak up for something that matters to him or put someone in their place.
Combined with their respective physiques like you described, they definitely leave the impression of a height discrepancy, but yeah, they are likely very close in height.

I also think Hetalia pairs well with special interests. There's fanon material for every hyperfixation under the sun. You like rococo? Here's Francis in 16 ridiculous outfits. Chinese medicine? Song dynasty court drama w/ Yao. Heavy metal? Nordic 5 band AU. D&D? UK bros in a steampunk fairytale setting. Catholic guilt? 17th century Prussia-centric found family angst. RomComs? LietBel retelling of ur favorite musical. Events like the World Cup & Olympics? Too easy. Literally anything! Nerdy shit, obscure shit, dumb shit. We gotchu.
Where else am I supposed to get material that appeals to my taste in absurdist humor, an ethnically diverse cast of misfits set anywhere in the world, in any time period, exploring any theme I want?
This is also a good point! Looking back, I realize Hetalia was one of my first special interests.
Hetalia really is like a playhouse with dozens of dolls you can play pretend with. 😆 You can do whatever you want and tailor it to your own personal tastes and hyperfixations.
I made a "which mutual am I" thing so here you go💥💥💥
This was fun to make actually :]
out of curiosity...
please choose the one closest to how you feel
*In general*, how flexible/malleable are your headcanons about your blorbo(s)?
Extremely - I switch them out often and I like exploring new ones
Very - I have some core ideas but I don't hold anything too tightly
Somewhat - I have some hills I will die on but sometimes other ideas interest me
Slightly - In certain situations, I will make tweaks, but my hc's mostly settled
Not at all - I have very firm and fixed headcanons
*this poll is asking about the character(s) most dear to you, not your attitude about headcanons and fanon as a whole
-should read: "Slightly - In certain situations, I will make tweaks, but my hc's are mostly settled
Follow up:
How willing are you to engage with fanworks that differ from your interpretations of your blorbo(s)?
Extremely - Hell yeah! Bring it on! I just like seeing my fave in SituationsTM
Very - Yes, of course! That's the fun of fandom!
Somewhat - If the mood strikes me or it's recommended to me or smth, sure
Slightly - No, unless I'm given a very, very compelling reason
Not at all - I just want to see things I already know I'll like
*Again, this is just about the characters who are your most favorite, not your fandom as a whole

Question for American peeps: how high is your thermostat set rn? This will answer a question I have about whether or not people in the US constantly live at British heatwave temperatures.
67 or lower
68-69
70-71
72-73
74-75
76 or higher
I truly cannot believe anything at 70 and up has so many votes. I'd have guessed that maybe 5% of people can stand anything that hot and it turns out to be closer to 80%???
Is that why most people's homes and most businesses are just intolerably suffocating to me in summer? I thought they just plain didn't have AC because I figured if they did they'd keep it on what I assumed was the universally preferable range of 67-69 😧
i feel like england's flirting ability is successful like 80% of the time, but he thinks he's a master at it
You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.
By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.
I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?
it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it
but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.
Reblog if your ask box is open.

“Please say your opinion in the tags! I’m asking cuz I have two oc ships and I’m afraid that the age differences might be a problem, the first is a 28 year old x a 31 year old the other is a 41 year old x a 46 year old.”

Oral Fixations
It is distracting. The irregular, muffled squeaky sounds coming from his left has diverted Alfred's attention all meeting long. He sighs.
"Shhh!" Arthur warns for perhaps the dozenth time, nudging his elbow against Alfred's ribcage.
Alfred hisses to keep in a giggle at the tickling sensation. He settles in his seat, leaning into Arthur's side, only to be nudged upright and back toward his own seat again.
"Awww," Alfred mutters and glances over just as Arthur pops another hard candy in his mouth. Alfred wonders what flavor it is. He longs for a little taste.
He enjoys the way Arthur's cheeks move when he eats his hard candies, which was quite often during meetings. The candy never remains still in Arthur's mouth. His lips purse. The tip of his tongue pokes out for the briefest of moments. Arthur could stay quite still though.
"Pay attention, Alfred," Arthur hisses.
Alfred whines and bites his lip. "But I wanna taste."
Arthur coughs and a distinctive crunch quickly follows. He clears his throat. "What did you say?"
Alfred bites down on his lip again. "Wanna taste," he mumbles.
"But this is m-," he huffs. Arthur gives a cursory glance around the meeting room. "Fine. Just stop biting your lips."
"Huh?" Alfred fully turns his head to look at Arthur just as Arthur reaches his hand up to his mouth. He pulls out a piece of his candy and plopps it in Alfred's own mouth.
Alfred blinks mutely at him for a long moment before he gives the candy a long suck.
"Happy?" Arthur whispers, rolling his eyes.
It is not what Alfred had intended, but it works for now. Alfred grins and nods, leaning into Arthur's side once again. This time, he receives no resistance. Arthur's arm wraps around his waist.
Alfred rolls the bitten-off half piece of candy. Pineapple. He smirks.
