It has... been so long...
It has been a very busy month for him....
Prompto briefly winces when he feels his timer on his wrist tick down to 0, removing his wristband he has around his soulmate timer that no one ever see’s since he always keeps it covered. When he took the wristband off and saw his timer stopped at 0 that the blonde was surprised that it wasn’t still ticking. Prompto wondered who his soulmate was and if he knew him or her in someway in his day to day life.
Thankfully at the moment the blonde was at his adoptive parents place currently who were rarely even around. Prompto rubbed at his wrist where his soulmate timer is out of habit and from the sudden and short lived pain of the timer hitting 0. The blonde had plans to meet up with Noctis at his apartment in a little bit, but at the moment he was trying to grasp on who his soulmate is and what to think about the fact that he actually does indeed have a soulmate out there somewhere.
When it was time to go over to Noct’s place Prompto quickly put his wristband back on over his soulmate timer to hide the fact that it was at 0. Prompto left his adoptive parents place and made his way towards the Prince’s apartment where they’d be hanging out at for the day. It didn’t take him long to reach Noct’s place or to reach the floor his apartment was located. Prompto knocked on the front door and all he could do was wait for the Prince or if Ignis was over for him to answer the door.

dawnturnstodusk:
Prompto was able to get his breathing under control, but the paleness from the pain or the pain written all over his facial expressions didn’t go away like he had hoped, but he couldn’t exactly do anything to fix that stuff now. One thing he knows for sure. He isn’t going to be very happy about his walk home, which will be even more pain than he already was in.
The blonde could never think bad about the Advisor, not now or not ever. He adored him too much to think bad of Ignis and it’d never change for his view of the Advisor to the Prince. Plus, him not calling Ignis Iggy or Specs wasn’t his right to call him those or any other nickname. Prompto didn’t think himself worthy enough to call Ignis by a nickname of any sort since he figures the Advisor didn’t like him all that much or anything either.
The blondes ankle was throbbing in pain, but he couldn’t exactly make it go away, not when he couldn’t afford to go to the doctor since his adoptive parents rarely sent money and his job didn’t pay enough for insurance so he usually went without medical help. Whenever he gets sick he just suffers through it and does his best to stock up on meds and fluids as well as food, but it’s never enough since it takes him a lot longer to get better and fully recovered from being sick too. Would he tell Ignis, Gladio or Noctis? Nope he wouldn’t since he didn’t want them to worry or think any less of him than a worthless piece of shit.
When he saw Ignis walking towards him, frowning briefly when he could’ve sworn he saw the Advisor trying to hide his limp and his eyes got a bit wide for a minute or two before he let the shock fade. His thoughts were racing so fast he could barely keep up when he realized Ignis was his soulmate and it made him feel even worse that he got hurt and hurt his soulmate in a way.
He gave a small smile to Ignis, hoping it wasn’t able to be read through. ❝ Huh? What? No, of course not. You didn’t keep me waiting for long Ignis. Thanks for inviting me to this place. ❞ Even though deep down Prompto didn’t think Ignis needed to invite him since he didn’t want a soulmate of any sort. He would’ve chewed anxiously on his bottom lip, but he didn’t want Ignis to notice or see him be so anxious about how they were soulmates. Prompto was thankful that soulmates couldn’t read each others thoughts or anything, but he did feel horrible that if one soulmate gets hurt the other soulmate feels it for a day or two. The blonde knew them he didn’t deserve Ignis and that the Advisor deserved better than him for a soulmate.
Prompto knew then that this would be the only time they go out since he didn’t think he deserved a soulmate like Ignis or have one at all. Negative thoughts were always a thing with Prompto no matter how much he tried to get rid of them, they never went away. He did his best to look at Ignis instead of averting his gaze, but at times his gaze did drop to the table between him and the Advisor. ❝ What made you think to invite me? You didn’t have to y’know? ❞ After this he’d go home and wallow in his self pity, but for now he’d just cherish this little bit of time with the Advisor while he still can.
While his own pain may have distracted Ignis from seeing it written across Prompto’s face, he did notice how pale the other man was - even his freckles seemed paler than normal. Ignis kept his expression carefully smoothed out as he picked up one of the menus - not that he needed it much, he came here often enough that he knew it and his regular order like the back of his hand.
Perhaps Prompto was feeling under the weather? He had rushed outside in the rain the night before, or was Ignis truly that terrifying that it had the youthful friend of the prince’s scared to even meet him for lunch. It hadn’t been what Ignis had been picking up during their texting conversation however, so he attributed the other’s paleness to the former assumption.
His gaze flickered up in time to catch Prompto’s little smile, and then the nervousness after; mayhaps he was just nervous? Ignis did his best to give a small reassuring smile of his own. “It was my pleasure, Prompto, rather; thank you for indulging me with my invitation for lunch.” He knew the place was out of the way for the blonde, and something tugged uncomfortably at his heart for likely making Prompto walk all the way out here when Ignis equally could have driven out somewhere closer to where Prompto lived.
Ignis resumed looking at the menu after Prompto’s gaze dropped again, and a little hum slipped out between his lips as he carefully shifted his legs so his injured ankle could keep pressure off of it. The question last queried to him took Ignis by surprise, his lips pressing together tighter for a moment before he once more looked up to catch Prompto’s eye. “Why did you take me up on my offer, Prompto?” he answered the question with one of his own before answering, “Lunch seemed like a good denominator for meeting up.” And an apology for potentially hurting the other the night before with his careless words.
Prompto stopped walking when he heard his phones ringtone going off so he pulled his phone out to look at the text message from Ignis. He decided to text back once he read the Advisor’s text. ‘Up to you. I don’t want to pry into anything personal. Plus it’s your downtime. See ya than Ignis.’ Prompto didn’t want to use any of Ignis’ nicknames since he felt like he didn’t deserve to and he wasn’t Gladio or Noctis either.
After he put his phone away in his back pocket the blonde started walking again to the café that Ignis mentioned. His ankle was killing him by the time he reached the cafe, it took him a good 45 minutes to get to the cafe. By the time Prompto got inside the cafe and sat down at a table he was panting heavily from how much pain he was in. The blonde decided to rest his head for now on his arms and on the table as he did his best to calm down from his pain.
Slowly, but surely the blonde sat up and took in several deep breaths of air before releasing them to calm his racing heart as well as his breathing too. Prompto hoped by the time Ignis got to the cafe that he wouldn’t notice how pale the blonde was from his pain or that he was able to be read by his pained expression even. All he had to do was wait for Ignis to show up, hoping he wouldn’t be late or anything.
Ignis took a minute to pause at a local garden near the café, letting himself sit on a bench to catch his breath and to take a moment to collect himself. He pulled his phone from his pocket to check the time and saw he had messages from Prompto.
A soft smile spread across his face as he read Prompto’s reply, and Ignis made a small promise to himself to take Prompto to one of the clubs he often lounged at on an off night. Maybe the more tamer of ones, at least, with a few stern talks to his usual evening “friends” to stay away for the night lest his reputation with Prompto and further on be tarnished. Noctis didn’t need to know about those nights.
He read through them again for another moment as he waited for some of the pain in his ankle to subside; it was interesting to be called Ignis rather than Iggy or Specs, it wasn’t bad in particular. Ignis was the name most used of course, but he’d grown accustom to Gladiolus, Iris, and Noctis calling him by other names. Prompto not using them was... different.
By the time the pain subsided enough Ignis knew he was going to be running late and he cursed himself as he hauled himself to his feet. Sending a quick text to let Prompto know he would be there in only a few minutes, before starting off in that direction again.
He was biting his cheek by the time he got to the café, trying to distract himself from the pain in his foot to somewhere else. Of course Prompto was there by the time he got in, and Ignis was wrapped up enough in his own attempts to keep himself walking steady to notice anything off about the other man as he slid into the seat opposite. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting long, my apologies, Prompto.”
{ @dawnturnstodusk; Cont’ from [x] }
For several minutes, Noctis was speechless on what to say to Ignis. Especially since it was what his Advisor said to him too. ❝ I-IGGY… WE BOTH KNOW I WOULDN’T MAKE YOU DO THAT AND I DON’T THINK I COULD ORDER OR ASK YOU TO DO THAT. ❞ He wouldn’t want to lose Ignis either like that. The Prince didn’t want to think of anything ever happening to Ignis since the Advisor matters more to Noctis than anything else in life, well besides his friends and family he has left. ❝ I NEVER WANT TO LOSE YOU IGGY. ❞ He hesitantly wraps his arms around his Advisor and hugs him, unsure if Ignis would let him hug him or allow the huge even.
The silence that followed his declaration hung heavy, and though Noctis’ expression was nearly priceless the intenseness in the pregnant pause kept Ignis from giving even a faint chuckle.
“I know,” he agreed quietly; he knew that Noctis would never ask nor command him to do that. Yet, that was part of why he would follow Noctis into the pits of hell or end of the universe regardless of if his childhood friend asked him or not.
Noctis was far too kind at times.
His breath stuttered for a moment as Noctis’ arms wrapped around him. It had been so long since they had embraced each other in such a similar way; and after just a moment’s hesitation Ignis let his own arms wrap securely around Noctis, holding the prince close.
dawnturnstodusk:
He sighs softly with Ignis holding him, gazing up at the Advisor as he smiles softly, not wanting to part from the others arms anytime soon. Rare moments like this always make Noctis calm and not over think anything either.
When Ignis’ expression smoothed out though it made Noct’s smile widen and when he heard the Advisor answering him that he listened. ❝ Why didn’t you ever tell me then? That you knew? ❞ A tilt to his head some as he thought about what and why Ignis never said anything to him. ❝ I’m glad because I would never order anyone to do something I don’t want them to do. And I love you too much to see anything happen to you. ❞
Noctis smiles more when Ignis rested his own forehead against the Prince’s and it made him giddy that the Advisor is allowing them this sort of closeness and it made him feel grateful for his Advisor. ❝ You feel the same about me too? Like really? You do? ❞ The Prince had to make sure since growing up kids always treated him kindly and cared about him because he was the Prince.
Ignis kept his arms around Noctis, allowing them to lower to settled more comfortably around the prince’s waist. His heart thumped uncomfortably in his chest as Noctis’ smile widened, and for a moment Ignis would swear it had stopped altogether when he heard “Love” slip from Noctis’ mouth.
“When should I have brought it up?” Ignis questioned softly after a moment, struggling momentarily to regain his own train of thought. “Or rather when could I have? It never seemed the right time. And yes, Noctis, I feel the same about you as well. I wouldn’t be here otherwise.”
He swallowed a bit harder than necessary, keeping his eyes trained upon the deep blue of his Prince’s. Ignis was already breaking far too many protocols - what was a few more? With a fair bit of hesitation - mostly due to being uncertain if Noctis truly felt the same - Ignis leaned in to brush his lips against Noctis’. “And I love you, Noctis.”
“I’m volunteering as tribute for your food experiments.” ((I felt so bad for iggy in the last one XD))

There was a gleam in Ignis' eyes as he stared at Nox, contemplating. There were quite a few recipes he had been meaning to try out that weren't quite suited to his own tastes, but with others willing to try?
Ignis could barely restrain a smile, the corners of his mouth twitching faintly. "I shall find it fair to warn you, you may not find all of my 'experiments' quite to your liking."
“So we’re waving the white flag and getting take out right?”

The sour expression on Ignis' face only worsened at Nox's question, the youth staring down at the pot that was supposed to be their dinner for the night. Sabotaged, he was certain of it, but nonetheless there was no time to redo the entire thing.
His shoulders sagged as all the breath in his lungs left him in an angry exhale, and he nodded. "Get the menus, unless you have one specifically decided?"

“I’m not someone who just eats anything.”
“Peanut butter? Out of the jar? With a fork?”
“This looks… like it could be edible.”
“It’s four in the morning, why are you in the cupboards?”
“So here’s the legendary snack gremlin in it’s natural habitat.”
“You didn’t make this for me. You did not.”
“Nope don’t care how much you didn’t cook this correctly, I’m eating it.”
“You didn’t touch dinner all night but now you’re eating?”
“Is this a lack of appetite or a lack of fine taste?”
“Try it. Come on, I swear it won’t poison you.”
“We have all this food and I want none of this. Stupid brain and food wants.”
“You abducted ALL of my chips? You’re a monster.”
“I need you to stay out of the kitchen for uh… reasons.”
“Hmm is that pleasant aroma what you’re cooking or just you?”
“I don’t think this is how you make a salsa.”
“You’re making me try this odd combination… why?”
“What unholy abomination are you eating?”
“I’m eating… you know what, I don’t know either.”
“You made this, so I’m going to eat it. I’m not wasting your effort no matter how awful it is.”
“Huh. This doesn’t taste half bad.”
“I told you that probably wasn’t a wise decision to eat.”
“I’m gonna give this cupboard twenty minutes for it to put my snacks back or else.”
“Bold enough to take the snack out of my mouth huh?”
“I’m volunteering as tribute for your food experiments.”
“So we’re waving the white flag and getting take out right?”

Prompto woke to his alarm going off, wincing when his ankle protested at the moment. The blonde rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and rubbed some at his eyes as he slowly sat up to get dressed in what he would wear out to lunch with Ignis. He still felt the loneliness deep inside of him and he rubbed at his chest as it wouldn’t go away, but he would try to ignore it too.
The blonde slowly pushed himself up off of the couch, straight up the stairs painfully. Once he got to his room he quickly got changed into the clothes he’d wear and went back downstairs to notice he had a text message from Ignis. ‘Oh? I won’t pressure you to tell me what you do on those nights off. You’re welcome Ignis.’ Prompto got his socks on and his worn down tennis shoes on, even though he doesn’t have a better pair of shoes to wear. It was a painful process for him to get his socks and shoes on with his sprained ankle.
Once his socks and shoes were on he got up off the couch again, placed his phone in his back pocket of his jeans and left the house. Not before locking the front door though and made his slow walk to the place where him and Ignis would have lunch at. He heard his phone go off so he looked at the text message and read it before replying. ‘Sounds good then. I’ll meet you there at 1:30.’ Prompto sighs softly as he did his best to walk towards the place, ankle hurting like a bitch as he continued to walk and knew it’d be swollen by the time he gets home later in the day.
Reason for Prompto leaving as early for the place was because he lives on the other side of the city and with his sore ankle it’d take him 30 minutes to an hour to get to where he was meeting Ignis at. A few times the blonde had to stop to catch his breath from the pain of his ankle, but after a couple minutes later he started to walk again.
He had been scribbling down a menu for the next week, alternating between his own and Noctis’ when the beep of his phone drew Ignis once more away from his thoughts. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth at reading the message, Prompto truly was a kind soul, or a very very good actor. It made him wonder what the gentle youth would think of him if he knew what Ignis truly got up to on those days, if Prompto would be appalled, or join in...
The idea of seeing Prompto at a club scene... Ignis swallowed a little harder than he meant to, quite frankly more surprised of where his thoughts had gone rather than the fact he could see Prompto at a club scene. ‘Perhaps one day I can show you. See you at 1:30, Prompto.’ he messaged without much of another thought before setting the phone aside.
He hadn’t bothered to restyle his hair while it had been wet, but now that it had been given quite a while to dry. Ignis tutted at himself while snagging a comb from one of his desk drawers, fingers hovering over the bottle of gel as he paused. Truly Prompto wouldn’t think of him less for daring to be... less than his usual neat and tidy, would he? The idea of bothering to put his hair up seemed too much for the ghostly ache around his heart and Ignis shook his head stubbornly as he grabbed at the bottle regardless.
His ankle throbbed as he stood from the desk, allowing himself time to fuss over his appearance; combing and restyling his hair, smoothing out the shirt collar and slipping on his jacket; taking the time to even fetch the lint roller out of his desk. Fastening his cufflinks, he paused to look at his timer and he frowned before tugging the link securely in place - uncertain of if the bands he wore before would still agitate his skin - cleaning his glasses, through all of it he ignored the pain emanating from the injury. A glance at the clock told him he had to leave otherwise he’d be running late. How had the time slipped away from him so easily?
Ignis was highly aware that he had a limp as he slowly made his way through halls and down elevators, winding up with the crowd of tourists leaving at one point, and he prayed to Ifrit that no one from the Citadel noticed, although the regular crowds in front of him gave him little care. Already he could hear Gladiolus’ scolding for doing it, or rather for ignoring the injury instead of going to one of the Citadel’s doctors right after. Noctis... it was harder to tell if the young prince would bring it up or not.
He could only hope he reached the café before Prompto did, having the suspecting feeling that the young man would fuss as bad as Gladiolus.
Prompto briefly winces when he feels his timer on his wrist tick down to 0, removing his wristband he has around his soulmate timer that no one ever see’s since he always keeps it covered. The blonde did his best to nap, but there were times he’d wake with a small whine or a small cry at how his sprained ankle woke him up from time to time. It was throbbing, but there wasn’t much he could do about it or for it. Especially since he doesn’t have much money to go get it checked out by a doctor, which is why he has to let it heal on it’s own. Prompto’s just glad it’s not broken or fractured otherwise he’d be so fucked right about now.
The blonde hissed some when he felt his skin being irritated for some reason, whining to himself as he wishes he could just curl up on the couch, but was worried about his injured ankle at the moment to move so he just wrapped his arms around himself and just cried quietly to himself as he felt so alone with just himself to take care of himself. Some days it was just too much for him to be so cheerful and carefree, especially when he’s by himself his thoughts start to wander towards negative thoughts. Most are if he’s good enough to be Noct’s friend, good enough to even have friends to begin with. Prompto decided in the end to curl up into a ball and ignored his ankle when it protested in pain by welcoming it freely to at least feel something more than feeling so alone right now. When his phone went off, the blonde looked at it briefly and replied, pretending to be okay when he wasn’t.
‘That’s good then. That’s good you got an evening off coming up soon. You deserve time off Ignis. Hope you can get all the relaxing in that you usually don’t when taking care of Noct.’ Thinking of Ignis and him having a day off coming up makes the blonde happy for the Advisor, ignoring his own loneliness at the moment to be happy for Ignis.
Prompto hopes whoever his soulmate is, isn’t feeling or hurting from his own injury. After all it was no one else’s fault, but his own and he blamed himself for being so stupid for being so damn clumsy. ‘I’ll be there then. Anytime Ignis. What time should I be there?’ The blonde wanted to make sure to leave his adoptive parents house super early enough to arrive at the place at a good time and so Ignis wasn’t waiting on him too long or too late even. The thought alone made Prompto grimace at the thought of arriving way too late for Ignis and it made his heart churn in heartbreak at the thought of hurting Ignis in anyway. Or being a disappointment to the Advisor even and he wanted to prove to Ignis and Gladio that he wasn’t worthless to be Noct’s friend, even though he believed himself a disappointment and failure to everyone.
Prompto looked at the time on his phone and noticed it wasn’t that late into the morning. He’d have enough time to get dressed into something that was more presentable than what he was currently wearing. He didn’t want to look like shit or trash in front of the Advisor. Especially, with his crying he’d been doing not long ago. The blonde looked at his ankle again and grimaced at how swollen it still was so he got up as best as he could to get more ice for his melted bag of ice. It was a slow and painful process, but he was able to do it before going back to the couch to prop up his swollen ankle and placed the ice on it again before doing his best to relax until he needed to get dressed and head to the place Ignis told him to meet him at.
Something settled uncomfortably in his chest as Ignis leaned back and read, his eyes drifting over sentences again and again without properly taking in their context. It took longer than he would have liked for the feeling to take a name; loneliness. A frown tugged at Ignis’ lips as the feeling gripped at his heart like a shadow, as if an echo-
The soft beep of his phone drew Ignis out of his musing and the man slipped a bookmark between the pages he’d been struggling with and he exchanged the tomb for the device, reading over Prompto’s messages. Ah yes, the ‘relaxation’ he gets when out for the night... ‘Perhaps not the typical amount of stress relief I usually have during a night off, but I shall do my best. Thank you, Prompto.’ He had yet to inform Gladiolus of these change of plans... perhaps later, after the lunch between himself and Prompto. The walk between the Citadel and the café would do for a good test of how much Ignis would be able to deal with the injury.
A glance at the clock on his desk told Ignis that lunch wasn’t too far off, but it gave them some time still. ‘Around 1:30 then? I have a bit of paperwork to finish still, and no meetings set until later into the day.’ A few after lunch and then he’d be able to slip away to see about gathering groceries and cooking meals for Noctis for the next few days.
Ignis made a note to grab groceries for himself from one of the twenty-four hour grocery stores after finish at Noctis’. Unless he wanted to see about placing a pick-up order to be easier on his ankle... His gaze turned to the ankle in question and he frowned again as it throbbed in pain as if he was walking on it despite it being propped up, a pained hiss slipping through his teeth.

“Well, well, well. I see you staring a little bit to hard. Can I help you?”
ofhades:
“Hmm… “ the older man couldn’t help but hum a little bit. throwing his hands up in a shrug. he noticed how the other wouldn’t look at him. strange, though — he could understand. Emet wasn’t the nicest to look at, though he couldn’t help but laugh a bit. “An air? Hm. Well then — Most time I end up cooking for myself, it be a treat for myself I guess.” as long as this one wasn’t going to try and kill him, he didn’t mind it.
“ I see… Well I’ll let you surprise me. though I wouldn’t say I’m picky. just used to better food then most.” even if he was once a king in his life he has tasted finer foods in his life time.
The corners of Ignis’ mouth curved upwards at hearing the laugh, stretching the gnarled scars on his face uncomfortably tight. He knew how uncomfortable they made others to see, heard the whispers from adults and children alike as they wondered how he had gotten them- or even survived them. Each time was like a twist of a knife in his heart.
He get his gaze flicker to the stranger then, his hands gripped tight around the bags of groceries he’d gone to fetch for the restaurant. “Not picky? Well, any preferences then?” Even if he didn’t end up surprising this other man then it was no loss to him, just a good challenge. “My establishment is nearby, if you’d like to follow.”
A pause and then Ignis tilted his head to meet the man’s gaze. “You may call me Ignis.”

Prompto groans when his alarm goes off early in the morning, warning him that it was time for his morning jog. Something he wasn’t thrilled about, but at least he’ll get a good workout. It took him a couple of minutes to drag himself out of bed before getting on his workout clothes he wears whenever he works out or goes for a jog in the early mornings. Once he was dressed he stretched some before setting off on his morning jog.
The blonde went around his block for 20 minutes, not paying attention on the last couple of miles of his jog around his neighborhood, when he tripped over something and landing on his ankle the wrong way. He tried to catch himself in time before he fell and hit the pavement, but he wasn’t fast enough and landed on his sprained ankle as well as his hands and knees, scraping his hands and knees on the pavement. A small cry left his slightly parted lips as he panted from jogging, the pain from his ankle, hands and knees made him wince as he slowly sat up to check on his hands and knees before he’d check his ankle.
Prompto grimaced when he saw his hands had scraps on them as well as his knees and his ankle hurt so much as he tried to move it by checking on it. So he just left it alone until he gets home to try and take care of it somehow. Slowly, he got up, wincing again when his ankle let him know that it was hurting as he tried to put pressure on it. The blonde slowly made his way home on his sprained ankle, making it a slow process and painful too. Once he was home he went straight for the shower and took a hot one for his sore muscles, ankle hurting more as he kept his weight off of it as much as possible.
After Prompto finished with his shower, he got dressed in clothes before going to the kitchen to get ice for his ankle. Once he got the ice and a plastic baggy that he put the ice inside of that he went straight to the couch to rest his sprained ankle as well as put the bag of ice on it. Prompto let’s out a sigh of relief while wincing when he got a good view of his sprained ankle that was swollen. The moment the ice was placed on it that the blonde did his best to rest while he read Ignis’ text message and replied to it.
‘I know that. Just figured you were going to be busy with him today is all.’ Prompto sent that to the Advisor before adding to the end of it. ‘Oh? Is it?’
Prompto was starting to wonder if he’ll be able to even make it to lunch with Ignis now with his sprained ankle, but the blonde would try to figure that part out later. Maybe, he’ll pretend it didn’t hurt or that it was sprained and just walk on it as normal as he possibly could. He didn’t want to worry anyone, especially not Ignis so he’d fake and pretend nothing was wrong. Even if inside he’d be dying from the pain itself. ‘Sure. That sounds good. What’s the name of it? I’ll make sure to get there a little early.’ Mostly so Ignis didn’t have to wait on him long.
The blonde set an alarm for noon time and decided to take a small nap on his couch until then. He texted his boss to let him know he wouldn’t make it in since he didn’t feel all that well, even though it wasn’t a lie just didn’t want to go work on his sprained ankle thanks to how stupid he was on his jog. Before he knew it, the blonde was sound asleep.
One lunge, two and then three... a jump followed by a flip, throwing himself backwards without taking his eyes off his target; Ignis’ routine was well known to himself by now, a dance for one really- one he excelled at.
Sweat built and dripped upon his temple - one two three - his feet were light as a predator’s - jump and flip - his movements smooth and quick - throw and repeat; one two three and jump-
So the way his ankle practically screamed out as he hit the floor from an effortless and well practice flip took Ignis by more surprise than the fact it actually hurt and he inhaled sharply. The pole began to drop from his hands before he remembered to grip it tightly; his hands stung as he did and Ignis took a second to catch his breath while shifting his weight off of his injured ankle.
His knees aching didn’t help either, and Ignis wondered for a split second how exactly he messed up that landing before shaking the thought off as he slowly made his way to the nearest wall, using it to help support himself while he moved towards the rack to hang up the pole-arm as his workout was obviously over.
Perhaps it was just a sprain? It felt like one, he had gotten them a few times before when practicing his flips but that had been years ago.
Frustration welled in him as he made it to the showers. He scrubbed angrily at his skin in the lukewarm water; the sight of his soulmate timer was near enraging and he had to remember to breathe for a moment. Of all days to injure himself, it had to be near a day off. Ignis paused at the noise of his phone chiming as he stepped out of the shower, and wrapped a towel around his waist as he slowly moved to the bag, snagging the thing out of it. His anger relaxed at the sight of Prompto’s name across the screen, loosening the flames around his heart in his chest.
‘No, not today really. I’ll be by of course this evening to make his meals for the next few days, but I do have an evening off coming soon with plans of relaxing.’ Not that one could usually call the club scene relaxing, but it gave Ignis an outlet for whatever had him pent up over the days between.
Although with how his ankle was feeling, Ignis somewhat doubted he’d be in any state to partake in his usual activities. Perhaps he’d call upon one of his... friends...? Shaking the thought off he responded. ‘Valorie’s Café and Bakery. It’s across the street from an Insomnia Coffee, on Fourth Street if I recall correctly. I appreciate the gesture.’ Quite frankly he was used to both Noctis and Gladiolus being late, so the thought of Prompto actually attempting to arrive early? It had something awful warm blossom in Ignis’ chest.
The pain in his ankle, although lessened now, was still there as he carefully dressed and then slowly made his way back to his office. Shutting the door behind him, Ignis moved his chair back and snagged a book to read while propping his ankle on his desk in hopes of reducing the pain more.

“Well, well, well. I see you staring a little bit to hard. Can I help you?”
ofhades:
gold eyes stare at the other for a moment. titling his head to the side, here he thought he could have a break — but something about this man tells him otherwise. he saw his soul, how broken it was. how different it was from the people around here. it only took him a second to shrug. “ it’s been a mere while. Most cooks I’ve had to deal with don’t get my taste right. Why”
Why was the question, wasn’t it? Ignis didn’t dare to advert his gaze, the man reminded him far too much of another for him to feel comfortable doing so as he replied, “You have this... air about you that says you haven’t.” That the man was just as much as a stranger to this planet as Ignis was. In the years he lived upon Hydaelyn, he had never met one that exuded power as this man did.
“Besides, I am not most cooks, and I am used to picky eaters.” This planet wasn’t home, these ingredients and recipes weren’t his. But he make do, and Ifrit damn him if he didn’t do a decent enough job. “Dare I ask to let me try and surprise you?”

“Well, well, well. I see you staring a little bit to hard. Can I help you?”
Everything about the man had Ignis’ senses screaming at him, power rolled uncertainly under his skin while his lips twisted deeper into a frown. Ignis had to bite his tongue to keep from saying replying with his usual amount of snark, instead he merely asked, “When was the last time you ate something decent?”
